afternoon all my peeps:
well I got out and spotted all my cuttings from earlier in January are rooting out. yipee!!!! now if they will hurry up and grow roots. the tops put on about an inch on the phlox so I am going to take cuttings from them. everyone else is just starting to root out. I went with 3 cuttings per pot except for the veronica which was such a huge cutting in itself. about the size of a silver dollar. I am sure everyone is familiar with those.
The hosta bed looks great all the dianthus have about doubled in size and the pansies are really blooming their little behinds off. I found that I lost the tags on my dianthus in the cutting bed so they will be going into the hosta bed and will be replaced with fire and icepinks, fringed pinks, and a couple of other dianthus to be determined at a later date. It was the best move I ever made when I bought my 120 - 5" zinc lables. that way I wont loose the tags. I am also doing the same with the daylily bed so I know who is who. I hope to get flowers out of the other 2 un-named crosses this year. I also have a group of crosses from 2008 I am hopeing to see flowers on this year.
so far i have 172 -3.5" plants ready to be sold along with 28 red honey succle in 2x2 cells. if they don't bloom this year i will either dump them or blow them out as an unknown color thought to be red. I am fine tuneing the operation to where i will be able togrow through the summer for fall sales and then another growth through the winter for spring sales.
JB I would think missouri should be just about ready to go. I know my frost free date is april 15th. I hope this helps you with your shipping delema. I agree better safe than sorry.
Evelyn all my tyme is doing really well. Evedently they like the bed the pots were held in..
well my chinese has arrived so more later gator
Dave
Plant Propagation part XXIIX based on my own experience
Suppose to have high winds tomorrow. I did laundry, cooked and shredded a bunch of newspaper and junk mail today. I only stopped because the shredder got to hot.
I got up at 7:30am so I will be heading to bed soon. Tomorrow is suppose to be the last day on the irrigation. Let us hope so.
I have a HOA board meeting tomorrow night.
JB, your area is in the weather news again. I am so sorry. Jnette and Lee are a close 2nd.
Dave, glad your plants and plugs are growing.
I will check in sometime tomorrow. Later, Sharon.
OMG Evelyn, that is too close for comfort. Will be back later. Got work to do. JB
I am up after some deep sleep. It takes a while for me to recover from the trip. Tony came yesterday morning and helped unload the van. I'd awakened at 5:30 and got to work so he mostly just had to help with some of the big stuff, then went home with presents for everyone.
I didn't have any car trouble. The only glitch was when crossing the border back to Mexico. I got sent to a secondary inspection where there are men who are either idiots or just like to order people around. The third time they told me to move my van I dais no. Showed them my cain told them I'm in too much pain to keep moving the van around in tight spaces. They ordered; I declined. Finally extracted a promise that if I moved it once more they wouldn't ask me to move again.
Then I had Mr. A**hole who was in charge of filling out paperwork. I waited in line; when it was my turn he told me to step aside and allow the Mexican man who had just joined the line to go ahead of me. I protested; he waved his arm preemptorally (sp?) and the Mexican man gave me a big grin like "isn't it nice that he's taking me first." I said FU and went back to my van and my book and refused to cooperate further. It was hilarious. Men kept coming over and telling me I had to get in line. I kept showing them my can and telling them I'd been in line and then told to step aside so the "official" could take people who came after me. Showing them my cane, I explained, over and over, that I was in too much pain to be treated this way and i wasn't going to stand in line again, especially since I had nothing to declare and all they had to do was look in my van and see that. Then I sent back to my book, which fortunately was pretty good. This went on for almost an hour and they kept getting more cars and trucks sent to their crowded area while I mad it clear that if I had to sit there all night I would. They are not used to anyone standing up to them but they had behaved so badly that I was fusious and figured if the wanted to force me, they'd have to pull me out of the van and do a Rodney King on me. A 70-something gray-haired white
American Woman is not a resisting, drunk black man so we had q stand-off for about forty-five minutes. Finally, one of the men who had been unfailingly polite came over and looked in my van with a flashlight. He asked about the contents of a couple of boxes; I answered truthfully and he told me I could go. I offered him a box of cookies but he said he couldn't accept anything. I think they might have cameras installed to keep people from taking bribes, so some of the employees ahssle people instead. They are not used to being hassled back. I was exhausted from the encounter but also exhilerated. Tony loved the story as he gets hassles by the police here about a car registration and they have threatened to take his car. People with a little authority like to abuse it. Tony knows me and thoroughly enjoyed hearing about what I'd done.
