HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUDY!!!!!!

We found a different ATV, this one is a 1995 Suzuki 250CC 2 wheel drive for $1000. We brought it home last Sunday and I found out yesterday while riding in the snow and ice that it ain't got no brakes!! LOL!!!! The gears work wonderfully though and Dave's going to put it in the shop this afternoon when he can get there.

I am safe at work! It took me 1 1/2 hours to get here but I'm here! When I go home it should be about 45*. Seems as though our problems with the internet at home keep showing up, as soon as it reaches 32* it peters out, but when it warms up to 32* it comes back on, LOL Dave thinks it's just the moisture from so much snow we normally don't have, plus we normally don't get this cold at night either.

Good Grief Betty, be careful on the ice and normally things do come in 3's.

Debbie many prayers are going out to you hun. There are many Government assistance programs out there, hopefully one will be able to help you, and No, mortgage companies, private loan companies, etc. do not care, it's just like a credit card.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Luckily you didn't get hurt while driving without brakes..am sure you'll both have loads of fun with it..had one at the farm then decided I liked the golf cart better..lol..slower..

Be careful on your way home Crissy..wow 1 1/2..did everyone show up, usually when weather conditions such as these it's the locals who don't make an attempt to make it..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I had it in first gear and was only going about 10mph so it was good, just a oh crap moment! LOL No, not everyone is here, there's a gal who lives further away than I do and she didn't come in today, I text her and told her to just stay home, it's not worth it. She has a big hill to go over that I don't have, it would probably have taken her 2 1/2 hours to get here just to go home 4 hours later. What's the point?

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's nice of you Crissy..do you have the capability when they are calling for bad weather to bring work home rather than putting yourself in danger...

Can just hear you now..oh no!!!!! awful feeling isn't it.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

No, I can't take anything home but I don't get paid enough to do so anyway. I still have a secretary title, it's a high secretary title but still just that, so on snow days I get to play all day!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lucky you!!! Guess if weather permits you and Dave will be playing with the ATV?

Less than 1 hour to go, had planned going straight home but now that I'm dropping off at MIL's will stop at a Florist in Elmvale for flowers for Melanie and then a quick boo in the fabric store

Oh Barb, that is so beautiful! You certainly have a gift.

Lexington Park, MD

Barb that is just beautiful.Did I miss who is this quilt for? And how will you quilt it?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I need help, just to say. I called my mom to complain about men in general and she told me "I hate Dave because he's a lazy s.o.b. and he needs to quit milking the unemployment system because I'm tired of paying for his lazy ass, you'd be better off if he would get a shovel and shovel snow out of your neighbors yards. This is why his first wife left him, because he's lazy and refused to work and you should leave him to. He's nothing but a s.o.b. and I don't like him."

I want to know where she gets her information because he's too hyper to be lazy and when he was married the first time he made $120k a year working for Fitjusu and Compaq. He cleans everything, cooks all of my meals, built a veggie garden and maintains it, takes care of the full acre of land, all I know is I'm never calling her again to complain about anything, this takes me back to my childhood with the anger I had to listen to all the time and my goodness!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Crissy let it go in one ear and out the other. You know better than to listen to that kind of crap. She is probably having a bad day so therefore everyone else has to have one too....

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Crissy, no empathy there, did you keep your cool? She just has to look at the entire USA situation to know Dave's situation is what's happening in most communities..not a lot of jobs out there..mom's...we won't go there!

Went into Elmvale Fabric shop, looked for Christmas material, she looked at me as though I was from another planet, told me I'd not be finding Christmas material until Sept./Oct. - no purchases there!

Got soup/donut/coffee for Nora (MIL)..rang doorbell and no answer, was just putting it between the doors when she opened it, thought maybe it was another one of her, 'here's Betty-let me hide' deals..lol..but not..
She appreciated my gesture..was just leaving when my SIL Marg dropped in with her night bag, told her to call me if they needed a ride to the hospital..Nora's been dealing with the flu these past few days and looked terrible..

