Morning Judy! So glad you now have the Christmas spirit!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hello Ladies,

Hope everyone is doing good. Judy I envy you with your big family for the holidays. Ours is going to be very small. My grandson is going to Los Angelas to be with his dad's family. So it will only be me, mom, my daughter, granddaughter, SIL, and cousin Debbie. Doug will be with his family. Oh and Judy the wedding isn't that far away. Patiently waiting for my dress to arrive.

Went to the doctor today. Things are on a roll for ear implant. But I may have to have surgery on my hands. They don't do the tendon thing anymore it will be artifical. So no more bowling for me. LOL, and I am not even broken hearted about that. It's not being able to do my bead work, painting, sewing and other crafting things.

My daughter and I went shopping yesterday. OMG!!! it was pouring rain when we left, but just as we got to the turn off to the mall the sky really opened up. We could not see where we were going and almost missed the turn off. Got to the mall, found a parking place close to the door, and there was hardly any people at all. Found what we wanted left headed home, by then the traffic was bumper to bumper of people going to the mall. I told my daughter we timed it right. Missed all the madness. I think they were all waiting for the storm to move on, because when we came out of the mall the sky was clearing.

Now I need to wrap all the gifts and then I am done except for making a Lemon Meringue pie, and will do that Friday.

Happy Holidays!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cindy, glad to hear you did not get too wet! Show us your dress when it arrives please? Would love to see it!
That lemon pie sure sounds good!

Morning everyone! Hope you all got a good nights sleep! I got up at 3:00am to go potty, and stepped outside, and saw the prettiest moon eclipse ever! No camera for pictures, I just stood there and watched it for a bit!

Jaye are you in hiding again? Hope your not sick and in bed?
What is everyone up to? All done with shoppping and wrapping?
I have most of mine done, just a few dollar store things to grab for stocking stuffer, and I am done! Both of my boys will be here with family, so we will have a house full!
I am cooking a turkey and ham!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh man LK, wished I would of love to have seen the Lunar Eclipse. A guy that I know said he was out in his hot watching it. He posted a picture on a biker site that we belong too and it is RED!!!! I wnat to see my dress too, lol. It was shipped the 15th and I still have not got it yet. Maybe today. I will be babysitting Taylor today, so I am going to take her the bowling alley to crash the Christmas party, lol. There will be lots of good food, yum yum.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your day! Hope the dress comes soon!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning all! I'm here.
Been nursing a head cold for days, trying to stay away from otc meds.
I've been making pots of spiced chai tea and as long as I'm drinking that, the head and sinus cavities clear up. Loose leaf black tea, ginger, stick of cinnamon and cardamon, all boiled in a glass kettle.

LK, I love your tree. It's beautiful!!!! Bet your dad supervised!
If you've finished assembling the quilt, please post a picture here. That should be a proud display and you did a fantastic job organizing it.

Sistah Judy!!! Lolol.. tis funny you should mention the JD over the phone!! I truly take it for the sniffles, but quit lately when my blood sugar spiked too high! So.. off to the chai!
The economy is sooo bad here, that instead of angel trees, the schools and charity groups asked for outright donations. We're thinking the few dollars are divided amongst families and they decide whether it go to food or presents.

Sue.. Merry Christmas!! And to you too Mr. Sue!!! Savannah and Austin have been very good kids and they deserve more than a couple presents under the tree!! Don't know about Lucy, but she deserves at least a roasted bone :D
I used to grow okra. But I don't let them grow too long.. cut them about 4"--- longer than that, the okras would be sliced thinly and then cooked to rid the slime and later used for okra gumbo. DON'T use the woody ones.

After surgery and therapy, I'm sure you'll be able to return to your crafts, Cindy. You can still do the scores if you can't bowl!
I totally forgot about the eclipse. Too tired to stay up :(
Looking forward to seeing your wedding pictures, Cindy!

Stacey, Stacey, Stacey!!! You truly surprise me niece with the wonderful card and its' contents!!! Thank you so much!!
What a Christmas you will have, and I'm sure you'd be videotaping Jonathan's reaction to his first Christmas present.

Crissy.. where are you girl??? I know Susan's busy busy busy.
Not that you don't stay busy, Crissy, but you always managed to drop in for one or two postings.
Miss you girl.

