OMG Judy, that's just too cute..yes, always need a painter, too bad the talents couldn't have been used when you were painting the kitchen..lol

Lexington Park, MD

That is just so adorable.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Luv birds ... that one is adorable!! ^_^

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty it's 54*, sunny, and a slight breeze.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh Crissy, want to live in your neck of the woods, it's 41 here today and as day progressed temps will lower..

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

crissy, where is Malvern?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Does that mean in this hot weather Crissy you are NOT thinking Christmas crafts...think you still have a Victorian Santa laying naked somewhere don't you..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's 61* now. It's too early in the season to be that cold yet, but you don't want to be here in the dead of winter, we don't get hardly any snow but a lot of freezing rain!

I found a square of fabric I can use to make a bag for him the other day! I know exactly where he is and he's not naked LOL I've been painting the project we have going on now but it's hard to at night cause the dining room light shines right into the living room and makes Dave's tv watching impossible, so I've been working on my embroidery project while watching tv with him using my Ott Lite.

I'm in Central Arkansas.

Sometimes my dial-up is so pokey that I don't bother to try downloading certain things, but the Google maps actually loaded fairly quickly and I found Malvern. Interested in the temperature and climate difference there and here. But that's another topic.

Stay warm, Betty. ^_^

Occasionally I lose this thread altogether. :-/

Well you must find it again Carole, love to see you join us!!!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Judy, that is one cool talented bird.

Thought you all might like to see the primitive snowman a friend painted for me last year on a discarded tabletop ironing board.

Well isn't he jolly Susan..do you keep him inside or outside?

Lexington Park, MD

He is so cute. Winter is coming.............

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

He's made of chipped particle board so wouldn't hold up to the weather. Day after Thanksgiving and til the first day of Spring, he lives next to our entertainment center.

A little Santa I cut out of scrap tin and painted eons ago comes in too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

An artist amongst us, too adorable..
A friend Darlene just called, told me she had her tree up and most of her decorations, drats, I thought I was ahead of the game, almost makes me want to go out to back shed in sleet just to bring in boxes NOT, weekend is early enough.

Love seeing different Christmas pieces, please post photo's everyone, I'll share some of mine later as I take them out of their boxes..need new ideas so post/post/post...

Janice, received your envelope today for you and Stacey, will mark as received..thanks

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to ask..

DID EVERYONE get their kits..did I miss marking received kit on anyones name who did receive?????

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I still need to send you another check, this week has been so hectic I haven't gotten anything personal done. I think I forgot to pay bills too... oh crap....

Did you make it home before it started sleeting?

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Never will be a Picasso but think it's fun pulling Christmas things out of bins and looking at them from year-to-year like they're old friends.

You'll have the whole neighborhood lit up soon, Betty. I'd love to visit you especially at Christmas and see how you decorate and ooh and aah over your handpainted pieces. I'm always on the lookout for new ideas too, the simpler the better and look forward to seeing everyone's decorations.

Today I sanded the edges on both projects and think I'm caught up.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, they are all adorable!

Lexington Park, MD

Betty they are all so cute. You make it sounds so easy but I can not paint like that. Give me a wall no problem.

Another workshop if did was getting 8' 4"x4"..cut in 3

Got to tell you it's a great outdoor project and one of the easiest to do

1- 3 1/2 ft.
2- 2 1/2 ft.
3- 2' (approx.)

then with a regular 1" wood I cut out flames, drilled hole in bottom of flame, top of the 4"x4" pieces and put a dowel to act as the wick

the 4x4 pieces could be stained, painted green/blue etc., flames were painted yellow with a touch of red to make them look as though they are burning...the candle pieces I put on sander to roughen up the edges to make it as though it's melting..

then I tied the 3 -4x4 pieces with wire to secure them together, bought $$$ store ribbon, maybe 2 or 3 rolls of same design, wrapped a length around the piece (hiding the wire), made a big bow with leftover ribbon and attach to wire, I then add the sparkly snow and sparkles and actually I was lucky enough to find gold glue sticks so I added glue to top of each of the 4x4 pieces and added enough that you could virtually see the glue drip down the sides..a really nice touch and it holds in the wicker and flame

Entire project didn't cost more than $15.-20 and was a wow as an outside decoration

Victoria Harbour, ON

LAURA, the one I just posted is same as painting a wall, you meantioned somewhere you'd like something for outside, think it was you, either that or I'm losing it, might have been Maggie..anyway it sounds confusing but I could lead you through...your neighbors certainly would be impressed and can be done in an evening

Lexington Park, MD

I was wanting something for outside. Done in an evening??????????? Are you serious?????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, let's see if I can sketch something for you..nice thing is Home Depot guys will cut the x" x 4" for you at desired measurements..only thing you have to do is cut the flames...

Victoria Harbour, ON

not great sketch but shows you there is nothing to it, promise!
