Congrats Huskies!
Walker graduated from a great Catholic HS in Harlem that my brother went to - Rice. In danger of closing.
Sports Talk!! Part 6
Oh, sorry to hear that! Some great players have come from that school! WooHoo! What a ride for the Huskies....very emotional for me, since DH was a big fan, & we used to cheer & complain together.....hope he saw it in heaven.....
Butler shooting was dreadful, clank, clank, clank. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday about shooting % has dropped since finals were being played in the large areas rather than basketball field houses. Supposedly caused by the backgrounds being different. Certainly seems that way in this case. Until the end of the 2nd half, UCONN's % was not that great either.
Watching Butler play last night was like watching 6th graders take on the high school varsity team. They played about 75% of the game before getting a single point in the paint. It was by far the ugliest-played championship basketball game I've ever watched.
i'm glad uconn won - just wish it was the women's team and not the mens.
Yes, it was a pitiful game.
When I saw the baskets, I knew Uconn was going to have trouble shooting the long ball.....the announcers mentioned if you're not used to playing in a dome, you will have problems! Uconn's defense was pretty good, don't take that away from them.....I've watched every game they've played this year, & they showed a lot of intensity in the 2nd half....probably nervous in the 1st half...many freshmen! And Bill, I mentioned at the start of the girls' season that they probably wouldn't win....not deep enough, & that it would actually be good for the game if they didn't win!
One team winning all the time in any sport is not good for the sport in general. Look at the Yankees & the wide spread dislike for them. this has been over the years since the 1920s.
True, Lucy.
Sox are 0-4. Ouch!
Mets are 3-1....yay!
season is long so calm down both of you,
Please allow us to enjoy the moment!
I read on The Globe that no baseball team that started the seaon 0-4 has ever made it to the World Series. Is it too late for Sox fans to panic?
No, you're good. ^_^
records are made to be broken - go dice K.
DH is happy , he's an Indians fan. DS is a Sox fan.
How often has a team been 0-3 in the WS and won it?
Only once?
I don't know, that's why I was asking.
Mets are looking more like the Mets now. But at least they're not 0-6. ^_^
No team has ever been down 0-3 in the World Series and then gone on to win it. In 2004, the Red Sox were the first baseball team to be down 0-3 in a playoff series and still go on to win it though.
LOL....Phillies are tough, esp in their own stadium...glad the game wasn't close, got some yardwork done...just wish the Mets had scored the 11 runs!
Thanks GS, I knew I remembered something!
that is right gsox - gotta have faith!
Rangers eliminated today. Knicks soon to be. Not much hope for the Mets. Welcome to my sports team life!!
I'm there with the Mets.....won today, I'm surprised....
Brit boxer, Henry Cooper, who knocked out Ali when he was still a contender, died at 76. Very well- loved in England.
Rarely root for the Celts, but hope they come back to take the series from the Heat.
They better play more defense & not get tossed out of games. The first tech on Pierce was difficult as he had just been grabbed by his head.
Turned the Mets off one inning too early...otherwise would have seen the Phillie's fans reacting to Bin Laden....
Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros died from cancer. Only 54.
I saw that this am. Very sad.
He was a great one!
The left and center fielders are really good...may see these guys in the majors someday
Cool! Didn't know Wally moved up to Binghamton. He managed Brooklyn last year. I like him a lot. He will manage the Mets eventually.