I have not mailed out any Christmas cards this year. Bad me.
If you all guess this next.. pat yourselves on the back.
The depression has got hold of me more than I wish to admit.
No, it's not that thing called S.A.D... it's just being human and finding it very very hard NOT to succumb to feeling defeated.
If the Lord is not a forgiving one and always reminding me that I am His.. I don't know if I have the courage to post today.

But here I am.. gonna get a cup of Chai.. catch up with other threads.. and oh yah..

waving to Barb, Maid M.... Sis Kathy.. Sistah Cookie... Susan..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, better get that netty pot out, and use that too!

This is a quilt from the other room, that a bunch of us got together and created. I put it all together, and it is on the way to be given to a vet at the VA clinic in Eastern Texas as I type!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Tante-none of his gifts are wrapped and he really couldn't care less yet;)LOL He will be able to use a couple of things now, but some are made for 6mos and so on...next year will be the grand year were he first starts to get it:) Right now it is funny as he discovers different body parts and I am trying to put names with everything for him..

LK-I give him enough kisses every day for all of you here and most of the continental US;)

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Stacey and LK, Thank you for the Christmas cards. I am really bad about sending out Christmas cards. I have not done it in years. I don't even like sitting down and writting letters, lol.

Still no dress :( Need to find out where it is.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

What a cool picture! Thanks for sharing with us! Sue is right, it was very cloudy here, so we couldn't see any of it!

Sue that was pork that Jaye did in the crockpot....yum.....

I picked up my brisket for Christmas as well as a ham. Would have loved for it to be honey baked, but alas....NOT in the budget!

Ohio came through for me with 20 more weeks of unemployment. So thank you all for your prayers.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cookie, so glad the your unemployment got extended! Just in time for the Holidays too!
Try placeing pineapple rings allover the ham, before you bake it, that will add some sweetness to it! Hold them in place with toothpicks! Mom would add marachino cherries too!
Like this one!

Thumbnail by taters55
Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

No can do, LK....I'd love it, but my DIL is allergic to pineapple!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh well, it was a thought!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I personally LOVE pineapple with ham. I love it when you order it at a restaurant and it comes with a couple slices of grilled pineapple...yum, yum! ^_^

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Cindy-great pic and u r welcome!!

Cookie-as soon as I can find a darn brisket I am trying your recipe-can't wait!!

New post:

Enjoy!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Pegi!! Enjoy your day today and hope the weather clears enough for you to spend a productive day outside.

TY Cindy for sharing that picture. I fussed at Kel for having missed the whole enchilada and he said it was too cloudy anyway. He promised me that he'd find pictures of the eclipse, but nothing like seeing the real stuff.

PTL Cookie. 20 more weeks is truly a Christmas present for you, and we won't stop praying for you and your Mum.
You'll be having a full house for Christmas? What's on your menu?
Me too got to find a brisket and follow your delicious recipe.

LK, I love ham done your way with a rub of brown sugar.. criss crosed and studded with a few cloves. Been a long time since I bake one that way. Kel detest pineapples, so I just bake it plain, but lately, I've been boiling them and add beans to the pot.

Love the pictures Stacey!! 2 pairs of eyes fixed on Chris.. what did he do??
Oh my.. let's hope we won't hear you smoking that whacky tabaccy!!
And if you do, don't tell us about it. Last I heard, it's only legal in California with Rx. Lol!!!

It's a little warm today. Think I'll go outside and do my 1/2 hr. stint after visiting other sites.

Love to you all, and I'll be back.
Anyone heard from Crissy?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, there are 11 States that have it leagl with a Dr.'s script!

Last I heard from Crissy was several days ago! Sure hope she is not bogged down with too much work!

Crissy, it is time to check in please? Maybe just a peek around the corner to say hey!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow.. soon NC will legalize it I hope. It will greatly reduce the prison population and put more money in the state's treasury.

Good night everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Beakfast is ready, biscuits and gravy, and hot cocoa!

Jaye this is an article from my old hometown yesterday!

SPRING LAKE, MI.

After months of deliberation, Village Council on Monday ratified a medical marijuana ordinance on a 5-2 vote.

Council had approved a six-month moratorium on medical marijuana in June until an ordinance could be formulated.

Village President Bill Filber and councilman Ryan Kelly cast the dissenting votes.

Filber said he resented the responsibility that state legislators thrust upon local governments after voters approved the November 2008 ballot measure.

Under the state language, licensed caregivers can dispense the drug to up to five registered patients.

Under the village ordinance, licensed caregivers are prohibited from dispensing the drug at their homes to anyone other than a family member.

