Amen
Betty I just finished a card to Ann & Mike last night, but am hesitant to send it now that things have gotten worse. If I change my mind through the night it will go out tomorrow, but I'm praying that his suffering does not go on long. Please give her a HUG from us and tell her we are right beside her on the journey they are taking and God be with them. We are thankful that you are there for her. My heart just cries for them, but I know God is there with them.
Crissy sorry to hear you are feeling so miserable. Hope you get better soon. Does a heating pad or ice packs help relieve some of the discomfort.
Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends!
I'm thinking a heating pad might but no one has one here, it'll have to wait until I get home. My neck is in a crick.
Oh Shirley, send it....it will mean much to her...regardless.
Betty, is there no such thing as Hospice care in Canada? That is what he needs, and for Ann also. They even brought liquid morphine to the house I could give mom those last days, to help her with the pain. She never once cried out in pain. His docs should be as compassionet.
Lots of hugs and prayers to all of you
Debbie
Crissy, about now you'll be heading home, sure hope the heating blanket helps...ouch..feel better little one.
We do have palliative care, Ann said she ran into a hitch, woman came out yesterday, because Mike was up and walking she thought there would be no need of her services ri gut now, Ann was calling, she was upset with this because the dr's are aware that Mike has a high threshold for pain and he was up because with lungs not working he had to be standing..one specialist said that they don't want to give him morphine right now because his body will get used to it and when he most needs it it will not work..now that's bull, who says this is the stage he's at and needs it...grrrr I sat and watched Roger go through same, kidneys had stopped, lier wasn't working, even his legs were swollen enough that they were breaking open..said liver couldn't break down pain meds so they would not give him any as it could give him a heart attack...oh happy days if it did...had to fight like the dickens even to put him on dialysis once, said it would be hard on ohm...oh well..did so and that night he died..no regrets, who would ever want to watch their loved one go through such a thing??? Took Greg to talk to specialist and ask if this is the way he'd want his dad to spend last hours...I'm rambling aren't I?
Shirley, please send the card, you have no idea what they mean to Ann
Debbie, know you've done this journey as well and other battling with much the same
Prayers for all!
Okay Betty the card will go out tomorrow. Yes I don't understand some Dr.'s reasoning, I know that I could talk to Tubby's Dr.'s and they would make him as comfortable as possible no matter what the out come would be. I would rather he go quickly than suffer in pain and be miserable. I know that some people just don't have it in them to stand up and demand things, but I have learnt to get that way. I can't tolerate people who come in to a home to help and than says something like that. They definitely are in the wrong line of caring. My heart goes out to Ann. It just makes it more difficult on her and she is trying to do this alone and what is best for Mike.
Tubby ate some supper so it won't be long before he'll be ready for bed. I will work on the carpet for awhile as it is just to early for me. The dogs are waiting for any leftovers I may throw their way. They look at me with those sad eyes. You think they were starved. LOL
Crissy I hope the heating pad helps and gives you some relief.
Well I had to stop and get Tubby to bed. He's done pretty good today. I got the places all primed and the ceiling primed. I need to pick up a different paint tray and then I can paint the ceiling and then the walls. I will take the toliet out and the vanity top off before I paint the walls. Oh ya I'm gonna take the light fixture down above the sink and replace it with something else. I'll have to go looking for that and I think there will be a hole to repair first. Funny how one thing leads to another. No wonder a person never runs out of things to do.
Good Night All and Sweet Dreams! Chat tomorrow.
Shirley
You can do a lot of things Shirley but DO NOT be playing with hydro...no,no,no! Now we'll all go crazy if we not se you post for awhile..everyone knows I attempt everything and anything but never anything to do with hydro!
Glad Tubby had a good day...
Now Now Betty I know enough to shut the electricity off at the box before I do anything. Tubby has been a good teacher and he'll show me how to do it correctly. I won't tell you what day or when I'm gonna do it till after I'm done, but it won't be for awhile. There's too many other things to do first. I promise to be a good girl. Good luck at Bingo. If it's too heavy to carry our winnings home call and we'll come.LOL
Judy, I am so very sorry about Buster. High five on the tools. Yes, I have two very handy sons plus Ric. Between them I get a lot of things done. Both the boys have their own homes but they can still be counted on to lend a hand.
Shirley, Hope Tubby had a good day. You will have a wonderful time in the gardens soon. Maybe Tubby will sit in the sun and watch you and keep you company while you work on your flower beds. Looking forward to some pictures this summer. Wow what a project you have on your hands. I know a bit about how to do things but I don't think I would tackle a whole bath myself.