I slept like a rock again last night; still tired from the confrontation and the trip but feeling pretty good. I got held up in another check point when I was almost home but didn't give them any grief and was allowed to pass with no problem except the wait.
I've got plants and seeds to deal with and Tony's here. I'll be back.
hugs, katie
Well Katie, you are braver than I am. I would have been shaking so badly they would have thought a more thorough check would have been order. Glad you are back.
It is snowing again, not bad, big fluffly flakes, guess it is par for the course.
ttyal, Lee
Stopped in and saw Katie's post. Had to read that. Go Girl, that is the way to be. In control.
That is a long trip for a woman alone, but you are much braver than I would have been especially considering the location you were dealing with. I will throw my weight around the USA but NOT Mexico. Their jails suck.
The weather here is now settled. The rain stopped and what a rain that was, flooding all over the place , not where I live, thank God. We are on a hill. Anyhow, the sun is out but the winds are wild again. I can not stand these winds. I hate it almost as much as snow.
I cannot keep my balance, the inner ear thing and the wind just make me feel like I am drunk or sick in the stomach. A strange feeling I can not explain. I am great when it is a calm day and the barometer is steady. LOL.
It looks like I may begin shipping next week. I need to check on some people over the weekend and see what their weather looks like. We are still below freezing at night but we are to warm up this coming week. Lets hope so.
Had an order today from a man who wants 5 gardenias wrapped in plastic bareroot sent to Miami. No address nothing, just an email. When I wrote back telling him I need an address, and I do not ship plants wrapped in plastic bareroot to Florida, the darn email bounced. He must be some wierdo because if the bareroot gardenias laid in the heat of a box wrapped in plastic they would wilt for sure. Oh well, some men think they know it all. I think I will tell Logees I want my plants sent bareroot wrapped in plastic and see what kind of response I get.......LOL They would tell me to stop drinking straight gin.
Be back. Must go to bank. JB
You all are up early. It is snowing off and on here too Lee, but suppose to be in the mid to high 40s all week and from Wed. on, the night time temps are above freezing!!
I am going to tell that guy to send my plant out tomorrow JB, what do you think? If he sent it priority it should be ok to be in my area above freezing temps? A large leaf splitleaf philodendron? Let me know what you think so I can tell him. Or do you think that is still too cold?
I suppose Katie is more used to dealing with the Mexicans than the rest of us. At least she should be. But JB is right from all I have heard, the Mexican jails are not a vacation. Especially for white women. I don't care how old and gray you are. Suppose Katie thinks it is better to go down fighting. LOL
Gotta go shower and go into town with Bob. A friend wants me to see her bathroom they just finished remodeling with the old bathtub etc. They have a house that was built in the early part of the 1900s.
Hi Everyone, sorry to be gone again, but my computer crashed and I have just gotten it back online. I use carbonite for back up so I am thrilled I didn't lose everything! If you don't have a backup, check into them. I will never be without it again. I have been doing alot of genealogy research ( because I can't do much else) and I had downloaded tons of stuff. I was really freaked when it crashed because I didn't want to lose all that work. Then I realized that carbonite should put it all back.
Evelyn, I am sure the oxalis would be hardy for you. It is hardy here and we are pretty much in the same zone. ( I have the moisture blanket from the ocean which may keep me a little warmer though.) I would be happy for you to try it. I have the purple shamrock, pink oxalis ( not sure which variety) regular white shamrock and iron cross ( although I haven't seen those 2 up yet), I will be happy to share though.
