Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n

Victoria Harbour, ON

not working well so will have to post to all from home tonight...hugs Crissy

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Poo Betty, wonder what happened?

Victoria Harbour, ON

dropping in for a few second before I have to become a hockey grannie and take Noah for his game..

Crissy, very well could be body chemicals in tears..you are being very brave girl, know how terribly upset you must be..Tiga might have known it was time and didn't fight and died peacefully..what a difficult decision you would have had to make to euthanize Tiga shortly..

Barb that new system you are using sounds fantastic..now where would one purchase such a program? was it the program they were advertizing on tv awhile ago?

Thunder love the quilts...when you say your son is he the one I met when I was at your house? what an heirloom it will be for him.

Shirley/Debbie/Bev, not seeing any of you post, sure hope all is well
Perhaps Shirley by this time of night your grandaughter will be with you and keeping an eye on you both..can see Tubby smilling from here.

Think on the post I lost I mentioned that yesterday I came home, 2 containers filled with muffins, banana and pumpkin and 7 trays of various meals and a set of knives, guess you know who was visiting..Danie was here with the girls doing jewelery and thought she'd spoil me..never listens that girl!

Will have to telephone Cathy tonight, she was ill for a few days but I imagine she's out ice fishing..

well, best I get dressed warmly and head to the arena
gab later

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

thanks every one. Betty the son you met was my baby...# 3 boy. It is #2 going into Navy, that I am making that quilt for...

actually started new ones for all of them.....
fronts done on all...
now this reverse side almost done....
the one for the "baby boy" needs a border and binding, I did it in a QAYG method.
the one for #1 son has the front done...well I will have to add borders if it is going to fit his bed, originally I thought I would just make it as a lap quilt...now not sure.....I have absolutely no idea on how I am going to back it yet....that is why it is not done.....oh yeah, and then there is that "time" thing........

this is Kyle, going into Navy in May...

Thunder - Kyle looks about the same age as my DS ! ((HUGS)) Wish I could get mine in the service... Think it would do him a world of good...as my Dad would say.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((hugs)))))))))) to everyone, cuz I love you all!!
Heading off to sleep now - I'm tired and have a big day tomorrow!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kyle is indeed very young looking, bet you are in turmoil over his joining! still don't know how all you moms handle it. Am sure when things settle down for you Thunder you'll just look at that quilt and the method of choice will come to you..do you mostly hand quilt?

Can feel that the temperature has dropped overnight but not as cold as it was last week, we might have gotten an inch or so of snow but it's not enough that warrants my going out and shovel.

Debbie, starting to worry about you girl..please drop in with an update..thought just came to me, you might be bedridden and unable to get to the computer..drats that would not be good...

Seems we've all been on a downer this month with our health issues, few more days and February will be upon us and some of you will be seeing sunshine and thinking gardens...just your talking about it will surely put the rest of us on a high...

Crissy did you resolve the foggy contacts and how are you doing today?

Guess I'd best get a move on, things to do before I leave...not sure I'll have internet at the office but sure shope I do..lonely and miss you all!!!

