These little things have been in my family a long time. The choir members are salt and pepper shakers. My grandma got them from my grandpa.

Here is a horn with a CC cutting and a piece of a spider plant that fell off.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Here is a couple of hens and chicks I put in this planter this spring. Should I move them back outside ? These are in the kitchen window area.

You sound as sentimental as I am, Debra. Don't you just love looking through old photos and mementos passed down for generations? Right now I'm going through old ornaments, seeing each one brings back fond memories. Last year one of my planters was a mix of succulents, some I knew weren't hardy and it also had a sprinkling of Hens & Chicks. Looking back, I should have moved the Hens & Chicks outside since I've learned they're hardy to Zone 3. Over the Winter in the planter inside, mine lost their dark green or red colors, stretched out instead of staying in neat rosettes, and ended up lanky. I've given just about all I had to my girlfriend who I swear must have her own micro-climate. She leaves her strawberry pots outside year-round and has H&C's way larger than my open hand, and she has a knack for growing them on rocks. No fuss, no soil, no water other than rain or snow. Sure beats the heck of of the way I babied them.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well the others are still outside in a strawberry and sedum pot, I hope they love thru the winter.. the lady who gave them to me said they would. I had planned on putting that hanging planter with the two chicks in it back outside, right beside the back door. Maybe I better do that?

I don't have a bunch of stuff like I used to, but the stuff I kept means a lot to me, College girl will get everything she can out of all the boxes downstairs, and this house will look like a christmas store. UGH.

I am so ready to start making my seed balls, but need to get outside to get more clay. It is so cold, I am like my dog, we just stand at the back door and shiver.. forgot the picture of the horn.. it is old too..

COOOOOOOL!!!!!! Which one is you?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

uhm.. I am on the left, the tall lady in the funny hat. College girl was 12 when this was taken. It was our Last Family Vacation. She is 22 now. *sigh* okay it is 24 outside.

This was a temporary home for my other T's, now they are sort of where I want them.
Poor angel lost her head, but now she has a flower growing thru her. I think it is a Salvia Lady in Red.

Oh, my bad, that is what I get for speed reading. Thought that was college picture with roommate or something. Pretty handsome family there.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks! That was a few years ago, tho. The let it snow picture is of my sister and her daughter, and it is my favorite one, altho it is also about 5 years old. I call my youngest daughter College girl. She is in college, and she is the only one who ever attended college in my family.

did you read my post about the stuff I sent or am sending?

My Iochroma is still blooming away down stairs.

NO, I am not finding the post where you talk about stuff you have ready to ship out. I'm spacing out again

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Patti, see if what you're looking for is on the houseplants / tropicals thread earlier today:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1143362/

I've gotta look up lochroma, Debra. Never heard of it but your blooms are so pretty and look like little trumpets. Were Hummingbirds attracted to it? Seeing anything still blooming is such a treat. Outside blooms are kaput and the only ones inside are a few new amaryllis that are about to.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

My Bad, Patty. I get the two thread mixed up. I am currently rooting some Iochroma, it is Purple queen. It grows like a brug. It is kinda the same family I think. It blooms all summer and all winter. Last summer one of them got to be over 8 ft tall. I am trimming them to be more like a tree shape. The same with my Hibiscus. I like tree canopy's around me on the patio. That is why I trim my brugs up and make tall standards, too. I really want the Blue Iochroma that has the bigger bell. I found it, but the shipping is horrendous. Here is a brug tip cutting I rooted in the vermiculite.. Look at the roots, it is now potted up.

Thumbnail by joeswife
Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

When using the pop tops to root, how to you prop them up so they don't fall over?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, I am like you I can't keep all the forums straight...rofl. I am sure I am repeating myself. I am sure I am repeating myself....LOL

Deejay you still out there? Or did you get buried in the snow? It is bitter cold today here, way low teens....ugh!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

those tops are just used as collars, the bottom two thirds is in the other half of the bottle, filled with vermiculite. somewhere I posted a picture, but the collar helps stablalize the cutting and the vermiculite in it helps form upper roots so I can have a longer stem full of roots.
Hope that helped.
Happ, ur killin me.. I sure wish we could see you one of these trips you go on.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

OK, I understand that now Debra. Thanks!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Didn't get much at home accomplished except two loads of laundry and supper cooked after spending the majority of the day running errands and grocery shopping, nice and quiet the places I went, but did notice the parking around the courthouse was jam packed. It's always like that on the last day to pay real estate and personal property taxes before interest kicks in.

