Whew! Hello To All ! Answers first !
Shirley - Yes - I DID make sure to toast each one of you individually last night LOL... I woke up at 8:15a but still ran a few minutes late... not long though... Didn't see a recent post from you so wondering if you are still visiting or entertaining family...

Betty - No headache today... just very tired... I thought "Why so tired?" then remembered I worked a full day Friday then drove 6 hours ... maybe that is why. YES - having just returned my prescription for you and Deb = ROAD TRIP ! Was WONDERFUL.... you gals need to get away too. So excited that you've said for the FIRST time "WHEN" I visit Mary LOL... Yes - I'll share my Cajun hubby with you and better yet... we'll keep an eye out for a Louisiana guy for YOU.. then I'll get to see you Lots... LOL... always said I ended up in Louisiana cuz the men COOK so good... Hubs is a great cook!

Here are my Teen's Easter Baskets: Beach Towels, umbrellas and scissors, pajamas. Basically stuff they've borrowed and lost of mine and Hubby's plus a few other things.... LOL... He fussed at them all.. scissors were all in their rooms... and he couldn't find any.. same with umbrellas LOL
LK - YES def toasted YOU... Praying you guys get some rain... hard to believe ya'll skipped out on these tornado storms... seems we've all had them pass through... but then you are way south of us I believe ... probably the most south of anyone...

Betty you go right ahead and complain - you have earned the right and the need to. After so many days of headaches lordy I don't know how you can keep a civil tongue in your head.
Due to the incessant rain today it is like hell let out for recess around here. Stormy is pacing, whining nad just plain getting in the way. I can't be any farther than 10 in from him. Quill is hogging the best spot in front of the wood stove and the cats won't come out of the bathtub. Thankful DH is souns asleep!
So glad you had a great time Kris and you were able to give Mary lots of hugs from us all.

Mary, glad to hear you are doing well....wine and all! Sounds like a great time.

Shane did not get a new job, Shannon "the child" did. She is working at the mini-mart and also new job at Kohls. So far they are giving her good hours...and she is busy. Shane is still working at the golf course in the restaurant area/kitchen.

Right now, he is on "spring/Easter break" and I will be crazy by next weekend. Trying to keep him organized....and occupied...is very hard. He does have track practice daily so that will help some.

Dianne, I would have a talk with PT also on DH. We have a bed contraption at our PT that tilts...and I asked AJ. He said some back injuries are compressed discs...and it helps relieve the pressure from them. They DO use a weight to help "stretch" them a tad. BUT I would chat...and find out for sure if I was you. Has DH had xrays or scans of any type to see exactly WHAT they are treating?

We had rain all day also, then about 8:00 the temp went up a bit to 50...and rain slowed to a drisel.

Kris...sounds like Goober had a great time along with the rest of you. Now you can teach her how to transplant all that!! Safe travels home.

I am heading to bed while it is quiet. Storms moving in....and more high wind.

Oh My ! What a Great day !
I just knew I'd know Elf the minute I saw her... with those gorgeous movie star eyes... but she cheated.. she had on big Sunglasses... still I KNEW it was ELF...

Got up at 8:15a... ate the 'free' breakfast, checked out and drove 40 minutes north... found the park... there was a BIG sign that said "DAVES GARDEN"... I pulled in saw Elf...and parked right next to her...
So I met her FIRST and then Goober... Then a Flurry of activity... I'm trying to pull my plants out... Folks are buzzing around... "Can I have this?" etc... Elf is getting me some special plants she has saved for me... People are bringing me plants... Everyone talking at once... Crazy busy !

By about 11am... everyone has given everything away... and we head over to the Chinese Restaurant for lunch...

I tried to call Kris Kris all day... but I really think of her as "Elf" ... so I may just start calling her that... anyway ELF is a HOOT... and Goober is just fantastic... I almost got to take Goober home as a Door Prize...
Luckily Elf wants some banana plants so I will bribe her with those so we get to visit one day soon... and I'd LOVE for Goober to come over and swim....I think she'd love the pool and my back yard....
Elf - get that Goober into some Drama classes... I think she would be absolutely wonderful... Goober sang for our Birthday girl... helped emcee and draw for Door Prizes... Today was just absolutely wonderful.

