I have no idea why...just toss Kenny & Steve in the bunch and you would be on the floor.
4th Annual Daves Garden Christmas Craft Workshop!! pt.2
You got that Debbie, keep forgetting you met them all..gee whiz...was a fun afternoon wasn't it..
Taught me how to roll towels if nothing else..lol
ROFL Ohhhh I will never forget that one!
LOL I forgot to look to see what I had last night! DUH!! I know off the top of my head I have a white, black, brown, orange, green, and probably a red from last years snowman's cheeks.
then it's just your main color unless you use the green..
Huh, ok. I'll see what I can do.
Little baby socks work for little hats! Just cut off the toes, put a little roll in it and you have a hat.
yep, baby socks as well, just maybe they have christmas ones in the $$ store ..most have all their stock out about now, they'd make terrific hats
Thanks Linda Kay..
Hi Betty and everyone!
OH my gosh, yesterday I had one of those, can't keep focused on one thing kind of days.
So, did a little of everything! And one of was getting all my pieces sanded!!
Hehe, giggle giggle, I'm on the ball, and ahead of Liz for a change!!
...of course she's had to give me a kick start on finish painting the Kitchen!!!
LOL...OH MY gosh Debbie and Betty, Them Guys of ours txt more then we do any more!
ROFLOL, They be the blabby ones...
OK, next make sure I have all the colors, glad you posted them.
OH my gosh what a great idea about tiny hats!!
Betty, did you get my card?
Just checking in to see if my cash payment arrived yet. Not yet, it appears. Drats.
My 'puter has been weird lately & I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the threads!
I have most of the colors mentioned if they aren't dried out. Need to see before I go to the store.
Check back later.
I did receive 5 of them, put them in my purse so I could log them in, purse in the car locked up..might take a run out to get them..
Do remember that yours Judy was one of them and Chris was the other and Jaye...hmmmm
I'll get the cards..memory isn't as good as it used to be!
Hi Betty! Got my package yesterday, picked it up today.. now to see what colors I need to get for it. I have some and will mix a few together for some of the colors, like the rosy red cheeks :)
Glad you got my money..and I apologize..didn't hit me till I was sending it out that I didn't put a note, a "hi" or anything in there!! Geez..how rude!
Thank you for doing this for us..a lot of work and a lot of time you spend on us :)
Hugs
Betty, your cuts were so clean it only took a few minutes to sand the pieces today. I cheated on the flat surfaces though and used my orbital sander. Thank you for the hints so far about what we're to do next. I'm anxious to base coat the ledge, forest, and Snow People in the morning.
MUST go back to the previous thread and see if some kits arrived on that thread, but as far as I can see I've posted received next to names ..hope I didn't make an error
IF I did then I have all of you who will post to let me know right, that's part of your job..lol
soon ready to start in earnest...
I'm as anxious as you all to see how creative you all become..
I still need to sand my pieces maybe since no school today I can get the kids to do.
Happy to seen my payment arrived safely.
Still trying to decide on colors. :-)
If any of you have stain, you could start by sanding and staining the snowman (one I sent as a gift from me to you) especially if you like the antique aged look..if no stain, then get an acrylic brown and give it a coat...should be dry before we start..that way, when the main color is added and sanding done to rough edges it will take on the antique look..
Good luck picking out you colors, let me know when you have them..

Betty-mom is sending a check for the 2 of us:)
I have some little santa hats that are ornaments I got at the $$ store-I am just going to cut off the string for hanging;)
That sounds great Stacey..I sure I'll be in awe of what you gals come up with..remember the victorian santa's..kits were sent out, all decorated bit differently then new outfits designed..was so much fun!
I didn't do that one, but I saw them (Jaye's was my fave) and got a beautiful one from Trisha done in silver and blue!!
Hi everyone! Been busy farting around all day, well not literally farting, but you know LOL Got my paints out and got all of my wood sanded Woo Hoo!!
Colors ... I sorted through all the paints I had on hand and am determined to use some of them instead of adding more to the collection. LOL. Found a big bottle of a dark green -- "Hunter Green", I think, so will use that for the trees. Have an unopened bottle of "Fleshtone" so going to add a tiny bit of that to some white to make a light color for the base of the snowmen and also may cut it with something else for the base of the other project. But I also have wood stain down in the basement so probably will just go ahead and go with that for Project 2 base. Have a little true red and true yellow to mix to make the orange carrot nose plus a number of the other basic colors plus other not-so-basic ones ... so I think I'm fairly good to go. Probably won't firm it all up until I get started and the creative juices start flowing. ;-) Misplaced the sanding block but that shouldn't take long once I locate it and the tack cloth which are together somewhere. The edges on mine appear fairly smooth.
Soooo ... I think I'm just about ready to begin.
You all have a nice evening.
We had pintos and baked ham for dinner, Crissy...lol
Betty, I base coated creamy white on the snowpeople and stand, and used a forest green on the trees. Actually I went over the pieces twice after noticing how the wood really soaks up paint. Also stained the large snowdude and afterward thought looking at the brown how similar its shape and color remind me of a Gingerbread Man. The extra kit is such a thoughtful gift, thank you again for including it.