Dave, I will have to research to see if any of my camellias are hardy in your zone. They are almost all in glorious bloom now and I can just look through the windows at a few. If it warms up today, I may hobble out and see what else is blooming.
Jnette, I may send some lantana plants when it gets warmer. They are coming up everywhere.
Dave, you will get some too.
JB, I am holding on to the orchid cacti cuttings and some camellias for you.
Please let me know when it is ok to ship everything.
Hope you all have a great day,
Linda
Ps, Katie, that was quite an adventure. I am glad you are back safe and sound.
Lee, I cannot believe you are getting more snow! You really need to come visit.
Thanks Ibartoo, I appreciate that. I also appreciate you getting the correct link for Jen on the other forum. I get so frustrated with one eye at times, especially when my vision in that eye gets tired and blurred. I completely messed up the link by leaving out a few important things. That is the one and it is a very good one. I am hoping I can do these camellias you send me. I sure will try.
What is carbonite? Software for a tape backup or a disc?
Good morning everyone:
well its a blustery day so the upper 50's feel a lot cooler. not much news except for a refill on the ole morphine pump. I am so thankfull for the pump it gave me back some ability to cope and be able to move around. most people think the pump is something i can cantroll and get high on but its internal and controlled all by the dr's office and it bypasses the brain so there is noeffect to the brain... of course unless its set too high and then its like I am dieing with horrid flue like symptoms... don't want to go through that ever again.
shipping out my first set of orders from market place tomorrow but its all in the warmer parts of the us so I don't feel anything will happen to the plants after all they are all perrienial and just went through winter and they know winter's not done....just ask them I told them yesterday....
Katie that was quite a story. yes you are much braver than I am also. I usually just go through the motions and get it done what ever silliness is involved. I think I would report the guy who asked you to step aside as it seems to me he was giving preferential treatment to someone he was at the very least aquainted withif not a friend. on tv they say how they go above and beyond to try to keep it from happening so I am sure the guy would be in a world of trouble if you had his name and wrote to the powers that be.
with that said there is the other side of it where you might stirr them up and get inspected everytime you cross with a microscope. it might be fun to put some doggie biscuits in the van for the trip up north. that is if you had the time to yank their chain a bit. just some humorous thoughts....
well time to get ready
Dave
I think carbonite is online where they back up everything every so often in their computers which is off site. I believe everything is done electronically.
lol we cross posted jb
Hey Dave, you are much braver than I am when it comes to shipping. There is a big difference sitting overnight in a box than being outside and cold. I know, I sit in boxes alot.
Anyhow, I have an online backup called Back it Easy....I pay yearly to my computer tech.
It is part of his business. But, he also suggests if you have all that good stuff like I have also with pictures and genealogy another back up in addition is a good idea. I am trying to decide what I want to do. I also pay according to the amount of space I use.
Believe me, I was careful in fighting back. I did not get mad and yell at anyone. I tried to look as pitiful as possible as I explained that I just was not going to keep standing in line. I suspect the line man is not real popular with his fellow workers and they may have been happy to have me as an excuse to call him on his arrogant behavior. I have to take crap from the immigration man and I'd just had enough of him - demanding extra money, then making me wait three hours for him to do a two-minute task. It was just one of those times when I'd had enough. If they had threatened I would have backed down (grudgingly) but I was able to present something that they just didn't know how to deal with.
There's good news and bad news with my plants. All my little goldenberry plants died. But I have six new arhat seedlings and a lot of my melon seeds germinated. Most of my seeds are at least a year old so germination is iffy. I am trying to give them a chance before getting more. I got a bunch of miniature roses at the 99 cent store and they seem to have survived the trip. I did get some seeds, but not a lot. Also, I'm trying strawberry plants - probably hopeless but I keep trying as it's hard to get them here and impossible to get without lots of chemicals.
I can't get sound on my puter.
