Morning everyone. Just up long enough to take more meds. Getting really tired of this congestion. Off for a hot shower.
Betty, hope you find out why your headaches are so bad today. What time is your appointment?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Betty by the time everyone gets here for coffee and sweets the sun will be shining brightly for all of to enjoy the new chat room. I can see the flowers blooming and grass is green and will probably need to be cut soon.LOL Enjoy the day girls!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Shirley and Tubby! Hope you have a great day!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Mary, Lovely pic of you and Belle. My daughter has a yellow lab named Savannah and black lab named Belle.
Wonderful pieces Betty.
Shirley, Today is a short day 9-12 just paperwork and things. I work a full day on Wed-Thrus and Friday night this week. Oh the bench is great it sits right near the potting shed Ric build me a few years ago. No more old saw horses and crates to hold plants. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, the steam from the shower will help a bit clear your head..have you been to the doctors for meds to help...bet you are shaking your head saying 'no' and afte you telling me to do so.

My appt, is at 4 and I doubt he can tell me anything today! Usually everything wrong these days he relates to old age lol

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

mornin' Y'all..
Dianne, we use skype ^_^ we talk to our DIL and grand daughter with it..so we can see how she is growing !!! and we talk to our "soldier boy" using skype !! I absolutely LOVE it...because It is so nice to be able to see them, and actually see that they are doing well....can't explain the "relief" when I saw him for the first time after he left the country!!! It is total time change, and the climate is so different, they are given a week to acclimate, without heavy training..it was great to see that he looked so good, not tired..etc.... so much nicer to be able to just talk, and see each other...rather than typing back and forth with a messenger program.....of course very glad to have that too....because if there is bad weather (sand storms) skype won't work, from over there....
Betty hope the doctor has answers for you today!! headaches SUCK...

LK sure hope you get all better fast, fast..

hugs and love to Y'all...i am gonna go sew!! Yup day off :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, I meant to tell you I use Skype also, and I have no problems with it! It is really nice. My Dad loves to use it when he makes calls, he loves to see everyone when he talks to them.
Betty, I have been to the Dr. He told me I have bronchitus, and gave me a Zpack. It is an antibiotic I take for 5 days. Today is the 5th day. I think it is spelled zithromyacin?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Well I got Tubby all bathed and now a, making him some pancakes for breakfast. I will eat also and go get ready to go to town. I have to check my list of what I need before I go. I need to get it done quickly so I can come home and clean up the mud chunks. We will go to his primary Dr. and get INR checked then dialysis then chemo and then anitbiotics. It will be a very busy day. I know he'll be exhausted when he gets done at the end of day. I have to figure out something for supper. It's hard not knowing what he will be in the mood for.Oh well!

Off to get something done.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you have meds Lindakay, usually they are working by the 5th day..perhaps you can have it renewed.

I'm sure Shirley that Tubby will just want to come home and relax after all that prodding! Do they decide each time you go wether or not they will give the chemo?

Thunder, can see you smilling from here, not only a day off but a day of sewing in front of you!

Got to tell you about something that happened this morning..2 views on same event.

Dropped in to fill my car up at the gas station/Tim Hortons at the corner of work this morning. A man, perhaps in the 40's asked me if I knew where the local churches were, told him not as I didn't live in town. He said he and his wife had just moved here and he didn't as well, very well cleaned and versed..he began telling me that they are renting a motel room down the street, know where it is and it's pretty run down, and that normally they get a few groceries from the church at the corner but it was closed this morning. Said they needed something to eat and a bread/peanut butter jar and milk would do them! OK just last week I gave a woman $$$ for gas to get home to a town a bit away..do I have something written on me...ask Betty/ask Betty?

So I gave him $$$ and went on to gas my car. The line-up for those paying for gas was long, just in front of me was the man who was filling his caddy, well dressed, business man for sure..paid $60 for gas and about $20 for the car wash..bill was a bit over $80..after paying he said to the clerk that a man was out beggin in the lot and that he thought she should put a stop to it immediately.

