Coffee Break #51 - First 2011 Edition

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Good to see you posting, Victor. Sleep well tonight.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh man, sorry to hear that...at that age if you're starting a new workout routine it is recommended you see your dr before you begin, too bad they didn't catch it

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sorry to hear that Deb, thats so sad.
I've been reading about symptoms on women can vary and be much more subtle and not your run of the 'usual' heart attacks signs.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Terrible news Debi... so sorry to hear it

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is terrible deb!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

thanks everyone

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, that is sad news. We women really need to be in tune with our bodies.

How are you feeling this morning, Victor?

East Bridgewater, MA

Victor is probably "watching" a TV that's turned off.

He's staring at a blank, dark screen, and laughing deleriously.

(He was given prescription pain meds...say no more.)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey all. First - how awful, Deb. I cannot seem to escape bad news lately. In particular, I keep heating about young people dying. So tragic and sad, especially with kids involved. Prayers go out to the family.

I slept late since I hardly slept the night before. Definitely hurting more this AM. Just popped a pill so hopefully that will help. These pills don't send me into lala land like they for some. They just help wth the pain.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

good to hear from you Victor, hopefully you're pain free soon

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Glad to see you posting, Victor.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, ladies.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

second day is always worse when the med's after surgery wear off - as my wife says - stay ahead of the pain - i did not and got no tlc for my moans

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's the advice they gave me, Bill. All my pain is in the lower quad from the release, not in the knee proper.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

When I had surgery a couple years ago the nurse actually told my husband to wake me up every 4 hours to give me a pill. After she left, I told him not to do that.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Deb, nurses have the rep of being the worst patients - even worse than docs!!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

well they do make me loopy and nauseous so I took very few

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Codeine makes me nauseous.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I must go here next time I'm in the area! http://www.odditycentral.com/pics/nonseum-a-museum-for-inventions-that-nobody-needs.html

Louise, I saw that movie Hoot. It was a good one. The same author wrote Holes, also made into a movie that turned out very good. That owl is cute.

Victor, I've always love that Gardener's Diary show. I have not seen it in a long time. I don't even know when it's on anymore.

Jan, best wishes for the coming grandbaby.

Ronnie, how awful to hear about your son's friend's death. My condolences to everyone affected. So sad! Sad about your neighbor's wife, too, Victor. No one should die young. Wow, and Debi, your husband's friend's wife, too? Terrible news on here lately. So sorry to hear it.

Victor, glad to hear your surgery went well. Hopefully you won't suffer from much pain and your recovery will be speedy.

Awful news, Debi.....sometimes folks don't have any symptoms, sometimes they ignore them....I guess I just am as bad as the rest......

Where do I put the bathroom thats getting an overhaul, paper or plastic or entertainment?

Long story buy funny. Been 3 weeks now. The counter is coming out "I think". In the upper left corner there was a stupid hot tub - duh. That thing got ripped out and the motor went to the pool. There was a shower to the right you cant see and now there is a closet. The shower was called the 9 shower where we could all fit in - NOT. I could not even get in there and turn without hitting my elbows and I am not that big of a person.

One thing lead to the other to the other to the other. The "men" had everything under controll untill I said " the drain is wrong, the directions said 12 inches" They said you measured from the corner not from side to side - duh I was wrong. I kept asking questions and a neighbor came over and said Women they nag, nibie, nibie, nibie.

My face got red (even though I was somewhat laughing) That night went to Home Depot and I looked at the shower agian and said to myself "something aint right". Got home and looked. I then said to my dear Jim " something is not right with that shower" oh no, no he said it going to be right".

I got out the tape measure again and went into detail. I came back out and said - "its not right your going to end up drilling the shower on the joint and its going to be screwed up, your going to have to drill on a seam and its not going to be right - I will show you". Well after telling the men for 3 days something was wrong, guess what? Sherrie was right.

They had to pull the wall out and redo the plumbing. WHAT??? I am woman, why didnt they listen to me in the 1st place that Something was wrong?

So now since it was supposed to be done this weekend its not going to happen as I am the Painter. Its going to take 2 days to paint it right. Here goes another weekend.

Good for you, Sherrie, to persevere like that! It's going to be beautiful when you finish.....what color paint? I had paint chips for 2 years, finally chose 2 colors, & when I finished painting, I hated it....after 2 years of trying to choose just right! Well, guess what....it's staying, whether I like it or not!

Thanks Robin, You would of went over the edge if you were me, well maybe.
The color is going to be Kansas Grain. Hubby thinks it a tad too dark. I say when everything is in and laid it will all blend and be - Warm.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Funny men never listen till it's too late.
Gonna look great.
Grain??? is that like a dark wheat color?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Debi, I have to admit, if I thought I was suffering from indigestion, I would ignore it, too, cause that's not uncommon for me. I don't go to the doc for every little symptom unless it's something that persists for awhile. Depends on what it is and how severe.

Great story, Sherrie. Too bad it took them so long to figure it out and couldn't listen to the voice of reason in the first place. I won't make any cracks about men. Women can be just as stubborn.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Good to see you posting Victor...listen to the docs and stay on top of that pain and don't "over" do it!

Good call Sherrie! Bathroom is looking good!

I am having an open MRI tonight...curious to see how much different it is than the regular one.

South Hamilton, MA

Hope that you are feeling better tonight, Victor. Sometimes I think that nerve ends know when it is nightime & hurt worse.

Many men don't listen to women & suffer because of it. No brownie points from the boss who wants the guys to get on with the next job.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope it's better tonight because it hurts pretty good right now. And I have a pretty high tolerance for pain (married a long time ^_^)

South Hamilton, MA

Mrs. Victor must tolerate it as well. Good luck with it & remember the pain will be of shorter duration than the old knee business was.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True - thanks, Lucy.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Hope your pain gets better soon, Victor.

I have been to white sands, NM but of course nowhere near an ocean. Picture of the dunes & the water quite different.

Love the ocean.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - hope you have a good night tonight and that the pain is a thing of the past very soon!

Ronnie - good luck with your open MRI....hope it's nothing serious!

Sherrie - your bathroom is going to look great! Glad you didn't let them chase you away!! LOL Good for you!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Louise.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

My sister Dawn just recently brought our sister Hope to White Sands. Amazing place! One of these days I want to go.

Oh, what, Victor, and I don't get thanked? Sheeeeesh! Must be high on painkillers. ;-)

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sorry, Karen!! Thanks. Thanks.

I almost put this is the Entertainment thread as I was entertained! Can't believe she wants to sue because no one helped her!! As far as i can tell it was her own darn fault and no one was watching to see it and come to her rescue!!!!
