Thought as I'm trying to figure out how to entertain myself this afternoon that I'd move us into a new room..Painted yellow (we're missing sunshine) with tad of red vases, flowers, muskoka chair in the corner..comfy cushion with geranium fabric...even lit the candle for you all..ooops better put it out and use a flameless candle, don't want those furries burning their tails now do we...
Come sit, think I put your favorite book on the coffee table..yes that's it, right next to the coffe...is that birds you hear chirping, yes, just changed batteries in the pretend birdies..hey why not make it as though you were sitting in your garden..
We came from here...

Sounds like a very comfy room Betty! Thanks for the fresh coffee!
Yippee I am first...
but you forgot the picture!
Awww Linda beat me! LOL
Hmmm Debbie, what shall I paint so I can hang it next to where you sit?
Very nice room and thank you for the coffee. I needed it.
I love comfy pillows. Thanks Betty and the coffee is great!!!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cooooffffeeeeee
Glad you all followed me over, know we're only mid way through January but lordy I so want to see 'black soil' know some of you are able to do so and I so envy you!
Hello Everyone!
What a beautiful room to come into, the coffee is wonderful and the chair comfortable. It's always nice to have a bright room to come into when it's snowing and overcast out. It started to snow shortly before I got off work. I picked up Tubby and we came straight home. The ramp is covered and brought the mail in and have gone through most of it. Two big envelopes of papers from the insurance co. I'll through them later. It about gives a person a headache after a while.
Laura, the camper looks great. You'll truly enjoy it, and do you have any camp grounds close by your place? There are alot of them close around us, some with all the necessities and others not. My DB carries a generator with them in case there is no electrical hookups.
Gas is at $3.05 here. It's been that way for a couple of weeks, I don't know what they are predicting, but what can one do but pay. I just try to make each trip count and not run here and there when I want. The house fuel isn't much better.
Supper is in the oven warming up and I believe Tubby is taking a nap. It was great to work today and see all the people I miss. It wasn't over busy, but the time seemed to go fast.
Chat later.
Shirley
Shirley it sounds like you enjoyed work today.
Snow again for you sorry. Temp was 50 and we BBQ chicken and it was gooood.
We usually go to Pennsylvania. Pretty country sides and beautiful farms.People are very friendly.
We may get generator but usually end up in sites with elec. and water.
Stay warm.
Dropping in with a 'hi' and off to bed..
Got a phone call from my girlfriend from here, remember the one who lost all her hubbies and fiance, well she was in the mood to chat, 1 1/2 on the telephone, much too long for me but she needed someone to gab with so we chatted until she said 'we'll better let you go, past your bedtime' lol
Looks as though Laura that you are already planning your first trip, just too exciting..love travelling in Pennsylvania, so much history..love the southern states as well..if you ask Debbie she'll tell you when I go tramping around the country I research absolutely all there is to see in the area I'm travelling in..lordy we even got to see a Mexican type sun village/temple..actual name escapes me, one would never have know that it existed so close by the highway..that's the fun part isn't it..driving, stopping to see what the countryside has to offer..I envy you!
Shirley, don't envy you those insurance papers, you have to be a lawyer to read and fill them out. Glad work went well and you got to spend time with friends..bet you've been missing that! Should go look at previous thread to see the age of your grandaughter?? does she drive?? that certainly would help you out, save you doing all on your own..hugs and prayers for Tubby..
Mary, keep thinking Mardis Gras I am...tell me what on the celebration schedule will you take the family to? can't imagine it, so crowded on a regular evening, cannot think how one would move around..Bourbon Street missed being swept away when Katrina hit? biggest thing that caught my attention was when I thought about MardiGras and the celebration, thought it was in such a big area, and yet the gardens of the hotels are smaller than 1/2 my backyard so where oh where to the people go?
Falling asleep so off I go..gab tomorrow good Lord willing!
Betty - I'm heading for bed shortly, I'm tired and really didn't so much today. The GD is 19, so she can drive and will be alot of help. I'm sure she will want to go up and visit with my Mom for a day or so, or maybe she'll so get her and bring her down for a week. See what the weather will be like when she gets here. I know I'm looking forward to the visit as much as she is, she has called almost daily.
