Am feeling rather numb today. Mom took a turn for the worse yesterday and died in her sleep. She has no more pain and is in glory. We are blessed to have had her for 91 years. Every year since her open heart surgery in 1970 has been icing on the cake. Not sure what I should be doing next, but I knew I had to share with my DG friends. Thanks

Oh Jan, im so sorry for your loss! She was well cared for and loved , her time spent here after 1970 was testimony to that. Hugs to you my friend and prayers being sent your way.

Thanks everybody for your warm thoughts and hugs. You are why I love DG.

BTW, about 11pm on Wed. mom started talking about the amount of peas we needed for dinner. Maybe she was already thinking about her first dinner with Dad. They grew the best peas. Wish I had paid more attention to their gardening wisdom. Learning the hard way is tough.

Treasure every memory you have of your mom and dad. I'm sure you do.

Oh, Jan, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I can only echo the comforting thoughts already shared here, but also I am keeping you and your family close in thoughts and prayers. The blessing was two way - for both your Mom and for you. What a lovely blessing.

Thank you. Today has been a good day actually. I am working thfough mom's phone book to contact her friends. It has been very touching. I even found a program from her high school graduation in 1937 from Annapolis MD.

Wow.

Amazing what treasures you find when you are going through that process. I found my Mom's high school yearbook where she was voted "Best All 'Round" superlative with a gorgeous photo of her, and also her Florida State college yearbook. Those were quite a surprise to look through and get a peak at her early life.

How lovely to come across that, Jan, and to have the gift of hearing the thoughts of her friends.

Sorry for your loss Jan, it's always hard, will be thinking of you and your family.

I am going to an orientation meeting for new members at Winterthur. I joined for the year, cuz they have an awesome children's garden. I plan to get as many of them there as I can in a year's time.

My deepest sympathies, Jan. Mom and Dad are together again, though. That's comforting. I bet he missed her. God bless your family. Obviously you are a wonderful daughter to her.