Picked up a bouquet of flowers and drove to Greg and Melanie's..on the way I'm thinking,'now that's smart, go somewhere where someone has the flu and go see Melanie who just had an operation' so was prepared simply to knock at the door, hand over the flowers and leave...

Just before getting to Greg's I saw about 20 cars along the roadside and driveway where Cathy's Aunt lives, I expect she is now with the Lord!

Got to Greg's drive and saw his vehicle was idling, just as I got out of my car he and Kyle were coming out..Kyle had to be at work, Melanie was upstairs, not to get out of bed for 3 or 4 days at least so I offered to drive Kyle into Midland and pick him up around 10pm so that Greg could stay with Melanie..Noah he was off to a teen dance tonight..Greg thanked me, said he had the chills all afternoon and thought he might be coming down with something..glad it was earlier than my visit so he doesn't think I brought the germ from his grandma's.

Melanie's dad is being kept under for a few days because of the draining and the breathing apparatus but holding his own..

Off to watch a television show and try to keep awake until I get Kyle's call.

I kept my cool and got off the phone as fast as I could. Takes me back to childhood when she used to call me a selfish a**hole all the time, whatever, if the person isn't like her she doesn't like them regardless of who or what they are. People at work heard the argument and wondered who I was talking to and what they said, I just laughed it off, what do you do?

Wow Betty, that's a lot to take on, and forget that store! Maybe you're making something huge for next Christmas and you want to start on it now because you know with work and all it'll take you all year to finish it. Sheesh

I'm going to get off here for the night, hopefully my internet will stay up all night this time. I still want to upgrade, made the appt for Tuesday afternoon even tho Dave said no, he got a 4-wheeler that didn't go to the shop this morning, gonna have to have a discussion about that, I should be able to get my internet upgraded! So there!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm fine - been working since Wed noon.

BETTY! ouch, girl! I'll just bet you're all colours!

Family Day is Feb 21st, and it's a day off to spend with our families. Several provinces in Canada have this day, on the 3rd Mon in Feb.
Crissy - glad you kept your cool!
Barb - love the colours and the preciseness of your piecing! Wish I were so precise!

I made a little stuffed gorilla for the "Toys for Tots" thread in "the other room", and I think "she's" adorable! loved making her.

Morning everyone! Can you smell the apple pie I have cooking? Have a block of 6 year old cheddar to go with it or ice cream if you prefer. Coffee is a treat this morning French Vanilla and Hazelnut mix - tastes great, smells heavenly!
Snowing heavily right now and is 'supposed' to most of the day. But you know what those Weather Liars are like.Yesterday we were supposed to get quite a bit of snow but a high pressure sent it all down to Debbie. The nerve of Debbie, she wanted me to take that snow back - lol. Told her not yesterday but would today - so you can see I am a woman of my word.
Hope you are feeling better Judy and Susan!
Going to cook the 16 lb turkey today so soon there will be the smell of turkey wafting through the house. Yum!! How about you Shirely - are you cooking your bird today or tomorrow?
Finished a book last night called Left Neglected - excellent read. A very serious brain injury that I knew nothing about before reading the book. Author handled it with just the right amount of humour. I will certainly be researching this injury and its effects now.
What's everyone else up to this weekend? Stay warm and stay safe!
Crissy my teeth just clenched and my jaw started to hurt when you were telling us about your conversation with your DM. Been through that, sure don't wish those conversations on anyone. Did you even get a chance to tell DM that you didn't marry Dave for his $$$$ but for his bod-?lol she probably wouldn't even have heard what you said.
Pie needs to come out of the oven - 2 dogs lurking in the kitchen - they heard the timer go off so know something good is coming!

Morning,

No wonder I'm up early, the apple pie cooking and hazelnut coffee smell woke me up, and here it's Saturday morning I could have been sleeping, cut me a slice and pour me a cup!!!

