Coffee Break #55 More rain coming!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, Northern Lights were visible in the upper states. Also, an Indonesian volcano erupted shortly after the quake.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

3000 people have been asked to evacuate near the plant.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Most of the western SA countries are now bracing.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Ugh! Those things have unbelievable power!

Thomaston, CT

Things are just compounding.....terrible tragedy! I remember the Good Friday tsunami that struck Alaska.....I have dreamt many times of standing on a cliff by the sea, & watching helplessly as a tsunami is approaching....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did you see the poor people trying to out-drive and out-run the wave?? How horrible.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yep, all that debris in the water makes it almost impossible to survive.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- That was a great link Jen, Thanks!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

My friend has a friend in Japan she's been trying to get in touch with her, no luck so far

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

hope she hears good news, sending prayers.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - meltdown is possible now. Can it get any worse?!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

yep... it probably can.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Quake has been revised again - to 9.1.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

meltdown...of nuclear reactors? Last report I saw said they were stable.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, meltdown. No AC power for hours. Pumps not running. Coolant can run out and heat can build up to disastrous levels. Hours to fix it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nukes in very seismically active areas is not the best of ideas.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cannot imagine the military cannot use choppers to get generators there quickly.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Not good, if Victor is worried about the nuke it's not good...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - I know too much!

South Hamilton, MA

radiation release comes over the Pacific driven by wind currents.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - so California should take a real deep breath. ^_^

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hope they do, Japan has had more than it's fair share of radiation poisoning. Actually, not hope they do, they MUST.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, that's what I meant earlier about being doubly tragic.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did you see that huge whirlpool? So freaky.

South Hamilton, MA

We have some relatives in OR & WA, away from the coast but they use the air. :(

South Hamilton, MA

Sort of like Poe's 'Descent into the Maelstrum'.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, I saw the whirlpool, I've seen waterspouts in the Caribbean and Florida, but that one is about 4x the size of what a waterspout makes!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow is that bus crash bad on 95

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

said 6 were dead so far

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the bus is cut in half... fell on it's side and got sheared by a sign post.. just nuts.. this article says 13 dead

http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/12/six-dead-as-bus-overturns-on-bronx-highway/

Haiti, Chile now Japan - whats next?

South Hamilton, MA

hope no more aftershocks in NZ.

Thomaston, CT

On a more upbeat note, the dead-in-the-water Huskies revived & are playing for the Big East Championship tonight.....

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Go UCONN!!!!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Don't forget to "spring forward" before bed tonight!

Man got hit with the stomach bug thingy Thursday night...slept most of yesterday. I thought I was feeling better earlier then wham it hits you again...body aches, chills headache...Hockey tonight, and my husband watches with his dad, so I have the remote all to myself for some mindless entertainment if I keep my eyes open long enough.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Sorry you're feeling poorly Ronnie, hope you feel better soon!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, awful about that bus. 14 dead.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I know that area where the bus overturned very well.
- Crazy drivers out there driving big rigs. The day before yesterday I was driving in the am when this 18 wheel flatbed truck flew past me in the pouring rain, he was cutting in front of cars left & right with practically no room left in between. - like he was driving a compact. In the pouring rain he would not have been able to stop even if he wanted to. People are becoming less and less patient, and more and more nuts!
