Oh man, sorry to hear about Joyce's mother.
Thanks for hug Deb. :))))
I think I missed what was wrong with Faye's DH?
I think he has a bad case of pnemonia?
Debra, just let me know when your coming down!
Debra, squeeze in a visit to the the River Walk in San Antonio. What a beautiful place chocked full of restaurants and shops, and is dripping with gardens and hanging baskets everywhere you look. Take a water taxi ride too to cool off...you'll need one in July. Or maybe stop for a long tall drink. You know the old saying "everything's bigger in Texas"? Well, the margueritas certainly are...lol Man it was blazing hot and humid when I was there several years ago for a meeting in June and am still enjoying wearing the hammered silver earrings I brought home as a souvenir. Another place you ought to check out is historic Market Square, which is a huge outdoor place and is probably as close to authentic Mexican food and wares I'll ever enjoy. Spent half a day there shopping and am still kicking myself for not buying one of those gorgeous handpainted talavera sinks, at at least one piece of pottery.
You know well what I'm talking about, LK! Never realized you could throw a rock right across the border.
Ditto what Fruity said about San Antonio. Been to the market and the River Walk. They are our favorite places to visit when we go there. I could spend days in the market. Must have sent home 100 pounds of Talavera the last time we went.
Well, you will have to tell me about market square please? I have never heard about it!
talavera pottery is so pretty, but boy is it getting pricey! I wish I had a passport to cross the border, but there is so much violence there now with all the drug wars going on! Not safe for anyone to cross now.
Yep, the drinks can be very large down here, and so tasty!!!
The first super-sized Texas marguerita I had years ago, and must have nursed for an hour, was on a visit to my SIL, when she took me to the Stockyards in Fort Worth for dinner at Billy Bob's. I thought it was cool their barstools had real horse saddles for seats.
Check out Market Square, LK. It's really close to the River Walk. Best I remember, the trolley car ride was really quick, maybe 10 minutes.

Wow, guess we learn something new every day! I had no clue that was there, and it is not far from the alamo.
Thanks!
I couldn't find Joyces phone number, you guys. It is at work. Has anyone heard from her?
Linda, the map didn't show me a "del rio", girl. I will find ya any way LOL
Just follow that purple line to the left. Right where it says ciudad acuna is Mexico. If you drive there you have gone too far, turn around and back track about 3 or 4 miles. Del rio is the last city before you go to Mexico.
But there is so much more to do in San Antonio, so I can meet you there. Not to mention Del Rio is a bit out if your way!
Maybe a new thread? I hate to toot that horn so much since everyone probably has high speed something or other except me. ^_^
Thanks for the cool link. ^_^
No worries Carole. Several links I go to have peeps with dial-up.
Debra, I was going to say stop by here on your way to Texas, until you said you were starting in Rogers. What direction are you taking to go there?
I believe she will be taking 35 south, all the way to Texas?
Our group toured the Alamo while we were there too, LK. It was such a small building from what I'd expected, but remember the courtyards full of plants were just beautiful and hope they still are.
This has been a sad day learning one of my fellow glass paperweight collectors and a mentor to me for over 10 years died last week. She was only in her 50's, gone way too soon.
Sorry to hear you lost a friend! (((((((((HUGS)))))))))))
Yes, the Alamo is small, but the gardens are beautiful!
Well, I usually take 166 over to Missouri.. drop down 65 I think to Rogers, will have to study the map .. Crit, where is Sand Springs Oklahoma?
Aww Fruity, I am so sorry. {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}
Debra, why do you go to Missouri, then down to Texas? You live right next to 35, just get on that, and you have a straight shot. Unless your visiting someone else over that way?
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! What are you up to today?
FOTV, I thoughts are with you as are my prayers. It is so sad to lose a good friend and mentor.
Marti
Hello everyone. Haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread but do want to thank everyone for your cards,(Nita, the card and the envelope you made are treasures) (Susan, cannot thank you enough for the calls) thoughts, prayers and well wishes for Ray while he has been in the Hospital. After 14 days in Hospital, hopefully he will come home tomorrow. Ray was in ICU for 6 days and one of his nurses told us last night that for awhile it was touch and go. Ray had very serious Pneumonia, but by the grace of God, he is coming home.
I am at home now to take Snese to the Vet. Do not know what is wrong except he doesn't want to walk or play and he yeps when I pick him up. Ray is my heart and Snese is my little heart, so I'm afraid again.
Love and Hugs to all
Faye

Linda, I was going to Missouri to drop down to Rogers , Arkansas to pick up my little sister and then head south. But, tonite, when I came home she called, and she has a huge lump in her left breast and now she is scheduled for all kinds of stuff. She says her money will go to the drs and stuff, I told her not to worry about money to concentrate about good test results. We Will Go To Texas. I told her it is prolly a nasty cyst, since she is over 50 and in menopause. She liked that explanation..
Oh goodness, will be sending lots of prayers her way, for a good Dr. report!

Prayers for your sis Debra. I had those cysts. Dr. told me to lay off caffine because it would make them fill up again. Can't do with out my Pepsi once in a while, but do 1/2 caf on coffee and tea.
Well ..... off to bed for me. I'm beat!!!!!!!!!
I have not heard anything else from Joyce. Has anyone else?
She'll be back posting as soon as she can.
SIL wants to go shopping. Off to the shower and go but am not looking forward to facing the cold winds and possibility of blowing snow.
Gee you were up early Fruit Loop. :0)
That is absolutely Beautiful. Bet it is great too!
Hey Susie, how are you doing! Thanks for lunch! Looks really good!
Yummy, Susie! I LOVE peppers.
DH and I are going to a concert tonight... SLASH
Have fun! Is this slash from guns and roses?
Hello all. Ray is home and is very weak. Cannot get enough breath to talk much. It is so good having him here with me and our 2 fur boys. Snese is still not acting right even after taking him to the Dr. twice and spending $341. Dr. wanted me to bring him back tomorrow and I told him I was not. He will not know any more tomorrow than he did the other 2 times I took him.
Hope everyone is staying warm, and for you lucky ones working outside, don't forget the sunscreen.
Hugs, Faye
