Best/Worse/What did I learn today? visit with friends

Was trying to change Laura to Holly as I had incorrectly posted about her dad....yikes..I'm rambling right!!


Holly, am glad your dad is feeling well enough to come home..will he have to be bedridden for a few days or do they encourage light activity..

LindaKay, yes, t.v. Bingo tonight, not sure we get together for the bingo or for an hour or so for Ann to release her feelings..winning wouldn't hurt either..Ann has needed 1 number 2 weeks in a row

Hello -
Just a short note. It's been a very busy day. I can't say what I'd like to, but it will get better and with God's help I'll make it through. There's been alot of family here and you know what that can do. I will deal with everything one day at a time.Tubby is tucked in and his Mom is here to stay for awhile.

I'd love to go outside and do some work to work out some of the stress, but that will all have to wait.

Betty it's good to hear there apparently wasn't anything major found on the MRI. I wish they could do the doppler sooner, but yes I wouldn't be surprised to hear your blood pressure is probably the culprit. Glad to hear that your friend has everything cleaned off for you and you can sit back and enjoy watching stuff come up now. Please give Ann a HUG from us and let her know that we are thinking and saying prayers for them.

Holly glad to hear your Dad is doing better and is home.

Kris hope the weather ends up nice so you can make it to the RU okay. Have a great time.

LindaKay sorry to hear your fingers are still so sore and swollen. Hoping they will heal soon.

Mary have a great time at the RU as I'm sure you'll be so glad you went.

Okay, my mind just went blank on everything and everyone else I was going to comment on so I'll just say sorry and hope and pray that the rest are doing okay. I'm just mentally exhausted and will check back in tomorrow when I can.

He isn't to do much for 3 days. Not quite bedridden but pretty quiet. No driving for 2 weeks and light duty for a month. No lifting, pulling or pushing. My parents are in their 80's they had their 60th Anniversary in Jan. They are both in pretty good health, live in their own home and do most of what needs done. Dad has some heart issues but mostly they are pretty healthy and capable. Ric and I help with the mowing and yard work but they can and have done it themselves. I must say that I have some really nice children. All four of my kids called their Grandparents today to let them know that they could take them to the store or run errands if needed. One of my son's and one of my daughters told them We only work a few minutes from your house and can come over at lunch or after work if you need anything.

(((Shirley)))) Love you lady...hang in there, and my thoughts and prayers are with your and Tubby. Sometimes family...can't live with them, can't live without them.

Betty...Do you grind your teeth or clinch your jaw tight? Suggest to the doctor also...that he do Xray of your neck and spine. Fall can cause pinched nerves. ...or a disc bulge. And that wasn't what they were looking for in the MRI...so may not have scanned that part. Rest!!

Betty - my knee is fine - wish I could say the same for your headaches!!
Shirley - I'm sure Tubby is tuckered out, and a good nap will do him some good. Glad his mom's over to be with him.
Holly - your children are indeed wonderful to their Grandparents. Bless their hearts!

omgoodness, Betty - Debbie's right - TMJ in your jaw could be the problem. Do your temples throb? and do you wake up with headaches? some people grind their teeth when they're sleeping and clench their jaws, without realizing it.

Here I is, Ann just left, Shirley she also was exhausted and after she left I thought to myself, 'Ann's thoughts, feelings must be much what Shirley is going through' the hug I gave her when leaving was for both of you, did you feel it.

Is Tubby's mom healthy , sure hope it doesn't mean that you have to give her special care! I'm sure Tubby is appreciative that his mom is by his side.

Mike has had much company of late, Anne says he's completely exhausted. Said he had a rough weekend, couldn't breathe, grasping for air and coughing up blood,she thought perhaps he was also having anxiety attacks.

Think Ann has all but finalized funeral arrangements, has appt with priest next Wednesday. Difficult to say the least.

Tonight I sat and listened..not much more I can do..

Her daughter will be up Thursday night, Carol,painting instructor is having open house on Friday re possible classes offered so Darlene thought it might do Ann good to get out for a few hours..as it is about 1/2 hr south of Barrie they would pick me up but I'm not sure I'm up to going, well see when Friday arrives.