Lexington Park, MD

Thunder your son is very handsome. Does he have a speciality (school) when he is done with bootcamp?
My DD has a very good friend that went in to the Navy and it has made the world of difference for her.
We got some snow maybe 4 inches just enough to close school.
Good news our camper has been ordered. It will be here in 8 weeks. So happy.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Handsome boy Thunder - must run in the family!!!
Only about four inches of snow here this time too Laura. I'm grateful that it is dry and fluffy and can be swept to the side. Only problem is that "the side" keeps getting smaller and smaller!!!!
Betty, sure hope your computer is fixed. Know how you miss it. How did Noah do last night?
Mary, I envy you a bit of warm weather. It's in the low twenties here now and it feels like a heat wave after the below zero temps last week. I'm staying inside!!!
Cleaning the bedroom and bath today so I best get with the program.
~~~~~ Waving Hello to everyone.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone! Hope your all feeling much better today!
Sure hope those missing will pop in to say hello?
Lexington Park, MD
Coffee is on and will be making applesauce muffins.
Lyndonville, NY
Betty, overall I am fine. We are all healthy...and I seriously have been behaving with my foot.
Just some issues have really hit the fan.....and we are trying to sort out a plan of action.
On a "good note" of sorts, Mike is "supposedly" moving back home this weekend. I say supposedly as he and his mom have been fighting already. That woman needs locked up.
I am reading and watching the thread....sending lots of hugs and prayers to all who need it.
Debbie
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
Thanks, He will be going into the Nuclear program, eventually ending up on a big nuclear powered ship...most likely aircraft carrier.... 24 years young....and so smart it is scary !!
He has been thinking "Navy" on and off since high school. finally decided it is the thing to do....I am proud, and I think it is a very good move for him.....
Now the "baby" is thinking Army!! and I got to say " I am not to sure about that!!" don't know if it will be a good thing for him or not...He has spoken to recruiters, and first off he has to lose at least 25 - 30 pounds....so he has started an exercise program, and is being more conscious of what he eats....no more soda, etc.... only time will tell..
he has been out of work for over 3 years now, except for a few very short term "seasonal" jobs.....so his self esteem is not the greatest at this point in time....we keep telling him " it is not just you, it is the economy" but he feels very bad.......
if he had a halfway decent job, and could contribute to the house hold, I could cut back on my hours at work...which would be very nice...but on the other hand I like that he is home to keep an eye on his father.....keeps him from doing things he should not!! and I would rather keep on working the 40 hours, than to have him off in the Army....as I am sure he would end up being deployed....Don't know if I could "take" having all three of them off "in harms way".....
thank goodness Kyle will be in school for at least a year, actually about 1 1/2....
well I am going to go do a little sewing before I have to get ready for work. 2-11 toady and tomorrow.
Y'all have a great day. stay safe and warm.
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Well the contacts went bye bye while I was driving home last night lol I could see better without them! I figure I'll just wear my glasses until I stop these crying fits, you all know how it is I'm sure, good moments, bad moments, good moments, bad moments. I sent all of Tiga's pictures to my email so I can figure out how to edit them and print them, I've got hundreds of pics of her and eventually want to do make a photo album of just her. I also want to find a really good one and make it a wall picture. She was an absolutely wonderful cat. My morning routine is completely messed up without her greeting me with a loud meow and feeding her while my coffee water is warming up. I think the mornings are the hardest time of day, even though evenings aren't very easy either. I just wonder how Dave's doing it staying home all day, I wouldn't be able to do that.
It's supposed to be 70* on Saturday!!!! Woo HOOOOO!!! I'm going to go to Michael's today and find a headstone or something I can make and fix her grave to the way I want it and plant some plants around it, maybe that will give me some closure.
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
awww big hugs crissy...I know exactly what you mean with the good, and bad moments.
Victoria Harbour, ON
back on the system but not sure for how long..drats, one more day and then I can get my work life back..
Typing and it takes about 5 minutes before what I type comes over the screen...not good..
Crissy I'll have to go through my stained glass pieces and see if there is a pattern of a kitty so I can make one for your memorial garden..made
Victoria Harbour, ON
made a dog one for Dawn's memorial garden and think it's stood up to the elements.
Thunder that's quite a family you have, you most certainly can be proud of them! Think I'd rather work the extra hours as well and have him home looking after his dad, difficult though I'm sure for him to think you must work and he's not contributing..let's hope the economy picks up...
now tell me, is Walma
Victoria Harbour, ON
drats...is Walmart tending to hire middle age staff vs. the younger generation..know ours has been having difficulties with staff being dependable so are hiring middle age...I wouldn't mind getting a job if I could
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Betty, our wal mart has lots of middle age people.
Hope you get youe computer fixed soon!
Baton Rouge, LA
Hello To All;
Betty - this doesn't answer your question... but in the 11 page packet that our manager gave us to read... (Of course NOW I've read it) it said that by 2020, 80% of the workforce will be over 50 years old !
I didn't see how but certainly thought that statistic interesting. I suppose it's the "Baby Boomers" of which I am on the young end of... 1940-1965....
