Yea Congrats on the job Susan
Beings this is my third time getting married. I don't want to have to bother with all the fuss. My first wedding was huge 350 ppl, 5 bridesmaids, flower girl and 2 ring bearers. I made all of their bouquets well actually they were lace fans with flowers to match their dresses (they wore pastels) I made my bouquet. My cake was made by a dear co-worker that was 7 tiers tall OMG!! with pastel flowers all over it. She tried to make butterflies out of frosting. But because it rained and rained up until about two days before the wedding there was too much moisture in the air so they wouldn't stay together.
My second wedding was a garden wedding. I made my dress, my daughters dress, vests and ties for the men. My hubby made an arch that I decorated with flowers, made ten little baskets of flowers to line the walkway.
So this time I wanted as little fuss as possible. Well it sure will be now. But I am so broken hearted over it, I keep trying to think of ways to make some extra cash. I am trying to sell my jeep but not having very good luck. I'm going to try Craig's list after Christmas and maybe it will sell. I don't have to pay for the wedding until we get there. So I'm not really giving up. It's my dress that I worry about. It is in such high demand that they just got another shipment in and don't know if it will be available come Feb. I don't want to but it too soon in case I don't lose the weight I'm hoping to lose. Dang sure is easy to put the poounds on but very hard to take them off, lol
♥♥ Sweet Interruptions ♥♥ 206
LOL Cindy - you are unbeatable, girl!!
My 1st and 2nd weddings were both small (read - tiny) affairs - no more than 15 at my first, and about 45 at my 2nd (they liked Bob better LOL ) None of my 1st's family came (from Ontario to Winnipeg - they Could have, but chose not to, obviously)
My DH Bob's DM came to our 2nd, and all of our friends came, too. Bob has a lot more friends than my 1st did, anyway LOL
When it was our 10th anniversary, I just casually mentioned a renewal of vows and Bob spoke to the pastor and arranged it all before telling me it was a "done deal"!!! Did I ever tell you how Bob proposed? It was the sweetest, dearest thing I could imagine......
We'd talked about it, but nothing was formalized...... I didn't think we needed a formal proposal... however......
On Christmas Day 1997, we'd opened all of our presents but Bob said he couldn't give me his yet - had to speak to my Mom. I called her to wish her Merry Christmas and he said not yet, had to see her. Went to her house, and all the family was there - my 3 sisters and their families, my brother, my DD and my DS. I said "Well........ where's my present???" He said - "Mom,...... I need to talk to you". He went into another room, shut the door. I couldn't figure out what was going on........ When they came out, my mom was grinning. He sat down, and I looked more and more puzzled/annoyed. I wanted my pressie!! He got down on one knee in front of everyone and proposed!! I was flabbergasted - couldn't speak...... my brother said "I suppose there's should to be a YES here?" Then I said YES!!
What he'd done, in the other room, was ask for my mom's permission for my hand in marriage! She'd always liked him, but she adored him from that point onwards! How very sweet to include her in this!!!
I should be in bed.. but I think I better post this before I lose courage :D
Think I got everyone beat when it comes to weddings.
Read this... I was my ex's fourth wife. He was my FIRST.
Mum and Dad were apalled that Harris chose not to have a ceremony in Singapore first.
We had our honeymoon first, in Hawai'i. That was the best part.
Got married at the court house in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, attended by his nephew and wife. Ex's siblings were wary of the marriage and didn't show up.
The reception was a dinner at a Popeye's Fried Chicken restaurant.
For gifts, I got a set of Tupperware and an ashtray :))
Harris wore a Western outfit.. and eau de Chivas Regal. I wore a black silk dress. ":> Can you say I had a premonition of things to come?
As for Kelvin.. round two again, but no Popeye's and no black dress this time.
Good night sistahs!!!
O Susan, I am so happy for you dear one that things turn out well on your first day!!
Thank you, Jaye - dear one!
