Morning taters! I'm first here.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yum!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Marti and Carole! What are you all doing today! Hope your staying warm?
Only 36 here today!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I am hibernating LK. Waiting for the much talked about snow. I think it may miss us this time. Making cards and reorganizing my work area. Just took a lunch break.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just barely 32 here and spitting snow now and then. Most is off the roads though and that's good. The temps are supposed to plummet to the teens again ... which means black ice. :( I stay home when that happens ... too many accidents around here. I try to stay home when the weather is bad anyway. I have AWD on my car, but I don't know how the others are driving. People here can't drive in the snow and ice. Even a little bit. After all, it's the Sunny South. LOL.

I'm entertaining myself here in the family room spending time online and watching birds ... trying to take some pics but my photography skills are sorely lacking. We have a small Pelonis ceramic disc heater in this room and in the master bedroom ... they work like a champ at keeping things warm ... if the power stays on. ;-)

What are you doing down there in Texas?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Waiting for that pot roast to get done for dinner! It is beginning to make the house smell really good!
Other than that, just sitting here playing games on facebook, and watching all the threads here!

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

sitting here trying to get my seed stash sorted out :) & Listed .
snowing her they say 2-3 inches here I think .
i have to go out & Marinade my chicken & Daddy wants a pie so you all stay warm
susie

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

You're a good daughter, Susie. ^_^

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

What kind of pie Susie?? Warm pie sounds good right now.

Finishing up for the afternoon. Just waiting on the hubster to get home so we can have our afternoon cuppa before I start dinner.

A few flakes flying around out there, but no big deal. It is cold though. My business partner keeps calling me to tell me about all the work he has lined up for the Spring. I guess he didn't get the memo that I want to retire. :( As long he doesn't insist on dragging me out there in March in the frozen mud we will be OK.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What business are you in Neener? Besides your card making?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Hi, its lite snowing here and cold. We are on our way out to a meeting and dinner with my sisters WICCAN friends. I take a book along to read while they have their meeting. It's not my cup of tea, but sissy doesn't drive so I have to go along and drive.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Faye says hello to everyone and sends her love. She has not had a chance to pick up her computer, the least of her worries now since her husband is seriously ill with pneumonia. Please keep these special folks in your T's and P's.

Never made it out of the 20's here today and it's sleeting again on top of last night's dusting of snow. Everybody stay warm and enjoy that pot roast, LK. We finished ours last night. I've been cooking ahead and freezing meals so it won't be such an ordeal when my SIL visits next week.

LK I have a landscaping business with an elderly friend of mine. He is 76 and acts like the energizer bunny. I, on the other hand am ready to give my bones a rest from the heavy lifting. :0)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, you stay busy! Lots of hard work!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yah, I'm impressed!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

LK I wish making cards was a business. It would be nice to get back some of the mucho money I have invested in supplies and stamps and paper etc. But they are just a fun thing I do to give people a smile and a hug from afar.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Tell Faye we send lots of hugs and prayers hear way!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just like quilting! Expensive hobby, but would not give it up for nothing!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Wow, hot cocoa, pie, yummy dinners and great talent all in the same room. It is so cold and icy here, work was hard. Much love to Faye and her hubby, plz let her know. I agree with carole, susie. you are a good daughter, so is Linda. I miss my folks.

Brrr!!! LOL College girl ordered me a "lap Quilt" from a lady on her facebook that makes quilts and sells them. It is really pretty, and I use it on my half of the bed. I wish I had the inclination to sew. been sorting seeds and packing them up when sitting with joe in the living room. can't stand to sit and watch tv, I just fall asleep.
My cherry tomatoes are up! Whoo Hoo! LOL That old curio is perfect for holding seed cups,
but I hafta figure the lighting out somehow.