Will chat with all tomorrow, sweet dreams everyone.
Shirley
Hello To All !
Yay Shirley ! So will she get a part time job while visiting you? or is she not to stay for that long ? I know she will be a help since she can drive... What a sweet gal I think already since she is interested in spending time with her Great Grandmother as well.... I hope I was that unselfish when 19. I know I always LOVED looking at Grandma's photo albums... that was my "thing" all the black & white photos of Mom & Dad as teens... etc....
Betty - As of the last ...hmmm... 5 years or so... we've gone to the "Spanish Town Parade" here in Baton Rouge. We have a dear family we are close to... their church is on the parade route. So they buy us a parking spot in the Church parking lot. They have kids now 5.5 & 9 who LOVE our teens. Since we are 'with' the church we can use their rest rooms. (THIS is VERY MUCH a good thing!) We go down early... eat breakfast at the Downtown Market... then hang out in the church parking lot and picnic... then we can watch the parade as it goes around our area...we can pick it up coming two ways.... Spanish Town IS very naughty though... the younger kids don't really 'get' it. But some floats can be ..um... well naughty. http://www.spanishtownmardigras.com/
If I had Friends (You, etc) come in for Mardi Gras... I would also be tempted to head to one of the BIG New Orleans Parades as well.. Endymion, Rex, Bacchus. Nothing like a New Orleans Mardi Gras !!
People FILL the streets. You can't drive on Bourbon Street... I've half a mind to see if a hotel room is still available...and book for fun. I haven't done that since the old party years....
Will send and come back to respond to more...
((HUGS))
Mary
Morning, just turned up the heat, lordy it's a cold morning, one that you can see snow diamond dust on everything, should bring my camera with me this morning! Would have loved to snuggle under those blankets this morning but Sailor had other ideas, kept clawing at me so up I am.
Mary, last time I was in New Orleans is when the ship hit the dock on the Mississippi Storefront area..quite a few years ago and then also with the group of seniors I brought there...should go through my photo's and see what I can find....great memories for sure! I can well imagine how some of the parade floats would be rauncy..lol thanks for the link
I stayed at a hotelabout 2 miles up from the french quarter for part of a week, was nice touring but didn't get to tour the areas I wanted like graveyards, bayou ...one day Mary I'm a coming..
Shirley, nothing like spending time with grandma's, they have such a fascination for the young..was funny, when Danie's boys were here they saw the antique telephone on the wall that you could still use, hold the earphone to the ear and talk in the mouthpiece, omg they said it was pre-historic and love dit..few other items in my house wowwwed them..lol so we do have an appeal.
Only a few pages left in the book I'm reading so might go up, get myself a hot chocolte and relax for an hour or so...
Gab later
Good morning to all.
Betty were you able to down load from the library?
Here you need to make a reservation for some of the campgrounds 3 to 6 months in advance as they fill-up quick.
We will find out on Friday if that is the unit we are getting. (fingers crossed)
It warmed-up a little yesterday. Was able to empty some of the flower pots as the dirt froze and could not do last week. I know I was a little late in clean up outside.
Off to get kids to school and do some more sewing.
Good Morning!
Well, I think the sun is going to come out. I will have to go get my clothes on for the day and get the white clothes in to soak. Then I better straighten up the house. I need to shovel a bit outside, I think we only got 2" or so, light so will shovel easily. Will go out and check on the birds. There seems to be plenty to do that I never have to look for it.
I'll drop back in later and see what you are all doing, Betty hope you get some pictures of the snow diamond dust, it's always the best when the sun is shining on it. That's my favorite.
Good day to all and be careful out there.
Shirley
Betty those would be some pretty pictures!
I took the day off, they said it was going to ice around noon and I needed to get some things done on my car so I took the day off so I could get that done this morning and not have to worry about driving in the ice this afternoon. Of course it hasn't done that! They said this morning it would rain, which it did, then around noon it was going to get below 32* and we would have freezing rain, which it did but it was 36*, then it snowed like they said but it's still 36* so nothing has stuck. There's more coming so we'll see what happens with this. I really wish they could tell what it is going to do better than this!
I'm tired of this dreary weather, we haven't seen the sun in like 4 days or something.