I left at 1:36pm and made really good time driving home... Got home around 6:30pm.... Hubby got home an hour later..

FUNNY about Hubs... Okay timeline: March = talked to DH about RU... response? "You're not taking any of my Irises"... Last week talked to DH about RU... got him on the Blog to read of what ppl had to trade... response? Hubby digs up all FOUR irises... tells me he wishes he were coming with me... divides up MORE plants (hardy hibiscus etc) and moves all plants into garage so I can load them easier... NOW I'm home.. he is fit to be tied... wants to dive into them and start getting plants settled....he is SO SO Excited ! LOVES the lotus ELF ! wants to know why not to touch it... While I'm on here reading Betty's blog... he is on the other computer looking up the plants I brought back on DG !
FIRST plant to find a home were the horsetails Elf... they are happy in my backyard pond... if they multiply I'll put them in the front too... The purple flower plant? Can I put that in the pond too? Can't remember...

I'll pop back in a bit... OMG... THANK YOU ALL For talking me into going... yes a long long drive but I've had a BLAST and met some very wonderful people... ((HUGS))

Tornadoes very VERY close to my DIL, Ft Bragg area has lots of damage thousands with out power,buildings destroyed, roofs blown off !!!! have not heard any "casualty" reports, hoping it stays that way or very low at least...... DIL called me from cell phone hooked up to power in her car....she had just plugged in her cell phone to charge............and poof............power went out she wondered for a minute if she blue the circuit ??? then realized the hole house was out....... then realized it was storm

talked to her just a while ago, baby is sleeping peacefully, and she was sitting on the stoop, talking with neighbor....phone plugged into the car , waiting for my "soldier boy" to wake up and get on the computer.....these new phones just amaze me.....

So happy to hear that the RU went well .
Now time to plant everything but that will be fun trying to figure out where everything goes.
Coffee is on will go out and see if any wind damge from storms.

Morning all, We are just waking up. Got to go load the SUV somehow with the suitcase, and beautiful glass dome James and Robert gace me,, Have to forse them to take one of my plants so I have room!! I will be on the road in the next hour of so and will be stopping to get new tires for my lawn cart, so I can get all these plants moved out into the garden!! I told Goober she may have to ride on the roof!!. We have TONS of Pics and they will get loaded tonight!!

Sun was trying to come out, see a bit of white on the car but it's all but melted on the ground...were calling for rain all day, perhaps storm blew through and it will be cold but blue sky..can only hope!

Tried to stay awake for the night shift..truly did..this morning got up, no posts..darts, how can that be, surely someone would have dropping in then realized yesterday while clearing a few watched threads much have unwatched this one...was starting to fret ... So glad I found you all!

Looking forward to seeing postings from all today so we know you are o.k.

As for dh, he'll be shipping you off to RU's whenever and wherever they are as you get plants sometimes not found in nurseries...glad he has something to entertain himself today, planting of all your goodies...had no idea that you would be traveling home right after..was it a route you normally don't take? See any place you'd like to go browse?
Yep, most certainly will be coming you way..got the traveling itch..no can do in May, already south for 5 days..June/July much going on here..august is Judy's, late August is visit eith Barb and Norm, late September, early October though might be the time for an outing..my problem is I only have so many days vacation Have to do the traveling math....well, I'm thrilled you ventured out on your own, that alone an accomplishment, then the meet Kris and Goober and other dg friends. Was something..hey doesn't mean I have to drive to you, you could fly in to Buffalo and do what I did with Crissy last year, pick her up, go to gathering (Judy's) then come here for a few days of sightseeing and then I could drive you back to buffalo for flight home..ask Crissy, worked out 100%... Tell hubby you will bring him back Canadian flowers..lol

It was so delightful to hear about the RU and trust me when I say we were all there with you guys and are thrilled to hear of the great time you had. I can see it all in my mind (there's not much else in there) LOL as you both talk about it. That's a great group shot. That Goober is a doll. I could use her energy around here. Yes it will be fun to go through all the new plants and decide where to put them.

