Morning Debbie. Sorry Betty, I posted a picture on the other thread, and you made this one, while the picture was loading.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hello all - got sent home sick from work, so guess I'm gonna Vicks myself up, put on a t-shirt, turn on the mattress warmer and rest...
It's either a viral thing, or the beginning of bronchitis... I do anything and I'm wiped out!
Good thing my boss caught it early and sent me home. She's tired of it going around the office, too!!
Well, off to bed and some rest...

I posted this in the last room, but brought it over here, too.

Betty - that would be great to get some actors in, just remember that they're "Night Owls" usually ...... my, that brings back memories of when I was in an acting troupe.... "Fantasy Theatre For Children" - great fun, and wonderful cast parties LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Dear Lordy, Betty would be up all night sewing costumes or something! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Goodness Debbie, how will you fill in your day..you'll be lonesome..lol doubtful right!!! How's the leg..

Rory is adorable LindaKay..imagine, catching a fish almost as large as large as he..how old is he?

Susan, glad your boss had sense to send you home..am sure you'd have worked all day feeling ill..off to bed with the jar of vic's

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Debbie, didn't think of the plus of having actors in my home..yes, likely I would..lol not going there though, think I did learn a good lesson.. how's the soccer player...walking o.k.

Lyndonville, NY

As of right now the soccer player is in school...and walked to school this morning.

I was going upstairs at Jeannas yesterday and did something in my foot, so it is a bit sore. Other than that...following routine and healing.

Yes, I think you did learn from that situation.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Never fails Debbie when we have a sprain/break we always seem to hit it, maybe because we're overly cautious..when is your next appt. with doctor? Let's hope the walk to school doesn't create a problem for him.

And yes, did learn, I'll stick with overnight guests..lol

Went to the quilt shop, nothing like wanting to make a quilt and can't find suitable materials..did find a blue sky with stars, much lighter than I wanted but better than nothing and I do want to continue...this morning quilt sisters (Toronto) sent me an e-mail, going on their site and maybe if they have some of what I want I'll order on-line..few have woodsy type materials though..have to go to the site of the lady that wrote the book and see if I can find out where she got hers and order

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wooo I've been busy today and my internet is down at the house until I can get a service person to come out and take a look at it :( :( :( :( We're supposed to get a whopper of a snowstorm on Wednesday too.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes Betty - I would have worked all day..... but I'm still accessing my work email from home, and resting between-times......

Victoria Harbour, ON

When you are home ill Susan you are suppose to stay quiet and in bed...back to bed you go.

Crissy, let's hope the storm passes you on..started to snow here again but don't think it will amount to much, at least I hope not.

If any of you who sew get a chance could you link me to the fabric store you use on-line??

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

"back to bed"??? I haven't been yet..........
Quiet, I'm staying - no one to talk to - and with a blankie wrapped around me and lots of hot liquids, plus meds......
Feeling headachy, so guess I'd better catch some zzzzzzzzzz's

Victoria Harbour, ON

Having all of us in the same room you are in Susan is enough to keep you gabbing..lol

brrr snowing and blowing out there..Bernie and his family are off to Florida ..car races..told me there was room, should have packed my bags and gone with them this morning..

To Pet Owners...or Not.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE PETS, THIS IS A TRUE STORY. FOR THOSE THAT DON'T, IT IS STILL A TRUE STORY.

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door.

Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food.. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't smoke or drink,
(7) don't want to wear your clothes,
(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children .....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! Betty that is so funny! Thanks for the smiles!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That was great - Norm and I really enjoyed it!!!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Hi!
We are home from our days outing. Tubby's legs are so cracked and weepy, I know they hurt alot. I told the nurse she could let the Dr. know I stopped the drug and there's no way he is going back on it. I can't get TED hose on till they go down some. They are just to painful for him. I know the hose would help, but I don't have anything to give him for the pain in order to do it. We will just keep them up in the air. I have a pillow under them to help keep some pressure off.

It is still cold out, but other wise a good day. I don't know what tomorrow will bring yet. I'll check that later. I forgot to pick up a few things since I left the stupid list at home, good thing the heads attached. I don't think it works at all some days.