Shirley glad you had a good day at work! It's great that you get along with everyone so well!
Crissy - I do get along with everyone at work, I put up with the ones I have to, but on the whole they are good people to work with. I got to see some of the Drs. I haven't seen for awhile. They were glad to see me and that's always nice. You know that no matter what a person does for a living there will always be ones that you work with that you avoid if possible, that's what I do and it makes the day much better. I know someone must like them it's just not me, they usually are back stabbers or pot stirrers, I don't care for those kind.
I have gotten quite a bit accomplished so far, I have the window shades in the shower. I premoistened them, I'll take some ammonia down it a bit and wash them good. I've got a chain hanging in the old part of the house that I will put some old towels over and hang them there to dry. I have a kitchen window yet to wash and that will be done till GD gets here to help hang the curtains. I probably should go out and clean the snow off vehicle, but they are predicting snow tomorrow. I'll decide later. I'll check back later.
Crissy I am car shopping, too. I wish I could go with a stick shift; always had one until my knees got bad. This last car (P.T.Cruiser) was my first automatic.
My DS works for Nissan and he wanted me to look at the new little Juke. I love the turbo-charged car but it is just too small for me. I'm looking at the Nissan Versa (my DDhas the Rogue) or the Toyota Prius II hybrid. If I don't go with a Nissan I will be the only one in the family. (shame on me).
My husband and I used to race cars so I like a sporty car that has some pep to it with good handling. But the low sporty cars are too hard for this 71 yr. old lady to get into anymore so I have to have something that is easy to get into, has a comfortable ride for all my trips and still looks good.
Loved my Cruiser but it is a 2002 and time I got something else. I'm giving mine to my DIL.
Where the heck has Betty been all day??? Too quiet on here!
I am back from my day out with Hubby....celebrating anniversary (21 years) and the foot doctor.
Sorry I copied and pasted what I already note...but I am exhuasted!
Well, do you want the good news or the "Debbie is really not happy about this" news?
WE will start with that and then end on a positive.
Got my foot xray after waiting 45 minutes. Then we walked thru the hospital (I just had my boot, no crutches) to the docs office. She took a look at my foot (Ph. Asst.) and was not happy. Asked how it felt, and I told her...she says I can see that...and WHY are you walking on it? I said "Dr. S said down to one crutch last week...and no crutches this week." WELL, they sent me back down to Xray...for a view of my ankle...WITH my crutchs. Grrrrr! Wanted me in a wheelchair but I refused. (Yes, I am a stubborn one). SO, waited another 30 minutes...got the xray...back down to the Doctors office.
Shows me the break, which is still there, shows me the frayed ligaments, which are still there...and tells me I have a severe sprain...no weight bearing for another 10 to 14 days...if I start to weight bear, and it hurts at all...no weight bearing. AND I go back Feb. 10th. SO, 2 more weeks of elevating and icing...(no not frosting kind, dang!) And crutches!! SOOO, I am not happy. I don't sit still well ya know!
Ok, onto the good part. As you know DH took the day off. We had fresh coffee and breakfast sandwich at home (my fave). Then headed off to Rochester. My Thursday counseling...which I haven't been to since Dec. 23. Anyway...that went well. Came back out and DH had ran to Dunkin Donuts and got me a pound of GROUND coffee so I can brew it at home. He actually had a free coupon for giving blood the month of Jan. so that was really nice.
THen we went to Barnes & Noble and he got me a Nook Cover which I really need as my Nook is loosing its backing from so much use and I am afraid the screen was going to get scratched.
We then went to foot doctor...fast forward 2 1/2 hours.
Back into Rochester, late lunch/early dinner at Red Lobster, which is my favorite. "Flash back 23 years..we had our first date at Red Lobster". So, I had a garden salad with rance...cheese biscuits...shrimp scampi, woodgrilled shrimp on scewers, rice pilaf ...baked potato with sour cream. and some iced tea. VERY good. And the nice waiter...Anthony, gave us a bag of biscuits to take home!
And even though I wasn't supposed to be walking, we took a quick side trip to the mall as one of the shops sells calendars...and they are now 70% off...we both needed one. SO, I got the "Birds & Blooms" one.
ANd after all that traveling we just got home at 6:45!