ShAron my sister just called, it's mom's 80th birthday on September 17th so we gabbed about possible ways to celebrate..seems like such a long way away but it's not!p

Betty while I am relieved the MRI didn't reveal a problem I am still very worried about you. TMJ is a very real possibility for you....... sounds like alot of my symptoms. The TMJ (caused by an accident 24 years ago) really kicks up if I have dental work done or am under alot of stress. Now we all know you have no stress in your life - ha!!So glad Cathy got your gardens finished.

Mr Crankypants is in full cranky mode tonight, his session at Physio did NOT go well today. I gave him an ultimatium just now - he either calls Dr Death (our GP) by 1 pm tomorrow or I am calling her to make a house call.

Laura I loved the pic of your kids with their new friend. There is a pic back a few years ago at the KYRU of Sally, JustMeLisa's DD and Shoe's(Debbie's DB) DD walking off into the sunset as new best friends. The pic is priceless! Do you know which one I mean Debbie?
My Hyacinths both mini and regular are up - not blooming yet but this week for sure.Whooo Hooo!!!
Holly you are right - your kids are wonderful, obviously ya raised them 'good', lol. Since my parents were so much older when I was born I didn't have grandparents very long in my life and sure wish that I did.

Dianne - thank you for the well wishes about my knee - and I like my "new" job. Hard to believe I've been working here since Dec 6th! Although I'm not so "new", I'm still on probation until June 6th.
One of my bosses was a little "testy" today, although she's trying hard not to be. She's overworked, and is also relatively "new" cuz she started in Oct 2010! That's hard to believe too, cuz she's good at what she does (also overworked). I'm trying to do everything she requires of me, but sometimes she forgets she's already gotten the information from me, and wants it redone (which takes another 1/2 to 1 day!0 Anyway, my bosses are lovely ladies, and I'm privileged to work for/with them.

Morning all, opening your eyes in the morning and hearing birds chirping is just wonderful.. Took a few minutes to enjoy while laying in bed, alert I came when I heard that the weekend has possibility of flurries..

Dianne, not sure it could be tmj seeing I have no teeth..just have to continue search for answers Prayers for both you and your hubby...difficult when both of you have health issues...lucky you are if your GP does house calls. Does it happen that when you feel poorly, dh is healthy and able to give you the care and support you need and you are up and doing same when he's not well? You are so blessed to have each other! Did you watch the debate last night?

As daylight nears, I can see frost on the roof of houses across the street, must be chilly..don't think I'll get away without wearing a coat today. Didn't get out to walk the newly raked gardens..will do so before I head out..

Guess many of you southern ladies can sit out and enjoy your coffee on your deck or in your gardens..lucky you..

LindaKay, let's hope the doctor has answers for you! Perhaps you should have waited about accepting the 12 free nights from head office of the hotel..you may need much more care and medical treatment that you first thought. Hubby tired of taking over your house chores yet?

Betty, TMJ is about the jaw and bone...not about teeth at all, has nothing to do with it. It can be VERY painful and cause horrible headaches.

Getting out of bed was a major chore this morning. Besides the rain, and now my "aches" from PT yesterday....I felt like the tin man on Wizard of Oz...needing oiled up.

I'll send you a special can of Canadian oil...drats, nothing worse than aches..love to see the photo..

Not raining here today but really overcast..boss is just leaving for the city, Cindy leaving for the doctor, Suzanne busy as can be and me, playing games on the ipad...just too funny..

Laura, even though you got jury duty notice you just might not get picked..remember last summer I went, spent the day in the hallway with about 60 others only to find out they decided to remand..then my name went into the bottom of the pot I hope.

Hard if you get a major case and you have young children to look after!

Laura, I've got 2 of the blocks done for the Christmas/Winter swap..infact should have mailed Helene's out this morning but was running late..the 2nd block turned out rather nice BUT I was using leftovers and I ran out so had to piece a few triangles so can't send that block out so will have to keep it for me..you'd can hardly see the piecing because of fabric pattern, still had better keep it..

Not sure about the new monetary system he was talking about,should research and see..

Been busy looking for hotels for the May trip..personally I prefer NOT booking and taking what I can find where I end up..just have to see...

Debbie, hotel in Nashville we stayed in near grand old opry think that was Best Western Suites..trying to talk to girls into splurging $50 each more than budgeted for and spend the night at Gaylord Opryland Hotel...we'll see!

