She's about to...56

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

This corner last year was filled with tall things, but these vines are just loving it here, this is a baby woodrose, and another morning glory called i. hderafolia lutea, both leafing everywhere.

I found 8 more buds this evening while looking for mealy bugs. I still find them in the crooks of the leaves of things.. this basement is ugly when it is not filled with plants, so plz ignore the cracks and scabs of the walls. That white stuff is from the water proof paint crumbling against the plants there. It is kinda crowded.this one was so tall that joe had it stuck up under the eave of the window well inside, but I trimmed it and started some cuttings from this one.

This one is a beautiful yellow , it has three buds, it is really tall. I just can't stand to cut them when they are budding.

Hi all ..... back again. Thanks for all the well wishes. Still in pain and still off work. Just haven't felt like being on the 'puter. Was suppose to have MRI on my ankle and foot Wednesday. Each set is 1 1/2 hours. It was hurting so bad with them just getting me set up, she got 1 45 second shot and said 'you are really grimacing, are you going to be able to do this?' The answer unfortunately was no. I went from there directly to my Pain Management doctor. (I had back fusion L4,5 S1 in 2007) He is out of town, be back next week. I just pray they can get me in. Can't go back to work till get a Dr.'s note that I can return. I believe all the pain stems from the original twisting of my ankle. Feels like my Sacariliac Joint area has a pinched nerve someone, that I contribute to the stiff brace I had on my ankle making me walk funny. Dr's office sent me to ER. They gave me a shot of some good drugs, put me to sleep, but was only a VERY temporary fix. He did give me a prescription that will last through next week.

LOVE the pinecone! Who did that and how did you do it??? I have very small pinecones, but they would be pretty hanging around in the trees.

I have been trying to figure out a way to hook a hose up to a bathroom faucet to water all my plants. When it was warm yesterday I was hoping I was able to get around and I would of hooked up the hose to the faucet outside the back door and watered everything. :-) Going to drop to the 30's this afternoon. Is 56 now. Got rain through the night that we really needed. Woke me up at 4:30, and our bedroom is in the middle of the house!
I trimmed my 2 hibiscus and 1 gardenia when I brought everything in. Have had them in water with a root booster added in, and they have done nothing! Wonder if I should go ahead and plant them. Any suggestions?
I have a couple of Brugs that are about 12-18" tall in 32 oz. foam cups. I'm wondering if I should put them in a bigger container? Not sure how big to let them get before I move them to a bigger pot.
I got this really weird dmail and wondered if I should report it or what? Did anyone else get this?

Still think that is a scam in the making and would report it. What can it hurt to report?

Good job with the pinecone, DJ. That's one big cone!

Beautiful, Debra!!!

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Patti, I hope they can get you in SOON. It's hard to take it easy when you're in pain. :(

I love the pine cone!

Debra, I bet we'd all love to be in your basement! You always post the prettiest blooms. I thought the Black Eyed Susan vine had fewer petals than the daisy type. I like it!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

There is all kinds of scam anymore. I had one on Skype last month. It was bad, actually terrible. Very stressful. Crit I would report it and delete it. I hope you get the pain under control.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

DEB : What is strictocardia morning glory. ? is it a Japanese one ? is yours blooming yet would love to see a picture :) I Want to start a few MG From seeds this weekend .

as for the pinecone it is just from $1. store PEANUT BUTTER Spread all over the cone then sprinkled with bird seed. & Hung Out for the birds :)

well daddy is calling for me so you all have a great day .

Going to have to try making some of those pine cones. i can just see them hanging from the other type trees by fishing line. Will look like 'suspended in mid air' cones. LOL

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OK, did all my daughterly duties at least part of them. Don't think it is possible to get it all done.

The amar's I bought are Salmon and Magic Green, think they both are going to be pretty.

