going to be about 55 out and still staying close to recliner chair helps to but feet up.
What are you going to do? How is that headache?
Best/Worse/Learned today??? Chat with friends
Just took 2 exedrin migraine pills so that eases it. Was doing a bit of baking, seems like yesterday all day long I had company drop in and no sweets to eat so will bake but no milk, thought I'd run down to grocery store and pick up a few things, will play witht he jewelery if headache stays at bay but not much else..just finished washing the floors and then doing you spritz on them, much shinnier and I'm happier witht he look...thanks for that..
Into reading a new book as well on ipad, figured out how to tone down the brightness, maybe that will help with the eye straining..lordy, no fun getting older! lol
Do hope you go to the doctors tomorrow and get checked out. Am sure that sitting at a sewing machine won't help either, just puts more pressure on your back so do same, find yourself a book and enjoy your day!
I woke up to another 4 inches of snow and it is still snowing 3 hours later. No idea of when it will stop. I look out my office window and I can no longer see my back yard - just the tops of trees. The snow level got high after the roof was shoveled off but now there must be at least 8 feet of snow outside the window!!!!! Same thing looking out the other windows in the house!!!! Our drive has been plowed 6 times in the last three days!!!!
So I guess I'll just go off and sew.....
I can understand the postage situation Betty. It is getting very high here and now they have eliminated a few of the postal envelopes that were fairly cheap to use as well. I just wish they still had boxes to use that were not Priority ones. Those can be expensive if you don't have a lot of weight but need the size. Oh well, I'll swap as long as I can.
Sending hugs and warm gentle thoughts for all of you.... Pictures later....
Wow, you sure are being dumped on Barb! Glad you've nowhere to go that you have to be driving!! Look forward to the photo's..
I'm waiting for 9am for grocery store to open so went outside and walked the gardens, sure not as pretty as when all is in bloom but hey, I know what's coming! Beauty beyond belief!!! Sooo took time to take a few photo's, but couldn't smell the roses..lol
Morning everyone! Still waiting for the "storm of the season" that was to be here on Friday hit. Somehow I think it is not coming and the WL did it again.
Betty I sort of got waylaid by life here and this is my just right back to let you know what went on at the Neuro apptment on Thursday. No surgery in the forseeable(sp) future of which I am so thankful - this time they would have to drill through my forehead which I sure am not too keen about. Possibility of radiation as it is evident by this last MRI that the radiation I had for 25 sessions did not shrink as much of the tumour as originally though. That would mean I would have to move back to PMLodge for 6 weeks - for those of you who don't know our neck of the woods it is in Toronto which is a 3 hr drive one way on a good day. Right now the Neurosurgeon wants to take the wait and see approach and treat the headaches for 2 -3 maybe 4 mon, have another MRI and see what's up then.I see the NeuroOpthmalogist I think it is June but might be bumped up.You have no idea how relieved I am that there is no surgery at the moment. Plus I can cope with anything if I know what it is - it is the not knowing that gets me every time. I so appreciate all of your prayers and support - felt you all there with me on Thursday.
Betty is it your mom's knee that the surgery is on?
Peach pie today on the agenda so had better get some peaches out of the freezer.
Do something nice for yourself today ladies.
Dianne
Barb your DGDs are beautiful!
Dianne, so glad you posted, was fretting, you know me, old mother hen!!! I'm sure it came to you as good news/bad news but as you say, the not knowing is what keeps you frantic. Hope the headaches subside or if they don't are manageable. If you do come to Toronto I'll make sure I can come and visit with you! Would so love to meet you, got to tell you, as soon as roads are clear I'm taking my wheels and coming your way!
As for the storms, although they said we'd get hit by it, it passed us by, but by the looks of it, Debbie and Barb got the worse of it!
It's not cold outside, was out without a coat and it was nice to get a bit of fresh air...snow stopped as well, just enough on the ground to make snowmobiling season another week longer, am sure Greg is thrilled!
Yes, operation on April 11th is for her knee!
Have all the making of bread pudding/muffins out on the counter all would be baked had I not been out of milk... time I get a move on!
