Reminds me of that movie, 'Waterworld'..

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Was that the one with Kevin Costner?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yeah! That's the one! lol!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

That link is depressing Victor!

South Hamilton, MA

I think at least that everyone must grow their own lettuce this year. So much of the winter crop in FL was ruined.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

They'll be plenty of lettuce from South America, that's where I get most of my veggies anyway... (lol)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I grow my own lettuce, having a rabbit as a pet guaranteed that crop! LOL

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I've never grown lettuce, but I did have rabbits, used to give them collard greens, cabbage, carrots with the stems (as treats). etc. They're in Urns now.. decided it was too heartbreaking esp for DW so I stopped keeping them..

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I try not to buy any foods that are imported, except Clementines from Spain...they are the BEST

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Ole!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I 2nd that Ole!!... I love them too

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Never even tried one.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

*gasp* oh you have got to try them...wait till next season when they first come out...make sure they are the ones from Spain

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

like candy they are so sweet

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Clementines are a tangerine, very easy to peel, juicy, sweet and sticky.
I love them too.^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sorry my browser bugged out... didn't think my 1st post went though... LOL

Thomaston, CT

Clementines are my fav winter fruit! They are about finished now.....bad time of year for fresh fruit....I usually stick to bananas & FL strawberries......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Love them!

Does anyone have front loader washers and dryers? What do you think of them? we are looking at some at HD and for the price I want to make sure I'll like them! I like the idea of not having to bend over.

East Bridgewater, MA

I've been used to the top-loader washing machines for the 50+ years I've been on Earth. However, I've come across two different articles in the past 7 years or so that say that front-loading washing machines are more efficient and effective.

My next one will probably be a front-loader, but I cringe at changes.

South Hamilton, MA

We still have a top loader washing machine. After a couple of times in years past of trying to retrieve laundry from a machine which had broken in mid-cycle, I stay with that type. Jumper 2 says that the front loader is better for doing horse blankets.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

after hearing my co-workers horror stories.. I would never buy a front loader.. he said it was delivered.. and they went to use it for the first time... something messed up the gasket and flooded the basement.. they delivered a new one and the same thing happened with the 2nd one... he said the clothes got caught between the gasket .. might have just been that brand was no good.. but I am not sure what brand it was

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I have an LG brand washing machine I bought at Sears about 3 yrs ago. It's a front loader. It uses considerably less water than the top loaders and the clothes come out cleaner too, It uses 'he' type detergent. So far It's worked very well, -no problems.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I just went thru all the washer research to buy mine...check out this thread over on appliance forum
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/653367/

Here's what I found...
Whirlpool even though they used to be great are now owned by Maytag which is absolutely the WORST

GE, LG(some service problems) and Frigidaire are the good low end. Miele, Bosch and Fisher-Paykel are the good high end

With the front loaders they recommend leaving the door open when not in use because mold builds up around the gasket( I don't have enough room in my laundry room to leave the door open)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

HI-
I came to see about your rain- loved that picture- but I am OK with my top loaders and wanna bet, since we built a new laundry room couple years ago, I bet if I wanted to change, that the front loaders wouldn't fit.
Its been steady rain all day, yuk for errands. I hear a mysterious drip over by the fireplace area..... I pitied the beast and took her for the ride. Guess what she did in Petsmart while I was studying labels.......

Hope you all stay above sea level tonight!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

HMMM... I think I have an idea Sally - what she does naturally?

It's a soggy, squishy mess out there.

My front load washer (3 years old) would not fill up with water. Had something changed and it did not fix it. If we went further it would of cost more to fix then to buy a new one. ~~it went out the door~~~

My theory anything more computer type driven will be less likely to survive then the turn dials.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I gave my wife a nice big rock for the laundry.

South Hamilton, MA

With luck, she hit you on the head with it.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

rotfl Iris

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's a top-loader.

Saved mucho bucks on my upcoming spring break vacation. The resort just started a 40% off sale and I was able to have it applied to my reservation!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Do you tip a barber / hairdresser even if he/she is the owner???

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I do Victor, she's been my hairdresser for over 20 years and when she finally owned her own shop I couldn't stop tipping. She needs to pay for the building too. :)

Here's a excellent story I just read made me cry as it's bitter sweet but they say crying is good for the soul.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, I tip the guy 3 bucks. But now I cut my own hair so I tip myself..

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me too - every time I shave.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I went to a stylist/owner a few years ago, he refused the tip. Jen, I have a Bosch dishwasher and it is absolutely great!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Bosch here, too, and I love it.

I've cut my own hair since I was about 13 and felt gassed going to a beauty parlor.
