hello all, hope every one is warm and staying safe with all the snow in the north....hubby and I went to the local habitat store today and got him a new recliner !! his old one broke just before Christmas, it was about 15 years old and had been repaired twice...was time for a new one....pictures were on sale half price, I got a van gogh iris print in a frame for $2.50 ^_^ one of my all time favorite pictures!!

Betty, I too hate confrontations, but it does sound like you need to have a little chat with Dannie.....been there too with offering someone a place to stay for a bit, and having them try to take over the house!! It can be hard to set rules for them, when you are knowing they are a "little down and out'' which is why you are trying to help them out in the first place.....if she is going to be there until sometime in March?? best to set the rules sooner than later.....Hugs to you my dear...and good luck, but I know you can do it!!!!

Betty everyone has said it so well - your house,YOUR rules. That really is intruding by bringing her sons over to stay. Don't think that was in your'contract'. Hope your friend can talk to Danie and tell her what she is doing - Danie is probably in such an emotional state right now she is not cognizant of her behaviour.You should not be a prisoner in your home afraid to do what you routinely do.

Loved the pictures of the duck race!! I just want to know who had to go get all the abandoned ones?

Betty almost all tires are M+S (mud and snow) sold here. It's very hard to find tires that aren't M+S. We should all go out and look at the sidewall of our tires where the brand is at, I bet we all find an M+S written on it!

Oh! Betty he's an alcoholic, as long as he's not drunk we get along fine but he switches from happy to extremely angry and violent in 2 seconds flat when he's drinking. She needed to do something, and I'm glad she did, she pressed charges and put him in jail for it and everything. She posted on Facebook today that she's going to quit playing and start being serious with her life again. She got real slutty too, she had a different guy at her house spending the night every week. If she was treating me this way I know she was treating everyone else she knows this way too, except her family. I think she's 26 going on 16, she acts like it anyway. She needs a grow up injection.

Evening all, know it's not late but heading to bed all the same..tummy churning so night of relaxation is needed.

One thing though, as I was pulling in the yard after visiting with my Bernie my brother, her van was idling, came in just as they were all leaving..and that's ok.

Said she was dropping them off, not sure if the eldest is coming back with her or not..anyway going to bed, tomorrow is another day..I know, Lord hates a coward right? Most likely she'll drop in the Darlene's tonight, maybe some of my concerns might be mentioned..not fair to Darlene either to be the go between but think she knows how hard it is for me to say something bad to someone...drats/more drats!!!!

Crissy, he sounds like someone you just don't want to go out for an evening on the town with..have had friends much the same, happy go lucky one minute and ready to attack the next..didn't take long to rid ourselves of those friends. Snow and Rain, our tires other than snow tires are call 'all seasons'..think I could have done with just having them on the car but BIL Lenny felt snow tires would be much better for me..guys know better right?

Barb, Lyons Club men are the ones that picked up the duckies, most of the funds go to them for various things they do within the community. This event still goes on and is quite successful. For a few years several of the communities did same so we'd borrow each others duck as neither had enough to equal tickets sold.....

Off to bed, gab in the morning and thank you all for your words of wisdom, I took it to heart! Will make sure I'll say my prayers for all in need...

Mary, that is what caused DH and DD to mess with me about the UPS man. AND, years ago, my high school crush, was a UPS delivery man. DH would tell me "I ordered a part so you could see your sweetheart". Yeah right! I did NOT want to see this kid. In high school, he made me so nervous...first and ONLY date...I got out of his car...and walked smack into a tree!!!

Well, I have to get to bed. They have left me unsupervised and I am down here alone. Happy they are leaving me alone for a bit now. All week Shane would make me go up to bed when he did to help with the crutchs. lol

Good evening!
Just got home from hospital a little bit ago. Tubby's doing much better. He ate crackers and had a pepsi this afternoon and I went and got him some KFC. He ate a leg and mashed potatoes and gravy and most of the biscuit. That was absolutely great for him. I know the blood has helped and I believe the fluids also. If they would have given him some before I know it would have made a big difference, but we got him on the right road now. He'll come home tomorrow.
I rehemed the curtains for the living room while sitting there. I'll try and get them up before I leave in the morning. The rest of the curtains are washed, but need to be iorned first so will do that this weekend. I got some of the windows washed inside, few more to do and the front door. The dogs make a mess of it constantly.
They have a duck race in Omaha for the food bank. It's always a great success. We've bought tickets before. It all goes to a good cause.
Betty, everyone has given you good advice. You know as I read your messages and you talked how Danie thinks she is always right no matter what, pretty much said what kind of person she is. She reminds me alot of Tubby's one sis that was here trying to help. It was her way or the highway, guess what I gave her the highway for a second time, and trust me it'll be the last time. His DD's didn't care because that way they didn't have to concern themselves with feeling guilty about not helping. Well, they don't help and it is their loss in the end, what goes around comes around. His sis will always make sure she looks right in the families eyes, but she knows, I know and God knows. This is my house and I'm not letting anyone tell me how to do things or try to make me feel guilty. His family has always let her get by with her rudeness and bossy ways, I'm not standing for it. When she and her hubby got divorced she told Tubby and I that we couldn't be friends with him. Tubby told her wrong, Joe never did anything to us and she had no say in the matter. That was the last we ever heard about that subject. People do amaze me, you give them an inch and they want a mile. I understand how you must feel, I don't like confrontation either, but sometimes it's the only way. I always found that as soon as it's over your body feels a weight has been lifted off your shoulders and I know that upset tummy will go away quickly. I know I can't be there to stand beside you in person, but just imagine all us around you and holding you close to us as you talk to her. You are never alone, we are always at your side no matter where you are at or what you are doing. Just know that we all care and support and love you deeply.

