Want to wish you all with thoughts of warm weather. If I could, it would be a tropical Christmas for us all!!!
Judy, I am so glad you're able to make some money for yourself. A Christmas list is out of the question for this year for me. Just cards sent to family and make sure the RMB prizes are taken care of. Still we will have joy as WE are the reason for the Season ^_^ Christ came to save us!!
Cindy, my mum suffered with athritis in her hands. We were the first household with a full time washerwoman and a live in maid. At that time I thought we were rich..wow..2 servants. (No washing machine during those time) Until I realized why dad had 2 jobs, and grandad bought the house and paid for the food bill.
Sorry I didn't return last night. After the supper, we went to a funeral home. Cookie, I was just outside the door when the phone rang, couldn't get it in time.
Left a messae on your cell and tried calling again later.
Anyway, it's Kel's classmate that died. She's 44, was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer and mercifully, she died 3 weeks later.
Her bowels were blocked. She left 3 teenagers behind.
She had so much to look forward to, unlike me :( I'm ready to meet the Lord, and leave all these behind.. but Lord knows what He's doing.
AAAARRRgggghhhh got to put on some clothes. Saturday trip to pick up furry babies food.
Head is spinning so much.. severe sinus... better wash out the cavities then take some Benadryl.
Catch you all later sistahs... stay warm... dream of the ISLANDS!!

Yay, I'm first in the new room!!
Wow even after a couple of hours...
Everyone must be busy, hope you are all enjoying the day.
still snowing ever so gentle now.
I am working on that ornament, waiting for it to dry.
Oh no Jaye, sorry about your sinuses. Hope the Benadryl helps.
I am sorry to he about Kel's classmate.
For whatever its' worth.. since life is short..
here goes.
I thank God that He gave me an avenue to find a gazillion new friends, and am proud to say His effort has not gone wasted.
It's not a gazillion new friends I've found, but a bushel of crazy loving sistahs just the ones He want me to have.
I love each and everyone of you.
Dear Sistah Jaye,
It sounds to me like you are in need of A tight ARM WRAP!!
And you know, I am ever grateful to be on the very same path..
Jaye seeing your latest posts makes me think of a song by John Meleancamp!
It's called A Ride Back Home...
let me see if i can find the words, think you'll like it.
Here is the song!!
OMG, i just love this one too.
A Ride Back Home...(copied from the lyrics website.)
[ A Ride Back Home lyrics from
http://www.lyricsyoulove.com/j/john_mellencamp/a_ride_back_home/ ]
Hey Jesus can you give me A Ride Back Home
I've been out here in this world too long on my own
I won't bother you no more
If you can just get me in the door
Hey Jesus can you give me a ride back home
When I started out I was so young and so strong
I just let it roll off my back when things went wrong
Now it's starting to get to me
All of this inhumanity
Hey Jesus can you give me a ride back home
You wouldn't know it by looking at me now
But I was showing some promise once upon a time
But it's gone now
And it ain't coming back
My time's come and gone
It's as simple as that
Hey Jesus this world is just too troublesome for me
I try to fight off all these devils but I'm just too weak
When I'm out here walking all alone
I feel like taking my life but I won't
Too big a coward, can you give me a ride back home
Hey Jesus can you give me a ride back home
Hey Jesus can you give me a ride back home
From John Mellencamp's new album, Life, Death, Love and Freedom)
sorry I'm not posting, but just got home, and I need to make dinner.... take care, all my sistahs!!
GH looks great Sue....
Sorry I've been MIA....just not up to talking.
Well, bad news concerning my mother. She's stage 4. The colon cancer has spread to 4 places in her liver and it is an aggressive cancer. Surgery is not an option. She will start the chemo pill as soon as possible. (Possible side affects are nausea, diarrhea, mouth sores and sore and breaking skin on the hands). If she can tolerate the chemo, she has 12-18 months. If she can't and stops it, less than 6. So, I'm not really doing very good right now. She says she's had a good 90 years, but I'd surely rather have her here and in good health than otherwise. I just hope she doesn't suffer.... :o(
Joyce-so sorry to hear that-I wish I was there to give you a giant hug(((())))
Thank you Stacey....all hugs appreciated....
Sending gentle hugs Joyce. Get in touch with hospice. They will see to it that she does not suffer in any way and will be a great help to you as well. Wonderful people that God has given us to ease our shoulders. God bless......
Dearest, dearest Cookie. Your bond between your mother and you are so naturally strong. It is of course, difficult to let her go. She has given you her love, unconditionally, and dear sister, this love doesn't stop when she meets our Lord.
You'll carry that in your heart, and think of that great reunion in Heaven when you'll see her again.
For now, I'll pray for her comfort as you wish, and also for your father who will need you more.
