§ Sweet Interruptions § 209

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Moring!
Susan, so glad to hear you got a good recording finally!

Coffee and sweet rolls are ready, come and help yourself!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!
Oh Susan, will you be sharing with us on Youtube? You could make it private? Would love to hear your voices. Tired or not, at least you CAN sing, and I've heard you sung before.

Sue, your DH is back now, and it will be difficult to return to healthy eating.
It didn't bother Kel one bit last night that he had to fix his own meal, but he got upset that I seriously refused his food.

Neener I forgot to tell you that I can't try out your energy bar recipe as I found that my Cuisinart is now condemned to the trash can :(
Will have to get me another.

Crissy, I prefer Lean Cuisine's flavors compared to some other brands.
They used to make "Lemon Grass Chicken" and "Butternut Squash Raviollis" that were so good. Don't know why they took them off the market after a year.

How's your kitty Twyla? Bless your heart for doing your best for a helpless critter.

Just coffee here, LK.
The winds are brutal outside and making the temps seems like 20's.
Wonder if Barb is still getting snow.

(((((((((Cookie))))))))))) ((((((((((((((Marion))))))))))))

Have a glorious Friday everyone!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, what happened to your cuisinart?
How about some fresh fruit! Lots of vitamin C!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes Jaye we are still getting snow. As I speak those little white dots are falling from the sky. We got another 3-4 inches overnight and it's not supposed to stop until noon so we will get another 3-4 on top of that!!! No wonder I'm snow-blind! No school today!! AGAIN!! So the kids here had Monday off-holiday; Wed off-snow; Thurs late start at school; and today no school again. It's been quite the week and I imagine parents all over town are ready to drive the darlings there themselves. It makes it very hard when both parents work.
In our neighborhood, the parents of elementary school kids got together and take turns on no school days. There are fourteen little ones around here and they set it up so there are three parents for each snow day. These kids are from seven different families so it not only varies from storm to storm but when it's time to start again, the parents vary too. It's a great way to get to know each other as well. That way no parent is taking too many days off from work. I thought it was a very creative arrangement.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ew Jaye, I got sick on the Lemongrass Chicken one. I didn't know they took it away as I haven't been looking for it. Maybe that's why, maybe it was 'tainted' lol

Barb that's a great arrangement!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh wow Barb.. I just posted on the other site the same question about you.
So sorry you're still having snow :(
Last Saturday, the schools were opened for 1/2 day to make up for the 3 days without school.
There were no such brilliant contingent plans like your neighbourhood. Working parents here are at the mercy of their extended families, or had to take turns missing work.
Kel's cousin's a school teacher and parent to 3 teenagers. She said the only blessing from these imposed shutdowns, is that she got paid staying in with the kids!!
Stay warm Barb. I'm sure you're wishing for an early, early spring.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

So, what's your favorite Lean Cuisine Crissy?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Spaghetti with meat sauce!

I do the lean cuisnine some times during soccer season, when i m to tired to cook
i like the enchilada one.
got my hair done
5" of snow last night,
am today 1 degree,
went to grocery
Barb the same is here with us, no school again today *sigh*
eating is hard , sugar and carb cravings are getting wildly intense. !! i ate a sprinkle donut yesterday.... it was soooooooooooooo guuuuuuuud.
like heaven in my mouth. aaahhh.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sue got her hair done! Doesn't that make you feel so much better?

Gotta go and make a pineapple upside down cake for Dad's Birthday today. He is 76!
I'll make sure to bake it with no calories, so you all can have a piece! LOL!

LK you are so kind ! making a cake with no calories. so sweet LOLLL yes pun intended i crack me up
happy b day to your dad.
yes i do feel a bit better . the grey hair is gone. But i m not skinnier ? go figure .

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahhh.. I just said the same thing on another thread. As long as I'm just reading about the pineapple upside down cake, zero calories for me too!!!
Now Sue, you already got a gorgeous figure. How much skinnier you'd want to be??

Sistahs, I've just learned that an old sistah that used to be on DG truly needs prayers. Some of you recall Donna (Ladybarber) and Max.. and what an ordeal they went through with losing their home in Florida and having to move to Ohio and start all over again? Remember the fracas that Max had with his 'twins' and ex wife when he tried to bond with them?
Well, I won't get into specifics, but Lord knows the assurances that Donna and Max need.. and I know that He will do what's best and right for them.
My kind sistahs.. please add them to your prayers.

On a lighter note... all this talk of Wendy's salad..
Kel picked me up for lunch, and I bought for a salad. BUT, I had no appetite for chicken nor the blue cheese nor the pecans!! The pecans were sugar coated, and I didn't know it had cheese (I'm off cheese) and the chicken pieces I gave to Lola.
So I munched on the cranberries, apples and greens.
All these right eating has made me VERY regular!! lol!
My body must be in a state of shock... or detox!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye that's making me worry, it's one thing to cut back on food but meat gives you the protein us humans need. If we weren't supposed to be meat eaters the Lord wouldn't have made us be meat eaters. I'd pass out lol

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy.. thanks for your concern. I do eat meat, just gave up on the red.
The grilled chicken didn't appeal to me.

