Wow Debbie you must be so pround of your DS. And very good looking too.
Any turkey left overs?
Way to go LK. You will need to keep us posted on how you like it>
coffee is on
Best/Worse/?learn today, chat with friends
Morning,
Mild out there today, praying we don't get the freezing rain they are calling for later today/tomorrow morning, drats..knew I should have transferred the telephones to my house..not always on target so we'll wait and see.
Debbie, omg how proud you must have been..see, tides beginning to turn..good things on their way for you and yours! You got to wonder with these kids, they go through such turmoil in their teens and then what wonderful men/women they become.
Susan, great job with your project..yes, it's like that with so many of the crafts, do one project and you have leftovers, buy enough to use leftovers and voila another bin..had that happen with my rag quilts..finally threw the last of the few blocks left int he garbage after making 2 with the leftovers.
Turkey was great, kids enjoyed. Greg fixed a plate for Mel who didn't come..she saw her father for all of 10 minutes and they had to leave, he wasn't doing well and they were in to give him needles so home she went and thought she had done quite enough for one day, I personally think she did far more than she should have and will pay for it today!
LindayKay, wonder if the baby accuquilt takes same dies as mine? Know my dies are different than the studio accuquilt..not cheap, if we lived closer we could share...now watch you go with your sewing...lol
Laura, is this a day of rest for you or do they run taxi service on Sunday's? yes, have turkey left over.. Have turkey/ham left for you and cake for all this morning..
Debbie, you tell Shane his "auntie" Dianne is so proud of him not only for achieving all of those awards but most of for making his mom's heart want to burst with pride. Purple hair this time Shane????
Hope Mel will take it easy Betty. She will 'get' what that means after 2 days os disobeying orders and man will she wish she has listened. Tarred with the same brush as a lot of us are.
Dianne
Bread looks great.
No taxi service today but sending DH out......to play golf so will take kids to park to burn some energy off.
This was a no soccer weekend.
Temp to get to high 51 today.
YUM Turkey!!!! Brakes on it are not fixed, it's such a small engine it almost doesn't need brakes but I told him I Want The Brakes Fixed!!! gggrrrrrrr No, we don't have helmets.
Melanie has a long haul ahead of her if she's already bored LOL! Glad to see her bored, that's a good thing! Betty I know you can get her into something!
Congrats LK!! That's awesome!!
Debbie Congrats to your son!!! I bet you are in shock! What a sweet surprise!!
Susan she is way way cute!
Oh YUK freezing rain!!! I knock on wood we haven't had any of that this winter and that's all we usually get!
It's sunny and supposed to be 67* today!! I'll be outside playing!!!
Mild out there this morning, just got my snowsuit on, high boots and will go take snow off roof of back shed and make sure all the decks are clared just in case in does rain and freeze..besides, can do with fresh air and exercise...Greg told me to call him but he's got enough on his plate right now.
OMG Crissy, out to get helmets, know it's probably not a law in your neck of the woods but safety first. shaking my head here, no brakes!!! not a good thing regardless of the speed you are driving at.
You are all enjoying warmer temps, can that be that spring is just around the corner..
Gabbed to Darlene for 1/2 hr. - she loves to chat..lol..said that I was going to hire Cathy this spring to do the main yard clean-up, she could use the work and with my shoulder problems don't need to be raking..
best I get at it..
Going to my favorite quilt shop 45min one way will see what great deals I can come across.
Sun is shining and 51 so far.
Grabbing my coat and my hat...ooops forgot, can wear shorts & light top...coming with you Laura..
Congrats on all the medals your son won! You must be proud!
Betty, I went to the accuquilt site, and the dies are different for the baby go cutter. Some of the dies are the same, but most are different.
http://www.accuquilt.com/GO-Baby-C523.aspx
These are the dies for the baby go!
Kinda slow on the uptake today...Debbie - that's wonderufl aboutyout your son. It is so great when they totally surprise you.