Morning, cold out there but no snow, haven't listened to weather forecast so not sure what the day will bring..did hear yesterday though that Toronto might get a dusting..crazy weather for sure..Saw what's happening in Brazil and Australia, sure hope our Laura is ok..

Did have a good night's rest, Danie and her son came in around 10pm but I didn't get up..leaving a note this morning that I'm expecting company for the weekend and napster not sure what program that is but will ask they remove it from my computer, just got it repaired and trying to limit what's on the system. see how that goes...and yes Mary, maybe I have to find the right time to talk, it's been either she or I running in and out since she's moved in so will find a time. Darlene had called about 8:30 and Danie hadn't dropped in for a visit so perhaps todayshe will..

Mary, hard to remember which books you've read and which you haven't..when Jeff was here we downloaded a few books onto e-reader and one I had already read.

Oh happy days, Friday..want to sew this weekend..think it was around April that I bought everything for a 'make and quilt' in on step quilt, did 2 rows and stopped, time to take it out and finish it and see what I think of the method..my intentions anyway..

Looking forward to Bernie coming tomorrow to see what I want done in this little computer room..would be nice to see it finished...one project at a time right?

Well, time to get dressed, do my hair, warm up the car and start my day....

Betty, Napster is a music program, and it takes a lot of resources on a computer. Maybe she should buy her own laptop for her personal computer?

I tried Napster and got rid of it quickly. Way too much space required and I didn't get all that much out of it..

Shirley, I was so happy to hear such a good report for Tubby. We pray for the both of you every day and I, too, hope you are getting some rest yourself. Either that or send me some of your energy. I don't know what is going on but all my ambition seems to have gone out with the old year. I need something to light a fire again..Don't' know what.

Betty, my kids had Napster on their college computers and ALL dh did was have troubles, they finally had to take it off so they had room for their school programs and work. It is NOT good, and virus can get into your computer from it.

Betty, the UPS delivered my coat to the post office, for them to deliver today, so NO didnt see my UPS man. Postal delivery is a woman. lol

Hello there, now I have a few minutes to gab...

1. tried to use computer and all these programs kept popping up, so left note, please remove

2. on the note I made mention that I was having company for the weekend and they will be arriving maybe before I get home at 4:30...will have company tomorrow morning but likely just then but thought that might make her realize she's not to have the kids over for the night...see that, am becoming a fibber..not good!

3. bottom line said, 'we keep missing each other, we must talk!'

There were 4 boxes of books on the floor, check them out, all mine..I had told her there were some pocket novels that could be boxed up as I want to bring those to Debbie as well next time I'm in USA but everything was taken and all her books put on shelves...1/2 my fault I guess for not explaining better...that felt a bit odd!!!!!

After signing off with you all I went to get a coffee and do my hair, Danie was making herself a coffee, said 'oh, your up, left you a notel and she said she saw that and had read it..asked what she was up to today, said she was going to home school the kids, pick them up at 1:00pm...then she said she came home last night and had had a terrible hour visit with her hubby, cried most of the night, had been discussing the kids, so she says 'I told Ali that the 2 younger boys don't want to be uprooted but that Christiam would come and live with me...(I panicked) she said I told Ali we'd have to pay you more as we're 2 of us...I quickly said shaking my head, no, she said yes, I said no, she said yes..I said 'you don't understand Danie' an extra person however quiet in the house just isn't what I want' told her that the last time she spent a week it was nice and quiet, then Rose came and I hardly knew she was there, then when she said she needed a (A - said that strongly) room that I had to think about it but thought it wouldn't present a major problem as I'm at work all day but that we hadn't sat down and made guidelines..said I did not mind her having the boys Monday-Friday all day while I was at work but things were not like that...asked her if she noticed how often I'm home, sleeping by 7 or 8..told her with only having 1/4 of one and an 1/8th of the other kidney that I tire easily, which I do..know I get a lot done but it's because when I'm up so early I work like the dickens but usually by late afternoon, wham I'm done...felt so badly, she said "now what willI do"

Told her that from what I see she needs a place of her own so she can have her boys with her as much as she can during this transition time and that I wasn't telling her to move asap just that this arrangement really isn't what she needs....she said maybe she'd have to move to Montreal with her parents..then it was time for me to go thank God

I know, especially since they went right by my house to get to the post office!! Ticks me off. Perhaps they have an alert system that registers "bored housewives" to be on the look out for and they just take ONLY their boxes to the post office.