By the time I get back Joel Olsteen Ministry will be on so while everything is baking I can listen to my morning program....
Secret Garden normally hidden in the middle of lilac bushes now sits waiting for spring as well...Anyone for tea?
This is just outside the front door looking across the front of the house. The snow completely covers the burning bush you see to the right of the flagpole!!!! Note the height of the air conditioner... The snow on the flat ground is as high as the railing on the steps......

And still it snows!!!!!!!!
OH Barb, I think you and I have the same snowstorm!! It was such huge fluffy flakes, I was out walking in it at Midnight (don't tell DH on me) and it was like Christmas eve...felt magical. I wished I had taken my camera out....but figured the neighbors would think they were under attack with flashing going on outside at midnight! Ours is no longer as deep as yours....but tomorrow they said it might hit 50!!
Barb, you do have a lot of snow, think the snow belt moved over to your neck of the woods. Hard to believe in a few more weeks a lot of it will be gone...your property looks high grade, do you have to worry about flooding?
Fun going through photo's is a fun way to fill in a day you have to stay inside.
Laying on the couch, what a waste of time...drats and more drats
wow, think you should win a MOST snow prize..lordy I would be worried about melting and seeping through the windows !
What a pretty view though, one would just like to pull up a comfy chair, coffee in hand and enjoy looking out at the beauty.
Debbie what on earth possessed you to be frolicking in the midnight air? Couldn't sleep?
No Betty, I can't sleep much anymore. I need an "off" switch for my brain and can't find it.
Well the guy didn't take down the big tree, I did take some pics of him taking down another big tree that's about half this other tree's size. He said he just didn't feel comfortable doing it since he's used to cutting trees out in the woods and it doesn't matter which way they fall, plus he needs a bigger chainsaw thingy, not a blade but the metal thing the blade goes around, he has a 16" and wants a 20" for this job. I'd rather have him do that than be Mr. Big Shot and try to do something he's not sure of what he's doing.
I'll come back after while, I need a shower LOL
Crissy, the reason you wanted it down was it because the tree is dead or you just wanted to let more sunshine in the yard? Pines are so woodsy..
Debbie know that feeling, exhausting. Once you know where you stand it might help you relax and get on with life..it's the not knowing and being caught in limbo that's the worse!
No snow and no rain for me....in the 50's....Thank you Lord!!!!
Betty when I had my knee replacement (both times) the Physio came to my house 3 times a week for several weeks. You just have to be firm with them and say it is impossible to get into a Physio facility you don't have the transportation. They will try and tell you that you will have to wait maybe even weeks but everyone I know who opteed for Physio at home got it within 5 days of getting home. They are providing her with I can't remember if it is 2 or 3 safety items to use while she recoups aren't they? I chose a seat for the shower, a raised toilet seat and a walker - made life a whole lot easier for everyone. Now she can focus on a date I am sure that will help her disposition. Am I right in assuming the surgery is in Barrie? I know people from my area who went to Barrie for their replacements and they were very happy with their care.
Oh Barb that is alot of snow!
Debbie I have been looking for that mind switch all of my life - gosh I wish I could find it. Sometimes it is nice to walk out late at night when things are quiet though - have done it many times.
You all have to check out this site if you get a chance www.coldestcanadian.ca - it is a contest with a trip to NZ as the prize. If you get to the site check out the clip arctic-trip-beach - it is entered by a couple who teach on an island in the Arctic Circle. They are to be married this summer and would like the trip as their honeymoon. They got a blurb written up in the Toronto Star Travel Section on Sat and I think that has helpeed the # of votes they received immensely.
The fellow that was there to cut your tree is to be commended on his honestly Crissy. As experienced tree cutters DH and I know when a tree is beyond our ability - you can save yourself an awful lot of money to have an expert in who comes with a bucket truck or scalesa the tree and limbs from the top down. Imagine the $$$$ it would cost you or the first fellow if that big tree hit a power line and knocked it down. Cudos to the guy!!
Pie is ready - gotta get it out of the oven.