Hope Shirley and Tubby are enjoying their company and that Tubby rest when needed.
Also hope Shirley can join in on some of the sewing swaps.
Laura, I hope you can show pictures.
Crissy - be safe first....
Hoping Dianne is feeling better this weekend.
And LK - what a wonderfu win. Congratulations...You will have fun.
I've been kinds goofing off today. Norm is working till 4 and I've been playing on the computer and making binding for quilts all day. Very lazy.
Waving to all I may have missed...
Quite the day, got everything done inside outside that I wanted to do.
Ann came over and brought me supper/fresh bread as a treat..nice of her..said she was coming for a visit as she needed a friend. Mike is doing really poorly this week, she stood her ground and had the girls come up for the weekend and finally tell them the prognosis, got to tell you quite a few tears shed..Mike wanted to do it alone but she insisted on being there, knew he'd white wash the entire thing and she wanted all told to them..he was in bed sleeping when she left and just needed to get out...she also typed up a form and had him sign it after talking to the seniors home about his mom, Mike is an only child, they did not confide in the seniors home and think the home staff were thinking poorly of them not visiting of late but now that they know what's going on they'll be sure to support his mom when need be. She wants to go the the lawyers now and have the proper papers drawn up pertaining to his mom just incase, doesn't want to be saddled with a lot of todo when it can be simplified by doing it now.
Cathy just called, the often look after her sister's black lab who is quite elderly, thinks he just broke a leg so called the sister to come pick him up..it was time 2 years ago to have the dog put to sleep but they like many others just couldn't do it, imagine this time they will have to.
Mel insisted she visit with her father this afternoon so I've made spaghetti sauce and they can drop in and pick up a container for the supper..told Greg I was helping out as best I could..said I wasn't helping Mel as it's he who has to take on being Mrs. Mom so appreciated the effort.
Linda Kay off to check the site.
Barb, you premake your bindings? nice having a day to yourself.
Haven't seen Judy on, bet she's suffering the after effects of the Bahama party lol
Shirley I imagine is busy entertaining..
Dianne, well, maybe she's bartering on the bay - muffins for fish!
Working on 2nd row of the 12 months of Christmas piece..coming along fine..
Suzanne was in Toronto today and stopped at the office on her way home. I had telephone to tell her that the weather changes from minute to minute but could she please forward the telephones to my house just incase roads are icy tomorrow..better safe than sorry..would be no option but to go in if we have freezing rain..soooo let it rain/let it rain/let it rain...oooh must be freezing rain for all of 1hour..
Looking forward to next weekend which is our long weekend for 'Family Day'
Better go stir spaghetti sauce before I burn it..
Betty, for your dear Ann, and others....once Mike passes, she no longer has any legal rights to help his family via marriage. I had been doing so much for my step father...but once mom passed....I could do nothing legally. SO, get it all done thru the lawyers NOW or it will be a big mess. Anyone realated via marriage...it becomes null and void.
With Mike being the only child lawyer said if paperwork done now she can look after the estate, really no $$$ just cheques into account and gmt. assistance for the home, transfer from account to home. She has no family sibbling..Ann/Mike's girls are the only family..best they try and get things in order!
Playing with row 2 ..picked green for the bows but now I'm not sure because of green background..ready to start going around candycanes..not even sure what thread I shall use...any thoughts
Betty, I have to say the green bows get lost on the green fabric. I would use a red or gold fabric?
Betty, not just for money...but medical treatment should the Mom be deemed incompetent.
yummy - turkey sounds good!!
Betty - you burn spaghetti? Perish the thought LOL
Betty what if you used black thread and make it look like an outline for candycane??? just a thought
Missed you at the fabric store.
Hello All -
I am keeping up via lurking... just a lot going on. Debbie - I am SO proud of your son. I am so SO proud of you as well....
Barb..((HUGS)).... our temps are very similar to Linda Kay's temps.... we had a nice day today....was all I could do to not dig my hands in and start clearing out stuff...