Good morning, all!! I'm off to another day at work
I hope everyone's day is truly wonderful & blessed!!
I'm on the 2nd floor of a 2 storey building - lots of good exercise for me LOL
The great thing is, everyone seems really happy doing their job, which is always a gooooood sign ^_^
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Suan, you have a great day at work! It sure makes it easier to go to work, knowing everyone gets along!
Jaye, what are you doing up at midnight?
Good Morning!!! Another busy busy day here at the office so I'll pop in and out.
LOL Jaye!!!!
They're not my cups, they're cups that are in the kitchen, everybody uses them, they belong to the office and I don't care if they get broken. Sorry for the confusion. It's just funny that the cups I use were the ones not cleaned. Ever since I used 3 forks for one lunch and a plate I didn't need to use, 2 spoons for stirring my coffee, and something else I didn't need to use I haven't had the problem since. It was just Ms. Cheerful getting even for whatever, I have no idea.
Oh Cindy poo, but that's right, your just as married!
Lol Sue!
My tendonitis was killing my yesterday in my right elbow, I didn't think I had anything wrong with my right elbow! Waaaaa Hopefully today will be a better day.
YAY Susan!!!!
Cindy you should put it on Craigslist NOW if you have the means to sell it now, nobody will have any money after Christmas and everybody is Christmas Shopping! Someone might buy it to be a Christmas Present for someone else, or for themselves. I'd list it now.
I had about 40 at my wedding, at Ceasar's in Tahoe. Dave proposed on Christmas day, I had known him 1 1/2 months, my gift was a normal clothing box, so I expected to find clothes. I opened it and there was a smaller box, I opened that one and there was a jewelry box, now I'm thinking I got earrings because that's what everyone else had given me, but there was an engagement ring! I don't remember my reaction but I must have said yes because 3 1/2 years later we were getting married. My dress cost $500.00 at a bridal store in Modesto and it fit perfectly and I didn't need to have it altered at all! We had our reception at the Mexican restaurant in the Casino in a room that held 40 people and we ate and drank and partied, it was fun and I was wore out! I'm Dave's second wife, he's my first husband.
Love hearing all the romantic (and then not so much) stories.... ;o)
I have some news. After carefully reviewing all the information in the packet the oncologist gave my Mom, she has opted out of taking the chemo pill. When she first told me, I said to calm down and let me look up some stuff on the internet....well, I did, and now I wholehearted support her decision. She is 90 and not feeling bad. We misunderstood the oncologist and it is 70% DO have side affects and they are nasty. So she said she'd rather have 6 months of relatively good life as to a year of terrible.
I will try to make this a special Christmas for ALL my family, so that it will be remembered fondly by all.....
Oh Joyce, I am so sorry that you have to go thru this at this time of the year.
3 years ago my cousin got really sick. I took her to the hospital. Was in the ER for 7 hours before they finally told us what was wrong. She had a tumor on her liver and colon. They were going to remove it but when they opened her up it was too large. They gave her 5 to 6 months. This was in Aug. So that year the family did Christmas at my aunt's. My cousin passed away in the early morning on Dec 31. It was the hardest thing for me to go thru. We were only 7 months apart and the best of friends. So I know what you are going thru. All I can say is, take one day at a time and do the best you can, keeps friends and family close and love them more than you ever thought you could.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((JOYCE))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) to you Joyce, and your Mom! It is a hard decision, and I have always told hubby, if I were diagnosed, I would not do the treatment! I may do as Kel's Uncle, and grow my own green meds!!! LOL! But I would never go through the agony of those horrible chemicals!
Enjoy your time with her.
Here in CA it is really easy to get a scrip for the "green meds". Doctor's give them to cancer patients immediately. Not too sure if it really works good for pain, but works great for nausea.
And I'm with you Linda, why prolong it. I would not want to have my family see me suffer.
(((((((((((((((Cookie))))))))))) Give your Mum more of your beautiful smiles.