SOOOO, DH just ran to pick up DS.....and hoping I will have other news later on to share.
Shirley, sounds like it was a good day....and give some hugs to Tubby.
Bev, where are you missy?
Waving to everyone...
Debbie
Shirley I know exactly where your coming from. I had/have/whichever drama with a woman I work with, I always called her Ms. Cheerful because that's exactly what she isn't, she's a bully, plus everything else you described and then some, and when I stopped having problems with her was when I got my private office, she's still nasty now and then but I'm not the back-up secretary anymore, I moved up, and she lost that battle. There's only 11 people in the office I work in so it's very close knit.
Janice the Juke is a stick shift. That thing looks like it would be too hard to wash, plus it has too many new electronic gadgets on it that love to break, that's why I'm getting rid of my Rogue, the technology hasn't caught up with itself on the key-less ignitions. I'll be getting another car in 2 - 3 years anyway so who knows, maybe I'll get one of those new Honda CR-Z's. :-) I'd get another Nissan in a heartbeat but Dave doesn't want me to because of all the problems I've had with this one, he's a Toyota man and all my mom ever owned from 1976 to 1993 is Toyota, so I grew up with them, so what the hey, I'll appease him this time and maybe it will have problems too when it gets up to 80,000 miles. I originally set out to get a Civic Coupe EX but they're $4,000 more than a Corolla, and I'd have to order either one because they don't sell those cars with stick shifts down here in Gulf Coast States!
Ha! I used to drag race with my dad, he's a mechanic and used to build alcohol engines for his ex-best friend's dragster. I grew up racing and mechanicing and all.
Is it Chris who works for Nissan?

Debbie we crossed, you certainly had an eventful day! That sucks about your sprain and frayed ligaments! I didn't realize you had frayed ligaments, I missed that part somehow. I took a vacation day today as it was going to snow, which it did but it didn't stick, so I burned a vacation day for nothing. Oh well, I got more rest!
Crissy, we were supposed to get more snow today...it has yet to show. I shouldn't complain...it will show up twice as bad. Hope it stays away for you!
What I have is called an Evulsion fraction, it is broken at the base of the 5th metatarsal bone on the foot....and the ligaments that hold the bone in place have "frayed" and are not doing the job. Doc believes when I broke it, as my foot was totally numb...I didn't feel the twist of the entire foot and ankle. It explains the lovely colors.
Debbie, just reading makes my foot ache. I know it will be hard to not be on it, but that's the only way it will heal. I can't believe 2 wks will do it, but miracles never cease to happen and we're praying for one for you. Happy Anniversary and glad you both had a good time. It's been many years since I've been to Red Lobster, I've tried to make those biscuits, but never get them as good as theirs. Please do take care of yourself and stay off the foot.
Tubby is tucked in for the night and I think I'll head that way myself.
Betty where are you? We haven't heard from you since morning. Hope all is well, did you get any pictures of the snow diamond dust?
Good night to all and sweet dreams and God Bless!
Tubby & Shirley
Debbie - Happy Anniversary ! ((HUGS)) !
Sounds like a Lovely day overall... albeit some negative stuff... You always do highlight the positive and I LOVE that about you !
(Hugs) Shirley ! Ready for that grandaughter to come !
Betty - WOW ! I definitely remember that day. I had vowed to make a "Christmas Shopping Trip" to the Riverfront a tradition for DS and I. I was a single Mom back then. He was probably ... 4 ? 7? I woke up on the day and got DS ready to go shop there when we called (the friend I referenced above.... with the parade) ... and he told us that a BARGE hit the Riverfront and it was evacuated ! At first "Bodies" were found but think they determined they were mannequins.... So we didn't go... Close call ... if I had not called my friend... we'd have driven on down there ! Long drive to a closed down shopping center. Small world. You feel free to plan a trip down here whenever you are ready. I'll be here. Maybe I can try out some grave tours / bayou tours before you come to find the 'good ones'.... LOL
(HUGS)
Mary
Morning!
I can't believe I am on here before Betty, are you up? It's snowing here, I don't think it's suppose to amount to too much. We'll see what it looks like in the daylight.
Tubby has dialysis today and I have plenty to get done while he is gone, if he goes.
