Money Matters - Part 5

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

gas went down $.10, I beet they raise it $.20 tomorrow.:(

I would suggest to stock up on cans of Tuna

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I have a pending case order of sardines in olive oil. Cheaper than tuna, no mercury problems, and more nutrients.

Tuna will be making their run from Japan to the US soon.

So sad a few weeks ago to read that the last sardine canning co in the US closed down, reminded me of the movie "Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs"

Went past gas station today $3.57 for reg

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I read that, too. Many decent small businesses are long gone...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - oil blew past $110 per barrel today.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

gas up to $3.89 today. I guess this will never end :(

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sure it will... when the world runs out of gas.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Gas was 3.79 here on tuesday when I filled up, oil fill up was on Tuesday too ...it was $3.59 a gallon.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Yesterday, I took some of mom's jewelry and a tooth with a diamond-studded gold crown. I was pleasantly surprised at some of the pieces. The gold crown's scrap value was $55. I'll have mom's rings resized to fit me and scrap some men's rings and use the small diamonds to make another ring.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just paid $3.83.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I have thought about selling some scrap gold I have, but in the my analysis it may be worth more later on if things get tougher. I worked with an refugee from Budapest 20 years after WWII, and he continued to buy old gold jewelry at yard sales, etc.... always reminding me that those cheap rings and bracelets were the only thing they could trade for food during the war. No one would take any kind of currency even if you had some.

gas going up and up and up. What is this world coming too?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Food too.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I read somewhere that Walmart expects to increase food prices by 20% to as much as 50% by May if not sooner.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Corn has gone up so much and it's such a big part of the whole food chain. Grow more of your own food!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm building a farm in my backyard next week.. Theft at supermarkets may increase, increased security to make sure people don't steal food..
used to be able to pick up a pack of razor blades and take them to the counter, now most places keep them under lock and key.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Crazy schick!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oil @ $113. Airlines raising prices for the 10th time in 3 months.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Because of the earthquake in Japan, almost all production for Nikon has stopped. The price of their lenses has soared in response. I can sell just about any one of them for more than I paid.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Gas 3.99/ gal here as of tonight.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ouch! Trying to remember if I paid $4 when it was real high in '08. Don't think so.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

No, I never did either, premium is up at $4.29, so I figure come summer, memorial day, tourists going to the beaches, Hamptons, etc, etc. I'm looking at 4.25 easy if not more.. I'll start worrying when it goes to $7.00
- going to be a long hot summer...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Crazy. If anything starts in Saudi Arabia, the sky's the limit.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Should be very interesting this winter with heating oil, we'll set a new record... lots of people going to be cold & sick.

If Saudia Arabia did something drastic it would be a global melt down and the world dont need that right now.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

lost my wallet today - took my wifes exterra to the dump and placed the wallet on the hood as i was packing the car - forgot that it was there - stopped at the hardware store on the way home - light bulb moment - drove home looking for the wallet on the road, no luck - a neighbor picked it up and brought it back - we had a good laugh - he left a coffee cup on his truck last week that crashed to the ground - thank god he found it - tried to give him 20 and he refused and gave me a calender from his repair shop.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Whew - great luck! It's such a hassle.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

All the DC pols are fighting to take credit for cutting 38 billion from the remainder of this year's budget. For a HUGE dose of reality, 54 billion was added to the deficit in the WEEK before the deal. Shows how incredibly big this problem is.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Gives you an idea of how big the lies are too..

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Glad you got your wallet back, Wha. It can be a real hassle to replace everything.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx jan - i was not a happy guy when i realized what had happened to say the least

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Of course his neighbor has been charging up a storm!!

No Wife

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