Well, Tubby in recliner me at table having coffee. It was a long day yesterday and Tubby had a hard time gettin rest and comfort, but I beleive he rested well after last change at midnight. I had to take some pain pills for the knees when I don't get to exercise like I need. The kids were a bit onry yesterday, but Tubby said it was okay for them to be there. We tried to keep them outside, but they were a bit naughty. I will have to watch them a bit closer today. I need to figure out what to eat. I have the dishes to do soon, he's Mom offers, but she has bad eye sight so I like to do them myself, but once in awhile I give in if there aren't any pots and pans. LOL I have to check them as I put them away. It always reminds me of when you let kids learn how to do the dishes and you'd have to check them also.

Did get the taxes done. That's a relief as the youngest DD took them in to tax man and then picked them up. Now I will have to make a big grocery list and have them go to the store and get a few things.
I'll have them take my vehicle so when they get the big bags of dog food it can stay in the back till I'm ready to unload.

Everyone is doing just fine here.
DH going to check on the camper as it is parked on the Navy base
and then to play a short 3 holes of golf with our little man.
Then he wants to put in a flower bed in front of the deck.

Bev, nothing would give you more joy than to be a sunshine day and get to play out in your gardens...sure hope you can...a pressie wouldn't hurt either even if you have to go pick one up yourself as Scotty is unable to do so...maybe a lily ???

Well, it rained all day yesterday, turned into some slush and was cold and windy. Today it's beautiful. So I have been out sanding the lil patio. I think it looks pretty good, lol of course anything is better then what it looked like...Finally finished the shrine.

Judy, your yesterday weather is what I am having right now. We had some very heavy winds, followed by heavy snow...blowing sideways and ground covered in minutes. ANd now the neighbor kids are out playing and no signs of snow at all.

I do have this young lady roosting onmy roof though.....she is alone, but so pretty.

Ok,ok, I am finally home and am wiped out. Goober killed the batterries on our trip this weekend and I am going to charge them tonight and post pics tomarrow. I am very tired and going to bed for a nap.. be back later,,,

sons are all good. DIL and grand baby good way too close to tornado action for my liking!!! one of the gates at the base they are on was blown away!!! about a 1/4 mile away...... gate house gone!! no mention made of the guards??? :( My DIL is a swimming coach / instructor at a large sports center...One of her students, and the dad were killed :( sport center is in Sanford NC hardest hit town.....she does not know if the building is still there...so many roads closed , many with out power..etc......not good..

my DIL and baby are good, our Jaye (heavenscape) is good....that is good

My Momma has a cousin in NC that she has been un-able to get a hold of :( I told her not to worry...No news is good news....I don't think she is listening...they are very close, like sisters, they lived in same house for many years when children.....

Omg Thunder, my heart goes out to all..thankfully your family is ok..hopefully your mom's cousin will be found to be ok..Mother Nature sure has shown her wrath these past few months..

The community will certainly mourn their loss...

Betty, my brother Shoe is in NC also. I was on the computer and phone this morning...bright and early. He is fine, tornado hit north of him and to the west I believe he said. Just a few branches down.

Thunder, such sad news....and scary. Glad family is accounted for. Also remember...those storms took out phone lines, computer access and cell phone towers. I am sure her cousin will contact as soon as possible.

I had a wonderful Birthday. All three of my boys were here with exes and girlfriends and grandkids and fixed our supper. Icecream and cake and friends and all. I didn't have to lift a finger and I am wore out. HUGS BEV

Hello To All !