((((Cookie )))) may the Lord give you extra strenght at this time. I know his arms are wrapped around your mummy holding her, to let her know she is in good hands and he will lead the way in her journey .
LOL on the green meds LOLLLLL .
oh i m going to go take my bra off ..... these girls are heavy and killing me !
bbl
ewwwww PTL for unanswered prayers!!!! (we can't view Sue)
((((((((((((((((((((Joyce))))))))))))))))))) I agree with your mom...... 6 months of feeling good is Much Better than a year of lousy........
Sure hope he feels better soon!
Morning everyone! Hot coffee, with oatmeal and wheat toast today!
((((((((cookie))))))))
morning everyone. please keep warm
Morning Sis, how are you doing? Staying warm I hope?
Thank you dear Sistahs for all your support. I have been thankful for all the people who agree that it is the right thing to do. She is at peace with her decision and in a great frame of mind. We will just have to pack a lot of living in what time she has left...
Oh THERE you are Sue!!!!! ^_^ Don't forget to pay your $12.00 dues for the Hosta Society membership (they need to be paid by the 31st).....I'm still hoping you and I can do the Hosta College in the Spring...
I have a bum cell phone. It just made a little chirping sound and turned itself off...now it won't turn on. So I've got my M&D's cell phone but all my numbers are programmed in my phone... :o( Took me a while to remember my daughter's number, cause she's #7. :o)
Had a Garden Club Christmas dinner last night...(Geesh...cost me $30 to eat!) but it was a lot of fun. Got two ornaments (one in a swap and one from the president) and I had a nice box of prime rib bites left over for Cayenne...As I was turning in my driveway at 9:30, I glance over and see that the stuff is NOT with me...sigh...I left it at the restaurant. The pres...emailed me and said she picked it up for me and will hold it until the Jan. meeting...she's even freezing the bites for Cayenne!
Burrrr I am about to move to Florida!!!! Of course I know it isn't as cold as some of you are having but for us it is cold. Atleast the sun is shining and that helps. Our high is predicted to be in the 40s again and low 20 tonight.
Hello Kathy, How you doing?
Sue sorry to hear you have a sick child and had to cancel your hair appointment. Humm, I need to make one soon.
Cookie, like the others I agree with your Mom's decision and a positive mind will help extend that 6 month prediction into longer time. So sending many, many positive thoughts your way and love. Don't forget that love thing--it can work wonders!!!!
^_^ You guys are the best....
My Mom made the same decision Joyce and we (my siblings and I) were all glad that she did. We packed in as much as possible for as long as possible and when she got to be really tired, that's when we all started taking turns staying with her until she finally stayed with my brother and his wife until she passed. It was only a matter of months but she knew she was truly loved. Her Dr. made sure she had no pain and her passing was very peaceful. I can only hope the same for your family. My prayers will continue dear heart.....
(((((((((((((Kathy)))))))))))))) Miss you girl!!! I should find time to call you.. hanging head here... Sure hope you're physically at 100%!
Your team's going to the Capital 1. Wooohooo.. that should be an easy win over Michigan!
Cookie, you make it so easy for us to love you. (((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))
We'll be with you through it all. Call me anytime (even in the wee hours) and I do pick up the phone when I'm home. This phone number too is extended to all my sistahs here.
910 653 7080.
Sue, hope Austin get to feel better.
Maid M., you are in Florida!!!! Blame the cold on SIN--- what have you been doing bad lately??? lolol!!!!
Sistah Judy, Cookie.. Barb...Susan... keep the snow to yourselves please. It's supposed to drop down to the teens.. and you all know how I feel about the snow...major BRRRRRRRR.
Hummmm, does "drooling" over a movie poster count? After all new movie coming and no Jojo to share it with! How sad.
LOLOL!!!!
Hey Jaye, how are you doing today? What are you and Kel up to?
Kel's on an errand.
