Elizabeth, those windows and insulation are gonna pay for theirselves in no time.I know you are enjoying that porch!
Charleen that is a beautiful picture.Everything looks so green.I can breathe better just seeing it.What is the pink flowering tree/big shrub(?).And what are all those small yellow flowers way off, on the right?
There are several flowering trees and bushes here in this yard, but none of them are doing much yet...just tiny buds. The daffodils are ready to pop, but this cold spell has slowed them down.
Dee
Brugmansia seedlings
Charleen, I am moving in with you, so make room! LOL I have a Cherub for you, too. Do you have one already?
Elizabeth I LOVE your windows. I can't wait to get going on mine. Love your plant stand too, those old sewing machines are beautiful.. that is what I learned how to sew on, a treadle singer.. Your Cherub brug is about 4 ft tall now, Elizabeth.. gonna have to send it soon, or we will have to chop it down and start over kiddo..
Retta, those plants are looking good, girl! Don't ya just love the cane begonias?
Dee.. Those caladiums are awsome, I will save one for ya. Your Cherub is awaiting you also.
Cold and gloomy here, but supposed to get into the 70's this weekend. too bad I have to work.. boo hoo..
How long does it take from planting a seed to getting blooms?
Charlene, just Beautiful, a great sight to wake up to, looks like Spring has Sprung for you Girl
Dee, I do enjoy my backporch until it starts to become a catch all, then I have to clean it out again
Retta, the warm up is on it's way Friday, I usually put my Brugs in the ground, the 1st of April but this year, I might have to wait another week, are you going to trim the Begonia? I had one of those they do get huge
Debra, I'll be so glad to get that Chrub, that has been on my list for awhile, I finally got a Rachael
Kay, welcome, good to see you
Elizabeth
Kay, it took me about a year and a half to get a bloom from a seed of a brugmansia/ I have seen others post about 9 months. depends on when you plant them I think..
Thank you all. It is so pretty. Don't have that sight out my front door but I'll get you all a pic if you want.
Charleen. I love brugs and will give them all a try....Thanks Debra.
that is a pretty sight from your back door, lots of room for brugs, move over ,i'm moving in,lol
charleen,hows yor begonia doing?
yes elizabeth,i'm going to cut it back again, and hope i can find good homes for the cuttings.
retta
Lilspirit, my MIL had an angelwing Begonia like yours - it went to the ceiling and back down and started UP again - it was massive and loaded with blooms.
My little begonia is growing. I got to get you a pic, I love the leaves.
Debra,I planted mass caladiums one year, at the other house. Got in on one of the co-ops, from Bill, and ordered lbs. of them. They were beautiful! But I have never been able to winter them over so, I sent them to some southerners, come fall.
Elizabeth, I'm ready for our warmer weather this weekend, how bout you? Still need to cut back some ornamental grasses, and put up some new birdhouses.I love watching the birds, almost as much as plants.Hey Elizabeth, does you red honeysuckle have any little leafbuds on it yet? My small red one doesn't show any signs of life at all, yet. I'm hoping I didn't lose it over the winter.
Dee
I have one rooted goldflame lonicera left over if anyone wants it..
I hope my red lonicera sent to me takes hold.. I collect those things like I do brugs..
I found some mealey bugs on a Frosty.. so I sprayed windex on it and the soil.. Geeze I hate those things! Will they never go away?
I have to find a soil treatment to kill the eggs I guess.. I hope the winter killed the eggs outside.. Gosh dang it!
Debra, I can always dig you another red honeysuckle.
Are you using Bayer Tree and Shrub drench - this stuff is awesome - I use it and have NO BUGS on my plants.
Charlene, I would love to see Pic's of your Begonia, BTW you take such nice Pic's
Dee, I am counting down the days till Spring, it suppose to be in one more day, the Honeysuckle stays green most of the year, it's full of Sparrow's right now, usually it's one of the first things to Bloom, we are meeting with the house inspector
today at 1pm, on the other house, hopefully we can get everything wrapped up by the time it's warm enough to plant Brugs
I'll have them at both places
Debra, I hope your red lonicera take hold for you, I had to water my Pure love Brugmansia yesterday, it was so dryed out
I am mixing up my Miracle grow to start feeding them, now that they're waking up
Kay, I use bayer to spray for bugs, not the Tree & Shrub, the other stuff, it does work good
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, now that you mentioned it staying green all year, I remember that, because I had a big one at our place in the country.I bet mine didn't make it thru the transplant last summer.Darn.
Elizabeth, tell us about the new place!
Debra, I would love the gold flame,if no one has spoken for it yet. I love them too.
Kay, I plan on trying the Bayer Tree and Shrub, this year. I bought a jug of it last summer, and forgot about it.I have hear that it's really good!
Charleen we need pics of that begonia, and anything green.
EEEEK!! I'm looking out the window and it has started snowing pretty hard out there!
Dee
Dee, I think you will be amazed at how well it works - say 'goodbye' to plant pests!
We are having some MUCH needed rain here in NW Florida - this will bring plants around - Spring has arrived!