It's snowing and blowing out there, Darlene is suppose to come this morning so we can attend the Winterfest Breakfast and do the craft show in town but not sure she will drive in witht he weather being as it is..she had a serious accident about 15 years ago and suffered major injury so doesn't drive in bad weather..I'm sure she'll call by 8 to let me know what's happening.

For his bod* Dianne, isn't that the reason we all got married? You've such a sense of humour...have me laughing!

Susan, you've done a fantastic job on your gorilla, some child will be thrilled to receive such a work of art!!!! How crafty you are.

Off to mop the floors then housework done for the weekend...

OMG! I have to go back and catch up later. I think I missed out onn quite a bit and will reread the chat later when there's more time.
Susan I can smell the coffee, I'll take a cup of Hazelnut and a piece of the apple pie. Do you ever make a warm cinamon and sugar sauce to put over the cheddar cheese when werve it? The sauce is warm and melts the cheese, it's delicious. You'll have to try it some time. I can't decide if I should make the turkey today or tomorrow, I'll ask them when everyone gets up. The DB made a brisket and DS from Lincoln made Chicken curry. DS is also binging a Tarimasu for desert, I have some cheesecake, rolls and I think there's a few other things around. I also made stuffed shells with crabmeat, shrimp and cream cheese. I haven't tried that before. I am gonna make a small piece of Brie in puff pastry with fruit and nuts in it to put on crackers. If anyone goes home hungry this week end it's their own fault.
Tubby and I are sitting here at the table having coffee, pepsi and a smoke while the rest are still sleeping. It was quite a day yesterday, I took Tubby to dialysis and went and got a few things. I got home and DM said DS from MO. was about here and to put the coffee on. She decided to stop part way down the country road and let her dogs run to the farm when her little Rat Terrier ran under her wheel. We had to make a quick trip to the Vet's. He has a broken bone, but the Vet felt her would heal okay with 30 - 40 days confinement to a kennel. He gave her some pain pills and an anti- inflammatory for him. It was better than the $3000 price tag of surgery. DS feels soooo.... bad, she is about beside her self. I told her he would be okay and it could have been alot worse. Her and brother both let their dogs run to the farm. I don't think she will ever do it again.
Tubby has the heating pad and blanket around him. I just hate to see him so cold, but I didn't turn the heat up a bunch as with cooking and cleaning today and all the bodies that will be here, it'll be way too warm.
Crissy, I'm sorry to hear your DM feels that way. Somedays you just can't make them all happy. Just remember, that you and God knows why you married your Hubby and that is all that matters. Besides, your DH has worked for his share of unemployment and that is better than all the one's the Gov. hands our money out to that never work, won't ever work and don't even belong to this country and they get more than anyone else. Oh well, I better not get started, I have a tendency to open mouth and tick a lot of people off.
Betty, please take it easy and hope that you heal up okay and without much discomfort. Hope Greg's wife gets well and sorry to hear about her family and wish them a speedy recovery and our sympathy. Please take care of yourself.
Well, some of the family is starting to come alive so will close for the day and check back this eve.
Oh I do love the little gorilla, he's a doll.
God Bless to all and have a good day.
Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, that sounds like a healthy breakfast..lol

You certainly have a full slate of activity going on in your household today, let your visitors help get things prepared, make things easier for yourself. Know Tubby will want to stay up and visit with everyone but hope he can find time to grab a few winks as not to become too overtired.

Yummy, talk about a buffet! Wish I had an interest in cooking..NOT going to happen in this lifetime though.

Snow is easing off a bit, need to shovel but not sure I'll do it before I go out or after...bad shed needs snow romoved from the roof, keep putting that off but better not do it for much longer or I'll be minus a storage area.

Doing a neck warmer for Cathy by hand and likely only have a few hours left to finish it so off I go, grab another coffee, maybe a muffin and knit until I know if Darlene is coming or not..have 3 other friends who have tables at the craft show so must make a showing even though I'm more tempted to leave my nightie on and play.