Iam hoping to get some paint on the project today,Sadly I have to work !!! And also the weather has been soo great We have been working outside,Iam almost done out in the gardens and yard . Paint tonite while my pizza dough rises...
OK-what do we need to have done B4 Betty starts the online tutorial?? Or has that started and I just didn't see it??
LOL! You were literally farting around, weren't you???
We went to the pizzeria that has the most awards in Hot Springs, guess what?? It was horrible! They didn't spice their sauce or anything else at all, actually I think the sauce was watered down, and it was beyond bland, and way way way too expensive, $35.00 for two 10" pizza's, one had 2 cheeses, chicken, ham, red onions, and tomatoes on thin crust, the other was a cheeseburger pizza and a McDonald's cheeseburger has far more flavor than that thing had! So we have two more certificates, $25.00 each, and we have a plan... order the biggest most packed pizza, called The Godfather, with two salads and tea instead of water and that will take the $50.00, and we will never go back, there's another pizza place we like right down the road that is ran by an Italian family and their pizza's are wonderful, on weekdays you can get a Large 3 topping pizza and a pitcher of beer for $16.00. You would pay $45.00 at this other place and get crappy food.
OK after that rant... here's what paints I have, Snow White, Santa Red, Burnt Orange, Deep Midnight Blue, Black Licorice, Mississippi Mud Brown, Snow-Tex Liquid Snow, and triple thick brush on gloss glaze.
Crissy-if u want a rustic look you need a matte glaze instead of a gloss...either americana or folk art make one in a small paint size bottle for like $1.60. If you don't want the rustic look then you have a good glaze!!
So far, I think she wants us to sand the edges, and paint he base and tree's?
That's what it sounds like, but I don't have any green paint, I need to get out and do things today anyway. LOL I took the day off to get things done this morning, oil change and tire rotation, and a few other things I had on my list that I don't remember what they were now lol, here I sit in my jammies talking to everyone.
Stacey I don't know what I'm going to do. I did rustic for last years project and am thinking that this one should be bold and stand out, but then rustic would match the other, but then I have a birdhouse I painted last year that's not rustic it would match, so I don't know. Thanks for letting me know which gloss to use for the rustic. When I get into these predicaments it takes me forever to make a decision. I need to go get some green paint anyway, I like Americana, it's a cheaper than Folk Art and I think it's better for some reason
Drats, this new thread left my 'watch' so here I thought you were all busy/busy!!!
Here you all are working and I haven't been here in case you need to ask questions..
My first workshop we 3 or 4 who did in managed to schedule a Sunday or was it Saturday morning and I sat at the computer taking photo's, helping where I could with visuals, but then that was quite a project..but now that we are so many I'm wondering if it's possible to pick a time or my just be here on line like last year should you have questions...
Your workshop so you decide....majority always rules..lol
But
Step 1: sand all pieces
Step 2: base all the trees color of choice (believe it or not
blue/green/dusty rose all end up pretty)
Step 3: off white/beige color for the 3 snowman and base
Step 4: the entire base can be painted with the off white/beige
Step 5: the edge of the base painted to match the color of the trees you
used
NOTE:
You will see I drilled holes in the base and trees so the trees can easily be screwed to the base but you don't have to have them all facing in same direction nor to the snowpeople need to be facing frontwards, project looks so much nicer when they are mixed in direction
As for the primitive stick snowman:
Step 1: if you have stain or brown acrylic I'd give him a coat (paint) but
only if you life the more rustic look
If we all get to here then I can move on to another step..
Sounds as though many of you have paints, how wonderful..as for brushes if you don't have any painting brushes, a small sponge brush or regular painting brush will do..the eyes, buttons etc. could be done with various ends of brushes, belly buttons could be done with ear cleaners (can you imagine my mind just went blank and I cannot remember what they are called) as could the pink cheeks...drats I'm getting old.. even for the mouth, instead of a liner a toothpick end could be used..
I got mine Betty!!! Thanks!!!
I'll mark you off Jaye as having been received, lordy, yours took quite awhile...
It's been in Kel's shop for a few days now!!!! Blame it on him :D
The postal worker always drop off non regular stuffs at the shop and leave regular mail in the mail box.. go figure?
LOL Jaye, I can relate. I just got back from Michael's with some green paint so I can paint my trees, so off to paint I go!
Well, I started off by creating a file for your instructions Betty.. so I don't have to keep scrolling! Think I have most of the paint required.
Now.. to rip open the package!! Lol!!
Betty, the word your looking for is Q-tips!
Betty I could never work and be online anyway, the computer is in one of my bedrooms and I have to do my painting in the kitchen on the dining table, so just tell us what we need to do and we can find you if we have problems. I think it would be a good idea to do like you usually do though and set up a time when you're going to be here so if we have questions that can't wait your here to answer them, not like your never here anyway lol!
Agreed. I'm flexible so whatever is decided is fine.
My PC is downstairs but my painting supplies are upstairs. The light is so much better and brighter there. Just might have to borrow hubby's laptop when we go "live". I'll do my best to keep up either way. Just checked in and see I need to paint edges in the AM.