The young lady behind me said loudly, 'you gave that poor man some $$$?' I said yes, she said "you'll be happy to know he went to Mack's Milk and has a bag of milk and bread in the bag and not sure what else!'

Loud enough for the man who was getting his change to hear, I said 'even though we don't have a lot of $$$ it doesn't hurt to try and help someone out, that's what we're all on earth for, at least most of us..and even had he not bought food and it was a scam at least we know we tried to help our fellow mankind!" Didn't smile at the man as he excited the gas station...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt and your mom having to deal with it like that. My grandmother (dad's mom) outlived 10 siblings, all her aunts and uncles, parents of course, and all of her 30 some-odd cousins, so I know where you're coming from.

LOL Mary if I hadn't got married on Earth Day in April I wouldn't have known the difference either. How nice of Belle to share the hammock with you! YUM crawfish boil!

Betty LOVE the jewels!! I love Love LOVE that blue/black picture frame! I love blue!! How nice!

We are having to replace the tires on my yard cart,, humf,, could have waited to blow til after I was done with the yard,,sigh.. I guess it was not a really good idea to put a 300 pound pre-formed pond full of a lotus in it??? But the lotus is now moved and in its new home and I can get other things done now!!

Betty glad you are going to the Doctor, I will be on tonight so you can tell us how it goes. Also love to see the progress you are making with your glass work. I bought several pounds of dirconic glass 3 years ago, it was soooo expensive that I am scared to use it. Silly huh. One day I will be getting all that out and making cool things ,,, I hope.

Mary, so hoping you get to go to the RU. Would love to meet you in person, wonder if I can get Crystal to go? Love the pictures of your yard!!

Shirley hpe you and Tubby have a good day, I agree he will be exausted by the time you get home. I will be thinking of you both today.

It is hard to believe that my mom passed just 5 months ago, it still does not feel real to me after all this time. Every once in a while I pick up the phone to call and ask her a question and then remember I cannot. I have not talked to my father in 2 months, my sister lives with him and had the number changed to a non-published number. I am a little envious of you all here to have such close and loving families. I have adopted you all as my family and get great joy and comfort from knowing I can always come here and find such caring and thoughtful people. Donot know why I am venting this morning, Sorry....

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Betty that was quite a story, and God bless you for wanting to help the man out. The guy who complained will probably never know what it is to give without expecting something in return. I feel sorry for him. I'm sure it was comforting to know that the man actually did buy groceries. I been there myself to give and not know wether it was a scam or not.

They draw blood from Tubby at the cancer center and run it quick (it's called a CBC) and it tells us what his counts are and then the Dr. okays it to give chemo. If it is not right then he can't have it. It usually means his hemaglobin is too low or white count too high which means he has an infection someplace. It also tells us his RBC and numerous other things. It's kinda hard to explain it all.

Well i need to go start the vehicle and let it warm up and get Tubby loaded for the day. See ya all later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ouch, not good having to replace those tires Kris, could you not have emptied (although a lot of work) the lotus pond prior to moving, guess you didn't think it would squish the tires..drats, that's not a good way to start a Monday! What kind words, yes, worry about you all, like hearing what is going on in your lives and want to go in search of you when MIA like our Debbie has been for a few days! Feel fee to vent..
As for the dichroic glass, talk about expensive, think I can buy gold just as cheap..been searching the web to see if I could order some cheaper than what I can here..Darlene is going to check what she bought at Hobby Lobby, she's almost sure she bought a piece that was about 1 1/2 " wide by about 3 or 4" long for $6.98 if it does work with the etching then we'll make sure that's on our list of purchases..silver is hard to find..hate doing test pieces when it's so expensive.

Crissy, had to go back and check which glass holder you mean??
What did you and Dave get up to this weekend, anything exciting?