Got bones for the dogs this morning. We are all happy to be together again.
I brought two tangerine trees - the only thing I might have gotten in trouble for. Lots of citrus are blooming here and there are buds on my jasmine. So far only one yacon has started to show new growth but that's progress over losing all of them twice so I';ll take it.
And, by the way, as I was dealing with the difficult Mexicans, I kept thinking, "would JB take this crap?" The answer was a clear No. I am always careful to be very polite and patient with the guys who are nice. There are a number of them and I don't think they like the jerks any better than I do because the jerks make life hard for everybody.
I'm glad to be home and safe. This is our best weather time. T-shirts and shorts and beautiful blue skies. By the time you folks get this weather, we'll be dying from the heat and humidity so I'm going to go out and enjoy it.
hugs, katie
I have blue scabosa, daff's, pansies, viola's and I saw some other color from the dining room tonight so I will have to investigate. The scabosa turned out to be evergreen here for me and its getting huge. Oh yeah, I have some spirea and forsythia also flowering.
Dave
Dave ~ Are these in your greenhouse or in your garden? Maybe I will get forsythia again, to go in the new "hot bed" opposite our patio-to-be. I am trying to talk Steve into building a small lath house around that area as well. Then we would have some shade plants in pots there, too, as we have very little shade. Especially so since more trees are down and cut. Also I can keep a closer eye on plants and spray them more regularly as well as take them in the garage in the winter if we get any tropicals to go in there as well. We have no tropical plants except for the colorful annuals each year. Oh, I take that back, I have one "lucky bamboo" in my room to keep the air fresh in there. I forgot what its real name is, but it is not a bamboo. (Is more bad weather headed your way?)
Katie ~ I would have probably acted the same as you having had the experiences that you have had while living in Mexico. Your Spanish is probably quite good as well.
JB ~ It is good to hear you tell us that you are having rain. Online backup? I back mine up on a DVD, but if I had a business or other important items that needed constant saving, I would get an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and I believe it just plugs into a USB port, right, Dave? I just don't like making any monthly payments to anyone I don't have to. Phone, utilities, (very low charges on dial-up), the cheapest tier on Netflix, insurance...oh yeah, and taxes, but for now, Steve takes care of that. I am glad that the other items are paid off.
Jeanette ~ When do you get a break from the snow and cold weather? Is your area the coldest in the state of WA? I suppose NORTHEAST says it all, huh?
We had a busy day yesterday. We went to lunch in Amador at the Imperial Hotel, then met up with some friends and went to a classical concert and then afterwards our friends invited us to join them for dinner....guess where - yes, the Imperial Hotel! They had made reservations for 4 and we did not even know ahead of time. The second time, I just had soup and salad. In the morning we split a mushroom crepe and cranberry-walnut green salad. It was good!
I am tired and want to take a nap now. Did not mean to leave anyone out, I am just sleepy. I will come back later as I need to clean the house again, since the decorator is coming again tomorrow when the new furniture arrives. I hope Steve doesn't want upstairs to be done as well. That's enough changes and money spent, too....well, we will see...
Well, I am off....and that is what others say about me, too! LOL!!
~ Evelyn
Jen, I just saw your post, sorry I missed it earlier. Regarding the shipping, Logee is still not shipping my order, but our night time temp. is not above freezing. One thing, you have a P.O. Box and your package will remain in the P.O. until you get it, so them getting cold in the mail mans delivery vehicle is no problem. But, from where it comes from to your P.O. is the problem. How long is it in a truck or plane cargo ...sitting on an airport runway...or wherever in the cold evening. Having said that, I would wait another week. I would guess
no one will guarantee their plants if they get cold or freeze in shipping. I know I will not unless it was my decision to mail them. That is why I wait....I can not honestly guarantee my plants when the weather is so unpredictable and I do not have that kind of money or plants to keep sending until they arrive safely. Honey, it is your call. This is my opinion.
