Coffee Break #50

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well I guess she gets to keep her foot for at least a few more years. Wonder if she will finally quit smoking now. I wouldn't bet on it. I know her too well.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Good to hear Victor

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Good news Victor!! Will continue to pray for her will power to quit.

Thomaston, CT

Liked the story, Pixie. Great news for MIL....maybe a wakeup call......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, all!

I hope so, Marilyn, but she has had wakeup calls before and has hit the snooze button each time.

Thomaston, CT

I know....my Dad had a heart attack just before his 83rd birthday......he was told what to do & refused.....gone at 84 from a massive heart attack.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Good news Victor!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Wow Bill, 20k, very cool! If I wasn't so full of admiration I'd be jealous! I'd love to do some climbing or at least some serious hiking up at high altitude at least once in my lifetime. I've never been to the Asian continent, got a friend doing a Singapore/ Hong Kong excursion now, he's taken his DW & SIL there for X-Mas and New Year's in a 2 week vacation package.
- When I used to travel to exotic places I went to the bottom of the ocean, got as far East as Figi where I reached 150 feet underwater with scuba gear. (I liked the idea of having to use life support in a hostile environment and going to the bottom of the ocean). - at least I made that dream come true.. ☺ - Next time I've promised DW & myself to spend more time above water wherever we go rather than below, the opposite direction ~ the high mountains would definitely be cool. (lol!)

- Good news Victor, best wishes for her recovery. Is she doesn't want to quit she wont, it may be best just to accept it and be at peace. An angry MIL telling you to MYOB is worse than a nest of hornets! (lol!!)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. Maybe you two can bring her to altitude!

I'm not into real mt climbing, but hiking is fine for me. Highest I've been so far is about 10K. Didn't bother me at all.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Heard a funny old quote today. 'Exercise is a dirty word. Every time I say it I want to wash my mouth out with chocolate!' Miss Piggy.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Cute!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

wc the 20K was all just hiking trails - the last 3K was just up free walk up a grass covered hill - no real climbing at all - there is more of that up at baxter state park on thier "trails"

never been scuba diving must have been cool!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Interesting, guess I'll have to train for climbing like I had to train for scuba, (and take out some extra insurance), lol! Still the view must have been well worth it none-the-less!

-Yes, scuba can be very exciting, have to keep your nerve, can't panic down there, can't get too confident either. Dove Palancar Cliff once, scary as all heck floating over the edge of an underwater cliff, - looking at a 13K foot abyss straight down. It was the strongest current I've ever encountered. I had to fight my way back over the reef and I was only about 10' over the edge. Next stop was Venezuela! lol!
- But one of the best memories I have!☺

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

DH scuba dives, me, never!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I think HollyAnn is a scuba diver too. I've never done it myself, I don't think my ears could take it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me neither - at least not really deep. Tub is fine.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ugh - more bad news. The roller-coaster with my sister continues. Now this specialist says she did see something in the last set of films. She will get a biopsy now.

We're going to see my MIL later.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

OH No Victor, good luck to your sis♥

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Will be praying for your sis

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Geez Victor, i'm so sorry but honestly can't say im surprised. This is the same rollercoaster I was talking about earlier...lets hope it's nothing! I'll keep your sis and MIL in my prayers, and will pray for a healthy New year for all!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Celeste.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Best wishes to your MIL and sister.

I echo Pixie's prayer for a healthy New Year for all.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Jan.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

hope all goes well with both victor.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

How are things going with your sister and MIL tonight, Victor? Keeping you all in my prayers!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

more thoughts and prayers to your MIL & Sister Victor... dad went though the 1st part of his ordeal .... they did the angioplast on my dads one leg.. and he thinks they put in a stent ... said they used a laser to remove the plaque.. but because of his hip the surgery was terrible... they had him lying on a hard table for 3 hours and said morphine did not do a darn thing to relieve the pain.. and trust me he is not a cry baby when it comes to pain... if he said it was that bad.. it was real bad... and they are going to wait 2 months before doing the other leg because they didn't expect this one to be as bad as it was... now just have to wait and see how it goes.. but he said he is feeling better... and seems to be in good spirits today... and is now home

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

A happy & healthy New Year to Everyone! ☺!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Allison glad to hear your dad is home and feeling a bit better♥

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Did he tell them the morphine wasn't working? He thinks(???) they put in a stent...shouldn't he know????
Glad he's feeling better

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Glad your Dad is home, Allison. We have a friend who will be going through the same surgery, I had never even heard of it before. It sounds horrible.

Prayers continue for your MIL, Victor. And your sister. But, hopefully, if they can't decide if it is cancerous or not, they must have found it early. They've sure come a long way with breast cancer treatment.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good to hear, Allison. Good luck.

MIL is doing pretty well. The operation went very well. She walked today and had a tough time. Easily fatigued. Also having difficulty getting her wind back. Not surprising since she's a smoker.

Sister has to wait until next Thursday for the biopsy.

Thanks.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Did your MIL walk much before the operation, Victor? Our friend who is having the operation is being made to walk daily. He's on pain pills, as his legs hurt so bad, but he's walking. But he never did before, obviously part of the problem.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ya know Jen.. it's the way my family is... he was happy to go home.. said he really wasn't listening to the doc when he came to visit.. and they sent my mom home early the night before since he was doped up .. and he is going to the doc again in a few days.. and yes he did tell them the morphine wasn't working... he said they gave him something else... and that didn't work either..

Polly my dad said the surgery would have been a breeze if it wasn't for his hip

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

She never exercised regularly - another problem. But she was able to walk short distances fine.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Our friend is having trouble even walking short distances. And his legs and feet are quite dark. He's only in his 40s. Very obese, heavy smoker. No diabetes. I don't think it looks good for him.

Thanks Allison, I'm glad to hear that.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like peripheral artery disease there too.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Doesn't matter whatever you do, when you get old the parts just start failing. Happens to all of us, it's like an old car..

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, that's what they have said.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - if I'm closing in on 80, I expect to be slowing down. But not before.
