They did cause pain and death for most, Jen, but living with pain for 60 years is another story.
Coffee Break #54 Light at the end of the tunnel?
WW1 is what inspired the idea of 'rules of war', Geneva Convention, etc. Every war was horrible for victims, but this point in history, with its development of wmd and other advanced weapons, and sheer scale, set it apart.
The Patriot is the Revolutionary War. No war is nice.
Oh hee hee...yeah that's what I meant....LOL
I am SO not a morning person!!!!!
Oh yeah, I forgot.! You have company here, DS is way worse than I ever was.

Newest photo contest.
That's a bit strange.
I'm sure the vast majority of what we all grow is non-native.
I think a better idea would have been a contest for only native plants. That way, you showcase their beauty, thereby encouraging their use.
You're right. Why not suggest it to Melody?
I think they are trying to teach about 'invasive' species this week. Kudzu wins hands down, I bet. No one in the south has to be shown what it looks like. For invasive iris, I nominate I. pseudacorus. I certainly don't take pictures of it.
It's no doubt too late, pirl.
That's my point, Lucy. Don't 'boost' the image of invasives by inviting nice pics of them. Also, they really muddy things up by expanding to non-native. Many non-natives are perfectly well-behaved.
Couldn't find an invasive under all this snow! Pirl, my Mike is older.....his Dad was 88 when he died......
Too much to wish for that the invasives get smothered. Branches are broken off the viburnums.
Oh, dear.....hope they can be pruned.....
Some of the tops are still bent over & stuck in the snow--hope to fix them. Others are just broken.
I still have not done a walkaround.
I cant do a walk around unless I borrow DGD snow shoes :) It's still up to my hips in many places.
I have a few bare spots but still walking on a hard packed 12-14 inches snow.
Here too, Pixie. DH snowshoes are next to the front door where they share the space with my cane. I have used it for the icy driveway but no need at store as their parking lot has been well plowed. they still have big piles near the street, but I don't slide down those.
I'm not planting anything 'till it warms up. I asked Santa for a pneumatic drill but he was too busy with Europe's freaky weather, so I'm waiting until it warms up enough here to plant daisies..
27°, mostly clear. ☺
They're on the move!

Got my 8X10 prints back from mpix. Wow - fantastic.
New iPad looks real cool. I'll be getting one.
Horrible about the sailors gunned down in Germany.
Thought they were airmen......just awful, anyway you look at it! Hope the hummers take their time getting up here......flowers are going to be late!
Sorry, yes.
Oh what was that????? Where???? My nephew is stationed in Germany
Frankfurt airport.
Ok, he wasn't at the airport today...
The victims were stationed in England.
People are sick!
So sad, it's one thing when you're in there fighting the war, you expect to be shot at when you're fighting but geez
The porch is alive again with the fragrance of a tropical. This time it's the flower they use to produce Chanel No. 5. Forgot the name. Yummy!
Never go to bed angry.