But we may still yet have freezes so I need to wait.....
Thunder.... am wondering if you have had time to read. I had ordered another book from the same author and read the WHOLE thing this weekend. It was a mirror to my life.... and not one I would mail out... but had so SO many parallels to me... was surreal...
I'll touch base later.... sorry no messages...we've just had a few family hiccups as of late and I'm stressed to the max.
Teenagers.
Love you all
Mary
Gobble, gobble, gobble everyone. Oooops translated for those of you who were not turkey gluttons like DH and myself this weekend it means HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Dianne
Goodmorning to all
Coffee is on
Happy Valentines Day everyone! saying this with a smile even though it's not my favorite day of the year, but to those of you with hubbies, pass on a hug and kiss for me will you, tell them they sure have a gem in you!!!
Mary, heart goes out to you, sometimes things are just so overwhelming..know we're here for you.
Laura, those last 2 fabrics would be perfect for my 12 month christmas quilt...drats, should have driven faster...what are you making with these?
Perhaps you just like having stock..
LOL Laura, understood the gobble/gobble..
Susan, no I did n ot burn the spaghetti this time, everything perfect and family much appreciative.
Had company yesterday afternoon and again last night, by the time all left I was tired..bones and muscles aching so managed to stay up until 11pm, took painkillers and had a somewhat good night's rest.
Of course 1st thing this morning I was up looking to see if we had freezing rain, none but will have to be cautious on the road as there is lots of black ice.
Gab in a bit
Betty making a tree skirt that is on my list of things to do. Will post pictures hopefully today.
Drive carefully.
Ride in was a mix of rain/sleet/snow..guess it changes by the minute as temps drop.
Anxious to see your tree skirt Laura, you'll start it already? Lordy girl you never stop!
Betty if you would like xmas fabric just let me know.
How kind..struggling to get through the next 2 rows as they need background fabrics but after that it's blocks that make up the design..still hoping to get to Joann's ..perhaps 1st part of March
Well just let me know I am but a D-mail away. Good luck at Joann's the one here is out of xmas fabric.
Sunny and in the 50 today. Really hard to stay inside and sew want to go play in my little patch of dirt.
Ahhhh you are making me so envious...get to play in the gardens..drats, I'll not get to do that until late April/early May.
Cathy and her mom dropped in last night for a visit, gave Cathy her neck warmer, she loved it and loved that I monogramed it for her. I have to write down the pattern forher mom, she'd like to make a few as Christmas gifts, there is the bad word again..lol
Anyway, I asked Cathy if I could hire her for a few days once the snow is gone to do the bulk of raking of leaves, she said she'd do it for free but that's a NO..finally agreed so that spring task is looked after.
Are any of you doing anything special today for Valentines Day..
HAPPY VALENTINE'S TO ALL!
I just wanted to pop in and say hi and let you know we survived the long weekend. It was a great time and it went so fast. The kids left about 15 - 20 min. ago. They won't get home till about 6 tonight. I really hated to see them leave. Tubby is taking a nap on his pillows at the table. I know I should get up and get something done, but will do later as I don't feel like it now.
There's still plenty of leftovers if anyone wants to come and enjoy. I won't have to cook much this week. I don't need it and Tubby hardly eats enough to keep a birs alive. I shouldn't complain as he ate breakfast with us this morning. I will probably lay down for a bit, as we have appts. today.
I will chat later and see what was all going on while I was not checking in. I have to tell you it was hard not checking in on all of you while our company was here.
Have a great day everyone - and HUGS to all for Valentine's.
Shirley
My "special" for today is just having the day off!!! getting to be with the family !!!
going to work on baby proofing the living room...grand daughter is coming soon, and she can now reach all the spots we used to "put up" stuff last time she was here !!! she is very good and will not touch things when you tell her no....but I would rather move stuff, than to have to tell her, my house is definitely not very child friendly...lots of do-dads every where....including sewing/quilting ...and I sure don't want her to get stuck with any pins !!!....she loves to grab the fabric scraps !!
we had freeze warnings again last night!! turned on the elec blanket when I went to bed, so I do not know how cold it got??? I hate the cold, and I know I should not complain, as we don't have the snow to deal with !!! butttttt I hate the cold!!!
