Coffee Break #50

But the biggest pop increase was Texas, which has none.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, okay. Yes, Texas gets lots of revenue from oil. Alaska gets lots of revenue from oil and gold. Nevada, of course, gets plenty from gambling. I lived in that state for 17 years. Sure was nice not paying state income tax.

Good luck to all with the snow!

My MIL was brought to the hospital by my BIL this AM. In a lot of pain. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Hope the storm doesn't jeopardize that.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'll be praying all goes well with your MIL, Victor. It's rough on everyone but on your MIL most of all.

The wind is fierce here. Probably about 2" of snow but I'm not heading out to measure. We expect a lot more snow tonight.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you, pirl.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, Victor, prayers and many positive thoughts for your MIL, your wife and all of the family! Holding you all close with lots of hope!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Louise. Very tough for my wife, as she knows all that can go wrong.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, I know. I've been thinking just that, Victor. I'm sure you are helping her through this in your customary caring way! Please let her know she is in my prayers.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. Crazy thing is, even if successful, this only buys her about five years before the problem returns.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Hope all goes well Victor for you MIL and keeping your wife in my thoughts. I wouldn't mind five more years with my mom though, for some that can be a lifetime!

Cripe I think we're up to 6'' already and it's supposed to snow well into tomorow...not a happy camper here in Philly right now!!

One of our chickens was sitting on nine eggs this morning...what a surprise, I wasn't expecting any until spring. The are really small, will need about five of then for an omelet! LOL

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Ronnie, I just read Philly is getting 20" with this storm...more than me! Im told it should be somewhere between 12 - 18" here.
We have a blizzard watch in effect, power outages likely.......I just rented a few movies, hope i get to watch them!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Victor, I hope your MIL's operation is a succes and they get those 5 years extra years.
I'll keep her in my prayers and "I" too, im sure this is extremely hard for her.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Yeah we are getting slammed!! Cabin fever has already struck me down! LOL
We get pretty lucky with the power, the snow so far is a lot but doesn't appear to be that really heavy crap that will pull down the wires...keeping my fingers crossed though.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks - I didn't mean five years to live. Meant five years before the circulation is compromised again - raising the risk of amputation.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Sort of miss read that Victor...☺

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, the weather outside is frightful! And I'm glad I'm home and the power is not out. I have a friend in South Plymouth whose power has been out for at least an hour now, maybe longer. I've keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't happen here.

Thanks, Celeste. Yes, this is a hard time of year for people to have suffering of any kind.

Merry Christmas, Harper!

Kudos for your SIL's family, Jo! My Dad plays the organ at a local church. It's not a huge one, though.

Praying for you MIL, Victor.

Karen

Thomaston, CT

Karen, didn't know Dad was an organist.....very nice that he does that! Hope you keep the power....hoping we do too! Victor, really sorry for your family....I'm sure it's affecting the boys as well.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

louise tell hank - never:)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

MIL's surgery canceled today. Will happen tomorrow.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Victor, prayers and love for your MIL and strength to you and your family through this time.

We definitely got snow, but not as much as I thought. Do they ever report a gross underestimation like they grossly overestimate the amount of snow predicted?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Supple kid, Victor!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Harp.

My county got between 14 and 20 inches.

Thomaston, CT

Ours between 10 & 18.....I guess there's a foot out there....hope surgery goes well!
