Betty any word yet from Ann? I've been praying for him all day and for strength for Ann. I'll be a bit busy week as I'll have Sean for several days. School vacation and Mom still has to work...I may not post too much but I will be lurking!!!!

Cathy had dropped in and was just opening the door to leave when Kyle and Greg came in,Greg wanted me to know their childhood friend Arthur was trying to reach me to let me know hIs dad had passed away this morning....will give him a call in the morning...Arthur was like a 3rd son when my boys were growing up...old beyond his years..if the boys said Arthur would be with them we did noy worry!

Think that's like most of our places Susan...how did you make out? Everything put back...one sure can make a mess while renovating....did you accomplish all you wanted to get done over the weekend?

I painted a 16ft wall in our bedroom, and tonight am starting on another wall. Will also be wallpapering one window wall.
Hope this cold weather gets warmer (should be, by Wed). Right now it's -24, with windchill of -37C !!!

Hi everyone! Busy busy day and I was up all night. We started out with a really good tornado threat that was supposed to happen here around 3am last night, but at 11pm there was an earthquake measuring 4.7! Since Arkansas doesn't really get earthquakes and since I'm from CA and have been in many I decided to stay up and listen to what the callers who were calling into one of the tv stations had to say, some of them had me cracking up! Little did I know that we were going to be slammed today LOL Oops! Plus something was going haywire with one of the programs we use and I couldn't get into some tables that I need, very frustrating.

Wow - Crissy.. tornadoes and earthquakes...etc... "Oh My !".... Too bad they couldn't interview you on the radio to help give earthquake advice...

Lived (age 5-12) in Sacramento and all I remember is the 'earthquake drills' where we'd sit under desks at school with hands clamped around necks....

Susan & Judy - wow all the painting and work going on... I know painting must take it out of ya... Hubs is soaking feet now.. cant hardly move arms.... he painted the back porch all weekend.....

Wow - I wouldn't have thought ya'll would have Popeyes Betty & Shirley ! That's so neat to know... :) I suppose KFC is my preference because it's the furthest from me... I've got 2 Popeyes within 2 miles.... "Want what you don't have"... When we head to Florida/beach... there is a COMBO KFC/Long John Silvers in Gulfport MS, right off the interstate...must be same company...I like to try to stop there...but does make for a greasy drive.... LOL

Crissy, sorry to hear you have so many tornado's, and now an earthquake! Please be carefull!

Just went to bed when I got Arthur's call ..his dad had throat cancer. Funeral on Saturday..told him if my plans change I'll go to the funeral 3 hr. drive, if not I'll take a trip in June to see he and Lisa's new home, just bought it and is proud it's on the water!

Ooooh Mary, lumps??? Could the be fatty tissue, guess you'll be making an appt for her tomorrow...

Talking about hypochondriacs (?) mom. Called me at work today saying she had it out with Kim my SIL seems mom thinks she should be over helping more than she has been,then went on to say all her kids don't give a dam, none come to help....well, told her Sharon was in bed with pneumonia, Bernie was down south bigness back and not feeling that well himself, as for myself told her Imwork and when off do try and help I.e. Florida, she as much told me that was a vacation....was glad the telephone rang so I did not blow my stack!

Susan you must be exhausted..painting takes a lot of energy..many don't like any wallpaper but I love it, to me it gives a homey feel to the house.are you liking the color?

Betty - we had / have kids like that... when they are "with" that kid you just don't have to worry as much... How wonderful Arthur has done well for himself...and he cared so much to keep in touch with you...

I threw that out there about DSD2 as a "Teenage drama example".... didn't want to raise an alarm... and I typed then erased this: the last time she "had cancer" because I didn't want to offend anyone... but she had a mole... she was sure it was skin cancer and she & I went to the Derm...and I"M the one who got stuff burned off... hers was harmless... so TRULY a hypochondriac.....not to be concerned...

BUT just like "You're a Bad Mom" ... it's just something to get attention... We will def get her to the Dr. as I told Hubs... my Dr. told me to get them to the GYN before they leave the house.. because if we don't... then they aren't likely to go for the "First Time" once they are on their own....

But I am Truly NOT concerned in the very least.... just more teenage drama....breasts are lumpy anyway and WHY was she checking them in CLASS during the day !??? LOL

So sorry about your Mom... As hard as you worked packing things up and getting them back up there... I read all that... that was NOT a vacation... and to have her Pooh Pooh all your efforts... well ... I'm getting mad thinking about it....

Morning, bit chilly in here so I've rushed to make the coffee for us..going through the hot/cold spell again body wise so turned the heat down to zilch last night and now I'm walking around with sweater over the nighty, not a pretty site.

Well girls it's March, the very worse we can say is 'next month we'll be in our gardens' BUT Mother Nature might have a change of heart and within the next few weeks with the rain they are calling for might have little to no snow, but then you can't believe the weathermen now can you!!!