I've been cleaning out all my old magazines. I took a bunch to the recycle center and will take the last load Wed.. I have a bit of mending left to do. I still have the last load of laundry to fold and then I can carry it down and put away. I plan on doing some baking later this week before all the company comes. It'll be fun to see all and I know we'll have a great time, but will be ready for a nap when they all go.

Betty, the pet story was just too cute, I read it to Tubby and we both had a good laugh. I will read it to the family when they come as they all have pets and bring them to the farm.

Okay, enough for now. I'm will check back later.
Shirley

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Shirley - poor Tubby to have to put up with the pain/cracked and weeping legs!!
I'm with you on "the head's not working" thing...... for today for SURE!

I just got up from a nap, and could use another one - some things are not working for me re: working computer, and it's driving me nutzoid! I wish I had a work computer, but I don't, so some of my work is not "working" for me on my personal computer arrrrrrrrrgh

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll second the 'poor tubby' terrible to be in so much pain and unable to ease it without meds that create more problems..I so hope you can talk grandaughter into staying with you for a bit longer....she must see she's needed. Lordy you'll have a house full, will they be spending just the day or will they stay over for the weekend..no cooking, tell them all it's pot luck.

Susan..you are suppose to be in bed resting!

Always tired Monday nights so think I'll take my e-book reader and head to bed, I accomplish much more when I get up earlier than what I do trying to stay up later...might be something good on the computer...

Gab in the a.m.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I went to bed and slept for 4 hours! I'm up again, but feeling worse actually - my face is all "heat prickly" like you get when you're sick........

Lexington Park, MD

Good morning to all.
Oh Tubby nothing worse than to be in pain and no meds to give. Shirley do not over work getting ready for company.Rest and take care.
Anyone interested Pot holder swap in the sewing forum.
Coffee is on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, wow, thought it was spring yesterday but the deep freeze is on..even my verandah screen door had the handle freeze..just sprayed with wd40 so let's hope that works.

Susan hope you are not thinking of heading into work..you wouldn't want to pass this on to someone when all it takes ifs for you to stay home a day or two...back to bed you go!

Laura, will go look for the swap..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank heaven we got that roof cleared when we did. There are collapses all around this area. And overnight we got another 4" of snow and this time it was the heavy wet kind. Perfect snowball snow!!!!
It's pretty - so pretty - but we have had enough!!!!!
Thanks for the coffee Laura. I'm surely in for the pot holders. I like having something to do that I have only played with before. Looking forward to it.
My toast just popped - be back later.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow Barb, are you getting more snow than you usually do? Bet that young lad kept busy shovelling roof's...hard to know what to do when roofers tell you not to..

Just joined the 'pot holder' swap as well, sent out 2 swaps, think I'm in now for 3 more..am I ahead of the game or behind the game do you think..if I'm ever asked if I'm addicted to something I'll be sure to say 'yes, swaps'...

Suzanne, SIL/lunch partner is in the city again today so think what I might do is take another walk in Garden Gallery..always gives one the sense of spring..beside, yesterday I joined the spring gardening swap so there might be a trinket or 2 I can pick up.

Time to put out the garbage, start my car, grab a coffee and head out..

Morning everyone. Gladly partake of some coffee and there is some freshly made homemade bread to share.
Bitterly cold here too Betty. Snowed off and on all day yesterday and last night.Yesterday was sunny in the am but overcast by noon. Today it is already overcast.
Can't sleep..... waiting for a call from the Neurosurgeon with a cancellation - sooner rather than later I hope.
Stormy wants out now! Gotta go....
Dianne

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending warm thoughts to you today Dianne. We are to get the bitterly cold in tonight. You know I won't be out of the house this week!!! We are starting to get a few more flurries too. Guess it will happen all day.
Today I search the quilt books for a simple pattern for my friend. She had picked out several blues from my stash and although she said she would like the log cabin pattern I didn't get an "Oh I love that one" at all from her. So I'm going looking. That will take a while as I have books and magazines all over the place. Maybe a good time to thin out as I go. I need to focus on the pattern-not the colors...
Off to start the laundry.....