Thermostet set on 73*, starting to plummet to the teens here!!!
Thinking of packing the other 3 RMB boxes, but my back and legs hurt too much! Oh yah.. woke up late. Sleeping pill and muscle relaxer combo is the BEST for a good night's sleep!!
But... managed to cook chicken and dumplings.. all from scratch. I rather add biscuits, but I thought of just toughing it out and do the dumplings the old fashion way.
Tonight, I'm looking forward to the 2nd show of Top Chef All Stars.
Good news for me today is from Maid M. Urban quit!!!
So.. how's your day, LK ^_^
im ok, just busy with my little man/ him and his mom leave saturday. they are going to ny for a week.
colder than a witch's t-t here
Hello Ladies,
The wedding is back on!!!! I sold my jeep today. A friend of my cousin's had been wanting one and he came over and looked at it. Actually there were 2 of guys, if one didn't buy it the other one was so it was a done deal no matter what. I am doing the happy dance!!! Now I can order my dress!!!
It is cold and raining here. But suppose to be in the 60's this weekend Nice ridin' for the Toy Run yes. Will have to go shopping for a gift.
Hi Ladies. I was lurking for a bit and came across your post Cookie about your Mom. I am going through the same things right now with my Dad. I am glad that she decided not to take the chemo. My Dad is on his 5 th round as of tomorrow, and he has had nothing but misery from it. And it isn't helping. At all. He would have been so much better off to take a year or so of a relatively good life as opposed to this madness. The only thing I can figure is that the Dr.s can't make any money if they tell people the truth. Sorry if I sound jaded, but this has been the year from H**L because of this. They say they will do radiation next. He has esophageal cancer that is in his liver already so there is not going to be a cure here. Sorry for the rant, but it makes me furious when these Dr.s subject elderly people to this torture when they know there isn't going to be a good outcome.
Juanita
Neener, I am so glad you shared this with us.
(((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))
I am so sorry your dad's cancer had invaded his liver. . Neener, will they do chemo on his liver?
You are so right about the doctors.
It's amazing, pre Medicare, Kel's mother's doctor wasn't inclined to run her through a barrage of tests. Now, the same doctor would be recommending all kinds of tests at specialty offices. The only problem with MIL is her bp.
Wonder if he gets kickbacks?
We can all cling on to hope when it comes to grave cases like your dad, Maid M's mum and Cookie's mum. I am so thankful that Kel's dad survive stage 4 lung cancer.
On the other side of the creek, Kel's uncle is living his last few days pain free from excess natural green herbs!!
Feel free to express yourself here Neener. It's better to release and share your anxieties than let them be bottled up. Not good for your psyche.. trust me... I almost commit myself to a nut house!!!
ETA...
Cindy!! So you'll have your wedding as planned!! Glad for you both.

Neener sorry to hear your Dad is not responding! Sending prayers to all in need!
Yeah, Cindy gets her dress and her wedding!
DId you know that Dr's get paid to prescribe medicine to us ! they get paid from the pharma companys.
so some dr's don't care what they give you as long as they get paid !! .up to 300.00 a year !!
they also get paid to be spokesperson for the pharma companys to promote those meds.
the new law with the new medical will make dr's tell you what they get paid . That will be a good thing ? i hope.
and we have the right to know if they do.
well i m off to bed
good night and will be sending healthy thoughts and prayers to those in need of them
sleep well my friends
Neener, so sorry to hear about your Dad and rant all you want to!! You should have known me7 years ago when Ross was going through all the chemo. We were told he might have 24 + with chemo or maybe 18 without. It was his decision to have the chemo but it only lasted 18 almost to the day. Cookie, sending hugs and prayers for you and you too, Neener. Rant away both of you as it is not good to bottle it up--I know. Sure wish I had know it back then instead of everyone telling me "you have to be strong!". Yes, you do but bottling things up is worse.
Give all the hugs and love you can will be the best.