Mary, Arthur did not have a great relationship with his mom/dad, he has one sister and it was all about Ellen! It hurt him terribly so my home was open to Arthur and Oliver whose parents lived in Germany and he stayed at the cottage while going to school so with Roger cooking for 20 everynight guess who was always at our supper table!

Always going on about not having girls, think by the sounds of it the teen years had much less drama having boys..am I right?

Susan, you've accomplished much, remember, the color is not for you it's for the new owner..what pattern is in the wallpaper?

Going to get a move on, head is a little woozie, I'll take another pill but it seems to finally be moving on...sometimes I think it's weather related...changes in the high's and low's

Don't know about the differences between boys and girls, but my boys gave me ther un for my momey in theit teens! WOW! I think all teens go through that stage! Not quite old enough to be an adult, and not a young child anymore! But I do know you have to have tough love for them, or they will end up in jail! With me being here close to the border, both of mine went through the drug phase, and I don't wish that on anyone! Thank God, they both have families now, and are out of that!

Linda Kay, how long does it take you to be in Mexico, only place I was in Mexico was Matamores (?) when I visited South Padre Island and did almost all of Mexico I crossed over..was quite an experience..You must now be so proud of the boys LindaKay and I'm sure they thanked you for the tough love..not enough of that kind of love happening!

Dianne, our March came in like lamb but lets hope it stays like this throughout all of March. The news said this morning that a weather specialist say it will be a colder than normal March/April and May..just what I wanted to hear.

Paul came in for all of 5 minutes so I told him I wanted to go to the Funeral home in Hamilton Friday afternoon, didn't give him time to say no, I just kept gabbing...anyway when in Hamilton I'm only about 45 minutes away from Buffalo..lol..
I'll leave here at 1:00...go to the viewing for 1/2 hr. and then continue on my way.

Betty, he was able to find two yards with the part, so he has to stop and get it....only $10 thankfully, but has to "pull it" himself. Not a problem...like therapy for him! lol

Well, you've asked about the big job at JHC, it will start end of March. Right now, he and Brian are to start on a house right around the corner from us!! No travel time for either one of them, Brian will be occupying the residence while working on the house. It needs a total gut. And it is in my sincere hopes that something gets worked on here too! So last night instead of coming home he went right to the other house to work on the furnace...Grrr, i was hopping mad, because my furnace needed a new ignighter for a couple of weeks. LOL he must have sensed I would be mad because he came home with the piece and fixed ours too, lol.
I walked over to see the place, it's a Mirror image of ours. Haven't seen the yard yet, supposed to do that tomorrow. But in talking about the place, I was volunteered to sew sheers for the windows!! Hands on the Hips, EXXXCuuuse me, but I will not be sewing anything unless I get paid to do so! Steve and i talked about that when we got home, He said well who else is there to sew? I said how about volunteering his wife, it's her property after all. And i know for a fact she sews because she and I have discussed projects.
LOL, Not to mention one can go to any dollar store and get ready made curtains for cheap...Oh and then there's the clean up so Brian and Brittany can move in, They discuss how "We" all chip in to do this, again hands fly to the hips as i ask who We is, This project did not include me so i better not be in the We anything unless they hire me to work, Got to laugh pretty hard, because Cuz looked at Jacob and asked if he would come and help with the clean out, Jacob wanted to know how much? LOL Cuz, dumbfoundly looked at him. Jake said sorry, i don't work for free for anyone...LOL, even I pay him to do heavy yard work!

Mary, Yep, i think your right about 'getting attention' if this kid gets any more attention, she's gonna end up in a tough love camp, because i am just done with all her Crap! And she is throwing the I 'm almost 18 thing at me. I said i don't give a (*&%%&*( how old you are, you live here you will follow all the rules even if you are 38! We had major words, told her right now the only thing she needs to do is get her butte to school and All of the classes. She said there boring and i then said, i don't care how boring they are, you get there and pick your nose for the time if you have to but your body better be in the room for it's entirety!! I don't want another call from the school about anything...Meantime I am begging God for patients.

LOL, I don't know, my Boy IS so much easier then my girls. But He is So Stubborn, hard headed when it comes to what he wants. Only thing is, he has no problem looking for ways to make extra cash! Julia works and pays for herself, even just started paying rent for her room!! She and Anthony both do, because she doesn't go to school any more and well no one lives anywhere for free...
And i will tell you since they are, they both take better care of their room and other parts of the house they occupy, be the maid doesn't live here! LOL, chalk boards have chores to do written on them...Sigh and Breenie, well now that she has been in major troubles, has been sticking close to home...So just maybe she is seeing the light!

Betty - it's a light beige, with delicate roses and light vines....... very non-descript.
It'll go on one wall (14' across) while the rest of the room will be beige with wood trim on the walls and maple hardwood flooring. Beige is better than the turquoise green, for buyers........ my bedroom's been very owner-specific

Update on Mike, Ann said she e-mailed me last night about 5:30pm but used my old Rogers acct. and as I switched provider I did not get it, not sure why she didn't get notification but didn't so this morning she decided to call me with the update.

