Coffee Break # 48 - Holiday 2010 edition

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just saw the most spectacular rainbow I have ever seen! So happy my kids were there to see it too. Full half circle. Double rainbow. Incredibly bright and clear. And it lasted well over 15 minutes! Everyone was looking and taking camera phone pics. I took a few. Wish I had my real camera.

NASA will announce details of an 'astrobiology finding' tomorrow at 2. People are buzzing over it. Probably microscopic life on one of Saturn's moons. Exciting!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Found Nasa's keynote speaker on the subject!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

HAPPY BELATED TURKEY DAY ALL!!!! I am still frazzledly working on my secret santa presents. I'm making it easypeasy for me. I'm only asking for toys ^_^

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

How cool seeing that rainbow, Victor. Don't you hate it when you don't have your camera with you for times like that?

Victor, that would be an amazing discovery if any life on any moons in our solar system has been found.

Hello, Cousin Nut! Did you have a great turkey day? Do you guys celebrate it there in Canada?

Karen

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Ohh I've seen one of those rainbows, took pictures (film) and mailed it away, and it got lost...
But those rainbows were gorgeous.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hey D-Nut!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Canada's Turkey day is in October.

Hey D-Nut!!!!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Doesn't it coincide with 'Curling day' or something?...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi D-Nut!! Welcome back!!!

East Bridgewater, MA

Canada's harvests are weeks earlier, hence their "Thanksgiving Day" is weeks earlier.

I am not sure I will buy anything from sears anymore.... we bought a christmas prop... the description said 210 lights.. the item that came only had 59... I tried to email the problem 3 times... only to be bounced back by the security at sears thinking it was a credit card number... which there was none... soooo I called ... what a mistake.. the outsourced help could not understand the problem.. kept saying that the item must have been damaged in shipping or tampered with... I kept saying no shipping was fine... packing came in perfect condition... the problem was from the manufacturer... over and over and over again... THEN wanted me to bring it to ups for a return... I said no... why should I use my gas, time & money to ship it back when the problem was on your end... gave me a hard time... I said who else can I talk to this is unacceptable... now all of a sudden she is going to have ups pick it with the call tag... OK... now I am getting somewhere... do you know she suggested to return this one and make a new order for another??? yeah with black friday sales price.. free shipping... yeah I am going to pay more for something that was falsely advertised... I told her to forget it... just return the darn thing

I know collectionsetc has cheap products... but the customer service is sooooo much better... wish they were all like that.. most of the time if this happened with them.. they tell me to keep the item and they will ship another out to me

Thomaston, CT

How frustrating, Allison....I hate those outsourced calls.....love the skit they do on TV about the burly Russian who calls himself Peggy. Hope you don't have anymore problems with Sears.....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

allison i had problems with sears over the summer when are fridge died - known issue with model - there was a recall except ours was delivered 1 day after the recall ended - will not get into the calls and non-support i recieved - good thing i was not with them in person. will never buy sears again

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

live & learn... btw I am home sick today... just kept saying.. WHY did I call??????

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ah, sorry your sick and got crappy customer service....that just makes it worse!!!

Thomaston, CT

Sorry Allison....hugs for a quick recovery!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks guys... if it was a $20.00 item I would have forgotten about it... but it was a $70.00 item... no way man!!!.... and if all the lights were there... it would be worth that amount... after I plugged it in.. said it looks kind of lame and asked Randy if he wants me to add more lights... then I looked at the box.. saw 210 lights.. said no way is that even close... I was right... only 59... it has clear holographic plastic over gift boxes... set of 3.. would look good if it had all those lights in there... but only 1/4 of them.. not so much

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very frustrating. Feel better

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks.. I feel better after venting... thanks for putting up with that.. LOL

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ugh don't get me started on outsourcing!!!!!

Feel better!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Funny...just noticed...how we in the NE have a coffee break thread...AU has "tea room"

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Feel better!

I think companies outsource so customers won't call them with complaints.
If you have a complaint they transfer your call to New Delhi or Pakistan where they don't speak English... (lol!)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Feel better Allison (hugs Jersey Girl)

Companies outsource for one reason.....it's cheaper in the short run. *notice I did not say long run*

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks babe

I didn't complete all five trees, like the assignment called for. Here's the first of my five. A crabapple. Didn't I already post this? I must be losing my mind.