I wish it were that way now as I am the oldest lady on my sale staff... and everyone talking about pregnancy and toddlers... I certainly can't remember enough to chime in and all my good memories are out of date... LOL.....
Crissy - one of DH's Christmas pressies.... well let me find the link...... Got it from Hobby Lobby and I suppose it would make a nice marker for Tiga...
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/make-your-own-stepping-stone-kit-764092/
But ya'll are so crafty you probably don't need a kit. yes - that's how it is... Good moment ....bad moment....repeat... I'm so sorry Crissy !
Thunder - if your DS can enlist at 24, maybe mine will. Mine has a LOT of growing up to do.... Turns 19 in March....
Anyway - you are giving me HOPE... so ((HUGS))
Waving Susan, Laura, LK..... Barb... like LK ... we are suppose to have 70 and sunny this Saturday.... I'll send some sunshine your way if only in thoughts... :)
Really though was cold today and light freeze last night ... I did not cover hibbies up.... hope after all that work Nov/Dec... I don't regret it ...but I didn't get home till 10pm
Hugs,
Mary
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Betty I'll pay you for the postage! Drats that computer! Almost sounds like a keyboard issue.
Today was the second full day without her and it was the hardest day I've had so far, I didn't even get out of my office to talk to anyone. This does get better, right?
You all look at what I'm going to make...with some slight personalization details, like Tiga never went to gold, but she always took to anything that was red. Not sure what color I'm going to paint the box, maybe a beige or sand color, that would look good with a red fabric...
http://www.michaels.com/Pet-Memory-Box/e05524,default,pd.html?cgid=projects&start=1
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Thunder what a great family you have, you are very lucky! I bet he does feel bad about not working.
We have a lot of all ages working at our WalMarts. If not they'd probably get sued for age discrimination.
Mary that is cute!!
Well I'm turning in, I'm pooped. See y'all in the morning!
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
Mary, I have three boys. # 1 son was in the Army before his 18th birthday...
the other two !!! 19 years old...lets just say...I am glad that time is over!!!!
they do eventually grow......# three still has some more of that to do...but he is very good at helping out around the house, he does most of the dishes, does yard work, fixes whatever needs it...with his dad there telling him how....does some of the cooking.....of course he has to be told to do it most of the time...but he does it without too much complaints...
I am very lucky, they are all very good to us....
we have lots of over 50 at our two local wal-marts, but they are both on the outskirts of one of the largest retirement community's in the world. The Villages. the next one further down the road has more younger people working there.... Yup I can be at any of three different wal-marts within 20 mins..and even a fourth in about 35 mins....
hugs crissy...
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
(((((((Crissy))))))) you'll get more good days, in time, but for now the bad days are awful, aren't they?!?!?!
a camper coming in 8 weeks? KEWL!!! Now you can come to visit me! ^_^
We have a lot of ages working at our WalMart, too.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all, wanted to get on last night but with hockey taking early part of the evening and then Cathy dropping in to visit just didn't find the time, was nodding in a bit of Cathy's conversation, not nice but I think she's used to that! She's been ice fishing and today she's trying to get a doctor's appt. her's is away for 2 weeks and her blood results came back with hight ratings..she's prone to bloodclots so she best beware!
Noah did not win his hockey game, close 2-1..1st half of the game another goalie played and the other team scorred 2 goals, the last half Noah had a shut out so he wasn't AS disappointed as he would have been w ith losing had he let the 2 goals in..lordy I'd hate to be a goalie!!!
Crissy the memory box is lovely, you'll feel better after making it because there is some of you with Tiga. Love the stepping stone idea as well to set in the memory garden...no postage needed..I'll go through my patterns this weekend...doing so might get me into wanting to make some stained glass lamps for Christmas..it's getting back at it that is the problem...you'll have to post a good photo for me so I can try and get some similar color toned glass.
Laura, jumping up and down that you got the camper, bet not as high as you are jumping though....know you are planning all kinds of vacations..please/please put my neck of the woods on your list..there are so many interesting things I could take you to, kids would love it..no more than a day's drive...put 1/2 day in and spend it in Niagara Falls and then up early and my place for lunch...
Thunder that is a lot of walmarts in one region but we have one in Midland, 1 in Orillia and 2 in Barrie, all within a 40 minute drive!
Looking at the clock time to get Noah up and me off to work..drats no computer, might be last day without though as Jeff says he'll drop into the office and repair it over the weekend, sure do hope so!
All others I've not responded to, my apologies..will catch up tonight and on the weekend
Waving to all
enjoy your day
Mary, much the same at my work, I'm the eldest and most times I feel ancient when the are all gabbing...was funny yesterday, first a potential client as if I booked an appt . for her could I book it with someone as wonderful..felt good...then a call came in and I was to transfer her to an agent once we finished gabbing, just as I was going to transfer the call I heard her telling someone 'she's just the sweetest grandma, love calling there' lol old I am...and in the morning I stopped for gas, woman about 40 always waits on me and calls me 'lovely lady' and she called out to the coffee bar, 'thhis lovely lady is the lady I'd love to have for a mother in law...' so that was my best...
