Money Matters - Part 5
WOW!!!
Just paid 3.75 for gas!
The electric bill after mom died showed a dramatic decrease. Guess it was from the oxygen machine and the adjustable-pressure air matttress on her bed. Nothing else has changed.
Wow - didn't think they would use much.
We didn't either. They were kinda noisy, too.
Oil closed close to $106 per barrel today! Highest in almost three years. Gold is at another all-time high.
Do you remember those Franklin Half dollars and pre-1965 Washington quarters ? The half-dollars currently have a silver content value of $13.51 each. The quarters have a silver content value of $6.75. Silver was at $37.36 an ounce today, up nearly 40% in the last two months.
I should have saved them when I was younger rather than save a jar full of pennies.
Yes, silver has been on a real tear.
Off the subject. I have what is called Dry Eye for about a year now. The tear ducts are clogged with FAT. I am not FAT so why in the heck do I have FAT in my tear ducts?
I am in agony as it feels like there is seran wrap in my eye balls. Its been bad now for 2 days.
I want to rip the darn things out of my head !!! This is not a joke.
Been to the doc about it?
Yes nothing they can really do to make it go away. Warm moist wash cloths 10 mins, 2 times a day. Take a Flax Vitiamin. Flax has the most omega 3 to help keep the ducts oiled.
They have not put me as Chronic Dry Eye yet. If they do it might be a drug like Restasis.
I am in a fog litterally and cant hardley see what I am typing.
Good Night Fellow Dgers.
Wow. Tell them it's much worse now!
Ya, tell them it got worse
too much eye candy is my guess sherrie
For your "Peace of Mind"... HAH! A List of US reactors with same weak containment design as Fukushima...
http://www.beyondnuclear.org/home/2011/3/12/list-of-us-reactors-with-same-weak-containment-design-as-fuk.html
oh just wonderful
I only posted that list because Victor mentioned how little info is available about who designed or built the plant in Japan.
Wasn't me. Someone else posted that (Sherrie, I think). I replied that it was public knowledge who owned and operated it, as well as the GE design. I also posted earlier that we have about 25 of the same design reactors here. Maybe it was a different thread?? I also said that pressurized water reactors are better in general. I read the other day, though, that an engineer reported cracks in the containment vessel of that reactor in Japan and was ignored. He quit. This was decades ago.
We did work for all the biggies in the nuke fuel field. GE always thought they were better than everyone. They stopped testing with us a long time ago and built their own test facility in California. Heard they had many problems over the years.
It was me I think? I was thinking GE was in bed with Tepco.
Royal Wedding says: No cell phones going off or texting. Three quarters of the people are not able to do that anymore! Maybe they all need to go to Cell Phone or Texting Anonymous, so they wont passout or go through DT'S !!!! I know alot of people that needs that.
Oops, bad memory. :)
Too bad they can't build them in space and transmit the energy back to earth..
That would be called a weapon! Their danger is over-hyped. Fossil fuels kill way more people. They just should not be built near active seismic zones or dense populations. They provide 20% of US electricity and cannot be replaced overnight.
Heard on the radio this AM that LL Bean will stop charging for shipping. You know they will just absorb it in the price of the items.

Of course
Speaking of GE - 2010 profit of 14.2 billion. Taxes paid - $0. In fact, they 'made' 3.2 billion due to tax benefits. They're well-connected.
When I first saw that name 'Fifth Third Bank' a couple years ago I thought someone made that up
Wish I was GE's CEO
we have Fifth Third Banks all over here, then I saw it's based in southern OH.
It was Chase bank, she did get all her $ back from them
GE sounds like they're practically a gov't company, don't they delve in super secret submarine technology also?...
I came across this note on a blog yesterday, and since I'm not part of the NE Forum, thought I'd post it here.
...many of the New England farms are weeks behind in getting their vegetable crops started. Unlike southern and western states, who draw most of their seasonal labor from central America, New England farm labor comes from Jamaica.
Due to some retaliatory nonsense between the US and Jamaica involving the legal status of captured drug lord Christopher Coke, all Jamaican work visas have been delayed. If the situation isn’t resolved soon, then local farms will never get caught up, and will have a severely shortened growing season, if they manage to have one at all.
Here in Maine....French-Catholic families just have a lot of kids, you don't have to worry about needing migrant workers that way. LOL
Anthem-Blue Cross Blue Shield is trying raise their rates again and I for one have had it! They show 400% profit and they want more money.... WHY??
Thought the world was ending next year.
Victor, at the rate things are going downhill that prediction now seems a possibility!
