What's on the menu today??

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I can eat anything for breakfast, sometimes it's spaghetti or whatever leftover dinner. I prefer that to regular breakfast foods. I have to be up for a few hours first too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - spaghetti?!!

Sure is good - anytime!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

When I went to work it was coffee/ tea with a danish for breakfast.
Since I don't burn enough calories now in the am, it's a diet coke or water with a small pastry. Sometimes coffee with a bagel with cream cheese & mildly smoked salmon as a treat now and then.
- Lunch is a hot pastrami sandwich on rye today with a little diet pepsi.

Thomaston, CT

Oooh...the pastrami sounds good......I'm eating dinner at son's house tonight since I'm babysitting....I'll take anything except turkey.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

no me big left over turkey dinner in about an hour:)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Leftovers, of course!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah no shock again... turkey

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

ditto

TLT for breakfast and Haddock and onion rings for supper/dinner

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Chicken and spicy yellow rice with green beans and mango keylime pie.

My tradition has always been to have pumpkin pie for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving. Didn't have any left this morning, so I went with my usual eggbeaters vegetable omelet and fresh berries. Nothing like pumpkin pie for breakfast!

Robin - let us know what you ended up having at DS's.

Turkey here too

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I took some jelly crumb buns out of my freezer for breakfast... they are from a bakery in my parents town.. boy are they the best

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I have a Turkey Pot Pie in the oven... I made it all from scratch. Yesterday I made turkey stock and we had Turkey soup for dinner. Still lots of stock left even after today's pot pie. That'll do it for our turkey leftovers. There's enough for one or two more sandwiches, but that's it. :)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

should have saved the carcass for soup!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Lol if you mean me, that's what I did :) I called it stock though. I had a giant pot of it. I made at least 5 qts. Guessing :)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

:) no we should have - still have enought left to chop up - will have to mention it to the cute chef here........

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hi Meredith!! I was wondering how you and your cute little cherubs are doing! I've missed your posts...... Turkey pot pie! Wow....that's impressive! Sounds good too. Hank LOVES chicken pot pie if it's homemade, so I may have to try out the turkey pot pie.

Thomaston, CT

That's inspired me as well....there was no turkey at son's....it was all in his MIL's fridge.....I made pasta! Tonight I worked at the church, a volunteer made beef stew for the other volunteers, or you could have a hot dog....I took the beef stew.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

mmmm, Robin! I love good beef stew, but I'm picky about whether the beef is tender or not. We went out to our favorite little spot tonight and I had a half gorgonzola salad with chicken. My favorite light supper on the go! We had to do some shoe shopping for Hank. He is so bad about shopping for things he needs. I'm tired of watching him limp around. DONE, for at least another 5 years if Hank had his way. Tsk Tsk. :)

Thomaston, CT

Oh, he's typical! I would just bring things home for Doug.

Had a late turkey leftover lunch then went to a diner after church, had open face roast beef.

Hi Louise! Those little cherubs have been keeping me busy! Lol I am officially all cooked out! I am enjoying some homemade apple pie for the second time. I made up two recipes of pie crust when I realized the lard was enough for at least two. Well now I realize it's enough for 3. But I cheated the night before Thanksgiving and used a ready made pie crust because I hate to have any surprises on the big day and I hadn't made a from scratch pie crust in years. Well I have to say my homemade pie crust came out delicious! I used all lard which I've never done before. Usually I use a combo of shortening and butter. The all lard crust for the pot pie was perfect as is from the recipe on the box. Only thing I did different for the second crust for the pie was add a tablespoon of powdered sugar. It is perfect, I also used a bit more brown sugar in this second pie and no lemon juice and I think I like it much better! : ) I love experimenting with my recipes.

Here's a pic of the Turkey Pot Pie.. I guess I didn't make the vent slices deep enough. Lol
DH and DS said it's the best they've ever had (they were coparing to chicken pot pies) ... maybe just cuz they knew I worked so hard I'd kill em if they didn't say something real nice lol jk. I can't believe how much flakier a lard crust is. This apple pie I'm eating now tastes just like grandmas : )

Wow, Meredith...that's a work of art....too pretty to eat! I went out for lunch, but couldn't really eat more than chicken soup because I have caught a bronchial thing from my dear grandson!
