§ Sweet Interruptions § 215

yep i sure will. thanks LK
how is the hand doing ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still pretty sore. I start therapy next week, hope that will help some!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

We got the word yesterday of our official closing date. Sept. 30. We all knew it was coming. A year and a half ago they said probably by June 2012. We get a -severance package and will be eligible for unemployment due to losing our jobs because of closing. I may just rest for a while then look for another job. I'm going to stay to the end. The govenor issued a 3% cut statewide and the agency I am with took a 5% cut. Is going to be very hard to secure another state job, but am praying one will come available when I am ready to go back to work.

On a happy note, this is our Eureka Springs, AR trip. A 3 day weekend, and I'm taking off Monday as well. The super bad storms they had been warning us about came through. We were positioned right between the 2 cells, so got some much needed rain, but on 1/4", and none of the hail or tornado warnings.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crit, where do you work? Sorry to hear about the closing.

Crit i m sorry to hear of the news about your job.
in one of our local towns, their church went belly up . ! ? it has a for sale sign on its lawn. Sad sad . its a hard economy when a church is for sale ! strange site to see. and a sorry one at that.
got back from baseball and i m pooped

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I work at a juvenile treatment center for juvenile offenders. I guess you could call it a 'juvenile prison', but we do treatment with them to try and get them to change their ways of thinking and living and teach them a better way. There are 3 in the state of Oklahoma but we are the only one that has the maxium security. I'm not sure how they are going to handle those kids. It is the worst of the worst. Everything you can think of including murder. A lot of gang kids too. I'm the Records Department supervisor. I handle all the juvenile records. I get to interact a little bit with the kids, but I don't work with them.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Patti, I'm so sorry to read of your layoff. Take advantage of your imposed rest by regrouping your mind and body. Working in that atmosphere, is no cakewalk.
Times are hard, yes.. but we'll have to have faith that something good will come out of this.

Your state's cutting off pay, while our state is building more prisons.

In our town, we have a brand new "medium close security" state prison. And another is being built right next to it.
This has been a blessing to us, as last year, having lost our major suppliers, business has been bad.
But DH has just secured a job there, after 7 months of waiting, going through tests. He had leaped over 100s of other applicants before him, and it's a great relief to know that he's starting Monday.
DH had been working with heavy appliances since he's 9. His body's taking a beating, plus his mind too.
I prayed for his physical health. He's not getting younger. His education limit his choice of work. You know the saying, be careful what you pray for? God listens and started paving a way for it to be possible. ^_^
Proof of when one door closes, another opens? I'd say, a case of letting go and letting Lord!

Sue, I am starting to get some rest. I miss you!!!! Your quirkiness and humor will return when YOU get some rest too!!!
Yep, money is nice, but your health is more important!

Sistahs, thank you so much for being there for me.
I was under a lot of pressure from the business.. his difficult parents.. and I can come here and laugh, and cry and just talk nonsense.
No matter what's said here, none of us treat each other with disdain.
There are no lip service or a** kissing.
The love is so genuine here, you can feel it, and you can hear the prayers too.

Even though the group is small, it's the quality of sistahs we have here, not the quantity ;)

Hugs and love!!! Tomorrow is another day.. a new beginning..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Jaye, glad to hear Kel got a job! I know it has been hard for youwith the appliance business beibg cut off! It will be quiet in your house while he is gone for the day! Is he working day shift?
Night everyone! Hope you all get a good nights sleep!
And I agree with Jaye, we are a close family, and I think we all feel the togetherness here!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That is so true Linda. I'm really happy for Kel and Jaye. It has been a long time coming. Also, with Kel having a permanent job, his parents are going to have to find someone else to "dump on". This could be a greater blessing than we thought!!!

good morning
hooray Kel got the job hooray .
well i need to get a move on
lots to do today
got a birthday to plan, no parents have called me so far. Guess i ask to much ?
so i will get extra food just in case. one mom i have a feeling is going to dump her other 3 boys on me ! uuurrrggg. she doese this a lot. I think she suffers from depression so its a realif for her to get rid of the boys even for an hr ? but they are a wild bunch !! oh my . no manners at all.
well ta ta
(()))) to yoiu all

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Whose Birthday Sue?
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, and there is a fresh monkey bread on the counter for you all to pick on!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

crit, did you get tornados? are you ok?
jaye, so happy for you and kel.

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

LInda may I please have two big chunks of monkey bread?????

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you sistahs. ^_^ I slept well last night.

Linda, he'll be working on night shifts where the money is more.....and he says he'd be able to keep the shop open for half a day to "help" subsidize his parents' income.

Barb.... (sigh) again, I leave that to the Lord. He'll soon find out it's not easy working 12 hrs. at night and thinking you'll go to bed right away once you get home. I've worked night shifts, and I didn't go to bed till 11 and wake up around 5 p.m.

I know it's his parents' idea. But can you understand the "Stockholm Syndrom"? Or better still, like a dog who's been badly abused by the master, but still will defend the master to death. Thanking a very concerned sistah for this anology.
Again.. I'll leave this to Jesus who will do only what's best for Kel. Fighting against the devil by yourself is a futile effort.

BUT I am grateful that the first step towards a better financial life has been set by Him!!

Sue, you know you will tolerate your friend's kids. You're a good mama. Maybe Savannah's and Austin's good manners will rub off on them?

Patti.. you're here?

Sis Kathy.. Robin too was fearing the tornadoes too last night. Got to check on her.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Anita, you stick to us like white on rice, okay? We would love that!!!
We promise not to boil you!!!

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

I'm connected to your hip cravin Monkey bread! LoL Linda you must have a good Monkey Bread recipe???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I cheat. I use 4 cans of cheap biscuits, each biscuit is cut into 1/4's. Then roll them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Place them in a greased bunt pan. Then in a sauce pan, I bring to boil, 1/2 cup of butter, and 1 cup brown sugar. Once it is all melted, and looks like syrup, pour over the biscuits. Be CAREFULL! This is really HOT!
You can add nuts if you prefer. Bake at 350 for about 45 min. I cook it a bit longer, cause I like it crispy. remove from oven, and turn onto a plate and serve. Once again, please be careful while turning onto a plate, as it will drip and this is really HOT!!!

(Anita) Fort Wayne, IN(Zone 6a)

Whoa Linda! I'm in trouble now!!! That sounds so good! I may serve this to my son for dinner tonight. LoL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Sis Kathy.. at least he got a comfortable lap to seek some comfort!!! One good reason why fat is necessary, huh?

No coffee for me this morning, LK. I'm nauseating.
I just hope I didn't catch anything :(
A good day to be ill as it's gonna rain soon. So, a good excuse not to do anything but slump in that recliner and watch tv.
Has the pain subside some, LK?

Have a better Saturday than me, sistahs!

Pssst.. LK, thank you for that monkey bread recipe. I'm gonna do one for Kel. He doesn't like nuts, so it will be cheaper to make!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaay - Kel has a job (albeit a night shift......) - this will help his "ego" tremendously, I'm sure. Jaye - take care of yourself, PLEASE!

Patti - sorry to hear the company's closing.

re:church's closing - it may just be that fewer people are going, and they're combining two church goups into one building? I've seen it happen before.... was in the middle of it, in fact. They put both churchs up "for sale" and the one that sold first, meant everyone started going to the other one. Happened to be the church I belonged to, partly because it had an elevator people were happy, but the other church had a balcony, was older with beautiful stained glass windows - absolutely gorgeous, which is why it sold so quickly I guess.