You've seen me... I can stand to lose a few pounds!! Anyway, the veg servings I gave myself is triple than normal.
It's grilled salmon tonight (you can breathe now, Crissy), steamed spinach (think I ate a pound)!!!
((((((((((((((((((((MY CRISSY))))))))))))))))))))

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Prayers and hugs going out to Donn and Max. May there be peace in their lives.....

jaye i saw the nutrition guide at Wendys and boy let me tell you. Not as healthy as the look. Big calories some are over 500 and 1/3 is from fat . go figure ?
here is a salad i really love
2 cups spinach leaves or more depending on how hungry you are
1/2 an apple cut into bite size peices
2 TBL fat free feta. optional or dried cranberrys
2 TBL walnut pieces
i add chicken sometimes 3 ozs cooked.
i found a raspberry fat free dressing i like with it 2 TBL :)
yes i m not as heavy as i used to be but its my body image disorder talking ... it talks to much LOLLL i always see myself as a fat person . i also binge eat. yeppers , that is my story and i m sticking to it.
next week i m doing stuffed peppers with brown rice ,veggies and marinara

sending T&P to max and Dawn

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Here's Dad and his Birthday cake!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you Barb and Sue.
Donna and Max certainly need all the prayers. She didn't solicit help from me personally and truly has a lot on her plate.

Sue, I don't pay attention to the label, and no fear about the dressing. I normally take my salad plain. Must be the Asian in me, prefer to taste the natural flavor in raw veges.
It's not gonna be an easy road until my new eating has begin to establish itself into a habit :(

LK, that cake GLISTENS!!!!!! You're a baaaaaaaad sistah showing us that!!!
It looks so goooooooooood.... I'm salivating.
Knowing you, weekend's drive with your Dad will end up in a restaurant for continous b'day celebration.
Enjoy your time with your Dad, LK.

I'm off to bed. Got a new audio book to listen to.. more like lull me to sleep!!!

Good night and mucho love sistahs!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi Sistahs - Jaye, I notice you still keep me on the prayer list for selling our trailer - well, someone's coming to look at it tomorrow, so we're having a clearing binge!!
The Lord's will be done...... but I'm not going to get all bent out of shape, cuz it won't sell easily.
We'll see what we see, right?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Prayers for our Ladybarber and her Max..... chatted a lot with her about her move.... siiiiiigh

good morning my sistah's
funny jaye i m the same way . LOL maybe there is a bit of asian in me too ? could happen ?
hope you all are warm.
we are -7 here today and for the next few days.
LK that does look like a wonderful cake !!
Susan good luck selling your trailer
we sold a fifth wheel trailer , ung what a pain that was. i feel for you girl.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning my sistahs!!!
Just came in from feeding Hambone and the cold cuts through the bone.
It's in the 30's but the winds are brutal!!!! Hambone's day shelter protects him.

Susan, hope it's a sale! I know how bad you want to move into a house with more space.
BTW, how much snow are you getting?

You and Barb certainly need to move to a warmer climate.

Ahh Sue, so, I'm not the only strange one with salads. Kel thinks it's a punishment when I go without dressing. He'd bury his greens under ranch dressing. Only time he'd eat a salad is with spaghetti and meat sauce. A habit from school days :(

Hope all you sistahs stay warm today.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh LK you can come here anytime and make one of those cakes!

I think Susan needs to move to a warmer climate too, down here! Whatcha say Susan????

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy.. you need to move to a tornado free area!!

Would you all believe it's snowing here :( So, I fix a pot of vegetable beef soup for supper tonight. Added cabbage to the pot.. watch out for some gasworks tonight!! Kel can scoop out all the meat!
Been having the munchies.. I want to stay good.. so munched on rabbit food!!!

jaye we weirdo salad people got to stick together LOL
night time is the hardest for me . i get the bored munchies.
today i had cake , but it was sooo good. worth every calorie
good night ladies
sue

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye I'm from a tornado free area! LOL LOL LOL Rabbit food!

Sue YUM! But if your eating cake at night you probably won't lose any weight. You probably won't gain, but you won't lose either. You're hilarious! Dave was asking for choco chip cookies last night so y'all know what I'll be baking this afternoon! I want some of that pineapple upside down cake!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Jaye I need to give you this recipe. It is divine!

Worlds Best Braised Cabbage

1 head of cabbage about 2 pounds
1 large onion, quartered
2 carrots, cut
¼ cup stock or water
EVOO
salt and pepper

Heat oven to 325. The the cabbage into 8 wedges and remove the core. Lay in a single layer in an oblong baking dish. Top with onion and carrot. Pour over the stock and drizzle a nice amount of EVOO over it all. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with foil and place in the oven for 2 hours. After one hour turn the cabbage wedges over and recover with foil. At the 2 hour mark, if the cabbage is nice and soft, remove the foil and raise the oven to 400. Roast for 15 minutes. If it is dry, add a little more stock or water to keep it from getting too brown. When it is finished sprinkle with a little more coarse salt and serve!