Dianne
Dianne, mom is having the operation done in Toronto but she wants tp recoup in Washago near Orillia as that house is all on one floor..says it will be the perfect time to pack up much of her stuff getting ready to put the put her house in Brampton on the market. Thank you for that information am sure if she insists but in a nice way she'll be able to get home care for a few hours here and there.
I'll also make a point of telling her to ask for a few safety features she would not normally have in the house.
Her sister Muriel just dropped in, she's a tabbed at best of times but today she was upset, furious and could not settle down. She has a grandson who I would think is in his late thirties who has been on drugs, troubled since his teens....years ago she felt bad for him and gave him a room ..all her jewelry which she had expensive pieces went missing...she did not want to lay charges but made him leave..he's been thieving ever since. Last week he called my mom to ask if his grandmother was there..mom said yes, he said he did not want to sleek with her just did not know where she was.....well she came home to find many more of her treaures missing and money she had put aside for a trip missing..not a break in because no damage, whoever was there made himself at home. She is sure it is he...his mom has a key so he may have helped himself to it! Now tomorrow she is off to the bank , over the past month over $5,000 has been withdrawn fro m her account in smaller amounts...hard to convince her the right thing to have done the first time would have been to lay charges....not good!
Still on the chesterfield half holding my head..just can't seem to get rid of this headache...going to try for a hot bath then will go onto your link Dianne.
Betty, so sorry you still have the headache!!! I know how that feels, when I get bad ones they can last 3-4 days....
Yes I can be very stubborn.....
Mary, the book was Fantastic. ^_^ one of my sons wants to read it, he is just about done with the book he is "on"....He will probably read this one in one night....he reads huge books in just a few sittings!!! then I will send it of to Judy...
Barb, and Betty.............pictures of snow are gorgeous !! but I really HATE the stuff....sorry you are still getting more....
not trying to be mean for sure...but I am in a tank top, shorts...and sweating !!!! and loving it !!! I am so Happy to have the cold weather done ( I hope ).....tons of dead stuff in yard to clean up, we did a little bit, crape myrtles showing a touch of green today ! Mexican petunias popping up a few inches above ground....no sign of many of my day lillies :( think I have lost those :( they usually poke out before the mex. petunias.... some of the azaleas have buds.....don't mean to torment any of you...just keep in mind it is working it's way north....we get it earlier than you....by the time you get your goodies in full bloom...we have only greenery again...as it is then too hot for much of anything !!!
Wow, we had a record high of 99 today!
Betty, I have never had an issue with spending the little bit more to send a swap item to Canada....I guess it could be a bit more pricey when sending something heavy??!!
as I have only done quilt blocks / pot holders with you and a few of your neighbors...I did not find the price so much different to make me feel like it was too much......You are very "worth the little bit more"
Betty, I don't mind spending the little bit extra either. Please don't stop joining the swaps?
Betty I would love having a swap with you too. I think I may be the bad elf here when I said something I am working on right now would cost the nmoon to send to Canada, I did not mean it as I would not be happy to swap with you, it is just this one thing I am working on will be "HEAVY" lol and I do mean heavy. It is going to cost the nmoon to get it where it is going now.
So PLEASE donot drop out of swaps because I said something the wrong way. It would really upset me !! I am upset now thinking I hurt your feelings,, humm now what can I send that does not weigh as much as the other mystery gift I am working on now,,,Thinking cap on here..ahhhhhh , I know..hee, hee.
Well, ya know....if ya send something heavy...stateside...to me....and I meet Betty with it on one of her ventures over....that might get her over here to see me more often!!! LOL
Hello To All !
Hey Debbie ! When Betty stops by to visit the next time... Please mail her to me :)
Hey Mud Elf... I don't think anyone is upset... Can't wait to find out what the item is... Love your pic....
LK - Thank you for playing scrabble with me ! I am really finding it addicting...playing a bunch of games now... I Can believe ya'll broke a record today at 99 because your weather always seems to mirror ours...albeit a bit warmer... We had another HOT spring day...
THUNDER !!!! YOU MADE MY DAY ! :) So hoping you would love the book as much as I did....and I'm so glad your son wants to read it. He is a few years older than mine as I recall... wish I had passed on the love of reading to mine...somehow did not....
