I'm not a paid member, so I cannot vote, but to have access to that type of forum - I'd pay.
Anyone Interested in a new forum: Square Foot Gardening?
This thread has been closed. The new forum exists.
Go pay up and come join us over there! The discussions are getting VERY lively!
Hugs!
They named it High Yield Gardening and you don't need to be a paying subscriber to participate. I hope that doesn't change because I said that. :o)
Shune! Thanks for that catch! I forgot, I voted for it to be an OPEN forum!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Likewise, yaaaaaay! Thank you.
But paying will get you into a lot of other forums and features. It's worth the price, and you help financially support the site (and can turn off advertising as our way of saying thanks.) So there are still a lot of perks to being a subscriber.
I do hope to become a member soon. I want to know what's going on in the Pacific Northwest.
Shune, et al,
Terry's absolutely right about all the perks you get from being a fully paid member of Dave's Garden!
Everything I know, I learned from someone else here on the website. The commaraderie, willingness to share, and the care and concern for one another makes this a community worth belonging to. There are very many days when I look at my success and I can't help but feel like I actually OWE more money for my membership.
For what we get, $20 for an annual membership here is a steal! (Don't get any ideas, Terry....). But, for some, $20 is still a very prohibitive cost. The irony is that being a member could help teach people how to provide a bounty for themselves (and, possibly others, so that there might be a little "extra" for a full paid membership!
So, I'll put out this challenge to all the DGers who are in some good $$ space -- each one -- reach one, so each one can teach one!
If your $20 membership doesn't make you blink, please consider sponsoring a paid membership for just one other person who would like to, but truly can't, fit that membership into their annual budget.
Give the gift of Dave's Gardening!
And, I've already started that ball rolling for this year....so, let the challenge begin!
P.S. This post was in NO WAY INFLUENCED by the administrators of Dave's Garden. This is wholely and solely my own idea, borne out of my own heart...psst...memberships make great Christmas gifts!
Linda
I broke down and paid today - but I have to go to bed now, so I'll get on later tomorrow.
I put a post in the hummingbirds section, btw, if anyone wants to check it out. :)
oh, and tomorrow I'll be putting up a lot of photos and posts about some possible pests - hope I don't annoy everyone.
Have a nice evening.
- Dawn.
Yes, please! This is my first attempt at a "real" garden (we came from So Calif) and I decided to do a SFG because our Tn home has heavy clay soil and I'm not into digging.
2011 will be my third year of raised bed gardening and I will say this, I will never go back to regular in the ground gardening. Mine are 99% vegetables, 1% flowers. I also do herbs. Let me state that I am a learn as I go type. I simply plant and see what works. Last summer in a 4 by 6 section I grew so many green beans that we ate them each week and I canned 21 quarts. Not bad for a small plot I thought. My tomatoes did not fare well, I had blossom end rot. I am struggling to be organic and could use any helpful suggestions about fungal or pest control. To date I have three 4x8 beds and three 4 x 4 beds.
I think it's a good idea. Opens the door for potagers and step gardening!
I would be in for it, since that is how I am currently growing my veggies.
Uh, NOLA77,
How about some pictures?
Uh, ya'll realize this thread was closed a LOOOOOOOONG time ago? No matter.
Somebody start a "Step Gardens" and a "Potager" thread over on the High Yield Gardening Forum, please!