Verona, ON

Still ice in the bay Betty. It was starting to move away from the shore but since we have been blessed with colder temps again the melting has stopped.
Thanks for the info on Skype. I think I will email my DN who sent me the invitation to Skye and a free download and just see exactly what this free download entails.
Don't care how cold it is theis afternoon I am going outside for a bit.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Thunder, I hope your "soldier boy" remains safe and well. I was at an airport when a huge group (several hundred) were heading out. So moving seeing all the young men in their uniforms, some with families saying goodbye.
Linda, That Z pack should fix you right up. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I'd rather give a few $$ to someone that doesn't need it than not give it to someone that really does.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Skype, can any computer be used for skype or must it have a camera built in?

My feelings exactly Holly!

We lost a Canadian soldier yesterday..first once since mid December..prayers for his family!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay did you try with my incoherent post try to download dragon dictation?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

camera does not need to be built in, but you do need a camera if you want video chat. without camera you just have the chat part. skype can be used on the smart phones. most smart phones have cameras. some have the camera that faces to you so you can do the video thing....

thanks Holly

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty the blue and black, looks like a picture frame from the picture you posted.

We didn't do anything this weekend, well I should say I didn't do anything this weekend. Dave did a bunch of stuff in his veggie garden as usual, but since I have nothing to do out there but piddle around I didn't go out, 45* is too cold to be piddling around, so I didn't do anything and it was wonderful.

My new phone has Skype but I didn't really care for it, I think it's more of the fact that I don't have the patients to figure it out at the moment.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I did download the program, I have tested it out, but I can't figure out how to copy and paste on the ipad? I was up at 6 with Todd, but was back in bed by 9 for a 2 hour nap. Sure hope that stuff works soon! I am soooo tired of coughing!
And Bless you Betty, for helping that couple!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

LK how about hot tea with lots of honey?? or honey and lemon???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just had a cup of lemon tea. If I have any dairy products, or sweet items, it makes the flem even worse. Even sugar in my coffee, or a soda, make me cough.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Just read an article in Prevention Mag that says a tablespoon of honey in your drinks is a cough preventive. I don't remember the science behind it but it isn't just an old wives tale. Just came in from working on one of the beds Spring clean up. It's about 46* but sunny and nice in a protective area.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Started cutting down on food and drink intake, don't like the sweetner so have been putting 1/2 teaspoon of pure honey to serve as my sugar, not sure if it means I'm taking in double the calories, will have to check that one out..

LindaKay, when you are on the dictation screen you will see on the very upper right hand corner an icon that looks like an arrow with line underneath...at that point it says you can send the messag via email, or facebook, twitter etc and also word copy..

After clicking copy you can go to you thread and in the post area of your screen , touch the screen and the word paste comes on..voila, little to no typing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, just wondered if I had to have built in camera in my computer?.. I'm lucky, Kyle comes over and has the patience of Jobe, explains everything in great detail...lordy I have some neat toys and don't play with them as I'm a visual learner, forget these 2" manuals..takes all my time to figure out the wii and that's simple enough.

That is cold Holly, don't stay out there too long or you'll be in bed with a cold..Crissy is wise playing inside when it's only 45 degrees!

Holly, by the time I get home tonight I'm hoping you'll have posted all about you workday..know it's mostly paperwork and orientation, but still interesting!

Anybody hear anything from Debbie?

10 more minutes and I'm off

Verona, ON

Holly I forgot to wish you Good Luck your first day on the new job!! Hope things went smoothly for you.
Debbie posted some pics on FB today or maybe last night. Think the poor gal is just plum tuckered out.
Was quite cold and windy outside this afternoon. How about where you are Betty? Needed a coat and a hat!!
Need to check the larder to see what I can put on the menu for dinner tonight.
Do hope Betty that Mike gets his wish to get out on the water in his boat. DH said he wished we lived closere because he would have taken Mike out. Is it opening for Bass down here it is Pickerel?Yum pickerel is my favourite fish - tastes divine.
Laura what are you up to today?
Judy is Jake all pysched for his Wrestling meet?
Crissy are you still 'liking' your car?
Dianne

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LK I get Bronchitis all the time and the Zpack will make you feel a lot better but to get rid of the cough I always have to use some sort of steroid inhaler, I have Advair and it works great but the last time he gave me something else and it worked even better, don't remember what it was called though.