Betty, Putting Anne and Mike in my prayers. Ric was with his brother the last two weeks and did hospice care for him. Having him there everyday really helped his SIL knowing that she was not the only caregiver and she had someone to rely on. I very much agree with your reasoning and rambling. I know not everyone has the same opinion on this subject. But to my mind making your love one comfortable even if it shortens their life is the right thing to do. We treat our dying animals better.
Crissy, Hope you will feel better soon.
I had a really nice day.
Betty Please pass on my well wishes too for Anne and Mike. And I completely agree with Holly, we let our loved ones suffer to much.
Also if you do feel worse please go straight to the hospital,, what would we all do with out you?????
Shirley ,, so glad Tubby had a good day and The people showed up today to do the photographs. I was in bed and Ralph would not let me get up, I hurt my back first thing this mornig so I was forbidden to get up when the man got her. They never sent the letter telling us what all we needed to do, So all I can do is hope that we did enough,,,,sigh. But it was not done and I am worried.
Judy,, so sorry for your little furry one. You would be an excellent squirl mommy...
Holly Ralph is just like your hubby,, and I would not trade him for the world, I am blessed to have him in my life.
Wish I could quilt, however it would really hurt my hands tooo much. I have a quilt that needs repairing and LindaKay has told me how difficult it will be so I am packing it back away to try to get repaired later.
Betty, How much are you paying for your dicronic glass?? I got mine fairly cheap on e-bay and then right afterwards it shot up in price!! I have it carefully packed away in a huge file cabinet waiting for me to have the nerve to use it. lol,, Wish I could call you to discuss it better, but all I have is a cell and no international calling plan,,, not sure how to do that anyway.
Ok,, Ralph went to work and I have snuck out of bed to type all this, Also trying to clean up a little, work for 10 minutes sit for 10 minutes,,, What ever I did sure does hurt.
If I missed anyone,, please remember to give your self a big hug from me....
Elffie
PS I told you all Ralph is my Knight is shinning Armor right?????
Ann just left, she was holding up pretty good by the time she got here..after she and I spoke today she got 3 calls from different providers...the one from the Barrie hospital said they has gotten lost between the cracks and that it would not happen again..gave her some ideas re pain. I.e tynenol 333 and that tomorrow a nurse will visit and will make sure that if breathing equipment is needed and morphine that she will make sure they have it as well.
So between all the calls she settled down. She wasn't going to come and said most likely she would not come tuesday nights anymore unless things improve somewhat. Mike wanted her to come tonight, said he would get a few hours of much needed rest!
In one of the conversations she had with the hospital today they said that one of the things they'd discuss tomorrow would be where he wants to die, hospital or home so Ann thought she should let him know it would be discussed so he wouldn't be shocked...she said for the very 1st time he said the words, "when I die....when I die I think it would be better in a hospital, not for me but for you so you won't have a hard time with being in the house afterwards"
Ann and I talked about different funeral arrangements, eulogies etc. Said I spoke at Roger's...SIL had the written words framed so off I went and got them, darts had a harder time reading them tonight then. Did when I wrote them..anyway, we shed tears and hugs and she left...now i' ready for bed..bit drained...
Will respond to all your posts in the am
P.s. Ann said to thank you all for the prayers and hugs..they are muc needed and there are no words to say what they mean to her and Mike!
Night all
Oh gosh... in tears... HUGS Betty for You , Ann and Mike... and everyone...
hard to reply with all my silly little notes after reading those last posts... It was difficult reading most posts because DH and DSD1 arguing loudly in the living room. She treats him so disrespectfully. me too. but that's to be expected...
Elf/Kris - what a fabulous picture of you two ! I'm wanting to know the event where this was taken... how old you all were ?
Dianne.. that's such an interesting history of your city ! Verona... beautiful and famous place... well... we just don't get many critters here in the city... if a deer or rabbit were sited... you'd think it was a famous person... LOL....
Bev... LOVE the daylilies as usual.. but that one actually looks like one I have... mine still seem far from blooming.... Wish you could have come to the LSU Spring Garden show Saturday... there was an entire exhibit on Daylilies....
Barb... Sure wish I could send the warm weather your way... I suppose there are folks who couldn't take our July HOT HOT summers... but I wouldn't trade this area for anything....
