My dad was a little stubborn and after my mom died, he was smoking close to 3 packs a day. One Sunday morning he ran out of cigarettes, and drove to 3 different stores, and they were all closed. So he said, fine, if you don't want to sell me any cigarettes then I'm not going to smoke them anymore, and he never did.
Coffee Break # 49 Happy Christmahanukwanzika!
My cousin, who was an alcoholic and multi-drug abuser when young, became hooked on oxycontin years later, after a bad injury. He went to one of those clinics and got off it. You would think he would be incapable kicking such a tough addiction, given his past. He did it. No superman.
I guess that's what Victor meant about being able to quit....my DH & his son both quit cold turkey, but maybe there are different levels of addiction. Karen, very beautiful area....see that the article was written by a Harlow....maybe a cousin of my DH's family....
I want to file a complaint. This weekend was way too short. I want a refund. Can we make today Friday?
I will second that!!!!!
I'd rather make it June. Don't care about the day of the week!!
I'll second Victor's vote.
I'll settle for June too...May even!
Mid March
Let's not nit-pick! ^_^ Spring!
I'll take an extra yesterday, I don't trust tomorrows. (lol)
I prefer extra todays!
Not the past few days, too cold.
Yes! To everyone!
Not spring yet, I don't want to bypass Christmas. A few extra days this week would be great, though.
My dad too, quit cold turkey when cigs turned $1 a pack, he had been smoking since he was 9!!!!!
My dad started at 7, quit cold turkey when my brother as a teen got in a bit of trouble with that other smoke. He used to light a cig before his feet touched the floor in the morning!
Has anyone ever had acupuncture? I tried it today for my sciatica that has returned. I figured it's worth a try, can't hurt and my insurance covers the office visit for a chiropractic session. He said if it doesn't work by the fourth try it isn't going too. I didn't feel any different today. We'll see by Thursday.
My dad started at 2 and had to walk to the gas station across the highway to buy the cigs.
...just kidding.
LOL Harper!
- Sounds funny but it reminded me of something I saw once.
I once saw a mother put a lit joint up to a baby's mouth to quiet the baby which was crying in the stroller. - Midday, middle of the street, in NYC's South Bronx. (sometimes reality is more far-fetched than fantasy..)
I tried acupuncture once. Made me start smoking...
Acupuncture did not work for me when I had Trigeminal Neuralgia. Surgery did!
i'll take a friday and want the winter season:)
Good news!! They took the breathing tube out and Karen talked coherently to them said "My throat hurts, how long did you have that puppy down there?"
Ahhhhh YES!! Thats Karen!!!!!! Then they sat her up in a recliner for a little while and she did really well. Her left arm is not moving but her left leg she could move slightly, with P.T. she should get more movement out of it....it will never be normal but some movement is better than none! Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! for all your prayers and good wishes!!!
Oh Celeste that is so very nice to hear!!! Big hugs to all of you!
Good News!

I am keeping today. Although it is flipping freezin it is solstice and tomorrow is the first day of spring so I need today to practise my dance ^_^
Pixie, if that 'aint the best Christmas gift, I don't what is !!!!!
(I'm the daughter of a serious stroke victim, so I have personal knowledge of the issues involved.)
Oh B.A. I am so sorry, I didn't mean to bring up bad memories for you. Thank you though, it is the best Christmas Gift! I am so vey happy for her family, they have so much love and compassion for others, I hated seeing them go through this and not be able to "fix it".
Pixie, please don't apologize, it was many years ago. I just wanted you to know that lots of us are familiar with these big, sometimes painful, challenges.
Continued good luck....sending positive thoughts, vibrations, and prayers up in your direction!
I only want a repeat of the weekend if it can be a do-over, and no getting sick this time. I'll go with making it spring. Let's just bypass winter.
Ronnie, never tried acupuncture. Let us know how it works for you. I've tried homeopathic remedies for tooth pain, and it worked wonders.
Wonderful news about Karen, Celeste! I was hoping she would come around. That's fantastic!
Oh, guess what, I found out yesterday that my brother's wife had served him with divorce papers 3 days prior to his accident. Wonderful, eh?
Karen