Charlene, how cute they are, I love small animals, Max weighs 15 lbs, he is one huge kitty, I love your azalea
Dee, I will do better than that, the next time I go over there I will take Pic's, on the first floor, it's 3900 sq. ft, then the basement there's another 3900 sq. ft, it sit's on half acre, there's a small court yard at the front entrance, it's an all white, brick ranch, it has a wooden covered deck on the back of the house, we will have to get a riding mower, oh under the deck there's room enough for a nice size GH, you'll love it when you see it, just as soon as my DD gets the keys, I will go over with her, & take some Pic's, it has a big bowbay windows in the living room, just perfect for plants, it's a huge white
brick ranch, it has the cutest court yard at the front entrance, the people that lived there grew datura's, there are repairs
that have to be done, before we can move in you know how that is, we have some repairs to do here before we can rent this one out section 8
Elizabeth
Charlene your doggies are cute!!
Debra you use windex for mealy bugs? Do you use it full strength and it doesn't burn the plants?
Charleen, those babies are adorable!, and, so is the azalea! That kaluha sure is growing fast!
Elizabeth, now that's a big house! Sounds great. Can hardly wait to see your pics.It sounds wonderful. I sure do know how it is, when a place needs work, before ya move in.I'm sure you remember the pics of this house, when we were working on it. In fact, we are still working on this one, but the most important stuff is done.
Dee
Plants are fine now, no leaf burn, no bugs, but I am going to get that Bayer stuff, had been using 3 in one on the hibiscus and no bugs there..
Dee, both the viburnum and the weigelia are budding with leaves, that is wonderful!
GoldFlame will be sent your way..
My old fashioned lilac cuttings I rooted outside are leafing out.. YAY!
( I thought someone wanted one, but can't remember who)
Maya is about to bloom.. she sure is looking like she needs to be outside.
Okay I have this varigated striped Iris, have no clue what it will look like, got it in a RU year before last, it needs to be divided.. has anyone ever seen those?
Charleen your puppies are so cute. My Duke Dog is really having a hard time following me around these days up and down the stairs, but today Joe said his hair was on end and he was doing his "Hay, what the heck are you doing here" Yelp to a chiwawa next door. That made me feel good, to hear that.
Elizabeth I am so glad you get to move, I bet you are so kacited. It sounds lovely.
Thanks, Debra, for the goldflame. I brought a start of my variegated iris from the old house. I love the foliage, more than the bloom. To me the blooms are not great as far as iris go.Mine is a pale purple and kinda plain, not big and ruffly at all, but I do love the plant, because I am a varigated plant addict, and that foliage is a knock out, especially in the spring, when it is yellow and green.
Dee
I need to go to our rent house and see if any of my iris are coming up there. I just love iris! I'm going to dig some more starts of plants there to bring here ........ IF the lady watered them and kept them up. I sure hope she took care of my roses. I want to get some cuttings of them too.
Debra, I'd love to have a start of an old fashioned lilac. You sent me a 'stick' and I though it was leafing out but it didn't. I'm still watering it though.
Patti, do not give up on that lilac, it took mine all summer, all winter and now it has buds. I will send you this one if you want it, bare root, with some other brugs, since yours didn't make it that I sent earlier?
Dee, I up rooted your Cherub out of the huge planter, and it is ready to send to you, just need to see if there are a few other things going on here you might want as I thin out the flower beds..
here is Maya tonight.. she is about too..
Wow, Debra!!! Your Maya is coverd with blooms! Another one to add to my wish list.

Elizabeth

retta
Retta, it got up to 73 degrees today, it has been Beautiful, I have the window open, it"s the nicest breeze, I do remeber Dee
saying she had a sinus infection, those are awful, I sure hope she went to the doctor
I am also wanting to dig up my Brug bed, if this weather keeps up a week, I will start to put my Brugs out in the GH, but I'll
keep my heater handy just in case, I did bring some soil up from the basement to put on the Brug bed, I had some new small Brugs, that just dried all up, when I checked the roots, they were dry also, so I dumped the soil into a Miracle grow bag that I saved, now it's out on the Brug bed, I guess we're having the same weather, it's great though
Elizabeth
Good evening everyone, I am doing great now. I went to the Dr. on friday, mainly to get an antibiotic.
It got up to 79 here today.Oh what a beautiful blustery day it has been. I have been out unloading a load of manure.Hubby and I worked together, and took lots of breaks. Then we both took IBprophen...lol. What a good way to get warmed up for all the yard work, that is coming. Then I cleaned up somebeds and did some weeding. I swear some of those weeds were so green and happy, that I know they had to be evergreens, and grew all winter..lol
I will try to get on later this evening, but no promises. My 12 year old grand-daughter is spending the night and she is a facebook addict...lol
Dee
Good evening, Dee, Your box is packed to the max,,sending tommorrow everything except the old fashioned lilac.. it is getting ready to storm, windy but no rain, it got up to 90 today and set a record high, down to 55 tommorrow, and 34 tomorrow night ( wenesday am) and I have two brugs out, no three, we will see how they fare since they are mostly in protected areas. Smooth sailing after that, worked on the yard all day today, then my almost 30 year old came over and we went and got our nails done ( I never do that) then Joe BBq's us some hot dogs and hamburgers, , what a nice day.. oh and a friend at work came by and I gave her a yard full of plants, but she turned down the brug, even after seeing Maya in bloom. Elizabeth, your very tall cherub is going out tommorrow also. was that all you wanted?
Dee
I just stopped back in for a minute, I am so glad I did, I am so glad you're better, it was a Beautiful day, I brought P&C up from the basement, put it on the back porch, you have a good evening with your GD, they grow up way to fast