Yes, I'm excited for GD to come. I'm ready as there's not alot to get ready. I called my Mom yesterday to let her know she was coming and why. So she is ready to help and looking forward to seeing her. She needs some of my Mom's attitude, so hopefully we can make some progress. Will say prayers to help.
Will check back later, gonna have some coffee. I'd make a coffee cake, but I would probably be the only one eating it and my hips sure don't need it.
Have a great day!
Shirley
Been home sick since yesterday morning, up for a sec. and back to bed..chat later..
Pop in when you can my friend and get well soon...Sending prayers and warm gentle hugs too....
Feel bettet Betty, get some rest. You are worn out
Morning Shirley & Tubby. We got a bit of hard packed snow last night, roads are not fun. And the cold is bitter...high today of 12 with wind.
Our snow is blowing in right off the lake, big band over the top moving this way.
Having my coffee....be back in a bit. DRIVE safe to work or wherever your travels lead you today
Debbie
Morning everyone! Debbie, sorry to hear about your foot not h ealing! Make sure you use those crutches, and don't put weight on it!
Betty, you got a cold? So sorry to hear your not feeling well!
Betty so sorry to hear you are ill, please stay down and get some rest and take good care of yourself. We will chat with you later.
Debbie it is snowing pretty good here, I can't see the highway from the house. We'll see if we go out today or not. You stay off that foot today. It is only 9* here, but it suppose to get to about 21*. Just can't always believe what they say.
LindaKay it is probably in the 50's there. That would be lovely right now.
Barb are you getting this snow also? I think the kids in Wisconsin are to get some of this, as it's coming from the south. LK are you sending this our way ? LOL
Betty, did they fix your furnace? Now I am going to worry about that...when the furnace man wanted to shut it off. That can give you flu like symptoms. Get it checked sweety if they haven't fixed it...and get some air.
The dogs were going crazy, looked out and there's been an accident up on the highway. The cars that know this neck of the woods are coming by our place to get to town. The semi's are stuck on the road. I can see the lights flashing, I called the gal that lives on the corner by highway, she made it to work but said someone was off on the south side and some of the people were trying to pass and the roads are too slick for that. She said the snow is to stop later today and then start up again tomorrow thru Sunday. We can get 5 - 6 inches then. Love winter, NOT! It doesn't really bother me unless I have to get out when it is really bad, but that just makes me more thankful when I get home. The one dog laid in the middle of the county road, she thinks she owns this neck of the woods. I had to bribe her with food to get her in and shut the doggie door off so they won't get hit. She likes to chase them if their not going fast enough. The plow just made it's second pass by our place. They got the traffic moving again. Will chat later. Everyone be careful today.
OH Shirley, that is so scary. We just had a tractor trailer carrying crates of apples tip over on Saturday. Closed the road off for 8 hours, and thankfully no one hurt...but sure was a mess. Up on the main Rd...Rt. 104 which is a major truck and vehicle route.
Praying no one was hurt and just a traffic mess.
Sure praying that no one was hurt too bad! Hopefully they just slid off the road?
Oh no Betty! Hope your feeling better soon, I know there's a nasty stomach flu going around down here.
Yikes Shirley! This weather sure causes a lot of problems. We're supposed to get about an inch or two, I think they said, on Sunday night so Monday's commute could be bad, we'll see.
I have nothing to talk about, my life is boring!
Just got home a bit ago from taking Tubby in, the traffic is moving fairly slow. That was a vehicle off in the field by the highway and there was another off by the bypass going to town. It looks like he probably was going too fast for the bend in the road. The wrecker was there pulling it out on the way home. The cop had the traffic stopped coming in to town. It did quit snowing for now, will go do chores before I go back in later. I'm gonna run the vacum and wash a couple windows first. There's not much for excitement
around here either. Chat later!
glad you made it safely Shirley.
I got the pattern today
Betty and I really love it. I'll be pulling fabrics next week if all goes to plan......Thank you so much
Hope this finds you feeling better and on the road to recovery. Hugs(((((((())))))))
Betty, hope you feel better very soon...
Debbie, my friend at work was just sick for a few days, she fell and broke her foot!!! sounded like yours...sure hope you both get better fast too!!!