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning to All!

It's -7* here this morning. It's suppose to stay cold all day, but warm up the weekend. That will make it a sloppy mess here on the farm. The dogs will be tracking in and out. More laundry to do that way.
Tubby is back in bed, was up for a while, but was not feeling good and so put him back to bed. I hope he stays there for a while. I need to go get dressed and go outside and cut the 2x4's for the bottom of the recliner. It's so low it's hard to get him up out of it.

i really don't know anything and just wanted to say hello. I'll be back later and see what's going on. Hope everyone has a great day and be careful out there for those of you who have to go out.
Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, simply CANNOT purge quilt books...lordy girl, the minute you do you'll be looking for it. You have no idea how welcome the box of remnants you sent me is coming in handy..you included material for back of loon, found that this morning and left a piece for Pat, she just called saying 'thank you/thank you' so told her I'd say thank you to you as it's difficult to find here and it's perfect..

Guess we're all in the northern part of the country getting much the same weather..snow/bitter cold another day/blizzard the next..time to take advantage of it and get all the inside work done so once spring comes we can forget the dust bunnies under the bed and play outside.

On my way in this morning I did think winter has been going by quickly though and not as bad as other years..guess it's because the majority of the snow comes within a day or so and then clear..only 1 snow day so far but then the winter isn't over is it..

Was just telling Pat that I might take a ride to Meaford this Saturday, not only is the big warehouse there but also a few quilt shops along the way..would love to pick up pieces for the Northland Quilt and my '12 rows of Christmas'..weather permitting of course..might even call my sister and have her meet my in Collingwood and we can do lunch, I've still got her Christmas presents and as I type this I almost think this is the weekend she'll be at the Warminster Dog show in N.Y. City so I'll have to check and see if that is so. There's always Cathy looking for something to do.lol

Dianne, praying that there is a cancellation so you can get in ASAP..stay in/stay warm and try and get some rest during the day so you'll not exhaust yourself.

Love the photo's Barb, will try and take a few tonight as well

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, what a handyman (handywomen) you are..the think of raising the recliner with 2x4's..will work, just watch that they aren't tippy thought..hugs for Tubby, sure do miss him and am so thankful you are with us giving us updates..when you don't post worried about you as well..are you all through with the cold/flu you had last week???

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG Betty Bernie's going to the Daytona 500!!!! I am soooooooooooo jealous!!!!!! ACK!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL
Betty that is great!

Shirley I am so sorry he's going through all of this pain. I keep praying for y'all! Betty's right, you sure are a handy woman!

Susan I am so sorry you're all sicky poo!!

I have nothing, the internet came back on last night so Dave hogged it! I don't know what to do with it, it works, it doesn't, it does, it doesn't. Dave wants me to cancel the order for the new and slightly faster goods for it but I don't want to! He got his 4-wheeler, why can't I have my internet?? In fact, he wants me to downgrade back to dial up to save money while he goes and spends whatever for whatever he wants! I just don't think so!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I found this pattern. Can't you see this in blues and white-on-white with navy sashing? And oh so simple. Not as busy as a log cabin.....
Edited to add that I can't spell!!!!

Barb, that would look so good in blues and white! Do you know the name of the block?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy & Betty - yeah...... sicky-poo and not going into work today again. Betty - day or two? I think maybe more. They don't want me in spreading the germs, and I can't talk much before my throat feels like crushed glass (large pieces!!). I've been gargling with peroxide and that helps though. Drinking hot liquids helps too.

Shirley - good for you to get the recliner raised for dear Tubby! You're a wonderful wife and mate to him - he's blessed as are you to share each others life. You're always in my prayers, dear ones.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

These are the fabrics I have....

LK the pattern is from "the Quilter Magazine" - October/November 2010 issue and is in browns in the magazine. I just loved the pattern. You may be able to see it on their website

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh lovely, Barb - my fav is the white with blue roses...... ^_^

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Didn't mean to pass you by Susan. Hope you feel better very quickly. Bed is the thing though as rest is best....
And bless you Shirley. You are one talented lady....