Debbie - will have to try Chicken Marsala... my sister Debbie had sent me a recipe a long time ago.. but it had julienned carrots and celery... do you put veggies in yours ? Is Marsala wine pretty easy to find? OH DEB & Crissy... SO Laughing at ya'll re: the duct tape... Yes Duct tape works on everything... is that what it will take to slow our Betty down a bit ? LOL...
Judy (BIG HUGS) for you for Buster... you tried hard... we also tried to save a squirrel once but couldn't. But you comforted and made him feel loved on his way home... Can't believe the guy who helped himself to your food ! GEESH! Didn't hubs want to 'tell him' something? LOL...
Welcome To Thea....
Holly - such a pretty yard... wish I could zoom in and see some of those plants.....
Shirley - you are such my hero... wow you get so much done... I'd love to try a few of the red hibbys....sounds like I would need to plant them in October or so... so plenty of time to put off........
Betty ... well the Talk went pretty well with DS19... but as mentioned he is a DEAR and So good at saying what momma wants to hear... so the telling is in what actions take place from now on out...
PROM is this Friday... all 3 teens are going ... even DS ... he is graduated but seeing this little girl who is a Senior. I think she is a good influence. He desperately looked for his suit today... remembered he 'loaned' it to a friend last year... so that was a fiasco....3 days away and still needs it drycleaned, altered, corsage, shoes, car cleaned, etc.......
Hope he pulls it together for his date because I know it means a lot to her...
Hugs to all,
Mary
Mary, the only veggies I put in the chicken marsala....is mushrooms and garlic....some use chalots? Not the other. My ex husband was actually related to the Marsala Wine people out in California. lol I boycotted it after the divorce. Since 25 years has passed...I think it is safe. It also works great with turkey breast.....but the favorite is either chicken or veal. It is rather "high end" at the Italian resaurants. Also, up here the Marsala Cooking wine is in the same isle as the vinegars, cooking wine and other cooking additives. Worse case, a liquor store should have it.
Awesome Deb So funny too... Thank yoU !
Elf - well it's a wonderful pic ! ((HUGS))
Had to share... got this on an email today... it's "Maryann" from Gilligans Island....but will def try this myself...

OH Mary, I have been doing that for two years now...and it really works. DH actually found it (he is a sick man an has a thing for MaryAnn) and sent it to me. I love doing it for potato salad!
LOL Mary I don't live in a city I live in a hamlet - you know the kind when you are out driving, ya blink and you miss it.Hope Brock can get his act together for his sweetie's Prom. Of course it is important to her!
My heart just aches for Mike and Ann - why is it that often people who are in a situation where they need help and compassion the system falls apart? Of course he needs morphine or something akin for the pain and the statement that he would get too used to it is absolute nonsense given the time line the Docs have given him. My sweet father like Mike, wanted to be at home right up until he knew his time was short. He had not communicated with words for days but that morning he said to my mam "Dr Neal (his doc), hospital NOW!" I know he did not want my mam to have memories of his death at home so she could hang onto all the wonderful times they shared in that home.
Judy how is Josh feeling tonight?
Crissy feel better!
Time to put coffee on, how about Irish Cream this morning? Yesterday my DH was in such poor shape physically I had to drive him into Kingston for his Physio. Poor guy! he is used to being the tough guy and handling everyone else's problems. Anyway when I was in Kingston I slipped over to a Timmy's and got us all some great donuts to share this morning - Old Fashioned, Sour Cream, Honey Cruellers, Dutchies and Honey Dip. Help yourself to one or 2 of these delicious treats! I buy Timmy's about once a year so they always seem out of the world taste wise to me.
Spent some time thinking about my invention to muzzle Canada Geese during the night - just not sure how to get it fastened on them so it will stay on.lol
Make sure you hug someone you love today and also make sure you do something nice for yourself too.
Dianne
Goodmorning to all.
And thank you Dianne for the donut.
Prayers for Ann and MIke. I hope Mike gets meds to be more comfortable.
Elffie Oh my I just love that picture. So cool. Hope your back is better today.
Shirley would love to see some pictures.
Just finished both desks will post a picture.
Hugs to all. Have a great day.
Betty has anyone taken your BP when the headaches are bad?
Volunteer day at school so will be back later.
Morning,
Dianne, with being up so early did you get to eat all the donuts? Honey driller for me please..ohhh coffee tastes delicious..
Ohhh ohhh with hand up, I've the answer to your invention quest?? Use the duct tape the girls are bringing over to tie me up...am sure there will be lots left over.
Sunshine today, birds are just a chirping, haven't seen a robin visually yet but think I hear their notes. Rushed out to put garbage out and I smell skunk..glad furies are in!
