Coffee Break #53 Endless Winter
Never got to art class yesterday, or to subbing today...a stomach bug has kept me in bed.....I finally got up around 8 this morning & ate some applesauce....will see if it stays with me!
Feel better!
Thanks....fever is down, so maybe things are looking up!
Something has hit me also. Not a stomachy thing though. DH, says that since I have not been 'out' around people much for the last 3 years, that maybe my immune system is more susceptible. But, ohhh, I am loving being out and about.
Someone read my mom's obit and wants to do an article at an online site about her and her life in Holmdel.
feel better RD & Jan.... must be that kind of week... I am under the weather as well... that is so nice Jan.. can't wait to read it
ROBINDOG---
The 1960's "cure" for a stomach bug was ginger ale and saltines.
But it might be like the old joke:
"You'll have a cold for a whole week, but with vitamin C, you'll only have it for 7 days."
(btw, even though I jest I do take vitamin C and many other supplements.)
Feel better, everyone!
6A - we also take lots of Vitamin C and many other supplements. The doctor used to shake his head but now he agrees.
In 1982, a friend was chatting with her physician and asked about cranberry juice for a urinary tract infection; he dismissed it as a silly "old wives' tale."
Now it's being served in hospitals as part of a health regimen for UTI patients.
It's almost as if the traditional Western medical community is playing catch-up to the rest of the world.
(My apologies if this comment is too political; I carry around my own "soap-box.")
One friend has been on cranberry juice since the mid-60's due to a kidney condition. I'm glad her doctor was up on the news.
I totally agree that here they're trying to play catch-up.
Seeing that nice blue sky and feeling the warmer temps makes me believe we view blue as a soothing color mainly because of the sky.
The thing about cranberry juice is that you have to get the kind without added sugar- the sugar feeds the bacteria you're trying to get rid of.
Feel better Jan, Marilyn and Allison!
good info Harper... I had no idea the sugar kind was not good... and thanks for the well wishes
My friend always got hers (probably still does) from the health food stores and it's unsweetened.
anyone going to the Edison flower show?... not me this year... too worried about Jily and don't know what time I will have to pick her up on sat
When is it?
Washing machine broke...not good in a household with kids
Hope hubby can fix it soon
I hope it can be fixed. Not good with kids around.
starts today I think Jen... hope you get the washer fixed... not a good thing
Sorry, Jen!
When you have a cold think ZINC. It's not a preventitive supplement but you feel better and the cold doesn't last as long. New research from Britian.
Not really new. Been around for years. I bought zinc lozenges 25 years ago!
More research on it now. I had never heard of it in relationship to colds.
Read it years ago, Frank. That's exactly how it wad marketed too.
Yep, glad the zinc cold treatments have come down in price.
When it first came to QVC many years ago (during its initial wave of popularity), it was pricey.
Never worked for me. Neither did echinacea.
Guess I'll have to try it sometime to see if it works for me. Recently had a bad bought with some kind of bug. Lasted two weeks!!!! I was afraid it was going to turn in to pneumonia. Got a shot of anti-biotics and the usual cough syrup and waited it out.
Can't believe how long these bugs are lasting!
I had some sort of bug and the cough lasted almost 3 weeks. Glad it's gone now.
Same here.
Washer is broke, too much $ to fix so we'll be washer shopping tomorrow
Unplanned expenses = bummer
that is a bummer
It is a bummer but better now than the day before you leave for vacation.
My dryer is acting up....keeping my fingers crossed.....
Marilyn - are you starting to feel better yet? You've been hit pretty hard! Hope everyone is getting beyond the yukky stuff!
Jen - look on the bright side.....A NEW DRYER!!! Yay! lol