Mike came out of the operation last night and was doing fine, within about 1 hr. he was running a high fever, took quite some time to get it back to within safe guidelines, Ann did speak with the specialist who performed the operation and he said that the lungs were full of cancer growths but the main problem right now is that a film had enveloped the lung causing it to not be able to inflate, guess they were able to deal with that issue. He was going for more tests this a.m. so she will not get to see him until later this afternoon at which time she's hoping to have a few answers and maybe find out how long he might be in the hospital...they don't keep you for any length of time so who knows..she is hoping though he's there until the weekend!


Judy the house down the street, is that the house Steve got that he's hoping to fix and sell? Come on girl, you enjoy sewing, give in and make the place inviting..don't think $$$ store curtains will do the trick. Hope Steve doesn't work too hard as to wear himself out when the big job comes at the JHC.

Am sure you'll enjoy the gathering tonight, have they all found jobs, perhaps they'll have leads for you!

You are right Judy, with spring around the corner we're all antsy, I can get upset and argue with myself...lol... soon now that it's warmer during the day I might be able to sit on beack deck that's screened in with plastic so snow/wind doesn't come in, bet it could act as a hothouse..it will be here soon and we'll all be complaining about just how much work gardening is, the cutting of the grass, general outdoor maintenance etc.

As for dirty rooms, omg Greg's room you couldn't find a place to put one foot in, then he moved into his own home and you can't find a speck of dirt (well hardly)

Judy, you should have been watching Nate Burkus with me this morning! OH, got some good ideas for very low cost decor!! A woman spent $10 on a large curtain panel. She had enough fabric to make six decorative pillows for her sofa. They showed all this "common household items' you can use and make other things out of it. I LOVED the idea of using old knobs....off drawers, cabinets or door knobs....putting on the wall....attaching ribbons to picture frames, and hanging them on the knobs!! You should check out his site for some good (and easy for ditzy non-sewers like me).

Wow, so much to talk about. Man, she has re accuring Cancer. Well, she still has a Happy go lucky way of thinking. Has been fighting this for 12 years. Her phone is on the fritz, but she will get a new one this week, so maybe we'll chat when she does...Oh and She has a family gathering in Chicago in May so We will definatley try and link up.

Wow,, too much chat for me to remember it all again,,sigh,, I am really busy right now!! Got my hair cut and also got the eyebrows waxed ( YUCK ) was way to much silly cunsulting going on between James and DH about how much to cut off. They finally decided 6 inches was enough and then layered it. I was also treated to Dinner at Red Lobster!! It was so much fun being pampered by my favorite three men!!

James and Robert just bought a new house in the historic distric of Dohan Alabama, and it is HUGE!! They have 3 Clawfoot bathtubs,,,,sigh. The whole house is painted a pale yellow, with all white funiture and trim work, white curtains, then there are lots of McCoy pottery in aqua and greens. I cannot tell you how peaceful and clean it feels in that house. I am going back in a few weeks to spend the weekend and we are going to work on designing the garden together. I was so happy to be asked to help, so I will be asking everyone here for help too!! After all you all know so much more than I do.

The last time we've tried to have nice sit down family dinners... DS19 and I really don't get a word in...because the girls dominate the conversation... all about them... and last time DSD2 started accusing DH that he wasn't handling a situation right.... Oh Goodness !

Judy - I think if Hubby had asked you nicely or offered something back in return you might have taken it better... Just Men's ways of completely fouling up how they handle a situation. Don't just Assume ! Is that it?

Susan - I really grew to love my turquoise green bedroom ! But you are right... "they" say make as neutral as possible. We have never had time to paint this house.... our Master Bedroom is YELLOW ! LOL... poor DH...

My son gets mad, and he gets over it. We talk. My girls are still holding grudges for something that happened when I gave birth to them!!! Yes, Diva drama galore! AND, even with my oldest being 27...then middle daughter at 25...and "baby girl" at 20....they do NOT outgrow it. I don't care what anyone says....they haven't yet! My mom used to say "I am so glad you were never like that"! (NO she wasn't being sarcastic...I don't think! LOL)

Debbie - my daughter is like that - holds things close to her heart, even when she says she's "letting go". She was telling me about things that happened when she was 4, and she was 29 years old at the time! Her fiance (now her DH) told her to leave me alone LOL MY DH came home one time to find me crying silently (on the phone) while she lambasted me over and over again, but would not let me get a word in edgewise because I would be "justifying myself " and that's what I always do (she said). Geeeeeeeeeze - time to get on with life? Me Thinks So!! LOL
Now she loves me best, she says, and I'm the better parent. hoo boy..... guess her father got it worse than I did! She has "knee jerk" reactions and the one she didn't react to is the one she "guilt trips" about and they get it "in the neck" later. Someone's gotta pay, right? LOL LOL
ah well, I do love her dearly, and wish I could see her more often (she's in Winnipeg).

I don't think I know Christi Gibson, but my prayers are for her - no one needs to feel worthless, and I'm glad you called the cops, LK!