Mary I have read the book through once, and am on the second go round !!! I like it a lot!!! I owe Judy some quilting,(from a swap) and will send her the book, with the blocks.....she is next.... on my sewing "to do" list....
love and hugs to Y'all ......Will you be my valentine????? ♥♥♥
Our Joann's doesn't have any Christmas fabric either.
LOL Cathy doesn't need to be doing it for free. That girl cracks me up.
Debbie's right about Mike and Ann, she needs to make sure Mike's mother is looked after while she's alive if the dr. deems her incompetent. Sending them prayers.
Be careful in that wintry mix! Is it supposed to get better throughout the day or worse?
I cleaned up the flowerbed in front of the house yesterday, rode our 4-wheeler for a little while up and down the road about 1000 times, that thing is fun, and celebrated Valentine's Day with Dave last night. We boycotted Applebee's in Benton, AR about a year ago because of poor service and crappy food. My mom and step-dad sent us a $50.00 Applebee's gift card for Christmas so instead of driving all the way to Hot Springs we decided we would use that and endure the Benton Applebee's one last time. Turns out they have a new manager who has completely turned the restaurant around and we had the best Applebee's experience we have ever had, and plan on going back! I'm going to email whoever I need to email at corporate and give that manager a thumbs up! We talked to him for a minute, he's young and has no problem helping out with whatever needs to be done, he was busing tables, helping waitresses carry food out, helping take orders, you name it! Then we came home and opened our cards and chocolates and long stem strawberries MMMMMMM
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!
just leaving, calling for flash freeze, weather is terrible so off I go
Betty hope your careful driving back home. Drats to driving in just to turn around and drive back.
Home safely, it's suppose to drop almost 15 degrees to -13 in a few hours, I'm so thankful Paul decided that it was safer having us leave..sooo nice working from home, might even slip into my nighty, doubt any of the callers would know..lol
Look at all the pretty sweets, thank you girls, know what I'll have with my coffee..
Jaye, how are you doing? Things settling down for you?
Shirley nice to see you post, wondered how your weekend with family went, bet you can use an afternoon nap, but not at the table with Tubby.
Bet you will miss the grandaughter..had hoped she consider staying another few weeks....
Thunder, how long will you have the grandaughter, don't remember childproofing my home when the kids were younger, they seemed ok with a 'no' but we worry much more when they are our grandchildren.
Crissy, love Appleby's, not sure why I keep forgetting to go to the one in Barrie, probably the distance and as for lunch, just don't have enough time to drive there and back and be served...omg, think Dave better get himself an atv seems as though you've taken over this one!
Laura/Linda Kay, the material I most have difficulties finding is anything with plaid look, Laura, just like your green material with red lines in it..should get you to get me 1/2 yard and I'll send postage and $$$'s.
Because all the girls come tomorrow, think I might finish the candycane pieces so I can put my sewing machine and supplies away until the weekend.
Might even get the 3 panels out (wood) that I'm painting for the washroom closet door..1 is almost done and the other 2 sketched but I'd like to finish up that project so I can buy shower drape and make floorcloth to match color scheme..springs coming, always get the urge to redecorate
Time to find something to do....
Hi Betty ^_^
God has been taking good care of me, since I release it all to Him!
Been busy trying to get my quilting commitments done, and The Machine decided to freeze up... the supposedly reliable Viking that had been in the shop twice!!! And this replaced the other brand new one I got. Just my luck!! Now I realized why I told Kel I won't sell the Singer Quantum!
Anyway, if you're looking for plaids... here are some at good prices.. http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.searchByName
Love you dear lady!