((((((((((((((((((((Cookie))))))))))))))))))))))
We all need tight armwraps for sure, sistah Judy.
I love that song and found a vid. on youtube.

Awe Cookie, so sorry to hear the news!
((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Will be saying lots of prayers for you and your Mom!
Cookie, I am so sorry to hear the news about your Mom. Sending hugs and prayers to all of you.
Same here
Thank you all so much. My folks seem to be handling this well.
Yesterday I ran a couple errands for them and they had something they wanted to "talk to me" about. Seems they've decided that the plans they made a couple of years ago concerning their deaths are not what they want now. They already had plots in their hometown outside of Columbus. Even have their headstones there with their names and birthdates. My nephew that was killed in a hunting accident (at age 27) is buried on the opposite side and his info is on the other side of the stone. Well, they had decided that they would be cremated and have their ashes buried there.
Now, Dad told my Mom that he just couldn't stand the thought of her being cremated. That same day they got a flyer from the place they live (it has a small cemetery) with the prices for graveside services and they've decided that's where they want to be buried. So now, we'll go back to the place where they did the pre-planning and we'll change it to what they want. I think they thought I might have some objections to that, but heck, I'm glad that they'll be here close to me.
Cookie, as much as this hurts right now, the time will come you will be so grateful all the arrangements are made. Unfortunately Ross and I hadn't finished making our arrangements when he collapsed and the kids had to finish for us. Thankfully they knew what was wanted because I was totally unable to function at the time.
Yes, I know it's a good thing. Funny, when we went to make those arrangements, it was a really good day for all 3 of us. We laughed and shared stories...won't be as fun this time.....
(((((((((((((((((((COOKIE))))))))))))))))))))))) Big big big hugs. Marion is absolutely right, and so is Jaye, I can't say anything to add to it.
Sue NICE GH!
I gotta get to work, it's getting late!
Morning everyone! How about some nice hot chocolate for this cold m orning! 32 here today! Frost on the cars! Brrrrrrrr.....
40 here.
Need that hot chocolate, sister! Thanks...
Ahhh.. I'm giving out warm hugs!!!
Cookie, I echo Maid M's sentiments. When both my parents died, I relied heavily on my siblings, as there's this great divide that made it impossible for me to be part of that decision, even though it's a matter of which headstone will be suitable.
Wish we could do something for you from here. (((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))
Last night, we were given a box of cookies, and my Lord, there were some no-bake Fruitcake balls, and they were so delicious with Rice Krispies added. I think I'll do some myself this year, but add more pecans. Now to shell those pecans that my gf has given. Care to help?
Will any of you be baking by the way. It's a no brainer that Kim will be baking, right Maid M? You're so lucky!! Bet your house smells delicious during this season?
Crissy, have you found out why they left your cups soiled? Not to start anything, but maybe it's a blessing.. at least your cups are not damaged.
Sue, sorry I didn't comment on your gh. You all did a good job. Looks like it too can be a playground for the twins!
Susan's first day today.... let's send positive thoughts out her way!! Knowing her, she'll be well accepted there.
Slowly getting the RMB prizes out and maybe do a little stitching later..
ROFLOL, nope house doesn't smell all that good right now. Kim just finished her classes for her next degree--one A so far and waiting (impatiently) for her grade in Statistics. She is going to have either an A or high B but she is hoping for an A. She is my over achiever!!!!!!
Jaye, if closer I would help shell pecans with you for sure. My son did have many pecans this year--seems to go every other year. No bake fruitcake balls? Sounds wonderful--I love fruitcake but no one else in my family does--well Mom does but can't have it anymore.
Sue, yes I too, have failed to comment of your GH--looking good.
Have to run an errand in town so will check back later.
I made pumpkin raisin cookies, and banana bread this week-end, I will be baking snickerdoodle later with red and green sprinkles on them! Probably some peanut butter balls as well!
Susan, please tell us how your first day went! I bet you fit right in!
Guess I need to move, and get a warm shower! Catch you all later!
Morning Ladies,
Joyce, so sorry to hear of your mom. Yes funeral arrangements are not fun. When Francis was taken from me so suddenly, I had no idea how I was going to pay for his services. Thank God for friends and family, with money donations. My SIL was a huge help to me.
No Christmas baking here. Maybe next year when Doug and I have our own place I will be in better spirits and will decorate and bake. Him being a SOUS Chef I'm sure we will be able to make some yummy things. I know one thing that we will make and that will be Caramels. (Thanks Joyce) I so miss not having my own home and decorating.
Our wedding plans have changed. We are not going to South Lake Tahoe to get married. Money is a huge issue for us and we can not afford to do it. I am so sadden by this. I was so looking forward to it. So we will just be going before the Justice of the Peace in Marysville. How unromantic is that :( But the important thing is, we will still be getting married. So I cancelled the order for my dress :( I so loved that dress so much.