Would you believe, i just lost the CNN News on DirectTV because, not the wind, rain, snow, sleet, but THE SUN. Give me a break. How does that happen. It is back but in all the winter the signal only went out a few times during the blizzard conditions and when the rain is heavy. Never have I heard the Sun is the problem. They said on the screen in the Spring and Fall this happens. Oh well, what next? JB
LOL, JB, Bob was bitching about that sun spot too. Funny Busy right now, will write later.
Linda, I would be interested in Carbonite also. One more thing, when you send me some Lanatana, would you stick a cutting of a camillia in with them? JB says she keeps hers in pots so don't know why I couldn't also. Thanks. Also thanks for giving me the straight skinny on the propagation of them. Think JB is just trying to drive me crazier than I already am.
Think you are right JB, they might sit on a truck anywhere along the way. But, I would be surprised if our temps don't take a dip again. Can't trust that guy to send them priority and get them out for the warmer temps.
Still trying to get my wall painted so I can get the TV hooked up. Bob is cutting some molding for the beams and they have weird angles so might take a while. Plus, he doesn't like me to paint 'cause I have to use a stool but he doesn't do a good enough job to satisfy me. Catch 22.
I would be happy to share my camellia cuttings. I love them and when I managed a nursery years ago, set out to collect as many varieties as humanly possible. Then when I quit working, I lost the names of some of them. It helped that we had just bought our property and had nothing on it. I spent as much as I made at that nursery. mine begin blooming in october ( sasanquas) and generally continue through mid -spring.(japonicas).
Carbonite is an online backup system. I have used it for about 3 years now and it really does save and replace everything. It is about 55 bucks a year, but your back up is unlimited. I am thinking after this last crash though my own backup system might not be a bad idea. Especially with the genealogy and picture files I have been adding lately.
I built a propagator box last year by some patterns ( plastic tote with holes in the lid and an aerator pump and bubble stick) I found on a blog. I just never tried to use it for camellia cuttings. It worked great on lots of other things. I may try some when they quit blooming. Right now I have quite a few blooming. Burk took pictures and as soon as I get them downloaded I will post them so you can see. One that is blooming for the first time this year is a deep pink and the flower is about 6 inches in diameter.
I love the sun spot story! no one ever mentions satellites going out in good weather. LOL It made me giggle. Sorry for you guys though.
The Sun passes between the Direct TV satellite and earth thereby causing a Sun Spot. The difference is, they told us about it. JB, we will probably get them every day at the same time, for about a week or more.
It is snowing real hard right now and it is supposedly 35 degrees out there. Can you believe this crap? I'll bet we have another cold spring where nothing grows. Then all of a sudden it will get real hot and the plants haven't even established their roots.
I would love to check my plants and see if they made it thru the winter. But, it is too cold and I don't have room to bring them in the house. I might check them one of these days anyway.
Howdy:
I don't know which would be better a seperate external hard drive or off site back up. it sounds cheap enough. Once I get things rolling I will most likely order it for my files as I have a vast group of websites, pics and other info I really don't want to have to go out and rebuild. The only reason I am shipping is they are going to similar weather places. I know the plane can be colder but they are packed up nicely.
JB don't let anyone tell you how to do things as its your system and they either do you what and how you want it or they can go else where. but they are coming to you for a reason don't back down. I know I get repeat visits because of the quality I either buy in to grow up or seeds to grow and I have better prices than most retail sites as I don't care who i sell to as long as I get my price.
I am hopeing to expand the GH to where I can do 2 batches of plants each year. I try to sell my cells at $1.00 or less and the 3.5" at $2.00 or more depending on what it is and how it was grown, cost exceters exceters exceters.... It keeps me busy and I hope it does more this year as I am hopeing to get out there easlier than I did last year.
well its time for nitey night so I will see you all l8ter
Dave
I'm feelin ya Katie but they don't mess around over there and to be honest, I have never heard of a Mexican Border Guard who was not on the take. My X was from Tecate and we used to go all the time. If we brought clothes and stuff we had collected for my MIL and her church, they would not let us pass unless we paid. We refused to pay so we went and got our friends with a big Lincoln Town Car in San Diego and asked them if they would take some of the stuff in their giant trunk. You should have seen their faces when we came back hours later with way less stuff.
