Yano, if they would drop the rates and get off their duffs and do a little work at the PO, perhaps the economy would improve....
I cant beleive, our PO send all the local mail to a PO 60 miles away to a sorter so that the poor lambs dont get carpal tunnel.. meanwhile, the mail gets lost and misplaced, takes longer to get her and parcels come mangled a lot. They think every one has access to electricit, heat and a PC... Hello......lets just put more people out of work and on bread lines.. makes me sick.
Sorry for the vent here, but this is rediculous because we here are paying for naught.
THE GARAGE CAFE - MARCH - APRIL 2011
Hi there, BB -- I tend to forget about this discussion/chat area. Is this a general chat thread or is it dedicated to certain members and topics?
We all need to vent at times. There's so much to vent about these days that I can't settle on one thing. LOL.
Come on in.. its not a closed topic that I know of. A few of us pal around between several threads here so things mioght get a tad weird if your just coming in!
Seems we bounce from the Garage to the GPS, to the flora and fauna stuff!
and the Garage has been an on going thread for a while. It breaks the cycle when we get the urge to not chat about the topic that was on another thread! We just try to keep it off the political topics.. the admins will shut it down if we talk things like that that we really need to vent on but cant.
Some days makes ya want to go underground.. but itis what it is and so we also dont want to be offending or upsetting people if you know what I mean and I know there are a lot of peopel who could use a good cry or a prayer.
So curl up with your hound or cat or chicken or whatever and join the party.
Speaking of partry, jeez, been a long time since we talked food here or decorated...
Ya gotta watch Jon, he has a tendency to dress up as a coyote now and then. He has a gator.. not the wheeled kind eiter... Me, I get off in tangents with living on the prairie. Patty, shes my evil twin.. shes lurking, but recently thinks shes got a illness. Marti, shes off hunting some place. So whats your bag? let yur hairs down and get crazy!
Hmmmm... sounds interesting. Two cats to curl up with here ... and a DH. No children. Don't worry, I vent about politics elsewhere so I'll behave. :-D
Jon must be in Ft. Lauderdale with that gator? I spent four decades in CA so I'm usually considered a bit of a "weird-o" and "far out", but I don't usually know the difference. No drugs though. :-)
Besides gardening, my bag would be yard&garden art and T2T, walking/hiking, and I used to do some traveling. But not in awhile. Also used to be an avid reader but lately, not so much, it seems. Now I just like to look at the pictures in magazines. ROTFL. My gardening passions are succulents, natives, and perennials. Our yard is a Certified Monarch Waystation. Also enjoy birds but I'm by no means an expert on them ... or the butterflies either.
I am enjoying living in TN but really miss the CA weather and growing all those tropicals, fruit trees, and succulents without having a care about weather (at least 95% of the time).
Guess that's me in in a NUTshell.
So you have a little house on the prarie? ^_^
Blossombuddy, I'm sitting here eating fudge with black walnuts and getting ready to start making Strawberry Jam. Got a flat of strawberries for $10.00 at the flea market.
Well, its a little ranch house on the prairie.. 10 horses, a noisy blue heeler, a small flock of chickens and new chicks, the hub and the weed patch keeping us howlign at the moon here. And a pile of wildlife that we keep trying to protect and give refuge too. Its what makes our neck of the world go round on top of than being a Lord praising creation.
Been known to speak my mind here too.. and been counting the threads that have closed! Oops and owell.. LOL! Guess freedom of speach is not the full loyal order of business on occassion although I have not cussed on line in public.. but thought about it a whole bunch! Been askign the Good Lord to lead me to a better way. Yano, if its right though, its right. Thats all there is too it. Some people just gotta make a mockery of what aint. I will admint when Im wrong. Thhose that know me know what I am about especially those been with me a long time.
Yeah Jon is in Gator land.. him and his two lizards. (I think the gator is a rubber blow up in his pool though.. although he has a few in the hood that are not so "friendly") But dont tell Jon I said that.. !! LOL!
Bigred (aka Patty.. shes an Arkie.) Her and I go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. So far back infact I think her and I were the mothers of gardenweb in some magazine some place if I recall. Been so far long ago.. the grey heais get in my eyes trying to figure it out!She has a few knicknames! I do too, and most call me BB
You'd probably like the Redneck thread we got goign on here someplace too. If you search threads I started.. it will pop up. It was one of my crazier moments. And if you go waaay back to page one.. you will learn how! HA!
Marti, you sharing that yummy? Man strawberries at this time of year? Mine are still underground. Last week it was still flurring here. C'mon you sothern bells, send up the spring rain already!
Crud, I never do spell prairie correctly. Eventually I get it right. ^_^ Your place sounds great. Ten horses ... kewl. Where did they come from?
Know about the wildlife thing. We back up to woods. The neighbor's new boxer pup has been running off the deer this year, but General T Sherman, our resident groundhog, comes and goes and the raccoon was too up until recently. Several other groundhogs are no longer around ... must've found their own territory. Smell an occasional skunk back there too. :( Got squirrels, owls, hawks, lots of birds of many kinds. Big pine tree in the backyard is where they mostly hang out. I fed everybody this past winter. ;-)
I am typing while keeping on eye on the TV. March Madness, ya know. The Hubbs is a huge KY fan ... we were both born and raised there. I like basketball and this year has been a very good tournament year. I'm not fanatical about it though. Go Big Blue!!
