Rita,
I think your cactus is Epiphyllum chrysocardium - sharks tooth cactus.
Tropical Garden # 100- YEA !!
Thanks, MJ! That sure looks like my plant.
Debra, mine started making blooms after I got it into a part-sun location. Doesn't like much sun, but needs some. Even the gangly ones under the oak tree bloomed after we had the tree thinned.
It may have helped that I gave them a bit of fert and water . . .
Love your leaf pic above - is it a white caladium? Mine are hiding under the mango tree and looking great. The ones that get more light look like they're made of paper.
Hello All!!
plantladylin, and GAgirl1066 thanks for helping with the identification of the cactus plant. It was hard for me to decide betwen the E. anguliger and E chrysocardium, they are quite similar and both have white blooms. I feel like it is the E chrysocardium. I would be a bit more excited if the flower was a different color. Thanks very much!

All of your plants look like they are in FL.rather than in
Red Oak!!!!!!!
All of my plants took a bad beating this winter.
Lost alot of plants this winter but so has lots of people.
Have you thought about a trip to Zone 9 and to R J's?
Jerry
Rita, yes, that was Mark Campbell and your noid Ginger and Musa Siam Ruby are beauties.
Dizzy, your Gloriosa rothschildiana is so pretty. I just bought some seeds for that plant. Nice Caladiums too.
Debra, I always enjoy viewing your Philo. "Big Boy" and the cane Begonia you sent me is about to show it's first blooms;)
love that Shooting Star hydrangea , I almost got one, but decided I needed to see of other things can grow I have gotten first.
Rita my bananas all look so fried, but I do see new leaves trying to push up from the middle.
Work has had me so captive, I am good to get a shot of this Iris this am before I left..
Rachel, I am glad your cane begonia is going good, everything here is just now getting used to their new homes for the summer, unless I change their minds ..I saw my string of pearls and rosary vines are coming out fine.. need to take pictures maybe this weekend..
You know, I have never really grown Iris, *my grandma and great aunt did* but I am glad someone was kind enough to send me this one..
Good morning, everyone! Deb, that Iris is really pretty!
Good Morning!!
Very nice, MJ!
Ohhh, I can smell that yellow Iris - beautiful!
Just beautiful Debra! So what is the project? or did I miss that?
Debra, I love that bronzy iris. Can't grow them here but I got a bunch of different colors for my daughter's garden in Salt Lake. Talk about a dazzling array of colors available. Plus they're SO easy.
I'm most impressed by all those huge pots in your yard shot. All out of the basement, huh?? It's going to be an amazing jungle there by summer.
Agapanthus have forgiven me for re-potting them - first bloom just coming.
I have several Agapanthus plants and they have never bloomed - should I keep them in shade, under the eave where they are now, or move them to full sun - what do they want?!
Kay, my Agapanthus are in a huge pot in full sun, but inside the pool cage, so slightly less intense sun than if they were in the garden. They stay out there all year, but I do cover at night in cold weather.
They like being pot-bound and hate to be moved. Up until this spring, my big clump was in the same pot for 8 years. I would add some soil on top of the roots each spring, and a sprinkle of time release fert, then just water maybe once a week if there was no rain. The old pot finally broke so I had to re-pot this clump. When we turned it out, you could hardly see any soil for all the roots in that pot!
Whenever I have taken divisions or tried to get them going in the garden, they have died off. They also really like to dry out between waterings.
Here's a shot of the big clump in its pot. Looks like I have two varieties in there now - how'd that happen??
Here's a start I got from a friend that I've been ignoring and neglecting for about 3 years. It now has 3 fans of leaves and two flower scapes! It is outside the pool cage but right beside it, so it gets a little shade in the morning through the middle of the day. Hoping it is another color than the big clump, but I can't remember . . . sigh.
Thanks, Alice - I'll dig them this summer and check the roots.