My Mex petunias are peeking out too, daylilies...and some surprises that I didn't think would make it. Jury still out on 3 hibiscus...
Today we went to the nursery and I planted sweet basil, parsley, and a stranger... called lupine... Texas State Flower... I'd never heard of it...and not much on DG about it other than seeds are poison so I'll have to watch Belle....
Have you heard of it LK? Anyway DH also planted 2 tomatoes....
From the looks of Belle's paws right now... all or any of the above MAY BE dug up by now.... Hmmm....
(((HUGS))))) Dianne !
Crissy - I remember watching my Dad take down a pine near our house... somehow he hoisted himself up so high... rope around the branch (then trunk) then would cut... then lower that piece down. .....and Repeat about a million times. Dad was Superman.....
Betty - think Crissy wants it down in anticipation of a tornado...but I might be wrong...
Shirley - we had Popeye's Fried Chicken yesterday and I thought about you guys. I'd get KFC but we dont' have one close to the house. So KFC reminds me of vacation because that's what I get treated to when we head to Florida and there are a few on the drive..... Ya'll probably have never heard of Popeye's but its a HUGE Cajun chain down here...
I'll check back in a bit... Love to all,
Mary
Blue bonnets grow wild all over mid and east Texas. Not too much here, it is too dry. hope you soaked the seeds, cause they can be quite stubborn to start from seed.
Hey LK - Well - we bought one small plant... I'm very curious about it since not much on DG about it....but some said invasive and some said poison seed... wow - it is such a cute little plant LOL... but YES - called a Bluebonnet... Are you planting yet ?
Hey Deb, LK and All......
Well - the leaves are similar..but varigated...and fuzzy...and this plant is only about 4 inches tall... IF that....
So that pic Deb is similar to what I found on DG... We'll see... maybe it won't even make it....
I went outside with flashlight... to see what "Belle'had dug up.....seems she is intent on spreading some soil that DH Bought in a bag..... so SO FAR... the Basil, Parsley, Creeping Phlox, and Lupine as well as tomatoes are OKAY! LOL.....
Morning, looks like rain, still under the weather but will head out to work and see how I cope with the day...
want to gab but will save that in small increments...sorry!
Elf...absolutely not..don't you dare feel badly, it was just a conversation I had with someone and I realized the extra cost would be difficult for many....my feelings are not hurt, just not sure why I didn't think of this on my own..lol
well of to tidy myself up, would like to look human today.
gab when I get to work
Hummm, well Maybe I will not be upset then,, but you still have to stay in the swaps!!
The weather is supposed to be horrible here today and I was going to Dothan which is approximately 90 miles from here. But the weather station says not to travel to far. I am guessing I will be staying home,,,whaaaaa.
Good morning, DH borrowed his brothers car, so I am off and running, taking DS to the dermo. doc.
It is in the 50's out there...with rain. And by bedtime tonight in the teens!! This just isn't right!!
Off and running here.....just saying good morning and have a good day
Debbie
Drive carefully Betty and Debbie! It is brutal outside here right now - freezing rain. DH just 'had' to take the truck into the garage this am - I am waiting for a call to tell me he didn't make it out the lane.Pessimisstic soul aren't I?
I am just going to beak in here too - Betty is right that postage from Canada to the US of packages is very expensive. When I had my SG business and I shipped alot we found it a huge expensive. Often someone would drive over the border to Waterdown and have things mailed from there - saved oodles of $$$'s.That is just about an hour drive from Kingston so wasn't such a bad drive.
Thinking of Anne and Mike today. Is the surgery at PMH, Sunnybrook ot ST Mike's Betty?Sending positive thoughts and prayers their way.
Mary I have both Lupines (love them!)and Bluebonnents - the Lupines are taller or at least the ones I have. They provide a riot of colour in the garden - makes me smile. Anxious to see how the 3 Tree Lilies I planted will grow here in my soil and climate. You can be assured they will be babied!
Dogs are at the door with their leashes in their mouths so guess I had better go - they won't be going far given what's out theere.
Dianne