Dianne I love my Toyota!!! LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Oh my gosh, I didn't think I would ever get back on here! I have gone non-stop since Friday, and I am ready to fall over.

The play was very good Friday, but something was off with the sound/timing. The kids worked thru it and did a great job. However, it was VERY long, started at 7:30...and was over at 10:15ish. Between my MIL and I...we were hurting from sitting so long.

Saturday was Soccer tournament, a great game, they lost, but Shanes legs got chewed up big time form the astro turf. He was really bounced around out there....and sore. I ended up staying home Saturday night from the Musical...I just was in no shape to do it. DH and I did some grocery and errand running. AFTER the play, the kids had a cast party.....and I ended up going to get DS at 1:30 a.m.!! I didn't get to bed til a bit after 2:00 and was up at 7:00 on Sunday.

Sunday I went to the play, again a good performance but so dang long. I will say Barnum is NOT one of my favorite shows. But, it was interesting and amusing. I will post some pictures later....I did post about 80 of them on FaceBook for the kids in the play.

THEN, last night while getting ready for bed....I lost one of my contacts! This is NOT good. Have crawled all over that kitchen, used a white sock, had the kids looking...it just disappeared. SO, now I have to call the doc and see what he wants to do as I am due for 6month exam end of April...but can't wear this old one, it is painful.

THis morning, I was up at 4:30a.m and had DH helpig me look for the contact....they are so darn expensive I don't want to give up looking.

I left for Rochester at 7:15. Got to the Docs right at 8:30. Long story "a bit shorter" there is good news....and there is bad news. Doesn't it figure? The good news...there are no tears in the rotator cuff. HOWEVER, it is totally inflamed, as is the bursa sack and muscle down the scapula area. WIth this inflamation....he does NOT feel comfortable with me having surgery right now. YES, I need surgery, but I need to get "in shape" before surgery or it will not help at all.

SO, I had an injection (OUCH) in the shoulder & bursa to help with inflamation.....and have to have six to eight weeks of PT twice a week, to build up my muscles and get me "ready" for surgery. He is worried if I have surgery without this PT first...I will not regain much use afteward. Ugh.

SO, Bessie Lou.....update to you please.

Hugs to all....have really missed you!
Debbie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good grief Debbie! Glad you made it to the play, even though it was long, I bet it was enjoyable. That sucks about no sleep, and the shoulder is the same surgery Dave had on both shoulders, at different times of course. Astro turf is horrible for bare skin, think they would come up with something a tad softer. That sucks that they lost too, poor Shane.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can breath now that you've posted, old mother hen worried about her chicks..You certainly can't say you lead a boring life can you. Glad Shane's play went well but Ouch on the Astros turf..will the needles help ease the pain? Will you have to drive far for your physical therapy? Are you disappointed? Drats, now you have to get new contacts...Debbie didn't realize the hamburg spring craft how is this weekend..wish the would have sent me the ad sooner, might have gotten some girls together and gone.

Laura, got your parcel today, such pretty christmas fabrics, I can see them in many of the Christmas rows I've left to do..cannot find plaids here so I'm thrilled..you'll see them in my next rows...again, thank you!

Crissy, that's pretty powerful stuff you take, you've always had bronchial problems?

Dianne, bitter cold here, wind goes right through you. You'd never know from the sun shunning through the windows that it's that cold.

