♥♥ Sweet Interruptions ♥♥ 208

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

LK, it won't even start here until tomorrow. We may be lucky and it will be East of us and only get about an inch. Fingers crosssed.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

(((((((((((Sistah Judy))))))))))))))))))
Sure looking forward to August! Don't get too stressed now, you've been preparing since last August!!
Hope Liz bring some of those delicious lemons with her. If she's flying in, all she needs to pack is one outfit and fill up her suitcase with lemons! Lol.. be so good to see her :D

Pegi, LK just send sunny thoughts our way.
At least this area is not as mountainous as Neener's. I don't think I want to tackle treachorous icy mountains.
Was hoping for an inch too Neener... and it's still falling...

Kel's been home, and like a bored teenager, all he does is flip channels and veg on the couch! He had breakfast.. luncheon meat sandwich for pre lunch.. lunch; heated left over meat stew.. vienna sausages for post lunch.. waiting on pork chops for dinner in a few
minutes.. sigh.. it will not end there. The bored feast will continue..
I am sure he'll be heating up hot wings and have slices of apple pie for the BCS game...

Any of you watching the game? I'm normally for an SEC team, but I'll be rooting for Oregon. If Auburn wins.. the win is likely to be vacated after a year. :(

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No game here. We are watching American pickers!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, that's Kel's fav. show, but he's happy he watched the ball game as the BCS championship crystal is won by an SEC team again.
The Ducks did very well and I'm afraid LSU will be trampled all over by them when they meet them for the first game next season :(

Snow stopped and it's raining. We're getting truly mixed weather aren't we?

Well good night sistah. Be back in the morning! Love and Hugs!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I love the American Pickers too, I would excel in that business! LOL I like to watch "The Pawn Stars" too.

It was a very nice warm sunny day. I'm hoping we don't see any more rain for a long time. Talked to my sister in Minnesota and they have been snowed in a few times. She said I should be there, but I don't think so right now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning ladies! You guys are up late!
Hope your team won Jaye?

How about some scrambled eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast? Of course there is hot coffee too!
Stay warm!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Waiting for the snow to reach here later today. The weathermen are predicting 10-18" where I am!!!!
Going to run all the errands this morning and then snuggle in.....

Glenview, IL

Good morning!

Sistah Jaye...Been thinking about you. So sweet, julia got on a baking frenzy. I was so smiling that she was wearing the beautiful apron you made her! She loves it, me too. My friend came before Christmas and we made cookies too, We each wore and apron!
Here's a pic that was taken for you! Notice our cute Hats?
So, did your team win? LOL, we are going to be playing the big rival here...GBP, this should make for alot of phone calls with the family, lol words are gonna fly!

OMG, how funny! No wonder it's been a bit quiet, everybody watching the same shows!! We've been watching Both the Pawn shop and American pickers too. Some very Cool items. Awe, I felt so bad for that one guy on the pawn shop, when the owner put him down for buying those old people manakin dolls. Phooy didn't even apologize to him when he found out it was the Dad!

OMG, Jay when does the new Runway come on? Should be soon!
So whats everyone doing today?

Barb glad you will be back and snuggly warm before the snow hits...Wow, your finally getting snow.

Well, I am going to shovel a path to my car...It'll be nice to get out of house for a bit.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb, that is a lot of snow, be careful while your out!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Snow isn't coming until tonight Linda so we were good to go today. Just got home and all is well. We will snuggle in and just watch out the windows!!!!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Snow starting to fall her now and looking at 4-5" in next two days. Good sewing weather and that is what I plan on doing. I've been lazy the past week and did nothing but play on the computer and read books. I'm supposed to go to Lansing over the weekend but we will see that the weather brings.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Just be careful Janice what ever you do!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Marion, any word on your Mom? How is she doing today? How is her arm healing?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Day all!!

Happy that LK fixed breakfast for us!! Thanks LK!

Oooh Pegi, wouldn't you just love to be on one of their picking trips? I'd have fun looking for antique gardening implements.
They're on FB too, the American Pickers and do interact with their fans.

