Coffee Break # 47 - Getting close to turkey time

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is great deb!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - great news, Deb.

Still on pins and needles with my sister. The second series of images still shows something. Her gyn wants her to see a breast specialist and get an mri, but my wife has told her to insist on a biopsy. I agree and so does my sister.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I would too Victor, biopsy is where it all going anyways. I had this done to me when I was 22 years old. It was a tumor but got the same set of run-a-rounds and ended with a biopsy anyways. When I found another in my early 40's I told them, no pussy-footing around this time, just do the biopsy. Can't understand wasting more time......

Deb, that is wonderful news! You, your sister and your whole family must be so relieved!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, me neither.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Great news Deb!

Praying your sister will have great news too, Victor.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks everyone! It was rectal cancer, she went in because she was having symptoms, and was lucky to catch it early.

South Hamilton, MA

Early detection is the key. Glad she can start treatment.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Actually she doesn't need any treatment, just the surgery.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

So glad it all was removed and that she's fine! What a lovely way to celebrate Thanksgiving Day!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jumping in here, as I haven't visited this thread in ages. Will catch up later, but just wanted to share this with all of you. It's the really strange story behind why we had a 'blue moon' on Sunday, even though it wasn't the second full moon in a month.

13 became an unlucky number way back when people had lunar calendars, because the monks had to change the calendar to 13 months during years when there were 13 full moons instead of 12, and it would upset the arrangement of church festivals.

Oh, btw, there will be a 'red moon' on Dec. 21, so called because of a total lunar eclipse that will make the moon appear a ruddy reddish hue for a short time.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Interesting. Great doo wop song too!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, the Blue Moon song is an oldie but goodie.

Very happy for your sister, Debi....she's lucky! Hoping for good results for your sister, Victor. I had a tumor removed about 15 years ago....the doctor didn't do a biopsy, he said whatever it was it had to come out...then the biopsy was done. It was benign, thank God, but for several years, I had to have an ultrasound.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Finally catching up on this thread. Had to check the previous thread to see that pic of the hot dog you guys were all talking about. Wow! Can't believe they put that on kid's math worksheets.

Dad, my sister and myself will be having our TG dinner at our local country club. They put on a free dinner, people just have to make reservations and bring some non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. I've done their dinner before, and they put on a great spread. We also plan to cook a big turkey dinner over the weekend.

Congrats to all of you who won awards in the photo contest. Can't remember who won what, but I know there was Allison, Pat, Victor, SongsofJoy, WaterCan2, Holly (or was it Ric?). Did I miss anyone? Oh, and Ronnie, too.

Great news about your sister, Debi! I'm glad to hear she is just fine.

Victor, I hope your sister will be alright. I would demand the biopsy, too. Why waste time and money on an mri if a biopsy is needed in the end, anyhow? Doesn't make much sense.

Hubby stories about his day always start with "we were at Dunkin' Donuts"....well yeserday's story...they were at DD and saw a guy(didn't look homeless, wasn't dirty at all) digging around the trash cans....sure enough found a bag of something he liked sat down and starting chowing down.....hubby felt bad so he went in and bought the guy some bagels....gives the guy the bag, guy says thanks, he continues to eat what he found in the trash after taking 1 bite of the bagel then do you know what he does with the rest of the bagels????

He throws them away!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice appreciation - especially at Thanksgiving.

Sounds a little mental.....

Happy to report Louise and Hank are fine! Been traveling. She says hello to all!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hello!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks for that report for us, Victor! I'm so sorry if I worried anyone! I thought I had mentioned our trip, but with all the confusion of landing here and then packing right back up for a total of 4800 miles, I am not surprised that I blew it on this one! I've only read this thread so far, and am so happy to hear that your sister is doing so well, Debi! What a nice Thanksgiving present! I was also happy to hear from Harper, but wish she felt more comfy staying around here. I miss you, Harper!

Despite several invitations from lovely friends and neighbors for Thanksgiving, we have decided to just stay home by ourselves. We are tired and needing to shut down and just be quiet and watch football with the girls. I ended up buying all the makings for our traditional dinner, even though we had considered going out for dinner, but you know how it is......what is Thanksgiving without a home-made real dinner with all the fixins???? So, I shipped the girls off to the groomer at the crack of dawn and then made my sweet potato pecan casserole so it will be ready to go into the oven. We'll have a turkey breast instead of the big bird, and I'll definitely use my pretty china, but otherwise, we'll be quiet.

Usually, you hear from me even when we are traveling, but this time I didn't take my computer with me. Now I need to get caught up on reading the threads to find out how all of you are doing! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! It's nice to be back!

Hello, Dear Jen!! :)

^_^

Aw, Louise, you know I can't stay away for too long. I guess I'm a big faker about laying low. I can't stand the current events lately, though.

Thanks Marilyn, here's a tree I've been working on. I think it's a red (norway) pine, but I'm not sure. The guys in the plant ID forum didn't give me a satisfactory answer either.

Gorgeous, Harper! Could be a pitch pine, I'm not great on tree IDs either! Hope you're enjoying your classes.....

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Thanks Marilyn. It's not a pitch pine. The needles are two to a bundle and the pitch pine has more.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

wow - that is beautiful harper!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Gorgeous. Too many pines look alike. Almost impossible to tell from that vantage point.

Getting the house ready today.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Got a major chunk of Christmas shopping done yesterday. Amazon did very well by me.

South Hamilton, MA

Lovely card as usual, Victor. Thank you!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

did some amazon ordering myself - some how santa included a conifers book and a garden design book - he is a good guy!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well Christmas trees are conifers!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Read that Facebook is going to be granted a trademark for the word 'face'!!

I might apply for 'butt'.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm taking it as a positive sign that the area of collateral damage from my boys around the toilet bowl seems to be decreasing.

but Victor
