Money Matters - Part 5
I get the biz and personal done at the same time so don't get it done till late March
You do it, or an acct?
accountant
Always get a refund....but haven't done them yet. Have an appt. the end of the month.
We still have to do ours. We do our own. Last year we owned, hoping not to this year.
DW does the taxes, I have trouble counting money, especially when I have to subtract from my refund...
I'm doing my taxes on TurboTax again this year. I've already concluded that I am going to almost break even on my federal taxes but I'm going to have to cut off an arm and a leg to appease the state of California so I'm in no hurry to actually file my taxes yet.
Only and arm and a leg - they must be getting their act together!
Gas jumped another penny today. $3.58.
They took my other arm and leg last year.
For the premium stuff, gas is $3.99 today. I'm thankful that I only drive about 3 miles a day.
Wow.
regular yesterday $3.27
We're up to $3.24 now
$3.35 today. Filled up my mini-truck and put 4 gals into a gas can, spent $55.
$3.67
We're up to $3.49
filled up this morning and did not look :)
Probably better that you didn't. Our son borrows our car sometimes to drive to grad school and he fills it up for us.
Went up 17 cents on the NJ Parkway. They can only change it once a week.
Good thing I don't use the pkwy
Who do they think the're fooling!? Gas has gone down $.04. It'll only go up again.
Oil closed at almost $105 per barrel! That's why the market dropped so much, despite a decent jobs report.
$3.71 for reg.
ow WC...filled up today was $3.52
Gads... the price here went up 10¢ while I was grocery shopping!
Hope you learned your lesson!
Yep. Don't buy groceries!
You got it!
$3.79 for reg.
As of yesterday morning, oil was up 25% in just the few weeks since the Libyan unrest started.
Went past a station yesterday about 1/2 hr north of us, their regular was 3.26
Report out today that government payouts - ss, medicare, unemployment, etc., make up 35% of all wages and salaries in the country! This compares with 21% in 2000 and 10% in 1960. Yikes. Will only get worse as boomers retire. Remember the saying about sitting in the cart vs. pulling it.
LOL! They tell the story about me as a toddler, being in a harness with a hook to the clothesline to keep me from running off.
Today, I got gas on the NJ turnpike, cuz I knew that its prices were the cheapest (at least until Friday) that I would see. $3.25. I filled up at the last service area before I got home to take the best advantage of it. In my town it was $3.28.
Being an executrix of an estate is not very fun. I'm thankful that there isn't any real estate to sell.
Big hug ((((Jan)))), dealing with wills and estates are migraines waiting to happen.
I retained our lawyer, jsut to help keep me sane. I'm so afraid of messing up. I've been fine emotionally, until I talked to my oldest brother tonight, who told me how much he appreciated that I took care of our mom. I knew it, but the tears just flowed, especially since he is trying soooo hard to quit smoking. She would have been so pleased.
Good luck, Jan.
I feel for my older sis too going thru all of my mom's stuff. Don't let it get you crazy Jan