Hello to marti001. I see you're in KY. I think you were in a swap I was also in earlier this year. Ummm, strawberries already???
I'd better go focus on the game. Back later.
Redneck thread??? Hee Haw!
^_^
Yes, strawberries! By the time I get them made into Strawberry Jam, I'll be looking for other fruit for jam.
When I go to Calif this summer, I'm bring back alot of elderberries. I know where to get them out there and will seal them in quart jars for the trip back to Ky.

Yehaw.. redneck thread..being an expert in spellign or grammer, NOT REQUIRED, but being absolutely rednech in gardening is!
The ponies here are latin decent! Smooth gaiters...pasos!
Hey , everybody. July 22 I am headed for a easy drive to Calif to visit my son and grandson for a month. I thought I'd try to meet some DG members on the way. I will be traveling out Hwy 40. So if anyone whats to meet up, dmail me and we'll make arrangements.
Morning. Gee, I'm late -- and already behind today. :(
What part of CA, marti? Are you the gal who does the gourd decorating? I've only been on DG for 9 months so still trying to meet people and making my way around to see where I might fit in without offending (too much). :-D))) I speak my mind ... except about politics and I promised BB I wouldn't. ^_^
Gotta run some errands then will check out the rednecks. LOL. Do you think TN is redneck territory? ;-) Back later (I hope). ^_^
Well, the Big Blue Nation is celebrating in KY. They "done won" and are on to the Final Four.
LOL! Well, its been a busy day with me.. if I ever get out of this office chair I do think that wil be a miracle in itself! I probably ought to do just that. Go check the chickens for new egs. or fill a water bucket up.. surele someone around here needs eats.
Sorry to bump and run, but I will be back! I must learn how to do "smiley faces" in DG!
Oh, C'v.. every whar is redneck taritery! Have fun!
BB, the smileys are done like this:
^ _ ^
but with no spaces between the characters.
Heading over to see the rednecks. Tee hee.
Well, well, well ... I checked out the rednecks ... huggergirl and I know each other and digger and I are acquainted too. Elena is in Nashville. I understood everything you all said over there. Is that a good thing? ROTFL. ^_^
Cville_Gardener, I will be going to Bakersfield, CA in Kern County to visit with friends and than down to Ventura County to see my son and grandson.
I will leave Somerset and my first big stop will be Nashville area. I see that you are just north/west of Nashville.
Yes I paint on gourds and am now selling them on another site and at our local Flea Market.
^_^
Ya got it!! Yippeeeeeee................
I'm familiar with Bakersfield and been there a number of times. I'm 50 miles northwest of Nashville. Where are you heading after you leave there?
When I leave Calif? I'm headed back to Kentucky.
On the way out to Calif., I'm stopping in Ark so visit a DG member and any other DG member who would like to visit with me.
Well that sounds like a plan there marti
Sorry, I meant where are you heading after you leave Nashville. Which route will you take?
I'm planning on staying on HWY 40 to Calif. with side trips to visit place and people. I'm meeting up with a DGer from Clarkville, ARK for a day. She going to show me someplace and her garden. I'm so excited I can hardly wait..
OK, then you are heading away from Clarksville when you leave N'ville. Thought I might be able to meet up with you somewhere, but I'm near I-24 and I-40 goes in a southerly direction out of Nashville and then to the west.
Meant to say ♥ those ponies, BB! ^_^
So if I were to take HWY 25 out of Nashville, I will run into Clarksville. Right?
I'm not sure. I've never been that route. I-24 is the way we go to and from Nashville, but that takes you in a northerly direction out of Nashville and opposite from the direction you want to go.
Sorry, it was HWY 24.I'll be coming down Hwy65 out of Kentucky/Bowling Green. So I can make the northward trip up 24 to visit for a few hours. I'll be taking a side trip out of Memphis to go to Jboro, ARK to meet ButterflyChaser also.
Yes, that's easy to do from I-65. That would be great! Let's do it if we can. ^_^
You got it. When its closer to leave time, I'll get with you on dmail for address, telephone #. And we can get it figured out.
^_^
Well, gang. I'll be gone for 3 days. Talk to you when I get back. You all behave yourselves and don't get into to much trouble.
Guess what? I'm back!! Surgery for my niece went so well that they let her go home today. It went better than they thought it was going to be. Surgery time 2 hours when they thought it would be 6-8 hours. I have to stay with her for 24 to 48 hours, but I guess I can do that. The only problems is she has no TV and not all the games on the computer that I have, so I'm stuck trying to entertain myself while she sleeps off the drugs they gave her.
I know a good book that will replace all those games.
Since Thursday night I have read three books. Working on the 4th. It warmer today and sunny, wish I could be at home working on my raised beds for my veggie garden. But she needs me here for today at least. Her daughter will be home tonight so I should be headed to my place this evening.
Well, you have our prayers mart, hope she recovers soon and blessnigs.
Thanks!
I concur with that. ^_^