What do you all have planned for today? Something exciting I hope..

Lexington Park, MD

It sounds like everyone is really busy.
Apple pie and coffee yum.
Nothing going on here but sewing and taxi service.
Warm today 45 and sunny.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty - I have quite a bit of Christmas fabric. Is there anything in particular you looking for? Just give me a hint!!!

Verona, ON

Ohhhh Shirley it sounds like your house is the place to dine this weekend. Wish I could say to you forget the turkey I'll bring the one I am cooking. We can dream can't we!!
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Darlene will not be coming, roads are too bad, for me it's just around the corner so got dressed and waiting for 9am to start my day. Was able to make appt for 10:30 to have my hair cut so with all I've planned likely won't be home until close to noon hour.

Got the bright idea to machine embroider Cathy's initials on the neckwarmer..doesn't do as well as when on fabric but tried and she will know it's hers..lol..wool has to deep a pile..

Barb, you are much too generous..I'm going to continue the process and hope I've enough to do the 3 but if I run out along the way I'll be sure to ask for some, promise.

Laura..remember when I had the boys, seemed all I did was do the taxi run, worth it though.

With all the food going around this thread might take a run into town and look for prestuffed turkey, that way it can be cooked from frozen..no fresh turkey in my neighborhood.

Just had a muffin and now you've all made me hungry again.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Dianne that smells wonderful!!!

Shoot, she wouldn't have heard anything, I was trying to get her to stop but she just kept going on and on. She did call last night and apologize, I tried to explain to her how lazy Dave isn't but she just said that she didn't want to talk about it, I don't know if that means she knows she wrong and doesn't want to admit it or that she thinks she's right and I will never see the light so why even have a discussion. Either one fits her personality.

Shirley I get wound up like that too. I almost brought up the fact that she retired when she was 50 and is eating up all of my social security and I'll never be able to retire because of her. Now that would have been the wrong thing to say! I am so glad your family is coming to visit, and so bummed that Tubby is so cold all the time. I send prayers every day.

Susan she is sooooooo cute!!!!! I wanna hug her!!!!

I'm going to stop at a fabric store today and get the correct ribbon for Tiga's memory box so I can finish that this weekend, and I'm going to go get Dave his Valentine's Day card and some mandarin oranges to go with it, aaannnnddddd I don't know what else! LOL Maybe ride the 4-wheeler some this afternoon.

I'm going to go get in the shower and start my day. See y'all later!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok, I just may get some more kits to make stuffed toys...... this was waaaaaay fun lol

Shirley - sounds like you've got a lot of old-fashioned meal-making and fun with family today. sounds like Thanksgiving all over again LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, guess you have to know when to pick your fights..lol..hope the brakes are fixed and you are safe to go, got helmets?

Have fur and odd/ends for stuffed toys if anybody wants them..

Nice to be back home..sunny but cold right now..perfect winter day for a Snowfest. Did do the breakfast and the craft show, bought a few things I did not need but what to heck..did get a freeby though..Pat was selling some of those potatoe bags you put 4 or 5 potatoes in and microwave, she says they work great, was selling them for $10. and wouldn't take my money..said she wanted to treat me, not going to make a fortune doing that.

Brought mom's cross stitch top and lining to the quilting group, they won't get at it until fall but that's ok, out of my house, wouldn't want it to get mixed up with my purging.

After I got my hair cut and styled I did groceries and then went to visit with Melanie, Greg was out on the snowmachine, Kyle gone to work and Noah resting..already Mel was bored..lol..long way to go with 4 -6 weeks off..I'll have to get her interested in something..

Greg got back just as I was leaving, got the whatfor for not wearing snowboots and still in my sneakers...he is taking Noah to hockey and Mel was arguing that she's well enough to go see her father..don't think Greg will convince her not to go..she says even if it's for 10 or 15 minutes..shaking my head here....