Thought I'd share so beautiful Fall colors with you even though it is windy and raining right now.
Hope you all have a good week
Sorry your plans had to change, Cindy....I know you're disappointed. We don't have JoPs here in Ohio, so Bill and I were married at the Courthouse....no big (or little) wedding, but a ceremony none the less and still just as married!
Cookie did i ever tell you the story of when i was at lunch with my MIL and her best friend ? its a crack up how they talked about their funerals . You would have thought they were going to prom !! LOL by the way they talked about hair and make up
good morning
brrrr its cold here today
18 and witih a windchill its -3 yikes
Lucy don't like to sit in snow
she pooped in her crate while i was vacuming. she is so scared of that thing. so in the tub she went and me along with her so i guess we both got a bathe.
sue
Afternoon everyone!
Cindy, sorry to hear about change in plans, maybe you both can take a belated honeymoon in the near future?
Sue, that is pretty cold, stay warm please? Love your home, and the greenhouse! Very nice!
Ooooh my athritis!!! 18*!!! Yikes Sue.. stay warm! You might need to start on a jacket for Lucy, instead of a hat!!!!!
Cindy, I think all women want a fairy tale wedding. But it's not the wedding, it's the journey in the marriage that matters.
Chin up sister, there's always future anniversaries where you could recite your vows again, and at your planned venue.
Hey Jaye, how are you guys doing today? Did you go see the President at Salem today?
It's too cold to even 'fart' outside!!!! Lolol!!! Salem is too far away from here, LK. Moreover, they have to pay me to see him!!
Oh my.. thank God we don't need snow tires. Just saw on tv that in Europe, if your vehicle is not equipped with that.. it's illegal to drive.
And there's a shortage of them!!
''it's the journey in the marriage that matters.'' Amen to that Sistah!!!!!
Cindy, Hubby and I renewed our vows for our 25th ann. Had our 3 sons there!! a bunch of family!! was WAY better than the the first ceremony!!!! Did it on the beach, "our way" it was great!!! Dreams make the world go round' eventually you will get "your day"
" still just as married " the love is what matters !!!! ((((((((((((((((((Cindy & Doug))))))))))))))
big hugs to ya both!!!!
Thanks Ladies
Doug said he doesn't care what we do as long as I marry him, lol. He is really depressed waiting for SSD to make their decision. I keep telling him these things take a long time. But he has no patience what so ever, lol. And with unemployment running out that does not help. He will be having surgery on his neck soon. And when he does he will not be able to turn his head from side to side. So he is down in the dumps about that. He really doesn't want to have it done but the pain is just too much to bear anymore.
((((((((((Joyce))))))))))) Difficult time for you, I know.....
s'funny thing, Joyce, but I used to be in the business of pre-arranging burials.......so I know exactly what is involved.....
Cindy - so sorry about your wedding plans being changed. When Bob & I got married we used an engagement ring from WalMart, and got our wedding rings pretty inexpensively at a jewelers...... and I made my bridal coat (knitted and took me 5 months, using baby wool) over a dress bought at a big-box store. Bob Did wear his celtic outfit - kilt, and all, and the ladies of the church put on a reception lunch for us at no cost (wasn't that lovely of them?!?!). We even had a friend who was a professional photographer take our pictures.
It was a lovely day (Oct 10th) and a "good time was had by all" Bob picked out the first song (3 time a lady).
I made all the floral arrangements, and had a Red Velvet cake that I made myself. I even made the decorations for the church - long streaming white bows for the end of the pews, and lots of artificial flowers I also made the invitations.
It really was beautiful, and I had a "Blast" doing it!
Oh, I almost forgot LOL
I had a Terrific first day at work. Because I'd worked at a "branch" of the company (worked at Calgary Lab Services admin, and now I work at their Alberta Health Services HR dept, who manages CLS), I found it relatively easy to "slip into" this role. Same job, with different bosses, at a different location, really........
For the first hour they took me around the floor, to meet everyone. Then I got a "Welcome" binder, and skimmed through it....... then I got on the phone to confirm accesses and got most of them resolved. It was funny when one of the tech support guys said "are you the same Susan MacKenzie...." yes, I am, so we chatted for a minute about that LOL
As for the rest, my boss Jerri was really pleased with the initiatives I took today, and the fact that I am already trying to get her office set up so she can turn her computer with it's back to the door and her facing the door (right now she has her back to the door and anyone can read from her computer.....)
They provided me with a cell phone, told me I may be traveling with them and other stuff....... kewl - how about Maui?!?!? lol Traveling isn't a definite, however. They'll provide me with a laptop as well.
All in all, a very productive first day.
Susan, glad to hear your getting settled in already! Sounds like you know what to do!