Watering is killing me and I am afraid part of the plants at the rate I am going. I need to buy a new garden hose and get the rain barrel filled up and try that. Hauling water from the house to the garden room is no fun, it is probably 20 degrees and the wind is blowing about 30 miles an hour! Horrible. Where I put the garden room there are all kinds of pipes and electrical lines in the ground, kind of spooking trying to dig and put a water line, but may have to start a slow archelogical dig next year and run water, course it has to be buried 2 or 3 feet deep not to freeze....

Speaking of watering I had better get out there.....

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Happ do the rain barrel thing. It really will save you a bunch of time. You just have to remember to bring the hose in and drain it so it doesn't freeze when you want to refill.

Happy New Year All!

It won't be long before I'll be raising a glass of sparkling wine and making a toast to all you special DG friends.

Thoughts of you grow in my gardens.

Happy New Year!

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

Whew! I don't know if I can hold my eyes open long enough to watch the ball drop! Zzzzzzzzzzz. I didn't think I'd drink, but Keith got me a bottle of my favorite wine...how can I not??? It sure does taste good, but I'm afraid if I have too much, I might not hear Learynn in the night. Two glass limit for me! And no hangover tomorrow!
Happy New Year, Friends!

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

you can always hook up a Heater in the Barrel like they use in the cattle truff so the water won;t freeze. & It Melts the snow.

well off to get my day started so HAPPY NEW YEAR

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Happy New Year Everyone!

I put the rain barrel in the garden room back in the corner, I just never got it filled with water, many of the small things I didn't get done in 2010, but this is a New Year and I am sure I will be better about getting all those little things all wrapped up, along with staying organzied, taking off a few pounds, eating healthier, working less, have the perfect garden, yeap this is a New Year.. ;)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Happy New Year! Joe and I had a nice bottle of Asti . I sorted seeds while he watched the music shows on all the channels. No resolutions for me except to try to not commit the GLUTTONY sin. Way to go Debra!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, I thought I had a lot last summer when I counted 60!
Not for sure how many cuttings I have, but they are all doing good so far, most have rooted, and the rest have nice nubbies on them!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I may have to bum some Debra. Mine got froze, the cuttings did. Electicity went out and next morning ice on my cutting buckets. Hoping the ones in pots made it, I'm got to see and hope and pray they made it. I'm so aggravated...these are coming in the house. Ain't gonna trust that little heater, not very reliable to me.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Happy New Year all. Susie I didn't buy from the co-ops this year. I did year before last and really didn't have good luck with them. They rooted but never bloomed and didn't come back the next year. As for the initials, I don't like them because I never know what they stand for and can never get answers when I ask.
rides, so sorry your Angels froze....I would be sick. but this Spring I will be glad to share with you.

I'll try to get some cuttings this summer. I like to root them in sand.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I have some cuttings I have had in water for about 6 weeks now, that are doing nothing. Still green but not rooting. May go ahead and put in dirt and see what they do.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Well i Think I Have learned my lessen in Ordering Cuttings through a co-op Over $20. & End up with nothing , I Will stick with trading with friends :)

That Hibiscus is gorgeous. Please start at the beginning and tell me how to root them. Where to cut and when.
Thank You.

O.K. girls, I usually do it in the summer. I keep them moist the whole time they are rooting. Just cut off a piece, dip it in rooting hormone and stick it in sand. They like the moisture. Remind me and I'll start you some. I have a red one that is beautiful too. But don't forget to remind me. O.K.?

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

do you use like sand box play sand or ????

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

River sand would work but I believe Sandbox sand would work. I usually get one of the smaller limbs but I believe any may work. Keep it moist, I think that is important.

Beautiful blooms! I love that Cajun hibiscus Char.
I root mine the same way, only using vermiculite. My hibs cuttings are doing great, but I cut mine this winter.
That is a pretty geranium, mine are blooming too, except the pretty white and pink one. I think it is sick or something.
What is the red plant behind it Neener?
My Sticks are waking up!