Told them I'd best go, had a turkey to cook soooo guess who is coming for supper..told them if Mel is tired and sore from her outing to stop by and pick up a care package..lol

I tried to talk her out of going but I can see her point, her father is not well and she wants to see him.

OK, didn't want to drive all the way to Midland for turkey, finally the nice young man who owns the store Jeremy said he had a large frozen turkey in the back, he'd cut it in 1/2, debone it, and stuff it for me seeing I had a craving so it's now in the oven..

Just realized I bought regular yeast for the bread machine so going to have to go web surfing to find what the equivalent is of regular vs. breakmaker yeast..made a bet with myself, if I find a lb. of lard I'll make pies, if not, oh well have a few packaged sweet I can make, might even make an applesauce cake.

So you see, Dianne and Shirley, you have me cooking and baking..what a thing to do, shouldn't I be crafting.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just won an accuquilt baby go cutter from accuquilt on Facebook! I can't wait to get it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Want nothing LindaKay, trying to purge, know I'll not be finishing them..now the light colored is missing 1 foot but could have a somewhat match or 1/2 foot 1 color and back the other on both and they would match..I'll look to see if I can find same fur..

Dark brown once is all cut out ready to sew and thing if I look in a box I've a few large pieces..

Brought some flat rate boxes home with me on my last trip so will pack as much in it as I can.

I'll just be glad that someone will use it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to ask LindaKay, when will the send you the baby accu cutter???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Found more fur LindaKay, tried to put all in a flat box..no go..have to find a bigger box..lol

Was in a panic, couldn't find my ebook..went looking and it fell out of my bag onto the car floor..yikes, best I start looking after my things

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, they usually ship pretty fast. All the winners in the past, post about a week later, saying they got theirs.
Just go to Facebook, and search for accuquilt, the like them and you will get all their postings. Usually Friday morning they have a drawing for something.

I am a mom, in shock.

My son has been a giant pain in the behind this year in school! Has fought homework the entire way, been late, been mouth.....I called it Senioritis.

Then, today, was Academic Decathlon competition withour school and several others.

His teacher/coach and I have been having conversations about him, his attitude change....and she was ready to string him up because he got a 92----- out of 1,000 on his Math comp grade!!

Imagine my surprise when he was called up to get a medal, repeatedly, during the Awards ceremony. Three Gold, three silver and a bronze. BUT, at the end when they give awards for overall best between all the schools....he got a Silver 2nd place!! And the team will be going onto State Competition the weekend of March 11th.

Wow - congrats to your DS, Debbie!!!!!! What a handsome boy!

hahahaha Betty - you were missing a foot? me 2, from a monkey pattern I have! I went to get some fur today so I could match the foot, and had to get .3 of a meter. When I got home I realized I could cut another monkey out, with 4 feet (cuz of course I have to have 4 feet for 2 monkeys!) and I have JUST enough to do it! I'll have to figure out what to do with the extra, 5th, foot lol
It's about the same colour as your fun fur, too. The new stuff I mean. the original fur I have is finer than the new stuff I got, but if I use the new stuff for the old pattern's feet, it should be ok.

I made a banana for my gorilla and it's so cute LOL
I'm beginning to think stuffed toy-making is like quilting - you get enough fabric for one, then you have a little bit left, so you get some more......... etc, etc, etc...... see what I mean? It's like your fabric stash LOL

Lyndonville, NY

You just make one about 1/4 the size and have a baby monkey!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

this is a baby - she's so little! Here she is......
It's amazing how much fun fur it takes to make this little one - about 10" tall

Thumbnail by Tallulah_B
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

awwww..she is just adorable Susan!! ^_^

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

thanks, Thunder dear! I really enjoyed making her, and now I've got enough fabric to make 2 monkeys!! I had fabric for one, but one of the feet was missing, so I tried to get enough to make 2 new feet (so the fabric matches somewhat), and when I got the fabric, I have enough for the two feet, and a complete other monkey LOL