This is so good I can eat it all. DH doesn't eat any vegetables either, so I know where you are with that. He still managed to lose all the weight though by cutting out the preservatives and processed foods.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LK...great looking cake...you said your dad was 76, but you have 77 on his cake.....that was a FAST year!! ;o)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Opps, he is 77, sorry for the typo!
Morning cookie, how are you and family doing?

Plenty of pineapple cake left, hold out your plate and I will give you some!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

http://www.stitchinheaven.com/sewnspa.asp

This was just put on my wish list! Anyone want to join me???

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey LK...they're doing okay. She has her good days and bad. We reserved the community building for a 72 wedding anniversary party in April, so she's hoping that she'll still be here and feel like celebrating. Me, too.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We will be saying our prayers that she makes it too! 72 years? That is a long time!

Oh Cookie i just have tears in my eyes reading your comment. Oh honey i will pray she has more better days then bad.
not much here ladies
Yeah cake is my crack too. honestly anything with sugar in it is my crack ! LOLLLl aaahhh i love sugar.
well monday we eat rabbit food again. soup is good .
sue

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

me to chocolate and sweets , sweets.lol.

Prayers for Donna and Max.

everyone keep safe, well blessings.. much happiness.

Jaye are you watching the game ? did you see that play on the fumble, Steelers recovered and made a TD !!! wooo hoooo
24-0 2 nd quarter folks.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Well, lots to say, sistahs - we got an offer on the trailer, but it was ridiculously low.
We asked for $30k, they offered $20 (HS!), and we countered with $27k. They haven't returned the realtor's ph msg, so I guess it's a "no go". Too Bad, eh? LOL LOL LOL
And the realtor also said that the City has "lost" the land they wanted to move us to, so it would be at least 2018 before they would move us anyway. IF they get to move us. They may repair the infrastructure. anyway, that means the price of our trailer is destined to go up.
And our realtor says he may have others interested in looking at it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! wheat toast, and bacon and eggs. Lots of fresh fruit.

Susan, sure hope they come back with an offer, if not hopefully one of the others will come through!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Blessed day y'all!

Another day of cold and that unwelcome guest is expected again today. Yikes, snow :*(

Did watch the games, Sue. If you're happy that Steelers won, then you got Kel on your side :D Sorry, not a Steelers fan, but not a Jets fan neither.
Did you watch that Green Bay game? It's jaw dropping to see this big defense guy intercepted the ball and jogged his way to TD! And it's the touchdown that saved them too!

Cooked beef stew yesterday, and I just scooped out the veges. Craved for the meat when I saw Kel enjoying the tender morsels.. and can't help it but stole a couple pieces from the pot :(
But for snacks, I did good. More rabbit food :D
I found too that dipping carrots into Romano Pesto is delicious..

((((((((((((Cookie))))))))))))) Am so glad to read that you are all planning for their wedding anniversary ^_^
We'll keep on praying that she'll be with you for the next Christmas, and Lord willing, more anniversaries.

Neener, thank you for the recipe. I'll eat cabbage in all forms!!
Would you believe that sometimes when I'm roasting chicken, I'd do a "vege packet" where I'd make a tinfoil purse with a wedge of cabbage, thick juliennes of carrot, drizzle some olive oil, couple tbsp. of water and a a rash of bacon over the veges. Bake that along with chicken @ 350 for about 45 - 60'.
Now that I'm trying to lean towards more healthy menus.. think I'll sub that bacon with some balsamic vinegar.
Another delicious way of cooking cabbage, is to steam them along with cut potatoes with pieces of ham... OMG.. sinfully good.

Susan, that means God is releasing the pressure from you when you had to find a buyer asap. Now you can breathe, sistah!! Plenty of time to save up too for a bigger downpayment!

Hi Twyla!! How are you today? Has your kitty improved?

Awww LK.. but that means I need to spend another $500 for that flight to Dallas!!
Once I ordered a kit from Stitchin' Heaven and they included a bitty boot charm as a thank you gift. How sweet!
How's your outing with your Dad, LK? Which restaurant did you treat him at this time?
I'll take the fruits!

Got another prayer request in dmail.
Mistressgardner (Linda) has asked us to remember her in your thoughts and prayers.
Some of you must have known this already, if you're friends with her on FB.
She had an accident with an off duty police officer (his fault) and had surgery for that. But the city did not pay all her medical bills.
When they ran a catscan on her, a mass was discovered in her lungs, determined to be cancerous :(
That saying "When it rains it pours"? She's denied Medicaid and right now is applying for financial help.
So please, include her in your prayers, for this brave and wonderful sistah.

I better get my behind in gear. A list of 'reorganizing' to do, besides packing up a box to be mailed!!

Have a perfect Monday!!!

This message was edited Jan 24, 2011 9:24 AM

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We did not go for a ride yesterday, as I messed up my back picking up too many boxes here. Trying to clean out and re-arrange, and I just over did it! Much better today, but still stiff.

Sending lots of prayers for Linda!