They pulled us over once in Tijuana on our way to a funeral. It was dumb because the guy saw our US plates and said we did not stop at the stop sign, when my X asked why we were being pulled over. The funny thing was the stop sign was on a different part of the road. It was like a Y and we were not on his part of the Y that had the stupid stop sign. We had to pay him and he was trying to get more out of us or we would go to jail. My X told me to wear a hat and act like I was asleep, so I did. We used to go over a lot but now I have not been for years. We used to go to this place called Puerto Nuevo, near Encinada and TJ to get cheap Lobster, but I don't like it as much as I like my kidneys and other donor parts.
Today was freezing and windy all day, but the last two days were 80.
is the weather nice in enchalada? I always liked them with beans and rice.....oh sorry my bad wrong spelling LOL...excuse my sillyness but its way past my sleepytime and I am off to dream land now
sweet dreams all
Morning everyone, I got a lovely surprise today. I guess my honesty and hard work paid off. Take a look. I got the email last night telling me I was chosen as one of the "top 5" for 2011.
http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/7256/
The positive comments from you gals were the reason I got the award. I do want to thank you all. I try so hard to please people with my plants that it is so nice to see it is appreciated. There have been many positive comments I received privately that other people never get to see and I cherish every one of them. Thanks again for your support.
Congrats are in order. Wow JB, and you thought they were picking on you. See what positive thinking can do for you. Now use it on your health thinking and all will be fine!!!!!!!!!!
Lee
Thanks Lee Honey, I am trying desperately to think positive and tomorrow will be the test to see if I can manage to get there and back without a panic attack. My appt. is not until 2:30 in the afternoon so I will be popping xanax all day. LOL
Working on Horse Park stuff. Be back later. JB
Congratulations, JB. Nice to be recognized for good things.
If I were a man I think I could not get away with what I do with some Mexican authorities. Being female helps as they don't know how to respond when a woman fights back, especially when it is done reasonably. If the person is clearly crazier/nastier than I I cooperate, as with the immigration man. Or if they threaten me with handcuffs (as happened once while in rush hour traffic) I cooperate instantly. But when someone tells me to do something, I do and and he then tells me to undo or redo it I start talking back. I don't speak lots of Spanish but with raising my voice and waving my arms I make my meaning clear. One time a check point person told me to pull out of the line and come towards him. Then he told me to stop. Another car whose Mexican male driver could clearly see the situation pulled up facing me. The official then told me to back up and return to w here I had been. I yelled, waved my arms a lot, then put my van in park and shut off the ignition and sat there with my arms folded across my chest. The guard made the person who had pulled up in front of me back up and let me through.. I had another check point person, full of his own authority yell at me in Spanish. When I didn't understand He yelled louder. I finally understood he wanted me to get out of my van (not the usual procedure). As I got out I let my left knee go and almost fell. He was suddenly totally solicitous and tried to reach out to help me. I told me (with a gesture) not to touch me and stood clinging to the door to stay upright. That man developed some manners real fast as it's the kind of thing they can get in trouble for - being unnecessarily rude, especially to a person who is handicapped.
When Fox was president he went to border stations and directly fired a number of guards who were seen taking bribes. I think they may have cameras now; they have refused even a box of cookies. Some of them get their kicks the way the man who told me to step aside did, but it can backfire if you do it to a person like me. I've dealt with too many petty tyrants. That doesn't mean I never back down - one must have some common sense.
I slept all yesterday afternoon, feed the dogs and went back to bed. Slept until almost eight this morning. I got one tangerine planted yesterday and the five new arhats potted up. Tony is here today and putting together the little trailer that I got at Harbor Freight; it will go behind my ATV for hauling seaweed when that starts rolling in. I am assuming that I won't be sleeping eighteen hours a day by then. Can't believe I'm so tired but I guess it helps me recover from the trip.