Now you all should also like Storage Auction Wars. It's better than Pawn Stars. I used to like Pawn Stars, but they truly 'rip' off the customers.
Whereas Storage Auction Wars, the buyers just bid on the seized storages and you'd be surprised some of the gems they found in there.

Sistah Judy!!! Where's the pic? Did you put on the apron backwards?
Lol.. only sistah I have that makes sure her cigarettes are protected and not her clothing when cooking!!!
No Sis, my 'team' didn't win, but they were awesome.

Echoing Maid M here. Please be careful Barb and Janice with all that snow. Hope you have continous electricity and water.
Stay warm...

Maid M., did you watch the game last night?
My team for last night was the Oregon Ducks. I've told Sis Kathy that I'll stick to the SEC conference, but I somehow cannot fathom closing an eye to the trickeries of the Auburn team.
But Kel still supported Auburn (SEC), so at least one happy person in this house. If you should see him at Sistah Judy's.. no lemon drops for him, okay :D

No snow today!!! Yippeee.. six inches was enough yesterday. Rained for a little while then stopped... enough to ice up everything!!!
I forgot completely about the doctor's appt. yesterday, but it's a good thing I didn't go as the office was closed!! So.. had to reschedule.
Doctor's fees went up 25% for 2011. Can I change the birth date on my birth certificate?

BBL

Glenview, IL

oops, sorry, got side tracked when i was looking for picture!

Bummer your team didn't win, yay for Big Bruddah's team...

LOL, no wore the apron properly, and ONLY because I was working with flour, I am not a very neat baker especially with a blender, we should have used the helmets with face shield...
My friends name is Judy...She is Bailey's grandma, (Bailey is who I made the Curious George blanket for)
I told her all about the Sistahs and DG. We were going to try and get together a couple of times a month to work crafts.
We worked on the stockings and then had the baking day, it was sooo much fun.

Well, had a busy morning shoveling too. lol Was going to just do a path but it was light so ended doing the drive and front walk too.
Normally, we wait for it to stop snowing, but it was good to get out side and do something more physical.
Sigh and then the plow came by and I had to redo the street side, geesh.
everyone traveling in nasty weather please be careful.

Hi Janice, good to see you post. Yeppers sure is a good day to stay in and sew. I should really get some sewing going. Maybe I could start something this evening.

I have been on Ghost Whisperer marathon. Just caught it by chance and decided I really like the show...

yes indeed thanks for breakfast Linda Kay...Had an English muffin too.

got to run for a minute, see you later!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Awwww.. you look so happy, sistah!!! Hi Judy... Bailey's G-Mama!!
Like Cookie said, it's always wonderful to have an all girls' day.
You should have 'borrowed' Steve's helmet Judy!!! What damage can it get except for flour which can be easily cleaned! Lol!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I watched part of the game Jaye, got sleepy and went to bed. Those socks!!!! Who ever designed that uniform must have been on "quack" for sure.

LK, funny you should ask about Mom's arm. My sister called to tell me the wound doctor was in and they had to cut the skin off the wound to clean it--trying to prevent infection. Apparently it is very large and I can't even begin to repeat what my sister had to say about the whole incident. Then to make matters worse, the same CNA was putting her into the wheelchair today and hit her leg making another nasty wound. Probably a good thing I am not down there yet as the 2 of us might have starting using words he wasn't familiar with--will be I bet when Sue finishes with him. This is completely uncall for the way they handle her--extremely rough!!! She also has a bad area on the top of one of her toes that the doctor had x-rayed. Not sure what is going on there. I did talk with Mom, her voice was strong, but weak and she told me under NO circumstances was I to come down until I was over this infection. Still telling us what to do.