The language allows licensed caregivers to travel to their patients' homes for dispersal.

Caregivers can operate only out of their homes and not out of village storefronts.

"We're trying to find a way to be sensitive to what the patients need while at the same time trying to protect the community," said Village Community Services Director Kathy Staton. "This will probably work better in the long run because a lot of these patients are very ill and it may be better for them if the caregiver goes to the patient."

The ordinance also prohibits dispensaries, cooperatives and compassion clubs.

"This will keep it as small, private operations in residential districts," Staton said. "No one should even know it's going on."

Filber said he's pleased with the thorough effort village staff and planning commissioners put into formulating a local ordinance.

"We were given a blank sheet of paper and asked to create our own ordinance," Filber said. "I think our legislators in Lansing really dropped the ball. They're looking at changes as we speak. If that happens, we may have to rewrite this in the future."

good morning everyone
Savannah is busy drawing christmas pictures and taping them all over the house
Austin is busy with his games
I m busy drinking christmas coffee LOL
Tim is out wrapping presents at his moms
not much else
stay warm everyone

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'll take the biscuits LK! Thanks, they'll go so goooood with my hot chai :D

Good morning. Very interesting article. So, the medicinal marijuana can't be dispensed behind a counter by a qualified pharmacist, but a caregiver. And that caregiver got to store the marijuana at his home, yet travel to the patients to dispense them.
Hmm.. isn't that unsafe for the caregiver? That might invite potential robbery.
Still, it's time to make it legitimate for patients that can benefit from MM.

Sue, you sound tired. Tim's been keeping you up? Bad, bad Tim.
Lolol.. Savannah.. draw your heart out little lady.

It's the return to winter today. Low 40s now and not up to spending some time with Hambone! Maybe later!
Got a quilt to start for my sister where I'll use a jelly roll. Found an easy design.

Only about 16 expected for Christmas day....maybe 18 if two boyfriends come. A ham and an 8 lb. brisket will be the main stuff. Then I'm having stuffed bake potatoes for something different and green bean casserole for something NOT different! Think I'll have a BLT salad and homemade rolls. Kids are requesting Apple Kuchen again and that will probably be dessert along with the cookie tray.

At 5:30 on Christmas a couple of our dear friends will come for dinner so it will be a very busy day. We always get together after our family things and have a bite to eat and exchange gifts. She always gives such great gifts and this year, theirs will not be so hot....... :o(

Don't worry Cookie, about the gifts. They are truly blessed by your and your friendship :) that is the greatest gift you give. :)
well i m on my second glass of wine. LOL
Jaye can you believe she is stil drawing ?
happy holidays to all of you
hugs and kisses
sue

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.
I presume you all will have busy kitchens today. Don't you all worry how the food will turn out tomorrow. You all are great cooks.

Cookie, Sue is right, your gift of friendship and love overpowers all the material gifts you could give your friends.
Don't forget to give extra cream to the kitties and save a bone for Cayenne.
Apple Kuchen? Wow.. you're going all the way aren't you! Yummy.. it's always better the next morning warmed for breakfast, if you have left overs! One variation is to add cream cheese.
I must be so unlucky as to live so far away from a great baker and a candy maker!

Sue take pictures of Savannah's work and share with me. I love art and I think kids should be encouraged to develop that part of their brains.

Got a pot of hot chocolate and peanut butter cookies for y'all to nibble on this morning.
Off to do that necessary housework :(

May your day be a Blessed one today.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,

Well Jaye i am one who will not be busy in her kitchen :(, but I will be making one pie.
But hopefully next year Doug and I will have a house big enough to have both of our families together for Christmas.

Here is a little Christmas story for you all.

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.
Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.
Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Not a lot of people know this.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Here’s to a fantastic 2011!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Sis, I wouldn't want to be picking up all those wrapping papers tomorrow at your house, but I'll be there for the food!!

Happy news sistahs.
Thank you for your prayers for Kel's Uncle Henry. God took him about an hour ago.
Henry will be celebrating Christmas eternally now.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Jaye, so sorry to hear that but yes he is in a better place and not hurting anymore.

((((((((((((((((Jaye and Kel))))))))))))))))

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you Cindy.
Somehow that old saying it happens in 3s seems eerily true for Kel.
Buried his favorite uncle first, then his granma and right before the new year, his hippie uncle.
Time to hang up the mourning clothes.