Worse..Cathy had picked up my mail..there was a letter from the dealership, actually a friend of my son Greg, it was a reminder that the lease on my vehicle would run out in six months and they were hoping they could service me with another vehicle? omg a lease, thought I had purchased my car and here I put on a zillion miles...knowing Larry's telephone number I called him, as it was it was customer appreciation day and he was at work..after my tellling him about the letter he said he'd check his file..said often when people are traumatized by a life changing situation they don't realize what they might have signed..did say he didn't think I had leased a vehicle...now I can breathe...bought the car, wrong letter inserted..lol
however, have you ever had the feeling of doom and gloom in your tummy, almost like you know something terrible is coming and you feel as though the world is caving in???? had that feeling yesterday and again today..
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Pick up your head, straighten your shoulders, put on a big smile and shout and then go face your day.... You'll feel a lot better and who knows? It may work!!!
Ames, NE(Zone 5b)
Good Morning!
Just a little note to say we are doing alright. I am not back to 100%, but will get there eventually. I still have a sore throat and cough. I found some antibiotics Tubby had and is not taking so I'm taking them. This will be my 3rd day. I had a high fever Wed. evening. Was glad when kids finally went home, I was miserable. I keep my whiskey bottle handy to help cut the soreness and phlym is my throat.
GD is here. It's wonderful. She'll be a lot of help and we are having some good talks.
I did get the washers fixed on vehicle. It wasn't as bad as what they estimated so was glad about that. I'll have to pick up some more washer fluid.
Okay, I'm gonna go back and lie down for awhile. Hopefully, I'll get more energy every day. I will check in later to day and try and catch up on everything.
Have a good day to all!
Shirley
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone!
Betty, i'm sure it is just a mistake! They make them all the time! Sure hope they fix your computer.
Shirley, glad to hear your on the road to recovery! Please take it easy, and get plenty of rest!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Suzane is in Toronto so on her computer for a few secs.. oh happy days!
Shirley glad that you are on the mend, enjoy that grandaughter of yours!!!
LindaKay, was an error thank goodness..wow sure put the fear of the Lord in me..imagine paying for all those extra miles I put on..lol..teach me for being a roadrunner.
Mild here today..with time on my hands I'm making a list and checking it twice of things I must do on my way home..even thought of taking Noah to the movies tonight but with no hockey tomorrow think we'll make it a late afternoon movie at the theatre should he want to go.
Debbie, sending good vibes your way..
Be back in a bit...
Lexington Park, MD
Shirley so glad GD is there with you both. Hope you fell better soon.
Betty no trips planned yet.
Snowing and cold. YUK
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Betty I'm not going to start the stepping stone project for awhile, go ahead and do yours and I'll match it if I decide to do it. I don't want to turn a grave into a shrine. This might help you though....Tiga's favorite color was red, she went to anything red. I want to keep it simple but it would be so cool to have a Betty project there!
I feel better today, had a good cry this morning, the mornings are definitely harder than any of the rest of the day, that's when she showed up when my alarm went off telling me it was time to get up by purring and tapping my shoulder and pressing her lips against my cheek. That's when she sat on the mat at the shower waiting for me to get out. That's when she ran to her food dish cooing all the way because she knew it was time for breakfast. After I left and in the evenings she spent most of the rest of the day and most of the night with Dave. Dave got up this morning and I was just a mess but I can see the pain in him too, he said, "I guess I'll go pick up some compost today since it's still out of season and cheap." I just keep saying over and over, "I can't believe she died. Why???" Of course I know why, one can't live forever I suppose.
I feel like I'm acting like no one else has ever lost a beloved animal before. I'm sorry I keep going on y'all!
Shirley I'm so glad your GD is there! Glad you're feeling better too, my mom sips whiskey when she gets a sore throat too, I sip Hot Toddy's, I can't stand the taste of straight whiskey.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Crissy, we've all lost loved ones and furries, don't you be saying you should be brave..mourning takes time and when you least expect it tears will be shed...shed them and don't feel you have to apologize, time does have a way of healing..
Yikes, Shirley, grandma always gave us a hot toddy, whiskey, sugar and hot water..talk about sweat..
Laura, once the unit is in your yard I'm sure you'll pull out that calendar and look for where you can travel each and every long weekend coming..
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Laura I am so excited for you getting your camper!! I know your excited!!
This morning was the 3rd morning since her death. Here I'm wanting this to pass and it's only been 3 1/2 days!
Crissy....the one on the bathroom counter, I have two captions
"Yes, I see the great lioness in me" and "I don't need any of this...I am already beautiful!"
It takes a long time....we are all here for you.
Lexington Park, MD
What a beautiful kitty.
When my last dog past after the shock my Dad suggested we put her near this tree and planted tulips. So as the years pass .... every spring the tupils bloom we look at the flowers and smile remembering the goodtimes we had with Jasmine.
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Crissy - your Tiga was a Maine Coon correct? This was my Tigger!!!!
Thumbnail by Quilter5bdsr
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
YES Barb!! She was Maine Coon!!! Tigger was beautiful!!!!! That's how I named her, I was going to name her Tigger but I didn't want to give a female cat a male cat name, so I thought for a good 3 weeks and came up with Tiga, the I sounding like igloo, then I said it with the long e, and there came her name Tiga! (Teega) If I ever get another cat I'm going to have to come up with something original like that again, that name matched her to a T.
