It's 18 degrees here. Yesterday was horrible with high winds and cold temps and now we have a snow advisory saying 3-6 inches of snow on the way. Bye bye crocuses.

Good morning, all.
Currently 16 degrees and sunny in WNY. Going up to 29 degrees. Snow predicted to start tonight and go into tomorrow with several inches of accumulation.
Another trip day for us as my wife and I will be leaving here to drive an hour to pick up my aunt and her granddaughter, then drive another hour to visit my dad in the nursing home. We are planning to move my dad to an assisted living facility early this week which is only a 15 minute drive from our house. Life will be much easier then. Bottom line is that I hope the snow predicted for tonight does hold off until we get home.
Have a blessed and super Sunday, folks.
-Dave
It's -7 with the windchill, snow on the way. And still quite windy!
the wind is finally dying down... but still small gusts now and then... 21 now.. going to 38... 1 - 3 inches tonight
it was 10 this morning and still windy - branches are down all over the yard - hate white pines!
Same here, Bill! The birds love the pines, but I need to take the tall ones down....they are leaning toward my neighbor's house, & shedding branches like crazy....still windy & 19 coooold degrees, but it's sunny, & I'm feeling stronger every day.
30° here, Northwest winds at 22 mph giving us a windchill of 15° and it's clear, sunny skies on this Sunday!
Going up to 34° today, wind will keep it feeling like 21°. Clouds gathering later today with snow beginning tonight, low will be about 26°. A wintry mix of precipitation for tomorrow am expected here.
I also have the dilemma with the pines. I want them for the wind break, the birds love them, but my neighbor has his three cars parked right under them. On windy nights my husband and I lay awake waiting for that snap. They have to come down. Glad go hear people are healing. The flu is raging here.
Sunny and the wind has backed down after blowing all last night. I had spent a good deal of time yesterday cleaning up dead branches that came down in the pine woods over the last couple of months, but ours are Pitch Pine (Pinus rigida) not white (Pinus strobus), and no more branches came down last night, thankfully.
Wind from the NW at 14 MPH
Temperature 30.9 F
candyinpok, I talked to a friend up in Hudson NY this morning and he said that they lost in a storm sometime in the last week or so, while they were in NYC their whole redwood pergola and all the heavy railing off a deck. It was all totally ripped apart by a storm. Tornado? Not ice. Strange. It was only a few years old and well built. They can't figure it out, but they said you guys had been having wicked wind. Hope your trees don't come down on their own and on your neighbors cars. Insurance people said they were all backed up with recent home damage. Patti
Glad that you are on the mend. RD.
Wind has finally died down & sunny with a temp of 28°. However it feels colder than usual. I'm told the air is particularly sharp (for a reason I can't remember).
My white pines have to go, tired of the mess every year.
That wind was crazy!!!!
had a good day outside - skiing was much better today and spent the afternoon cutting up the branches from the oak into 3' lenghts to burn - saved a bunch of funky branches for bird house stands
It's turned cold again here. We are now having freezing rain/snow mix. The snow was pretty much gone, not anymore!
Patti, it seems to me we are having high wind warnings on a very frequent basis. We've been here 20 years, and I don't remember this being the case before. Over the last 8 years we've had some instances of down bursts that have done some serious but local damage. One happened last spring very close to my house. Our wind advisory ended at noon today, thank goodness. I don't sleep well because I'm always listening for that crack. We did lose some Maple tree branches last spring, so that tree will have to come out as well. It's had too much damage. All these trees predate us. One of the reasons I wanted this house was because the back yard is surrounded by trees. I love looking out at them and I love the birds that visit us because we've got woodland behind us.
Now we're awaiting the snow. Supposedly 3-6 inches starting at midnight. I just spotted the crocuses coming up.
Crocus is a good sign, but sorry about more snow. Stay warm and hoping you don't hear a crack in the night. Patti
37º right now. I did some outside work today but it was still breezy and cold. Snow is forecast here too, but changing to rain tomorrow.
How I long for that word....rain! Thanks, Iris, just wish the weather was warmer so I could get outside......Candy, know what you mean about the wind....have been in this house 36 years, & don't remember such horrible wind as in the last few years.....
3 inches down... looks like it is slowing down now
It's 14 degree's and snowing here too.......
It's 22 degrees and there are 3" of snow on the ground. We're still getting light snow falling. My feeders are covered with birds.
the dogs tracks are covered up already
was 20 this morning with light snow - the drive to work was not bad at all.
Snowing at the moment. Just a very light covering so far. Patti
21° Light snow , should stop by this afternoon. DH just went out & brushed some off the car. More on Fri. I can really do without it.
I think we got about 3".....it's stopped, the plow guy has been here, so I think I can get into town......
Good morning, all.
Currently 16 degrees going up to 21 in WNY. We got about 3" of snow overnight and a bit more coming.
Have a blessed and marvelous Monday, folks.
-Dave
About 1" here. Winter advisories cancelled & storm going out to sea. Still flakes coming down, but DH cleared the driveway with a broom.
Looks like about four or five here. 27 degrees.
Well I woke up at 10:30 nothing on the ground but some moisture, no snow evidence...I'll have to ask hubby later if he woke to snow on the ground
DH was called in to work @ 2am for snow plow duty. Currently 28°, windy and still freezing rain/snow mix. Was hard to open the car doors this am because of last night's ice.
30° here with a with a chilly 14 mph wind making it feel like 15° and we have totally cloudy skies with occasional light snow.
Got five inches of nice fresh snow to cover up all that dirty snow. Yesterday 40% of the lawn was visible, now it's covered all up again, some spots still over a foot deep. Going up to 35° today, but it will feel like 29° at most. Northern winds will keep it feeling cold for the next few days. A little more snow expected tonight with a low of 17°.
We don't have even an inch here. Patti
Only got about an inch, I'm ok with that!
We got 3" then the sun came out and the weather said it was 21 degree's. Should of read a little further before I went out ....the 14MPH wind that assaulted me was artic at best!
We ended up getting close to 8"
sorry guys, we only had a dusting this morn which melted by the time I was awake
very cold and windy though
don't worry Jen.. it is getting you tomorrow
UGH