As for my appointment , got to the office and realized I left my purse at
work, darts and more darts, no $$$, no glasses! Di not wait more than 5minutes to be called in. We had a nice chat, he said he was concerned, making an appointment for a Doppler (?) in the midland hospital and an MRI in the Barrie hospital..nurse made sure that I knew the MRI might not be until July IF that soon, told her I might be dead by then. She did say that once I have the appointment she'l give me a number to call to be out on cancellation list. Asked him if it could be whiplash and he said not likely but possibly..told me we'll do the brain scan first then see the outcome..maybe it will rectify itself in the meantime!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Betty, Betty I and everyone else knew you ahould have went sooner, but we are just thankful you went now. That is the only thing about socialized medicine is it takes forever to get things done. How soon are they gonna do your Doppler and the brain scan? Please do take it easy as too much activity and stress are not good. Okay? We are wishing you the best.

Debbie it's good to hear from you. You have been one busy person. Take it easy with that shoulder so it gives it time for the inflamation time to subside some and I guess it makes sense to strengthen it up before surgery. Do take care of yourself. Glad to hear you had a good time but a long time at the musical and hope Shane's legs heal soon. Manmade stuff isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Sorry to hear that they lost the tournament, but it's always a learning experience and one they will remember. Debbie are your contacts ones you don't have to change often? Hope you can find a simple solution to your dilema.

Well, our day started off pretty good. Tubby had a bath, ate breakfast and rested till it was time to go. He decided he didn't want to go and have his INR checked today so will do that Friday on the way to dialysis. I got my chores done and went to get him. I noticed his BP was running a bit low today on their machine. We went and had chemo and was at Outpatient Clinic and his BP was still low and heart rate high. He became cold and clammy. We had to do his BP manually and it was still low and color not good. He would not let me take him to the ER. On the way home he told me the right lower side of his mouth was numb. That man irritates me sometimes and it still I wouldn't trade him for the world. I'll just keep close tabs on him tonight and if I am not sure I won't work in the AM. His color has come back and he's not cold and clammy like he was. I will probably take a BP before I go to bed. Like I've said before he keeps me going. The nurses were leary about me taking him home, but I told them it's okay and I knew how to dial 911. I doubt that he'll eat any supper as he just had a bout with nausea again. That moving him around is hard on him but we don't have much of a choice.

Okay that's enough of my day. Hope everyone else's is having a better day.

It is snowing out there like crazy. Big flakes and they are sticking. I didn't get the ramp covered, but I'm not going to worry about it. This stuff should end tomorrow sometime and melt right away. It's suppose to be up to 60* by Friday. Yippie!!

Check back later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes Shirley that is not good! It's a wonder how you can sleep nights..thank the Lord you've medical smarts, shucks, I don't even know what side my heart is, lol, that about tells it all...I'm sure tubes in good hands.

When I was gabbing with the doctor I mentioned that after listening to my mom continually going to the doctor that I try to only go when it's absolutely necessary to make up for it...told me I was the opposite, most likely I'd be die due to not taking health issues seriously..went on to say something about getting older and I said 'just knew you would say that..lol, told the girls on my garden group you would..." he started to laugh, said, surely you didn't" yes I did...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I knew about the craft show, but I was VERY leary telling you because you have not been feeling well. I think you need a good rest!! All that and the driving/stress is not going to help you.

Could they get you an MRI on this side of the border like they were for your DM?? If they could...you get over here and I will take you to the Mom my Mom went to...they were awesome!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, you little imp, keeping a secret like that lol..you know me well and yes I'd have been there Saturday morning when the doors opened. Doubt I would have though because I really haven't been up to much this past month.