Cookie, thinking of you dear Sistah! Sending love and prayers your way and so wishing I could make the load a little lighter for you all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, you need to go to the head nurse, and file a complaint against that person that is manhandling her! That is not called for in any nursing home, hospital... Tell them that if it happens again, there will be a law suit!
I would be so angry too! Give them a few words for me!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh LK, I can't tell you how many times we have filed complaints--not just with head nurse but with the administration. We are thinking about going to the agency that covers this with the state now. You are right but unfortunately, very few of the people who are in the wing Mom is in ever ever have family come see them much less other visitors. Most, no all with the exception of Mom have dementia and they couldn't complain to family nor even know who was responsible. This has been such a sad eye opener for us.

Mom is capable of telling us what has happened and who was taking care of her. There isn't any point in trying to move her as the others are pretty much the same. Port Charlotte is a elderly retirement community and nursing homes are a dime a dozen. It is almost like they know if one leaves, there are more waiting to get in their place. Sad state we as a society have arrived at regarding our elders.
My soapbox ladies, not meaning to step on any ones toes but it is my thoughts.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my Lord, Marion. That's a horrendous situation. Your poor Mum!!
Take pictures of her bruises and threaten them if you must. You're right about the callousness of professional caregivers.
It's happening here too. If you don't have family to check in on you, you're at the mercy of the nursing home.

Sending prayers for all, tonight. Bless you all that's going through situations, have faith in Him. We'll have that rainbow after the rain.

Good night.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Everything is being document Jaye with a notebook and pictures.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hello all my sistahs - sorry I've been MIA (work & church y'know......)

The 23rd is National Pie Day, and I'm gonna make some Pie Suckers (tiny pies on sucker sticks). Kewl, eh? Gonna take 'em to work for National Pie Day. That'll surprise 'em!!
Here's the Pie Song from "Michael"
"Pie, pie, me oh my, nothing tastes sweet wet salty and dry
All at once as well as pie, apple, pumpkin, mince, and black bottom,
I'll come to your place every day if you got 'em
Pie, me oh my, I love pie."

Love & hugs to all in need......... sorry, but I can't catch up, and I'm heading off to sleep - it's late...
Love you, my sistahs!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning, morning, morning....
Hope everyone slept well. Supposedly to be a tad warmer today here, hmm.. at least it won't be snowing! Yippee.
So far no more charley horses in the middle of the night. Quinine works.

Sistah Cookie, how are you, Sunshine? Yours and Maid M's routines are now compromised for good reasons.
Don't worry too much about tomorrow for matters you can't control. Leave them with our Lord.

Susan, it's good to read on the 'other' page that Bob's at work now.
You got me curious.... take a pic of pies on a stick. Would the filling stay?? Unless they're mincemeat pies.
Any new news on your house?

Barb, how bad is the snow there? I'm sure you're well stocked up on food and hot chocolate till the snow is over.
Knowing that you love to quilt, I can't imagine you being bored indoors..glued to the telly. Will Norm get restless?

Crissy, any news on your new car, yet?

Pegi, will you be sowing anything at all this year? Or your garden doesn't have the space?

Sue, I got the box, thank you. I didn't open it as I think there might be a busted bag. DM me if you have Paypal. Will reimburse postage.
If you all need more sustenance than o.j this morning, I'm afraid I have nothing in the fridge. Got to get out for groceries :D Hope sistah LK helps out.
Don't feel like getting out though, still icy .... might just have Ramen noodles today.
I know, Neener.. the sodium!! Arrrgggghhhh... maybe I'll just add some canned spinach for variation... more sodium :D

Someone please motivate me to get some chores done :D

Twyla, if you're lurking, hope all is well with you.

Have a good day sistahs. God loves ya!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! I have hot cinnamon rolls and fresh hot coffee for everyone!

Jaye, just stick to the 15 minute rule, and you will get things done! A little bit at a time!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Jaye I need to come cook for you for a week. I guarantee you would feel better and your blood sugar would stabilize.

This morning I am having cracked grain cereal (brown rice, barley, farro and red rice) with chopped dates and cashews. A drizzle of maple syrup. All whole grains and natural sweeteners. Lots of fiber and good carbs.