Hoping all of you get some clear warm weather and NO MORE SNOW.
hugs, katie
JbB we cross-posted.
I was worried about seeing my doctor, especially as I thought one of my tests was high. Instead, he was very happy with me. One never knows. Easy for me to say don't worry as I'm not the one having the tests done. What I can suggest is that you do something to distract your busy little mind. I like to watch George Carlin dvd's or read a good mystery.
Know that we will all be with you in spirit and you don't have to go it alone.
hugs, katie
Hey JB, CONGRATULATIONS~!!! Now does that mean I can start haranguing you about my Aimee? And you know when I saw that, I was thinking the same thing Lee said, "And you thought they were after you". LOL Paranoid this lady is. Now she is going to say the testers are after her tomorrow. Gotcha Missy!!
Good grief I hope to get this room put back together today. Paint the wall and vacuum and then put the new TV in place and get some of the rest of this furniture out of here. When we have to keep running back and forth to town to fax that real estate papers it takes up the whole day. I'll be glad when it is finished. So, when Bob gets back this morning, wonder if I can get it painted while he is gone. I don't know if I can stay on that stool without falling off. LOL
We'll see.
I have to move my shelving into the kitchen where I will be able to start my seeds. When I get in the mood that is. When Gardens Alive had their $25 coupon last month I bought one of their seed starting kits with the plugs. Have any of you used them? I know you don't Dave. That wouldn't be cost effective for you planting the amounts you do, and for the reason you do. Anyway, it is just a new way to try. I always enjoy new experiments.
Well, maybe I will get Bob on his way to town when the bank opens to fax those papers and then get ready to paint. ttyl,
Hey Jen, why don't you just buy an inexpensive fax machine. I had one, and had I known before I gave it to my brother, I would have shared with you. But I know they aren't real expensive, and you can turn on and off so it doesn't tie up your phone line. Sure would save you some travel time!!! I have mine incorporated into my desktop printer and love it!!
Still snowing off and on, not enuf to worry about, but the temps are still really low, and roads are black ice all over. Don't you think black ice should be colored green or some other color. Then we could see it :) :)
later, Lee
Lee, I know they come on printers but they are so big and bulky that my area for it was not big enough for a fax. And I don't need one that often to have it in my way. On my Cannon printer I could just email the papers and it was the same thing. But, with my new printer I haven't figured it out yet so it would take me a whole day to learn how to use it and right now I don't have the time. The house is all torn up with this new TV and painting etc.
Just too many things going on at the same time. Isn't that always the way it is?
I need to learn to de-clutter. Guess I need to go on that forum. LOL Get rid of some of this furniture.
Good afternoon everyone:
congratulations on the award JB. that will get you more orders as its a big deal. Its got me rethinking my view on having a store on DG... well we will see.
I shipped my 1st 2 orders for the year today. it was 4 hostas and a crepe myrtle. I also managed to get pics taken so i can post and update my for sale stuff. I found a few huge mesa yellow gaillardia in plugs. I am sure they wont last long on market place.
Jen you know you are not suposed to get up on stools. its way to risky. My dr banned me from ladders all together.
I had a nice visit with the pain management dr. yesterday. Social security sent me their please help us update and weed out the dead beats letter. They wanted to know if I could go back to work... LMAO ROTF.... yea right. well my dr said its never gonna happen. he said only if Jesus would come and touch me on my nose would I be better and fixed. I wonder if I should quote him on that one??? probably not as i don't want to cause any unnessicary (spelling) grief on him.
Kim has started doing better they have her on flexerill to help with the muscle tension. of course he told her to lessen her stress and they both said this time of year its not gonna happen. 6 more weeks of tax season and then maybe she can relax a little.
She is already planning all the home improvement projects so its going to be interesting to say the least. The farmers almanac says we are suposed to get one more blast of ole' man winter....