Several of my new Amaryllises from the co-op are "about to", can't wait to see them bloom and show them off to ya'll. Faye, the Brug cuttings don't have nubbies yet but did notice through the glass today that several have grown more baby roots.

Now what to do next? Wait for nubbies or go ahead and plant these in pots? You gals with experience please help me all you can and don't lose them like I did last year.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi All, Susan, if they have the little white nubbies or roots, they are ready for potting. so glad they are doing what they are supposed to do. LOL, remember my garage? Need more? Just let me know.
Love & Hugs

Faye what extra do you have ??? I Might consider I was recruited In for Iedas for our 2011 Garden float & then they Will Sell the Plants after the parade so was just thinking if I can get them of good size they might just sell good & it would help out the gardening club.
Debra , I also think i would love to try a few Iochroma one day :) they are very pretty. love the blue but it looks more purple to me if there is ever any co-op any Please let me know .

well i still have the crud &i have to stay in my room away from daddy so i don't give it to him.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Suppose to have snow flurries here today and maybe tomorrow, but nothing big. Yea! I like to watch it snow.

dj ..... you get to feeling better, you hear? That's an order. :-))

Patti

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susie, sorry your sick! I still have my crud too, going on 4 weeks, and it just seems to keep going, evewn after a round of antibiotics!
All of you stay warm!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

That's sweet of you, Faye, but I'll work with the ones you sent earlier that are ready to be potted.

My crud's been hanging on since Sunday after Thanksgiving. So much for neighborly parties, every one who attended got sick.

The co-op I referenced was http://www.eflowergarden.com/
Their offerings change seasonally and are now having a Spring flowering bulbs sale.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Goodness, so much sickness. I'm so sorry and hope each of you will feel better soon. My Brother has had that mess since Thanksgiving.
Still have many pink, white, and yellow named Angel Trumpets.
No, Crit, tikipod did not contact me.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Would you please let me change my mind, Faye, and receive another box of cuttings of colors of your choice? My SIL is coming in January and know she'd love to have some :) Last Summer she had a shrub to die and put one of those pink surveyor's ribbons on it and called the lawn people to come dig it up. While she was at work, the non-English speaking crew showed up and proceeded to dig up and haul off her Brugs.....and they were blooming! She was devastated and said even if they didn't speak English, a plant blooming is a universal sign that a plant is alive.

Elvis hasn't left the building after all...lol Actually according to the tag it's Amaryllis "Elvas" and bloomed today.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Elvas is beautiful. Do you put yours out in the summer? I have put mine out the last few summers and I am now getting baby bulbs along side the Mammas.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Amaryllis "Elvas" is beautiful...please tell me how to raise those beauties. I have some and do not know what and when to .
Yes dear friend, your box will be coming to you soon.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

dahtzu ..... tiki thought she had e-mailed you. I told her to contact you again. Thanks!

(Ang) Bremerton, WA(Zone 8b)

I'm a bit late finding this post but my jaw dropped at the sight of your cuttings pictures Dahtzu!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi tiki, yep have lots. I grew mine in the ground and they get much larger and that makes sooooooooo many cuttings. I love every Angel Trumpet I've seen, and love to share them.
Stay warm, healthy and happy everyone.

This is a tiny tip cutting, it looks all dead on top. This is flamenco, and the bottom 3/4 inch is hard and has good healthy roots, it is back into its growing pot. My theory is, they draw food and energy from the top half if they are that small and green, to develop their life system. But that is my theory. Not reality, prolly.

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Kind of hard to get much from Kaitlyn Mamma, she is pg with her three pods..

edited because I had Flamencos name in there, and she is right next to me here, without pods.