I think I should open a healthy spa type bed and breakfast and anyone that wants to come for a week could visit and eat the right stuff. I could save lives. :)))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Neener that sounds like a great plan! Bet you would stay busy all the time!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

It would fun too LK. The sewing sistahs could teach me a thing or two or three and maybe I could show them some painting or ceramic work. Gee when can I start? LOL!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sign me up Neener.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my... you could start a 'cyber' spa!! Plan the menus online and even teach, Neener!!! But nothing like in the flesh group class.

As for natural sweeteners. They even spiked up my blood sugar. Of course.. when taken too much!! Lolol!
Neener, I'm serious about you sharing your recipes. Thank God, there is a health food store closeby.

Us sistahs can use some healthy living!!

LK, I have returned to the 15' instead of 30' now. My back hasn't been co-operating. Just today, I feel like goofing off! Shame on me.

Hey Maid M. Our "Mad Hatter".. Les Miles decided to stay and not take up that Michigan offer. I told those boys on a Tiger's blog that if Mama's happy in BR... he better not move her!!! Lolol!!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Marion you can come anytime and we'll do ladybugs together. :))

I could share some recipes I suppose, but there is so much more to it than that. I haven't had butter in the house for 2 years now. Make my own bacon. Make my own bread most of the time. The only refined sugar that I have is used to make hummingbird food. The only white flour is for bird suet. I have one whole extra refrigerator dedicated to grains, seeds, rice and different kinds of flours. So see there is really a lot more to it than meets the eye. But hey, my DH lost 76 pounds and has kept it off for almost a year now. The Dr. is convinced that I kept him from being diabetic.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Here's an easy one. I've been doing these for a sweet treat/ energy bar. They are very similar to the Larabars that you can buy.

1 c walnuts or almonds
1 and 1/3 cups pitted dates
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 T ground flaxseed

Process in a food processor and roll out into a square about 1 inch thick. Wrap and refrigerate until firm and then cut into 4 bars for a meal size, or 8 for snack size.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Jaye you asked about the snow???
This was at 6 AM
And the next photo is at 1:30 PM

And it's still snowing!!!!!

No new car and my internet has been out at home, the satellite was covered with something white

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Barb, that's too much snow for me!!!!!! Hope all the birds have gone south!
May the snow stop soon and may all the required convenience for a snowed in life for the both of you be uninterrupted.

Crissy, are the horses yours? What does Tiga think of the snow?
You took some very nice pictures.

Neener, I appreciate the recipe. It's doable, and I'll get the ingredients this weekend.
Aeons ago, back in La., I went on a Sugar Buster Diet (didn't touch anything that's white or corn in that diet) when first diagnosed with diabetes. Walked daily for at least 5 miles. Lost 35 pounds. Oral meds for me then.
Fell off the track when I had emotional issues and years later.. this is where I'm at now. Need to lose 50 lbs.
I've had the experience and knowledge to beat it again, but all I do is offer excuses. Like no matter what I do, the insulin caused weight gain....And it's bad when Kel's an enabler. No matter how many times I started.. I go right back to the bad routine.
I can give up red meat, (done that) stick to veges, tofu, tempeh and grains (done that)... but here comes the bigger excuse.... Wickedly weak will power..

It doesn't help when Kel's a food addict.

Arrrghhh.. right now I have beef stew cooking on the stove and the meat isn't lean. The fat gives a good flavor (excuse). This will be served over potatoes for Kel, and for me it will be over brown rice.

Pray for me sistahs!!

You ladies are getting lots of snow!
Crissy, love all the pictures, but that snoman is cute!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, sending prayers that you have the will power to get through this, and start eating healthier!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh MY, Barb....I thought we got a lot and we only got about 5 inches!

Jaye, and Marion, thank you both so much for keeping me in those hugs and thoughts (prayers, too) I am also keeping both of you (and all you other sistahs) close the same way.....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

The horses belong to Mr. Teague but we feed them carrots and apples now and then LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cookie! How are you doing? Hope your not getting snowed in too bad?