Hey Sharon is he any relation LOL sorry couldn't resist that one it was way to easy..
well the weather is nasty so I am going to get a bite to eat and curl up for a nap. maybe I will get one today...if the body is willing.
the pic is of the blue phlox I have rooted out. now if it will just put on some top growth. I am thinking $2.00 each for market place what do you think????
Dave
One thing sure, it shows even the little people (I only have 11 things listed) if they have a good reputation and good feedback, can win as well as the big guys. My feedback from the girls here were the only ones I have and I am sure that is what got me the award.
I had many others from new people, but the problem is, the new people send you emails and do not know anything about the feedback. I was a member for a year before I learned about the feedback. I knew about how eBay does it but here they do not make an effort to help you get feedback on your orders. They do that on eBay. Which is very helpful. I also have 100% positive on eBay but they do not give out anything. It may be worth you taking the time to list your things under a store name. Think about it. Thanks for the best wishes.
If I get too many orders I will be out of business early in the year.
I had hoped the kids down the road would raise those 50 jasmine cuttings I gave them and they lost them all over the winter. I could cry. I could have 50 more had I not shared them. But, how did I know they did not know how to care for them, they all went to college majoring in horticulture. So there we go!!!! I lost a few but I have about 35 to sell, that is all.
Good healthy plant Dave! That is really awful JB. You know, I have been on here and buying for so long that once in a while I forget what it means to get feedback too.
The guy I got those tropicals from wants feedback so bad but I am kind of holding it hostage to see that I get that one I lost replaced. And I told him I wanted it packed good. Isn't that terrible? But I am trying to teach him to do it right. I told him I wanted to include packaging in my feedback. We'll see.
Dave I just found a large local nursery you might be interested in, just to see what they are like. Can't remember how many plugs and plants they sell. They moved here from Holland in the 1980s. I will send you the URL.
I think Dave should open a store on the Market Place and call of Pughbear's Pampered Perennials .
It's another beautiful day here. I'm not quite awake yet.
Yesterday I found that one of my cherimoyas is sprouting.
I think I have a good spot for my arhats. I'm hoping they will produce fairly quickly as they are a cucubitis but I haven't found any information on that. I have what I think is a good spot for them based on my reading, I just hope it's not too hot here for them.
JB, take it easy today. Keep breathing and take a book or something to help distract yourself. If I didn't have books for the doctor's office, Mexican lines, etc, I'd be a basket case. Do what you can to get through it. You are not alone.
The pomegranite I planted on the arroyo a couple of months ago has put out lots of new growth. It's a beautiful bronzy, reddish, green color.
I'm still tired from the trip but not jittery so I'm just taking it easy. Hope you all are doing the same.
hugs, katie
Dave, each time you show us one of your seedlings, cuttings, or whatever, they are so healthy, you have made a believer out of me. So, tell me what you use to start your plants in.
Tell me quick 'cause I have to get whatever before I start my stuff in a week or 2.
Oh, and tell me where to get it.

Morning, almost noon...........waiting for two o'clock to be on my way to my death sentence.
I went to the Chiropractor this morning and I told him I was going to the Cardiologist and tell her I am not taking any more tests. He actually agreed with me. He said I must get my body and mind back to normal now. He has seen me going down hill the past four months.
He has a paper written on Anxiety on his website. You all should read the things that stress can do to your body.

I ask him if he wrote that about me. He just smiled.........I will never know. LOL.
The weather is a mess today. It is cold, the wind is coming off the ocean at about 20 MPH and keeps blowing like a storm.........the sun comes in and out and it is damp and dreary when the sun goes in. I must take more cuttings of the black pussy willow for a lady but it is just too cold to do it today.
Well, I have things to do to keep this old mind busy. If I survive my doctor visit I will be back in touch later today. Love you all and thanks for your support. JB
JB---Knock it OFF. you are going to be just fine if you set your mind to it. Death sentence INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stress will make it worse. Have a piece of chocolate and relax. (better than your gin) LOL
