Thanks Tina!

Good Evening gardeners!

dzy, I admire you for getting the Agapanthus to grow and bloom for you, I have tried more times than I care to admit. I am a little behind you with the Gloriosa lily. I am showing nice fat buds, thanks for sharing your pretties with us.
The long stalks in my picture are the Costus scaber, they are almost to the top of my hh.

texasbigleaves, I could not find a picture of the flowers. That is the little plant you gave me several years ago. It will bloom soon and Ipromise to take a picture then.
I hope that you have not lost your AeAe banana, and your big Alocasias from Lari Ann. How big is that variegated ginger plant?
I do not have any plans for Houston anytime soon, been spending all my money on e-bay. lol

mjsponies, I hope that you are saving seeds from that MG,
that is a beauty. Wishing rain for you, and no fires this year.

Joeswife, you have so much room in the backyard for flowerbeds. Someone sugested that I put a island bed in mine and I have been enjoying it ever since, much less grass to mow. Those are some beautiful Irises you posted. It seems as if I had the shortest blooming time in my perennial beds this year.

RachelLF, did you get the Philo. Gigas to root for you?

Hi Tina

homer1958, I will second what Tina said and add that you also have a beautiful home.
The mother Musa Rowe Red rooted and left me two very nice babies.

Rita, how do you keep your Noch looking so good?!

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

So, Drew, do your tropicals stay in their pots all summer so you can take them inside in winter?

Or do you dig them up and re-pot them all before it gets cold? Whew!

It sure looks beautiful anyway! Keep us up on the progress.

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

Prita, Thank you so much for the wonderful comments!
DYZZY, I usually plant from the pots in the spring except for a few that I kinda tour around in the sun in larger and larger pots through the summer!

I like to get a jump on things. you never know around here till about middle to end of May for everything to be normal temperatures. It was 36 Wed. am and 39
Thurs. morning.

Drew, you know I loved your pictures too.

Rita, beautiful flowers on your Nong Nooch vine and no, I never got the Gigas to root but thats OK. I also never got the big, beautiful cutting of melanochrysum from ebay to root either. However, I did manage to get this ebay cutting to root;) Do you recognize which Philo. it may be? I have a hunch but I am probably just going to have to let it grow more.

Hi everyone, it was a beautiful spring day today, I managed to take half my potted plants out of the GH. I hope everyone had a very pleasant day.

Kay Jones, It can only be dumb luck, getting that vine to bloom. I lost a mature vine in the previous bad winter and even with extra covers on the HH, this new plant lost all it's foliage. It is in a spot where it gets morning sun and I try to never let it dry out.

RachelLF, I am having a hard time with the P Gigas. I might have to re-pot it to see if that will help any. I usually have good luck with Philos but this one is hard to please. I thought that if you got the cuttings to strike, maybe you would share some wisdom with me.
I will have to see a picture of your mature leaf before I can help with your new Philo. Kudos to you for getting it to grow. I will not buy any more cuttings from e-bay, having lost too many already.

homer1958, lets hope that is the last of the cold weather, and we can enjoy what's left of spring.

DH got me this Colocasia for Mothers Day. Let's see your your Mother's day presents.(even if you bought it for yourself)

Hey all...I got 2 new Hoya's I'll try to take pics tomorrow.. They are smaller leaved and one is Rosay colored foliage. It's late, the kids and grandkids are here and I'm just checkin in ! Yikes, it's all crazy with the grandkids here........... LOL...but they keep us young !

Red Oak, TX

A Glorious Mother's Day to all the Moms and GrandMoms!!!

mjsponies, I hope that you are having a great day! Looking forward to seeing your new Hoyas especially the plant with the rosary colored foliage.

ooo, Rita, I so want to come live with you. You have and find the prettiest plants!! I didn't get my surprise today, its coming Wednesday, so I am told. My kids said they could have expressed it, but would have been $90. so it must be kinda big. LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

What a fabulous present. I used to have a licuala and sadly did not take good care of it one winter may it RIP.

I finally found something I absolutly cannot live without. Of course no one has it for sale right now. Agristarts will have them in July but they will only be tiny babies and it is famous for being a slow grower, not to mention I believe Agristarts is a wholesale place.

I hope all mothers have had a wonderful Mothers Day.

Rita, I've wasted enough money on cuttings from ebay too and thanks for trying to help with an I.D. I'm like you and find most of the Philodendrons I have, to be easy to grow but I do have one that seems to be almost as finicky as your Gigas. Wishing you the best with it and you received some extra nice Mothers Day gifts. They are both gorgeous.

Ardesia, you may want to check with LariAnn Garner, if you've not already.

Good suggestion Rachel, I'll dmail her and see what she says.

Red Oak, TX

Hello!!

GAgirl1066, thanks, you are good at finding those rare cool plants as well! I always look forward to your new finds.
I love surprises, I bet you will be looking out for the mail truck on Wednesday. Great Kids!

ardesia, I would love to have a few of those too!

Franco24, lucky you! Looking forward to seeing your bloom. That is a very healthy plant. Did you use bloombooster? Mine are not doing well.

I love that Rangoon Creeper.. don't think mine made it.. oh well.. that is twice now I have tried, no trying again.

Blackshear, GA

Hi Rita,
Is that normal for it to be white and turn to pink/red? Is that a certain variety? Its beautiful!!

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

yeah Rita . . .go ahead and post that rangoon creeper picture . . .just rub it in that you can get yours to bloom and I can't. LOL

Wouldn't you know that is the one vine of mine that won't freeze. It's coming back again. I need to try and acidify the soil and see if that will help with the bloom. I'm so tired of messing with it, but I can't bring myself to dig it up and give in. I wish it would die!

phughes - Supposedly Hibiscus fertilizer works great for Rangoon Creeper. I'm going to give it a try ...........see Rj's Journal........ or get Rita to tell us her secret ! Course mine is still a baby so I can't complain about it yet.

Rachel, I think that one of the three P.Gigas that I got on E-Bay will make it.When and if I get it big enough, I will get you a cutting. From what I have read they love fast draining soil that stays moist!

Drew, you are so very thoughtful. Thank you so much for thinking of me concerning a Philo. gigas, but for now, just concentrate on getting your plant to grow. I know that Rita and I will applaud you on growing this particular Philodendron!