That would be the pitz Laura when you've your vacation already scheduled..not easy finding open spots in parks for summer months and then having to cancel..drats..when do you have to go for the initial meeting?

Afternoon everyone! I am back and the Dr, said the Xrays look good, but can't figure out why they are still swollen and won't bend! So I start occupational therapy next week. She thinks that will help. She told me to loose the splints, and be carefull with my fingers, but start working them... So hopefully therapy will work?
I have been told to report for jury selection, but have always been told to go back home.

LindaKay, so glad you don't need to have surgery and that you will start therapy..wow..you will have to be so very careful NOT to bank them on anything..so easily done! Seems whenever you have something aching you can be sure that's the exact spot that you hit! Is the therapy unit close to your home?


I had planned on telling the court that I absolutely know I would not be able to make a decision pertaining to someone's life..wouldn't be able to live with perhaps making the wrong choice but never got that far, always sent home as well...

Will have to take some photo's of the girls projects they are doing at painting, several are doing old window frames, one did the cutest floormat, done rather than snakes and ladders for her grandchildren, it's teddy bear and ladders...just too cute..so many interesting things on the tables..takes me about an hour to find a table that has enough room for ME to play..lol

Although it's bright outside is is awfully cold! brrrr Right now it's 48 degrees..by some standards frigit right...

Did walk the gardens this morning..got to tell you, Cathy sure did a fantastic job in cleaning them all..I had to smile, on one of the muskoka chair/table sets there was a plate and candle sitting out..in the secret garden, table was all set ready for tea..a few touches that took me by surprise..hopefully if it doesn't rain on the weekend I'll start the edging..that enough to keep me busy for 2 days..that being said, might just hope it rains so I can sit in and sew..that's a must..

Am hoping tonight when I get home that I will have the energy to play rather than go directly to bed..

For jury duty there is a number to call night before and they tell you go or not. Will not cancel camping . May just send DH with the kids and I go up after if I get called.

There are 2 new camp grounds and then one we go to a couple of times a year.
We are to go to Yogi Bear Campgrounds in June.

Linda Kay...a OT exercise my friend just went through.....dump a bag of M&Ms or skittles (candy) on the table...or in a dish....and use that hand, those fingers to take them out.....and eat them. OK, so you can use marbles or such....but the candy is MUCH better!!!

Betty, going to Nashville...so jealous. I felt like I was home when we were there. AND...remember, that hotel/motel.....had the drivers pick us up outfront...and take us over to the Opry and wherever, with added humor. Was much cheaper than parking and such.....and delivery right back to the door!

LK I would love the MandMs, DH chose peanuts to pick up for his therapy. Any yes he did eat them. He has a handful of peanuts every day, even when he is sick. Good luck with the OT.
I shouldn't say this too loudly but I have never been called for jury duty.

Yes, the fingers still hurt, I can't bend them at the first and second knuckle. Dr, could not say why they are still bruised and swollen.
I just called corporate office of Best Western, and was told I have to deal with the location where I got hurt, so I called and talked to the Manager. She was very polite, and I told her I wanted to make an official complaint, and apply for compensation for the Dr, meds, and therapy. She took all my info, and told me she has to contact the insurance company, and in a few days, some will be calling me back. So more waiting to see what happens!
I like the idea of picking up candies from a bowl, think I will go get some this afternoon! ^_^

I'm so glad you managed to get to at least 1st base Lindakay with the hotel..should have pursued the Motel 6 that mom got injured at and didn't! Will your not putting in an official complaint when it happened create a problem..did you have witnesses?

Could the fingers have been wrapped too tightly?

Last night while Ann was visiting I realized I had nothing sweet to offer her so took out a box of chocolate covered almonds..got to tell you I sure did do therepy with my fingers.

My Dad was a witness, but since he can't speak, that won't help! The manager seemed to be really friendly, so we will have to wait and see what happens!

Linda, The hand/finger exercises might be hard but they really do help. Ric has terrible arthritis in his hands not to mention the accident a few years ago with a table saw. He has done hand/finger exercises daily for many years and really believes in them. Hopefully the swelling will go down and you will get your mobility back.