Hey Betty - good challenge... I tried to name everyone in the group and got all but 2.. Funny getting to know folks when some you know their DG name, some their 'real' name and some both... I did get to talk to most folks for a bit.... My DG name was set up by Hubby long before I was interested in gardening... that's why it's so boring... wonder if I can change it without changing my subscription... Yes - Betty I suppose if I had let go of Goober she would be bouncing around the room... she was determined to get a group pic... I made her get in the photo and had the restaurant guy take ALL of us...
She was just Wonderful! I still think she has Elf's eyes even if they are different color... Unfortunately the route home and there was a route I could probably drive with eyes shut... the RU was very close to Sis ... not far from Dad... but still nice to get out on the Interstate and drive.... Hmmm a visit... Wonder if Judy takes sista meeting this year... maybe I could take 2012 or 2013... give everyone a reason to come south. prob 2013 then no graduations that year to deal with... Think Jude & Deb will be done with those too? April / October are our best months here... April would be nice... ya'll could have some warm weather before it hits your areas...

Shirley... I sure hope the kids behave... sad to hear they were acting up... but glad Tubby was okay with it... I suppose that's all that matters. Did you two have a good day ? LK - wow - would LOVE to do another RU... but May is 'out' for me.....literally something going on from this weekend through June... Certainly there might be one between us that we could meet at? Well - Guess what I did today ! Yup you guessed it ! Planted stuff ! Today was also the day of the Hibiscus show... So DH and I went to that. They didn't have the 'free' hibby there I was supposed to get but met the President of the Club and he told me to drop by his house and He'd give me one... He lives near my work... maybe tomorrow I'll drop by but that should be VERY NEAT because he has 300 hibbies he said ! Just to see them... Bet he's got some beauties !

So planted 5 Hostas... we only had 1 before - that's a new type plant for me... Iris x 2...pond plants...Hardy begonia, perennial sunflower, squash, pumpkin, and have about 1/2 left to go... Tough to figure out where to put some of them... but we will....and I actually potted up a few groundcovers for the "next" RU... LOL.... OR if I can get them to Elf... they both have purple... and think she and Goober would like them....for the Gnome garden...

Morning all! Been up since 3 am so another night of less than 2 hours sleep. I will be draggin by this afternoon.
Wind is still horrendous, whipping and roaring around the house. Our lake is small and we even had white caps yesterday. In the last 48 hours I am positive Stormy, Quill and I have twirled over the top of each and everyone of your houses. We have had wind, rain, snow, heavy rain, sleet, more wind, hail, freezing rain and oh yes did I mention winds. Cats have moved from the mainfloor bathtub to the shower stall downstairs. In no way has our wether been anything like some of you have had to experience this weekend and my heart goes out to you.
Thanks for the photo Mary!Looked like you were all enjoying each other's company. Can hardly wait to see the pics of yours and Kris' new plants. My Hibbys are just dying to get back outside - they do so well there but I can't even slip out for a few hours each day as it is still too cold here.

How are your fingers LK? Yes, I have 2 big patches of rhubarb so give lots away. When I worked at Foodland I was known to give bunches of it to perfect strangers as the store was out of rhubaarb.lol Didn't want our American cottagers going home without some if they wanted rhubarb so desperately. It started when 1 lady asked if we had any rhubarb in the back - I said no and jokingly said I had lots at my place. The customer was like HOW FAR AWAY DO YOU LIVE? I'M DESPERATE!!" Called DH and he gave her once she found our place a whole armful and of course wouldn't take a cent for it. The next year when she came back up she brought us a present. Very sweet of her but totally unnecessary.New recipe I tried for Rhubarb/Strawberry Crumble was not a keeper - I will stick with my own recipe I have used for years.
Debbie I am going in with DH today to his Physio session.The pain is getting more intense and of course even I didn't think it was possible he is getting crankier and flying off the handle about the least little thing.Poor guy - he is not used to experiencing pain so this ongoing pain is really affecting him.He will be 70 in May and count count on 1 hand the number of headaches he has had in his life.
How old are the ornery kids Shirley? My goodness sweet lady you have enough on your plate without worrying about keeping your eyes on those kids. Hope you and Tubby and have a restful, enjoyable day today.Huge hugs to you both.