Dianne, did hubby tweak his back doing something he should not have done? How touching to know even in their illness they are thinking what their mate will later go through, God bless his soul?
Debbie, do you ever watch re runs of gilligans island, don't you just find it sooo silly and yet we so enjoyed watching it ions ago?
Kris, beautiful photo, when in Niagara Falls you can go to one of the shops and have your photo taken dressed in different era's..somewhere I've got a photo of me and the boys taken in civil
war era..don't know what they use as photo paper, almost faded to the point of not seeing, does look authentic now.
Mary that's a lot to get accomplished before the prom...such an important day for a young lady, sure hope he does her proud..every girl wants to remember the man of her dreams and her boyfriend prom night for the rest of her life! Lol I've been through those talks with the boys, they were always able to twist me around their fingers and to this date still can..
Judy how is Jake doing, cold any better?
Laura, you are quiet, starting to wonder if you are having back problems again..or...you just might be busy packing up the trailer with a destination in mind for the weekend.
Guess I should get a move on...
Darts, Frankie from breakfast television just said a weather front is moving up from the south..might even see few flurries to or row and again Sunday...girls girls girls...please keep it south of the border lol
Ah here you are Laura...sounds as though the desk project went well..look forward to seeing a photo of them! Enjoy you morning at school..
Good morning everyone,
Betty, a lot of those old shows, including Gilligan, I think "I sat and watched this?" OMG!
It really is that double edged sword with facing what Mike & Ann are dealing with. Yes, bad memories either way. Mom passed here, in our house. And you know, I actually find that comforting more than anything. She was in a safe...and controlled environment, without so many strangers poking and proding her. BUT, we had a horrible situation going on with "outside" family at that time...so it worked best for us. I hope that the docs "now on the program" with Mike & Ann, will help them follow thru on what is right for them and their needs.
I must have missed the donuts....dang. But I have coffee....
Here....share a cup with me c(_) c(_) c(_) how about a cinnamon roll? @ @ @
Have a good day
Debbie
Morning!
Dianne I'd love a donut, I think I'll have the sour cream. Just the name sounds fattening and delicious. I'll even have a cup of the coffee as it sounds great. I feel much better now. Thanks!
Betty am glad that you were there for Ann to talk to. I feel much better knowing that someone is going to come out and help her and do what is needed for them both. I will thinking of them and saying prayers for them. I'm sure the front will fizzle out by the time it gets that far north. Hope so. Drive careful as I know you will.
Kris sorry to hear you did something to your back. Try alternating heat and cold on it and do take it easy. We wish you good luck with the inspection, did they say anything to your DH on what they thought? Darn ins. co. they can be so inconsiderate. Will say a pray that all went well. Love the pic. of you guys.
Mary would you Dmail me your address please? I can't seem to find it. I'm bad. The seeds I'm sending are mixed and won't know what color they are till they bloom. I will try to collect some from the different plants and keep them separated this fall and the will mail them also. If you plant in different areas and mark them, the mixed ones you can give to family and friends as seed or wait till they come up in the spring and give them away. Just a thought. There's this Dr. that he wants the plants and not the seeds. Oh heck he just wants it all. Hope the kids have a great time at prom it does bring back memories. Will watch the video later after Tubby is up.
Debbie hope everything is going okay for you, have been thinking about you. How's the foot doing?
Crissy did you use the heating pad last night and did it help? Praying that it is a better day today for you.
Laura I will take some pictures and I try my hand at it.
Okay will go get somemore coffee and wait for Tubby to wake, he has stirred a few times, but not to wake up. Sometime it's hard to be quiet.
Have a great day all and will be back later.
Shirley
Morning everyone! Shirley your up early!
Hope everyone has a great day, and your weather is getting warmer.
LindaKay how are those fingers doing? Did you ever get a hold of the corporate office about them? I know that the weather is to warm up this weekend and I'm looking forward to that. They are predicting showers for us yet before then. It'll just help the ground thaw more. I see more green with each passing day.
Hope you have a good day also.
Debbie, Sunday morning the Lone Ranger was on, omg just had to shake my head, spoke in mono syllables, but I still watched it, loved that show..
Rain and snow tomorrow here..sooner it comes, sooner it will all be over!
Kris, trying to remember how much the dichroic glass was but very expensive..1/4 lb about $79.80
Linda, are you still having problems
Good Morning Everyone!
Didn't have a heating pad, had the cold front come through about 7:30pm and it took my headache with it. I'm sure the margarita helped too LOL
Betty Poor Anne and Mike!! That's horrible to have to go through all of this.