You did the right thing. Don't even question that. It is not right she just assume all these kids come live with her and that it is OK to uproot your life.

Debbie, maybe he knows of the beautiful woman who lives there and didn't want to be tempted.. ever think of that? lol

I think you did a fine job of explaining yourself and if she is to have one of the kids fulltime she does need her own place.

Few flurries here as well, 18 degrees and calling for snow starting tonight for all weekend..doesn't look as though much accummulation though.

Betty, between me, my daughters and my mother in law...the books will be loved. And when done, I will donate to our library or the church "garage sale" library.

Betty I'm so proud of you. And has been said, I'm sure your tummy will settle now that you have said something to Danie. Did she not know of your need for quiet at night? It will resolve itself now that she understands that YOU have needs that aren't being met with money and that this is YOUR house and she is the guest.....Why is it that people who do have $ think everything can be bought???? They seem to be willing to pay any amount to get what they want. Is it a control thing? Over people -not the money???? I don't know.
The temp when I got up at 5am was -2!!!!! Now it's up to 15 above!!! I love the sun!!!!!!!
Doing laundry and working on the sewing room today. I've a few blocks to get done.

The UPS is the USPS's competitor, you ship with one or the other, why would they deliver to the post office? That makes absolutely no sense.

LOL Debbie I have done that!!! I was in my mid 20's though. The guy I went on a date with thought it was cute but he was as dumb as a box of rocks so that didn't work anyway.

Barb it is absolutely a control thing. Money buys power, the more money you have the more powerful you are because you can afford things, like the good ole payola. But remember, the more money you have the more money you spend and the further you go into debt. There are far more millionaires in extreme debt than middle class. Thank God not every rich person is like that, but she's young so she's going to have a chip on her shoulder.

I'm wondering if she married into the money or if her parents are rich, if she's not working she didn't get there by herself. That goes with the home schooling also, she's in complete control of her kids if they're with her and not in school. She is what you might want to call a control freak whose life is spinning out of control, and usually when someone with this much of a control problem starts spiraling downhill it doesn't stop.

Don't feel bad Betty, those kind of people will drag you down with them and anyone else who they decide to cling to. She sees you as a poor little older lady who doesn't know anything about anything and therefore she can just take over and it will all be ok because you don't know any better anyway.

Barb, it's 18 here (your temp)! You've more blocks to do, tell me how many swaps have you joined that aren't a one time mailing? Most likely I'll wait until February Debbie when you are able to drive to meet me at CrackerBarrel..Bernie was telling me he drove almost to your exit for a large BIG LOT who had one of those meat/turkey cookers that look like the oil one but are radiant heat last weekend, had I know I'd have had him deliver all the boxes I have for you...

Dropped in for short visit with him last night..he's turning a room in his garage 'retro' he bought a tall round bar table and chair set (chrome) redid an old gas pump, air pump etc. just waiting on the decals for the gas pump and it's done...says he's bored so doing these projects; he won't be bored anymore, told him I had lots to do at my place..

Well guys, you did give me the courage to do so by telling me I wasn't completely wrong and as Mary said, I'd do it when the time was right and the time certainly couldn't have gotten any better..enough of that..time to move on..

I know I'm right, I've lived it, this is what my ex-next door neighbor was doing to me in just a different form. She had mentioned several times when she first filed for divorce that I have an extra bedroom and we could live together so easily! One time when she called she said, "How big is our house?" WHA???? I pretended that I didn't get it, I said, "MY house is 1600 square feet, YOUR house feels like 1300 to me." She said, "NO, I meant your house. I guess you didn't get it." I laughed and told her that I didn't get it, but she never mentioned it again so my plan to not get it worked. That's when she started wanting all these favors done. I never saw this side of her because she was too busy bossing her drunk husband around.

My work is caught up!! Woo Hoooooo Now back to some normalcy!

I'm pretty sure she said the first weekend of August. I'm going to try to be there BUT Dave's Unemployment Benefits end in July and I don't make enough to cover the bills as it is, so if he can't find work by then I won't be coming.

Dave went up the other day and wiped the snow off of the dish so I've had internet at home for a few days now, but when I get home I just want to recline on the couch and watch tv. LOL Go figure.
