Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I will check it out.

Sun back out. I am going to take a nap. Patti

Thomaston, CT

Wow, Patti.....weird accident, hope you are feeling better, & don't have a concussion. Victor, sounds like how my problems started! It was 47 when I was at my Mom's today, but it's in the 30's & very windy now.....have to go out tonight & I'm just plain tired!

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

Wow, everyone, a busy day for you all. My first time outside was pretty pleasant, light wind and full sun, but the second time out the wind was really blowing and by late this afternoon it was really troublesome getting my mom in and out of places. I have to go out one more time tonight and I'm really not looking forward to it. Tomorrow's cold temps are definitely not welcome.

I'm sorry to hear about the accident and the sinus. There's an awful lot of illness going around the school (and my house actually, my daughter's been fighting a sore throat and cough for a week now.) Patti, watch out for that bump on the head. Lots of talk about concussions lately and that could probably do it. Be careful.

This time of year is so unstable.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Thanks all, just took a 4 hour "nap". Feel better. I will try to take a health day tomorrow. Depends on the weather, but it sounds like it will be too cold to work outside anyway with lots of wind.

Now 39 with a steady wind around 20 and building. Glad I got a lot done today. Patti

I'm on my iPad now! I bought it last summer for work related use. It turns out I use it all the time, especially when I wake up in the night for an hour or two. It's great for DG except I can't post pictures, or at least I haven't figured out how. For that I have to go to the computer.

I only use the computer now a couple of times a week when things pile up. I've figured out how to do most things on the iPad using various apps. It's so nice to relax on the couch and catch up with email, research on the web, write, work on projects, it just goes on and on.

You will be amazed at how often you think of something and reach for the iPad instead of whatever you used to do. They should pay me for this ad!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great to hear! I'm getting the new one.

Thomaston, CT

Hi Pfg.....you are up near my son....if you've seen the signs in Goshen for Old Barn Farm blueberries, that's where he is......it is 12 right now.....a good day to begin knitting a new sweater for my grandy, Anni........

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Pfg, there is an adapter you need from apple, called the " camera connection kit" you can get it apple store. it was reasonable.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I am doing very little today. Head is OK. But it is cold outside. The Boys have been taking down trees. I am thrilled. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

looks like fun patti!

South Hamilton, MA

The wind dropped this afternoon. Bitter this morning & I had a Dr. appointment. He insisted that I get a pneumonia shot as it had been 5 yrs. came home & described my results to J-2. It is best to keep the next generation caught up on it all. Could hear the wind all last night.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm feeling much better today too. Z-packs are really great.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

First time my solar put out over 30 kWh since last fall!

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

I have all my garden pictures on the ipad, and weow, they look really great on it... but when I try to upload to DG the choose file button is greyed out and I can't select it. As you can see I'm on the computer now!

I just came in--It's COLD out there!!!! Brrrrr!

I'm looking forward to getting many photo appa for it. However, the display is not as good as my notebook. How would you browse fir a photo on it, as you do on the computer? Doesn't it have a 'camera roll' like the iPhone?

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Yes it does. I have all my pictures in separate files--Garden by year, Family, Friends, Work related, etc. I choose the ones to load via iTunes exactly the same way as I do for the iPhone.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, but I was wondering how you could post directly on DG since you cannot 'browse' like on the computer.

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

Um. I'm listening to all this talk about iPads. I have seen and tried an iPod (I think that's what it was) It was very small but had books and things on it. The owner didn't like to go in the web with it because of the short battery life. I'm sort of craving a net book. Does anyone have one of those? I haven't really researched this thing that Jobs announced yesterday so I don't know what you can do with it really.

It was cold today. Wind chill of 11 degrees until about 11:30 this morning when the wind died down. Nothing melted today, but we do really have a lot less snow on the ground. Forecast says rain over the weekend and maybe snow next week.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, you can read books or mags and papers with the iPad.

Thomaston, CT

Glad you're feeling better, Victor......it was nippy walking across the dam today, but I felt better for it....

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Ipad, is great!, You can read books, newspapers, mags, surf the net, make calls, email pic's well as edit them, store and watch movies, tv shows, music videos as well as store and listen to music. You can play games, grocery shop with a list, household accounting ect. Just like a computer only smaller. And yes I have one. Hubby bought it for for use in hospital after surgery. Worked out great.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I need a complete computer when I travel, so I have a little Acer Aspire Netbook which is great for short trips, but I would like an Ipad for keeping in the sitting room/kitchen to use when I want to go online or read the NYT's, but don't have to store stuff or need to type. I would like it also to use in the car or plane. But I am going to have to go play with the new version and see if it is more usable for me than the first version. It was cool, but not what I need. I don't care about movies or the camera feature, or the face time (too old to look good) or garage band , nor the video tools for making you tubes, or any gaming stuff, but I would like the long battery life and the good display screen and especially the Wi-Fi and 3G feature on the upgrade. But I have to go and see if it does what I need it to do, and not just be another pricey "IN" gadget. I guess I could check the weather in style with all the pretty color cases.

22 and clear with far less wind now, about 6 -10 mph. Patti

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

It was sunny but pretty cold today. Not much wind.

So... if one was to choose either a Netbook or an Ipad for --- say a 2 month-long road trip which should I look at? I still want to be able to access DG and facebook while traveling. Remember, I am not very computer literate. Someone showed me her Ipad yesterday and it was very cool.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

As far as photography is concerned, I can see using it a lot while away, but see no reason to download to it at home instead of the computer. I will definitely use it for video calls, reading, and much more.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

iPad hands down, the weight (or lack thereof) is enough. Fast, small, extremely portable.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll let you know how I like the new one. The old one is cheaper now!