MMMMM SHALLOTS!! Yes I'm yelling, like a cheer, I love Shallots and haven't had any in a very long time.
Kris love that picture!! I've always wanted to do something like that. We actually have several photo companies in Hot Springs that do it, but we've never done it and it's 20 minutes from the house!
Yes, I got ahold of Best Western, and they said they are sending me vouchers for 12 free stays. One per month for the next year! They offered to pay for the hospital, and I told them that was not needed, as I have medicare. So I am happy, and I think they are too!
LindaKay I'm glad to hear that and that they wanted to make it right with you.
Crissy I sure it was the marquarita too. LOL! I can just see ya sitting there relaxing and enjoying the drink. Home remedies are the best ya know.
Betty that is some expensive glass. I would have to think twice about playing with it. I'd have to make sure I knew what I was doing first.
Off to work I go. Let ya know what I get done later.
Hey Mary - I found your address so you don't need to send it. Thanks anyways.
LindaKay, will they work at a Best Western in my neck of the woods?
Crissy, glad the headache's gone..no fun having one of them all day..
Boss is in today..what a difference a boss makes..lol
Sorry, he said anywhere in the USA!
Betty, someday I am going to surprise you and knock on your door! I'll have donuts in hand for coffee. Guess I need to get my passport first!
It's a must do LindaKay..doors are always open and unlocked. Lol. If I'm not in, make yourself at home...lordy I've so much to show you!
Flights are cheaper by far for you to land in buffalo...I'll pick you up..that's what I didq when Crissy and I went on our road trip..worked out fine...was laughing to myself, got add for cheapskates flights, one said Florida. $79.00 plus taxes which ranged from 185-247. Quite the deal right? Not
Must be a sunshine day in your neighborhood..see by how quiet it is you are all outside gardening...I sooo envy you!
Beautiful sunshine here but it is deceiving - it is very cold out. Moved a face cord of wood over to the house as it is supposed to sleet tomorrow. Ugh!
Lots of cracks and rumbles from the ice on the lake this morning - that usually means the ice will soon break up.
Betty I will put the duct tape on those *&^$ geese if you will hold them.lol I said to my DH this morning I don't remember them being this noisey and he suggested I have just forgotten.
Shirley I love the sour cream donuts - they are my favourite. They are more like a cake donut and so good.
DH is making his famous ham loaf tonight for dinner. I just have to do the veggies plus make sure I have a gallon of water chilled to drink overnight.Going to have fresh asparagus - our season does not begin until June.Wherever this lot comes from it is delicious. It was picked while the stalks were still thin and tender.
I lived in Oshawa too Betty at 1 point in time You must have lived south of the 401 if the train was close to your home. DH still has relatives there - the kids call it The Shwa now.
Linda glad Best Western is offering you some kind of compensation. Nice to know you can travel anywhere and there is a place to lay your head.
Amazon delivered some new books today so am going to read for a bit.
Dianne
Dianne, I lived on Grenfell..just off Park Street! Could walk up Park st. to the mall..thats about 35 years ago and was not the town it is now.
Darlene just called to ask if I was still contemplating going to Buffalo..once the nice weather is here and her in-laws are back from Florida she'll not be able to go..
Be back in a second but in the meantime, go watch this..you'll be glad you did
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ourhummingbirdnest-com
Awe Betty, that is so cool! Thanks for the link!
Imagine Linda Kay, eggs are as small as tic tac's
On bottom screen to the right there is another screen with amazing web cam pictures
I just now closed it as I have to get dinner ready! Amazing!
Becomes addictive doesn't it..such small birds, totally mind boggling..
Betty that's quite the link. Thanks. I don't have alot of luck getting humingbirds. I'm gonna try to plant more things that they like. What is the closet airport near you? I'm gonna look it up on the map also.
Dianne I can taste that doughnut yet.LOL I haven't had ham loaf in years. I'm not sure Tubby would like it. He said he would have some potato soup for supper. I'm gonna have some ribs and cabbage that is left.
I got the carpet laid, but I ran out of tape so will have pick somemore up. I think I'll take the vent outside and spray paint it as it's fairly nice. There a bit of a wind but nothing bad. It is still to rain tomorrow and Firday they say the wind will be gusty at 30 - 45 mph. Take the bad with the good. It'll help dry things out.
I better go sit by Tubby for awhile. I know he gets pretty lonesome when I'm in a different place for quite awhile.