Deb isn't it a little early for the tomatoes?? If I did that they'd be 6 feet tall and falling over by Spring. Last summer taught me that I can grow from seed. I just need to plant it outside and not try to start it inside. The only thing I ever got going from seed that was truly good inside were impatiens. May have to try that again this year. I have plenty of room on the light carts.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Debra, I have been wondering where you were? Those tomatoes are looking good! Do you pinch them back to make bushier plants?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I figure I can get them good and going, transfer to bigger cups and keep them in the light of one of the basement windows a few hours a day until they harden off. I just came up from that freezer room and found a huge crumble in the foundation by the window behind a sheet I had put up about ten years ago to cover the rust stains from a previous leak. I can not believe how much work needs to be done to the foundation of this house. We spent our upstairs re-do money the first year we lived here on the first two walls down there. Anyway, there is enough cold air coming in that after they get bigger, I just put them up there and they harden off, get bigger and then I move them to the garden. That is how I got so many tomato plants early last year, then I also scattered seeds and had more tomatoes going. I had tomatoes all the way till November here. I shoved an old moving pad into the hole under the easement of the house foundation in that area, so that should help a bit until convince Joe that we definitely are falling in so to speak, on the south and west side of the house. The east and north and part of the south wall have I-beams up from where we first found the damage 19 years ago which resulted in an unfinished basement. Had we known our finished basement had cracks in the walls that were covered up with two by fours, cement nails , paneling and crowned out at the top and bottom, we would not have bought this house.
He wants it paid off before we fix it up, and I don't think the next two years are going to get us there as far as the soundness. I am very worried we will wake up to a rumbling sliding cave in one of these mornings. God help Us. I keep praying he will see my point. Anyway, since he doesn't care about fixing the basement up, I just use it for the gardens in the winter. This is a picture from last spring of the window well on that wall out back. I guess we will be arguing about this soon. You can't see any cracks, because the soil level is actually up to the bottom of the cedar that covers the house.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How about a glass of Bailey's? That will help you relax too!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I hope everything is okay with Joyce's mom after her fall.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, a few years ago, it had been raining really hard, and our living room ceiling had developed a few leaks. Well hubby was content with just putting a few bowls around to catch the water! Well, a few weeks later it really rained and all of a sudden our ceiling just came crashing down, and really made a mess of everything, so we had to not only fix the ceiling, but had to put on a new roof as well! Men can be so stubborn!

What is it with them. I have the very same problem. We have needed a new roof on the screened in porch for a few years now. If it isn't fixed soon, there will be more damage that just the roof. Same thing with the gutters. I can never get the gutters cleaned out and it never seems to be a priority with him. So last winter when we had all the snow we ended up with an ice dam and leak in the foyer. Now I have a stained ceiling to fix and a drywall seam that needs redoing. These are all things I normally take care of, but you know an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This house would have fallen down around our ears years ago if I wasn't forced to be a handyman. I don't mind so much except the getting older part is starting to be a problem strengthwise etc. ARGH!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

with my man it is all about the money.
I sure hope Joyce's Mom is okay too. gosh. Okay time to go put on three layers of clothing to go to work in it is 11 out right now. Coffee is on!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

She's been kinda quiet lately so I've been wondering. Think I'll Dmail her.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Debra, is there any chance your homeowner's policy will cover the repairs, or at least a portion of them? If not, a second mortgage would be a lot less painful in the pocket now than n the long run. You have both worked too hard and too long to watch your home crumble and basically be worth zilch.

First and last time I wrote a "honey do" list was right after we were married. It was multiple pages...lol...chalk that up to my overly enthusiastic attitude. I've learned over the years to only ask for one accomplishment at a time and stay on his tushy like a June Bug on a fly . The last thing I asked for weeks ago that still needs to be done is run a cable TV line upstairs and split it between our spare bedroom and the kitchen. I can do a lot of things but an electrician I'm not. Can you tell I'm still chasing flies?

On somewhat of a brighter note, Faye asked me today to thank each of you for keeping her hubby in your T's & P's. He's doing a little bit better breathing and talking, but is still seriously ill.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Fruity, when he sees the basement wall on the west, and he will this weekend, he is gonna freak. Insurance won't cover maintence items. If the house were to catch fire, or get blown away by a tornadoe, it would cover it.. but lets hope neither of those things happen for now. My plants are down there being very happy!

Glad Fayes hubby is doing better. Where is Joyce? Okay I am worried alot now. I am gonna call her tommorrow.
Neener, here is a big HUG for you.. You know why..
