Yes, I hope she had a great day!
Coffee Break #50
Got my pellets. Man, was it crazy out there! Snow was at the top of my knees. Takes a lot of effort to walk through that. And when that dang wind blew - it felt like a sandstorm.
the wind is nuts!!
Still waiting for my plow guy. Wife has to go to work tomorrow.
We lost power for a short time last night while we were sleeping. Since we were sleeping, then it was no big deal. We didn't get a lot of snow from this storm. Very cold and windy, though.
Karen
The wind is still howling here and I want it to stop before the creaking and groaning of doors starts as I try to sleep at 10 PM. It gave me a screaming nightmare last night but I didn't open the front door and run outside!
woke me up a few times last night
Our windows were singing too.
I loved it last night! I imagined myself climbing Mt. Everest with the wind howling and the snow blowing, watching my footing as I climbed up a steep ridge with a whole bunch of climbing equipt and ropes and stuff on my back, looking down at the clouds racing by below me, amongst the Himalayan mts...- Ahh, totally exhilarating! (I hope it happens 2 or 3 more times before spring!)
Wheee! ☺
you are out of control!!!
no, I went to sleep and woke up to all the snow I had to shovel...
I think he's 'experimenting' with substances.
I think I agree!!
:)
Nope, I got the formula down pat! lol!
- interestingly enough on Dec 20th of last year we had the 24" snowstorm in which my DW found a Cardinal with a broken wing. That was 6 days before this last snowstorm. - almost to the year! Weird...
WC your definitely off your rocker!
Most geniuses are on the edge.. (lol!)
LOL!
Jump!!
Yippee!
Alas, poor WC, and we thought we knew him well. The snow seems to have driven him over the edge.
My plow guy is finally here!
Yeah! I bet he was busy today.
This is a good time to be a plow guy!
Karen
Yes, they make tons of money.
And many are awake for 30 hours straight living on coffee. We had a friend who did it and he loved the money but came home weary and unable to do his regular job for days.
(... I have a vivid imagination, helps with reality! lol!!)
- we always get the drunk plow guys here, the ones who crash into the curb. Last year I could see him take a swig or two while he was plowing at 2 am. wouldn't you know the plow dude did it again this year, (different dude), shook the whole house, and my neighbors too. I ran and took a pics real fast, got the guy and the truck with the company logo. Point of impact is under compressed snow, I'll survey the damage when it melts...
- I ain't paying for that, I got the goods on the guy! ☺!
Wow. Scary.
Yeah, it's no small truck either, as big as a garbage truck!
You get 'em, WC!
Karen
WC i'll go with you next time! Been there 3 times and would love to go to the top!
was pretty windy out xcountry skiing yesterday - had to make my own trail which is always good exercise and fun.
10 this morning and the winter sun coming up over the snow driving to work today was blinding at times.
There was a :"Simpsons" episode where clutzy Homer was a plow guy.
A very fine line between fact and fiction....
Last year the plow guy stripped the water bar in front of 3 homes, mine being in the middle.....I was the only one to collect all the asphalt chunks & pile them up....called the town garage several time for pick up....no action....finally in July, my neighbor across the road loaded them into his truck & took them I-know-not-where....hopefully in front of the road super's house. The town will not replace the water bar until MAYBE next year, as our road is on the list for repairs in 2012! Meanwhile every time it rains, I lose part of my upper per. garden.....
Placing those asphalt chunks in back of his tires would have been an idea.
We just end up with strangely "edged" roads after they plow. Sort of zig zag!
Must have been an awesome sight Bill!! Did you notice any effects from the high altitude?
- Some of those plow guys don't know how to drive a plow. - It's not like at Celeste's where if you don't plow everyday you don't get out. We get a storm maybe 2-3 times a year and then it's over, maybe three or four 3-6" snowfalls and that's it. So comes December every bozo in town is driving a truck with a plow. Lots of anxious people looking for extra money for the holidays.
-Some drive themselves to exhaustion, others don't know what they're doing, -and some shouldn't be behind the wheel of any vehicle much less a truck with a plow! Mismanagement causes these types of problems.
We use the guys who care for our irrigation system spring to fall. They do a great job and they're fast. As WC said, we don't get snow that often and not much when it does snow, except for the occasional blizzard. The town workers are usually experienced but all it takes is a new guy on the job (haven't seen a female plow person yet) to misjudge the street and then there are mistakes.
It was probably a drunken driver who took out the nearby fire hydrant last week and then a large shrub on the same person's property. Jack reported it immediately to the fire department and they said they had already turned off the water. It was repaired that day.
wc i did not have problems with altitude other than a headache at night if not enough fluids. got up over 20K - every picture taken is a winner too - great clouds - you would love it.
It isn't always plow trucks.........love the 81 year old womens comment!