Watching people walk down the street, all bundled up with hats/scarves and coats, even the doggies are wearing their sweats lol

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Debbie, Oh the life of a busy Mother. Sometimes I look back and think how did I do all that. LOL If you want to have another try at looking for your contact turn off the lights and get on the floor with a flashlight. Shine it across the floor at an angle. The contact should sparkle when the light hits it. Too bad about the shoulder surgery.
Betty hoping for good test results in the doppler test. That is terrible to have to wait till July for an MRI. You will be in my prayers.
Shirley, Those stubborn men of ours. So frustrating some times, but you are right I wouldn't trade Ric in either.
So here is the story and picture for tonight. Several years ago I went for an overnight trip to the Beach with a couple of friends. Ric kept saying if I want to we could stay a couple of nights, don't hurry home. I knew he was up to something but I had no idea what. When I came home I found this lovely little potting shed in the driveway. He and our youngest son built it for me while I was away. It wasn't even something that I had asked for, he just thought I needed one. It is all built from scraps with a brick floor and he had it all decorated up for me. The new flats bench he made for me the other day will sit right near the potting shed.

Lyndonville, NY

Holly, thanks...that is exactly what we have been doing to find the contact last night. THen "mopping" the entire floor with a damp white sock...to pick it up ...using my hand. Ugh!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Holly what a darling shed and that was so thoughtful and sweet of him. When you least expect it they do the darnest things. I miss those days and I know that Tubby does also. I can still see the wheels turning once in awhile.

Betty I'm glad to hear you are grounded and can't go as you need to stay home rest, rest, rest. That is what Dr. Shirley is saying. Now how soon did you say you were having the Doppler done? You would have to have all your winter gear on here. You can only see a quarter of a mile. I'm hoping it doesn't last all night. I have already called into work and said I wouldn't be there as I don't feel comfortable leaving him right now. I probably unloaded the grain in record time when I got home. I give them more water tomorrow as they had enough for today and the chicks don't go out at night.

So Debbie did you find the contact?

I'm going to bed now and will chat in the morning. Sweet dreams and God bless you all!

Lyndonville, NY

Nope, no contact. These are hard lenses, not the disposable ones.
I have an eye disease, and can only wear special made hard ones. It takes at least two weeks to get them at $150 EACH lense. Sigh. BUT, I am going to keep looking. My worse fear....the dog ate it laying on the floor.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !
Oh Debbie (sigh) I do hope you find it... and things turn better for you ! LOVED hearing about Shane's performances... we always tried to go to several as well... each would always be 'different' even if supposed to be the same LOL....

((HUGS)) Dianne... My sis and family used Skype when Niece was at school in Italy... and loved it... now she's back and talks to her fiance who is in Afganistan...but only from time to time.... "Deer resistant"... i always love reading that on plants... now I know someone who would be paying attention to that! LOL... I'll think about you...

Betty - we have a small "pre-formed" pond... (thank you Kris for that word... I couldn't think of it) but DH has lined it with flagstone and it's quite pretty... I've NEVER seen such a yellow bird before...and never seen a bird shower in our pond so yesterday was quite a site !
I think you need that MRI sooner... Liking Deb's idea....
Shirley... If you get around to hibby seeds... I know you have much on your plate so don't put it on your 'to do list'... just your 'oh ... by the way' list... We do have the pink hibby... I think you have red ones... Tubby had sent me some but now thanks to you... I know what I did wrong was to plant them in the Spring....

Betty LOVE the jewelry ! how pretty and brilliant... yes... when you go into business... I'll buy stock in your company :o)

Holly - LOL yes - Vet said Belle is half yellow lab... half terrier. folks on here remember it took us MONTHS to name her... finally hubby came up with Belle... he thought it was original till I showed him it was the #1 name for Dogs for 2010....

Crissy - EXACTLY... "Very nice of Belle to share the hammock".... ROFLOL !!!!

Kris - i'm "with you gal" as they say...sometimes I feel these ladies have adopted me.... lost my maternal Grandma and Mom in 2004... Dad is still around... but ..... one reason I'm so excited for you ladies who still have folks at 92 ... and hoping to visit Grandma's sister in Birmingham...she is 92.... I don't have any Grands left.....

I'll pop back in a bit... Glad to have a 'good day' yesterday... because today was a "challenge" and I'm going to have to have a talk with DS19 when he comes home from work.....

Hugs,
Mary
