Heads up for heavy snowfall.
Before went away to Florda for 2 weeks I covered about 10 of my smaller, more tender rhododendrons with a soft felt like bag that advertised that such protection would give a few more degrees of hardiness to the plants.-Of course I came home to 2 ' of snow and the plants that I thought I was protecting were bent to the ground with the heavy snow on top of the protective cloth. Now I am in danger of losing many branches, and perhaps entire plants. I would have been better off without any extra protection.
i just went through the burpee cata. too celeste - i compare prices to other sources to -territorial seed is today lunch project
I am afraid to look at seed catalogs this year. I have done such a poor job recently of sowing seeds and getting anything worth growing that I am not sure I am even going to try this year. Plus I have a lot of unused seeds from last year. Bad seed mom. Patti
only veggy seeds here to otder patti - i have started winter sowing flowers (and drinking more milk to get empty containers) with those seeds we each took advantage of with mamajack from the nice lady in netherlands i think - plus seeds from the ru here. did not plan to have 30 milk jugs lined up outside again :)
Sorry about the rhodos Arfitz.....mine always get buried, but they do OK.....Pixie, I love the Purple Love Grass! Bill, the milk is good for your bones.....will help you move more rocks!
I was going to empty my wallet on Bartzella, but then I saw this one...
http://www.songsparrow.com/images-plants-2009/highres/5ITOHIL.jpg
Of course, I think they would complement each other very nicely, but I didn't win the lottery.
that is nice. i read about another hybrid yellow similiar to bartzella that was not as expensive - can't remember where i saw it.
That's GORGEOUS, Weeze.
I'm not ordering anything yet cause (believe it or not) I haven't planned any new gardens or extensions until I do all the hardscape on the side of our house.
That's a beauty, Louise. Too many people around here have Bartzella so your selection is really different and very lovely.
I have Bart, but that would look stunning beside it!!
Two or three catalogs a day and all these interesting ideas here, not helping me not buy more stuff. So far I am holding on only because I ordered so much early. Love that peony too. Hoping my Bart will get a bloom this year but it is new so maybe have to wait another year.
I think my Bart is to young to bloom yet also, this will be the second summer with it so will have to wait and see.
What an awesome color on that peony.....and I have just the spot for it!
Anyone have a good resource for fairy garden plants?

Placed another conifer order today with song sparrow
Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Ellie B.'
Picea abies 'Perry's Gold'
Picea orientalis 'Tom Thumb'
Picea pungens Gebelle's Golden SpringŪ PP
Thought you were done!!
Oh right...done like me, right Bill?
excuse me - i should have been more specific - done with jm orders - i count 13 of them ordered for this spring. up to 32 conifers and "probably" done with them as well. there are 3 or 4 more that are possible.
celeste did you look at the pinetree seed catalog - great prices - will be ordering most of my veggy seeds from them
Might have to lend you the magic shoe horn.
Bill has plenty of room.. if he wants to loose some of his precious grass
I am looking at Avant today too. I like them and their plants. Patti
Avant a lotta things I can't have.
Victor, Too funny. I am thinking about a Miss Honeybee which is too big too, but avant it too. Patti
Should get it as the honeybees are in danger!
I ordered from Avant last year and was really pleased. Great plants and good service.
Ordered from them a number of times over the years going back to the mid-90's. Very good company.
I agree....Allison, that's a good price for the Blackberry Punch....Bill, are all those conifers dwarves? Bill, I also order from Pinetree....the packets don't contain a whole lot of seeds, but that's great for me....who wants 10 zucchini plants?
exactly marilyn - i have too many seed pkgs from past years that barely germinate anymore - and the per seed cost is still better in most cases.
